Home away from home when travelling

Amazing staff, I have been using this hotel for the past 3 years when I visit a few times each year. It is actually condo full mini apartment flat with kitchen sink , microwave, fridge and plates etc. kitchen table. Nice balcony for each unit. They have family 2 bedroom suites with 2 bathrooms as a full apartment with kitchen and living room as well above foyer. Price is VERY reasonable. Park your car under your condo , nice set up. The abandoned mall used for paint ball activities behind the hotel is a little ugly and the small river smells sometimes. That’s the only down side. I still feel at home and will go back again.

Staff treat me like family, they remember me and go out of their way to help. Top manager Brownwin and her entire team are very friendly and professional. It’s a very quiet location and for me is perfect when using Ubers to travel as a Canadian visiting . Safe, quiet , food is amazing, and close to Eastgate and Bedfordview main shopping malls with easy uber pickup.

Wonderful friendly, helpful staff, except I had to call in twice to confirm booking as could not be found. Super friendly, helpful staff, beautiful reception, venue, dining room area, amazingly spacious suite!! :-) I would include a dish drying cloth and salt and pepper, possibly Nescafe coffee sachets. Unfortunately the outlook was awful-the building opposite has been neglected and is an eye-sore; its as if the hotel is in a bad part of the city. If fast growing pepper or viburnum trees could be planted next to the hotel property fence, this would create a beautiful vista and block the immensely ugly view, otherwise a fantastic facility with covered parking directly outside the unit with extra covered parking. Thank you.

This is a very nice property to stay. It’s convenient to 2 large shopping malls - very close by that have every store available. What I think I liked best about staying at this City Lodge was the staff. They were more than happy to help with any request but then were surprised and so grateful at even the smallest tip offering. They had no expectation of receiving a tip and all seemed to just want to help. This is the kind of place that is memorable because it feels safe and someone is looking out for you. Thank you from a grateful American.

Excellent hotel with apartment / condo suites

Absolutely wonderful premises and the staff is exceptional! I travel across many African countries and have stayed in premium hotels. This hotel has treated me like family and remember me between visits. The manager personally checks in on me several times during stay. Very secure, restaurant is very good and well priced. I highly suggest for business , group or family travels . Safe, clean, friendly, and very quiet.

The rooms are pleasantly furnished and quite roomy. The beds are comfy; the bathrooms spacious and well maintained. The grounds are beautiful with many nice places to sit. The food is tastefully prepared in a lovely dining room. The staff is pleasant and always accommodating . There is very little nearby so a car is necessary

Good location between Johannesburg CBD & the airport, if you need to get to Johannesburg CBD for business. I got a room with 2 singles which wasn’t great, but the facilities are good enough get through job done in a safe & clean manner.

I was on my own and I felt safe at all times. I asked for extra milk once and I received it every day after that. I received xtra special service from the receptionist who booked me in on the Sunday right down to your security at the gate, every day of my stay, thank you very much. I wish I took these people's names, I think it's so much better to mention them by name, I will remember next time.

One night in johannesburg

A nice place, a bit of an inconvenient location for most I would suspect but not for me. Limited bar restaurant services but sufficient for me. Advertised a hotel shuttle to the airport and nearby areas but it was not really true. They will order you a car, or a taxi, or an Uber but I could do that myself. There is no hotel shuttle. I tend to think of hotel shuttles as gratis except for maybe a tip to the driver.

My stay was a pleasant one, very helpful, polite and cheerful staff from General Manager to cleaners and all in between!

Despite food choice being limited there was plenty of it and was all tasty.

Local area apparently not particularly safe but I had no issues during my stay.

Would stay there again and would recommend to others

Handy for a stop over as reasonably close to the airport - uber much cheaper than shuttle Fairly basic hotel but very friendly helpful staff . Great breakfast, spacious 2 bed apartment but shower is cold! Takes 30 mins to heat up then only just warm enough.

Nice quiet location, tucked away in a business park backing onto a park. Rooms are suites with a separate bedroom, large bathroom. Staff were very pleasant and the complementary happy hour drinks were a nice touch.

Breakfast was great and they had baked beans, a personal favorite.

On caveat, don't ask the hotel to arrange a local taxi. The car was very small and over 10 years old and in bad condition. Make your own taxi arrangements.

Great improvements

The room I stayed in last week was one which had just been renovated and refurnished. The improvement was huge; previously the rooms, although generally clean, were dim and dingyand the bathrooms were paricularly uninviting. They now exude a feeling of cleanliness, brightness and lightness.
However the overpowering smell of paint is something that must be dealt with, and when I went to shower the glass shower door fell off it's track and smashed into a thousand pieces. I cut my feetand my arm, although not seriously, getting out of the bathroom. When I reported the incident to the chap on the front desk, he said yes it had happened before If that is the case it is something that must be dealt with urgently; someone could easily be seriously injured.

I reserved a queen non-smoking. We got to the room only to find 2 twin beds put together. They transferred us but it was an unnecessary inconvenience. There were no rooms on the \"ground\" level; one had to carry luggage either up or down a flight of stairs. Who designs a hotel that way? There was no lunch or evening meal served at the hotel. Mr Delivery was recommended -- they said a simple order would take an hour. The seating in the room was ok but there was no sofa where two people could sit together. There are too many better choices out there -- I won't make that choice again!

This hotel is really just average. We were only there for 1 night, but it was quite quiet and empty. The pond outside was really just a mud pile.. with abandoned tires in it and geese walking around - not the most beautiful thing to look at. The room was very old and run-down. They even provide you with your own can of raid to kill bugs.. I think that really tells you all you need to know.
