Stunning views from tired hotel

Stayed in junior suite with lake view - spacious room with magnificent view. Room decor was tired and needs refreshing and modernising. Breakfast was not good - went 40 minutes before end of service and food was depleted, no tables set, and staff already packing away. Better food in local restaurants.

Lovely comfortable hotel. Beware of added 5% service charge to bill on check out.
We were disappointed that most of the sun loungers with shade were reserved permanently for people staying in suites. This was not made clear. Parking spaces are very tight in the underground car park. The music from the fountain disturbs rooms at the front. Overall a lovely stay but over priced.

Electrical issues and apathetic front of house.

We stayed 48 hours and had more electricians and managers in our room than we were, completely unnecessary.
Our overhead light when turned off, would cut all electricity to other outlets. No
Phones could charge overnight. Manager was in our room till 23:45 with a ladder to unscrew the light. No update next day, no apology, just came back after 2 hours to our outlets working but not the Fridge or TV. Reception just said “sorry for your inconvenience” at check out in an apathetic tone. Would not return.

Property and surrounds are incredibly beautiful, the lakeside beach is a real bonus. Rooms are small but well furnished and clean. The hotel staff at check in are functional but lack warmth and personality. Parking is €20 a night, however there is a free car park a short walk from the hotel. The hotel gym comes at a cost, an iron could not be provided to iron a shirt, had to pay for pressing, a continuing theme of the hotel. A bit of a two-tier guest system employed at the hotel also. A huge amount of beds on the beach front reserved for suites and was removed from another non reserved area, along with other guests who had been there all morning, to make room for families who had turned up with dogs. This area of the beach was designated as pet friendly, not pet only.
Overall a perfectly nice stay but the staffing and continual attempts to extract more money from guests left me questioning whether I would return. Oh and the final bill included a 5% tip for the hotel, alongside the local tourist tax.

Definitely a 5-star type of hotel. Along with the gorgeous views, ammenities, comfort, quality of food and service were excellent.
However, sometimes missing one thing can make a major negative impact on your stay. In our case, it was a huge number (hundreds) of mosquitoes and biting bugs coming from the AC system! When we complained, we were shortly told it was taken care of - it wasn’t - and we suffered for two nights before finally switching rooms on the opposite side of the property. After that, things were great. Yet, in a 5-star hotel, should something like this ever happen?

Pack bug spray when traveling to this area and hotel.

We have stayed at this Hotel a few times & is very comfortable. Various rooms to choose from depending on your budget. A lot of up dates have taken place, adding a beach area. In the center of town where numerous restaurants are available but do a search to find the right ones.

Almost perfect stay…

Loved our stay here - friendly staff, beautiful room and hotel public areas, brilliant location. We had a standard room - didn’t pay for lake view but got incredible view of the mountains (on 3rd floor). Room was way more luxurious than we’d thought - great size and facilities . We ate at the bistro and pool bar - good food, not cheap but not silly prices bearing in mind the surroundings.

Few downsides:

There was a 5% service charge added we didn’t know about until we checked out - would have been good to know up front

side of the pool is lethally slippy - I saw 4 adults fall on it including my husband who cut his foot quite badly. And lots of kids slipping - definitely needs sorting.

Place was wonderful! Fantastic views. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff. The local area is lacking in shops and the like if that was part of your plan, but it was not ours except for a couple of souvenirs. And there are some available in the hotel, in Stresa and on the 3 islands.
If I were to gripe, there are no in room drink facilities (tea / coffee) and the complimentary bottles of water were only for a welcome. Since I go up and down the country I have gotten in to the habit of waking up and having a coffee in the room before venturing forth, and what with having the balcony, I did feel I missed out a little having a morning coffee with the fantastic view!
I also felt the price was a touch on the high side not to include breakfast, but the hotel seemed full so perhaps that merely ensures adequate service standard.
However the hotel was fantastic, do not take anything else away from this review than that! Additionally upon check out we were offered water for the journey home and were given 2 packets of absolutely delicious biscuits made at the hotel.
We are already thinking about going back next year!

We were recommended to the Grand Dino by friends, and they were right. The reception desk was staffed with the most knowledgeable and patient people; we asked them everything from nearby hiking trails to extra toothpaste, and they always provided excellent service. The daily breakfast worth the price with a great selection of foods and drinks. Although it was a buffet, the chef was kind enough to cook omelettes for us. The rooms were in great condition and super clean. We had no complaints about the room at all. The hotel restaurant, Last Hall, provided great food and service, especially the bread service, pasta, and beef. The pool was well-managed with plenty of towels, chairs, and umbrellas. Don't miss the fountain shows that run every 30 minutes between 8:00 PM and 9:30 PM each night. Can’t miss the fountain outside the front entrance.

Just perfect!

Beautiful hotel in the perfect location. The recent addition of a beach and new pool area makes this the perfect hotel for a quite family holiday. The rooms are spotless. The staff are great with a special mention for Giacomo (maître d') who greeted us by name each morning. Will definitely visit again.

This hotel is massive, much bigger than I anticipated. It’s a gorgeous place with both interior and exterior pool. The lawn is a very nice place to sun bathe and the pool is slightly chilled which makes for a refreshing dip. The gym downstairs is huge and well equipped (is available for an extra charge). The beach is a bit limited but we were able to go for a dip off the dock. I believe they’re working on the beach. The breakfast was great and the service was excellent. Overall, we had a really nice stay.

What a mess , really felt cheated

This is the second time that Hotel Dino was available to book but few days bevor the come back with other hotel recommendations out of there group.
Last time it was Hotel Splendid and it was not as good as Dino but ok.

This time it was terrible. Hotel Bristol is Outdated, not at the see, and the first offers room where not in the main building.

I told them that this is not fair.
But they refused to give a cashback / refund.
This hotel is not fair priced.

My conclusion is that they try to get bookings on Hotel Dino and then to relocate to Hotel out of there Group.
It feels like trapped.

The grandeur and lavish furnishings are a treat and warm the heart. You should feel you are being well cared for, breakfast is a delight of wonderful abundance overlooking Lake Maggiore and the Boromean islands from the Grand dining room. Artwork adorns the walls, stained glass domed ceilings are awe-inspiring as are the amazing spacious areas all around the hotel with thick bright carpets and dazzling huge chandeliers - spoil yourself.

Grand hotel Gino sounds and looks as described.
Room was good and clean and in keeping with the hotels theme.
Bed was comfortable but pillows were hard and unforgiving and very flat.two pillows would have been nice or something a little bit more plush.
Food hall was good but the food was not up to standard for this grade of hotel and expensive.
Had much better in much cheaper hotels.
Overall facilities were good but we left feeling disappointed.

Beautiful hotel overlooking Lake Maggiore.

Although it is a huge complex, it was quiet and didn't feel busy even though there were numerous tour buses parked out front. Our room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the lake. Lovely bathroom with great shower and big towels. The grounds and swimming pools were perfect with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. I appreciated that when we were lounging outside, they never tried to sell us drinks/food like other resorts. Close to wonderful restaurants in Baveno. Would definitely stay here again.

Both pools where very nice and refreshing. The room was spacious and roomy for my wife and I and our 7 year old son. The breakfast was okay but over priced. The dinner at the restaurant on the patio was good but the bottles of wine where also over priced. But if I ever need a relaxing place to stay before flying out of Milan I will probably staying here again.

What a beautifully decorated hotel. We had a veranda with a view of the beautiful pool and the lake. Service was excellent. The outdoor pool water was very coool but the indoor pool water was nice and warm. It gives a feeling of luxury. The covered walkway between this hotel and the Simplon is not to be missed. We where at the hotel with a tour and extended our stay. The staff cheerfully arranged for us to have the same room.

Clients are treated like Cattle, not even goodbye!

The staff are so busy, they do not have time for much customer service. The check-in was very rushed, we thought that it was because they were busy; however on check-out it came across as rude.

One lady started checking me out, then started talking to another guest and left me standing there, another member of staff carried on with the card transaction - with not even a hello and then left my receipt and card on the counter and walked off, not even a goodbye?!

My wife and I first visited Grand Hotel Dino several years ago on a tour, and the beautiful images remained with us. We decided to return this July and it was everything we remembered and much more. The hotel is spectacular and the scenery is as well. Hopefully on our next trip up north we will bring our entire family including our grandchildren. We know that they, too, will just love it.

Too big for its own good

Grand Hotel Dino is all about scale - how to get hundreds of tourists in and out. The service inevitably suffers. The rooms are small, but fine. The hotel has all the amenities one could wish for, but Lake Maggiore should be enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere, and it's difficult amidst all the hustle of the hotel. Also, watch out for extras not included, including parking and a fairly expensive breakfast.

Grand Hotel Dino is a beautiful resort, nestled on the shore of Lake Maggiorre with great views of the lake and
mountains. Close to the ferry ramp for easy access to the Borromean Islands, which afford a glimpse into the lifestyle of the rich and famous of long-ago, in the form of an exquisite palace and gardens.

The hotel is a wonderful resort with too many amenities to name. It is an extremely serene place, and was a
great way to start our Italian vacation.

very enjoyable.We used the hotel as a base .

good experience.We did not eat there as we felt it was too expensive for us but there were good restaurants very near for breakfast and an evening meal.we enjoyed the terrace and lounge/bar overlooking the lake. Hotel rather like an upmarket transit camp with so many guests booking in and out everyday.

I would recommend it to friends but I thought it expensive.
maybe the other guests had bargain deals.

Staff on reception were very friendly in particular a young lady called Marguerite and Pamela.

The Fitz is like putting on the Ritz!

We've been to Dublin several times. The Fitzwilliam was by far the best hotel. When we arrived (with jet lag) we took a walk around St. Stephen's Green which was directly across from the hotel, and the jet lag just seemed to disappear :) Great hotel, great location and great price. This is our go-to hotel in Dublin.

Lovely hotel.

The hotel and location are both lovely. The only thing I would say is the food I. The hotel is very expensive. However there are lots of restaurants right next to the hotel offering much lower prices. The ferry port for Baveno is right on your doorstep too, which is so handy.

Nice hotel. Feels more like Vegas than Italy in p

This hotel is glorious in some respects and annoying in others. They offer a base rate which is most reasonable then add on a huge amount for breakfast. Also online they offer you one price for breakfast then offer a cheaper price when you arrive. They charge for parking and internet and frankly it all leaves a bad taste. That being said, the facilities are first class and if you want to sit by a pool overlooking the lake I doubt you'd find better.

Stunning hotel in a beautiful location. The town doesn't have much to do. Hotel a bit pricy but is really stunning. Took our 7 month old daughter and the staff were really helpful in warming bottles and baby food. They charged us €16 a night though for tg cot which we weren't expecting. Rooms very nice but a little small. Food in resturahts in town basic but nice. Lovely pizza and basic pasta. Breakfast at hotel I heard was over pricey, but th cafe in the square 30 seconds away from the hotel di lovely coffee am toast and marmalade for €4 - an chocolate brioches for €1.20 much better value

Great service in a comfortable hotel

The friendly staff at GHD are possibly its best feature. The location is excellent offering beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. We particularly enjoyed listening to the live music that was played in the hotel each night of our 3 night stay. Our only disappointment was the poor quality of food on the bar menu. However, this didn't detract from what was overall a most enjoyable stay.

Great hotel

This hotel is beautiful both inside and out. We really enjoyed our stay. The downsides were that the internet was very expensive, 5 EUR for one hour and the breakfast is very expensive.

Grand Hotel Dino

Hotel is beautifully sited and the public rooms and areas are stunning. Rooms are a bit small but clean and comfortable. Food is good if somewhat pricey as are drinks. Wi-Fi must be paid for and is expensive. parking costs 10 Euro per night in the clean and safe underground garage. Staff were friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. All in all a very nice hotel and good value (particularly from Hotels.com) if you can avoid the extras.

Everything was great here one

Everything was great here one of the best hotels around the area, only one thing is that early in the morning the maides will wake you up cleaning the rooms, the floors and walls are very thin so you hear everything. Would def go back though.

Skøn oplevelse på hotel Dino. Regnen silede ned og vi kunne derfor ikke bruge udendørsfaciliteterne. Men poolen indenfor var i særklasse. Morgenmaden var rigtig god. Værelserne smukke og rene.

A nice stay with a disappointing check out.

Me and my girlfriend spent the weekend in this hotel. Worth mentioning, this is a conference hotel and probably works best for bigger groups. Not a bad place for a romantic weekend but as an example the breakfast is served in a giant ballroom and not so intimate. The location with a private beach is perfect and in early September it was almost empty! Service was flawless and we even had an upgrade to a slightly bigger Junior suite with a fantastic lake view. However, here comes the criticism. There was a huge garden party taking place on Saturday which was probably the main reason for \"moving\" us. It would have been appropriate to get that information when checking in. Even though we were staying at the other side of the hotel we could hear the bass until the party stopped at 2am and my girlfriend didn't get a proper sleep. This was the only negative thing and when we mentioned this at the check out we got a very strange reaction. The lady at the front desk told us there were signs informing about the conferences and this should be enough for us to understand it could be noisy!? Then she made the weirdest move, instead of dealing with the complaint in a professional way she crumpled the bill in from of us and said she would deduct the 5% voluntary service fee. This was not my intention, I would gladly pay more to the professional room-service and staff in the bars and restaurants.

Snydt for morgenmad

Vi ankom og fik at vide at vi skulle betale ca 20 Euro/person for morgenmad per dag - trods det at det stod i jeres beskrivelse af vores bookning. Samtidig var den ældre receptionist sur.
Så vi valgte at spise vores morgenmad på en café i stedet.
Men selve hotellet var rigtig godt

Sehr schönes luxuriöses Hotel!
Personal sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.
Üppiges Frühstücksbuffet!
Indoor-Outdoorpool super.
Am Strand sehr schön mit Liegen, Sonnenschirmen und Badetüchern.
Einziges Manko man muss über Treppe und sehr große Steine in den See.

Recensione con 5 stelle, ma...

Ho dato 5 stelle perchè la struttura è piacevole, accogliente, con cura dei dettagli (bravo l'architetto e l'interior designer), con composizioni floreali accattivanti, e finiture di qualitatà e precisione. Rinfrescata nel 2023 non ha l'aria da \"antichi fasti\".
Alcune cose però non vanno bene.
1. Al momento del conto, senza chiederlo preventivamente, è stata stampata la ricevuta applicando un supplemento del 5% rispetto al prezzo omnicomprensivo indicato su Hotels.com, a titolo di \"servizi alberghieri\". In realtà credo fosse la mancia. Siamo in Italia e la mancia dovrebbe essere una libera scelta del cliente e non inserita di default nella ricevuta. Di pessimo gusto chiedermi ex post (senza specificare che si trattava di mancia) se io fossi stato d'accordo. La ricevuta ormai era stampata e mi ha messo in grosso imbarazzo, quindi sul momento non ho compreso quella richiesta e ho lasciato stare. Per me non è accettabile mettere i clienti in condizioni di imbarazzo.
2. Gli asciugamani non sono stati cambiati: ok l'ecologia, ma andrebbe scritto come fanno tanti hotel \"se li lasci per terra li cambiamo\". Non essendo scritto nulla davo per scontato venissero cambiati e così non è stato.
3. Piscina molto affollata, con tanti bambini rumorosi.
4. Parcheggio a 20 euro al giorno ma anche a 1,5 euro all'ora: se sposti la macchina più volte al giorno arrivi a pagare più di 20 euro nella giornata, come fosse un paecheggio pubblico: non mi pare corretto, una speculazione davvero ridicola.

Début des lac

Superbe nous avons utiliser le lac et pas la piscine trop de monde, le bar est agréable le petit déjeuner est superbe et c’est un grand hôtel avec de belle chambre avec vue sur le lac dans notre cas
Restaurant autour et départ bateau à 200 mètres donc très bien situé

Hotel idéalement situé et bien équipé avec vue incroyable sur le lac et les îles Borromées. Service de qualité et personnel d'une grande gentillesse. On regrette le supplément à payer pour l'accès à la salle de sport et le Spa. Hotel très accueillant pour les familles et les animaux. Là encore le supplément de 25 euros par jour pour le chien est un peu exagéré surtout en cas de séjour de longue durée et lorsqu'on opte pour ne pas faire le ménage tous les jours comme suggéré par l'hôtel dans un but ecologique.
Malgré ces petits bemols l'hotel reste une très bonne adresse que nous recommandons !
