This hotel could definitely improve its maintenance and overall upkeep. When we first checked in, our room was on the second floor, and even walking down the hallway felt unsafe because there were several soft spots in the floor that made it feel like you could fall through.

Once we got into the room, there was a strong unpleasant odor, so we requested to be moved. The second room didn’t leave a much better impression. It didn’t appear to be thoroughly cleaned or well maintained. The bed was small and creaked so much it felt like it might break. We also had to call a 1-800 support number just to get the TV connected to the internet, which was very inconvenient. On top of that, the shower had poor water pressure, and the hot water was inconsistent.

Overall, this was not a good experience, and I expected much better. With proper maintenance, cleanliness, and a few updates, this hotel could provide a much more enjoyable stay.

The property is just Ok. I've stayed at other Candle Suites and they have been nice, however this one was below average. We only had maid service 1 out of the 2 days we stayed there. One of the other things that annoyed me was that the front desk clerk took approximately 30 minutes to check us in we were the only guests checking in at the time and had prepaid reservations the time was about 7PM.

The floors were terrible, sticky and dirty. The shower looked iffy, so we decided to wait till we got home to take a shower. Bed was fine and it was clean. Everything else was ok. Glad we were only staying two nights. They charge as much as a hotel that offers breakfast, yet there is no continental breakfast.

I had to be moved to 3 different rooms tne first room had water all on the bathroom floor the second room was awful smelled like a cigarette factory with a smoke detector dangling from the ceiling and the hotel supposed to be 100% smoke free the 3rd room.was just ok and the water is not hot at all. Absolutely Unacceptable Experience – Never Again

I don’t typically leave hotel reviews, but I feel a responsibility to warn others after our experience at Candlewood Suites.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of a family trip. The first part of the week we had been with relatives, but chose to get a hotel for the final nights so our hosts could have space to enjoy time with their adult children.

We arrived at the hotel around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, already exhausted from a long, wonderful day with family. As we checked in, a friend who had arrived for the same family gathering was checking out—not even 30 minutes after arriving. She had already been moved twice due to the condition of her rooms and warned me to find another hotel. But given how late it was, and assuming surely not every room could be that bad, we decided to stay.

Big mistake.

The first suite we were given had not been vacuumed. The nightstand had sticky, stained surfaces from old spills. The toilet had hair on it, and there were beer bottle caps on the closet floor. Still, we were tired and trying to stay optimistic. But when we pulled back the sheets, what we saw on the bed was truly unacceptable and unhygienic. I won’t go into graphic detail, but it was vile.

We called the front desk immediately. To their credit, they moved us to another room without hesitation. Unfortunately, the second room, while not as disturbing, was still not clean.

Went to one room and didn’t even unload the bags when my son said dad the toilet nasty , they said let me go check another room, they put us there and exact same thing plus more, poop in the toilet, pee around the toilet, phone wasn’t connected so I couldn’t call when, microwave was broke, recliner handle was broke , water leaked out the shower , sink disposal didn’t have a guard just straight to the blades, it was just a mess.

I didnt like the fact that the room pictured is not what i received. There was food left in the refrigerator. The kitchenette sink was leaking in a trashcan placed under the sink. The shower still had a previous guest bodywash sticker stuck to the shower wall. Room smelled like wet carpet and mildew.

Room 108 had a restricter on the hot water in The shower. The water was room temperature. Room 109 had no soap in dispenser in shower
I understand the need to reduce costs to heat water, but losing my 2 rooms once a month because of your penny wise and pound foolishness is the result. All of your savings from no hot water lost on just one of many customers who won’t come back.

Hotel could use a deep cleaning once you get past the lobby and into the elevator/ hallways. There is a pungent odor of mold and trash once you get to the hallways. Some finishing touches need to be revisited . Our door closed and opened but it was a little loose. Also, the handicap parking spots are taken up by local contractors who are staying at the hotel who dont have handicap decals. I travel woth a disabled person so this was very annoying. Room was a little moist.

Upon checking in the clerk told us the elevator was broken and then put us on the 3rd floor. We were put in a room with 2 big canisters of damp-rid and the mold smell was so horrible we were getting sick. My husband went down stairs after 30 minutes of checking in a we were refused a refund so we could go to another hotel. They did put us in the room next door. The smell wasn’t as bad. The pool was full of debris and the pool chairs were in the pool. When asked about the pool the clerk didn’t seem bothered. Sunday morning, no hot water. The 1st floor had a linen bucket to catch the water dripping from an apparent leak. It takes very weak people to refuse a refund to customers who do not want to stay in a hotel full of mold and mildew. That is very unhealthy. Tried calling Kelli and of course there was no answer. We don’t have money to throw away to pay what we paid and then again at another hotel because this hotel can’t fix the problems. That was extremely expensive for the nasty sloppy conditions of this hotel. I expected better from a Candlewood. I did have a reservation for festival weekend but that has been cancelled and we will be staying elsewhere because there is no way we can do that to ourselves again. I will be taking every avenue possible to be refunded for our stay as the conditions are not up to code. It’s honestly disgusting that this hotel is operating in these conditions. We will never stay here again. It’s definitely not worth the price and your health.

My sister and I wanted to get away for a couple of days and this was a great place for us. It was conveniently located as we planned to visit Avery Island. The hotel was clean and quiet. The room had lots of space and the beds were comfortable. Our only complaint was the microwave did not heat up, but that didn't affect our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a place to stay.

I was a bit unhappy this stay. Upon checking in, I was told there was no hot water and did not know when it would be repaired. I was given the option to cancel my reservation but could not refund my money because I had booked through Expedia. It was late and I chose to stay. I could not get my tv to work so I tried to call the front desk….my phone did not have a cord and wasn’t working. I went to the front desk and the woman came to my room and got my tv to work but the remote had to be right near the tv and I had to punch in each channel number, wait a few seconds and finally the channel would come on. Well, I eventually turned off the tv and then the next morning, couldn’t get it to work. That evening a different employee tried to get the tv to work but was unable so I was moved to another room with a working tv. Also, at that time I inquired about the hot water and was told it was working. I have stayed at this property multiple times and this is the first time I have had issues.

The hotel was ok for the price I paid, good location, close to the airport, easy access; the only issue I had was the people who were staying there were kind of loud (closing doors, cabinets, with the tv’s), I couldn’t go to sleep the first day I got there like until 2am because the drunk next door was listening and singing country music all night long…
And the insulation on the windows is not the best neither, you could hear every car that drove by the hotel… I have stayed in hotels like in Miami International Airport that has a plane taking off or landing every minute and you can’t hear a thing of what’s going on over you; in this room you can hear even the people talking outside…. Hard to catch any sleep (at least for me) with all this going on around you.

Disgusting place do NOT stay here!!!! The entire complex STINKS! All rooms have moisture getting in so they’re damp and have carpet! That equals mildew! There were silverfish inside the supposed clean towels & the facial tissues even stunk! Most appalling place I have ever stayed! They had children screaming & dogs barking both up and down the halls. Old window units with obvious mold right above them. Floors that were not carpet were sticky. I don’t even want to know why. PLEASE stay at a Hilton owned hotel if you must be in this area. Not this sh*thole.

We stayed here for a few days after having my gastric stomach sleeve surgery done. I was comfortable even under the circumstances of surgery. The room had a smell and the vent for the ac was filthy. So glad i always bring my own sanitizing spray. Underneath the bed hadn’t been cleaned. My husband found an infants hat underneath the bed along with other stuff. The carpet was disgusting. It needed to be shampooed. The front desk made it a point to tell me how many towels were in the room and if I needed more then I had to make sure to bring the used towels before getting replacements.

Front desk staff was friendly and nice. She quickly checked us in and engaged in conversation. I booked a second room for a business partner and she was just as wonderful checking them in. They had an issue with the door not opening and she quickly resolved the issue. She remained pleasant throughout. Our room was clean and comfortable. Only down side was it was loud and I woke up a few times in the night due to doors slamming throughout the night. It was Saturday night and the hotel cant control all of the other customers. Overall I was happy and plan to stay again next year for business.

When we got there to check in, they couldnt find our reservation in the system, took them forever to figure ut out! After getting in our room, we had to switch rooms hours later because when we got to our room after leaving for a while, our door was open. The lock didnt work. So we had to pack all our stuff up an switch rooms, an uopack all over again! Couldnt swim the saturday like we planned because a guest decided to have a birthday party an had at least 40 people over so they took over the whole pool untill finally after hours the hotel manager told them they had to leave, they refused which resulted in multiple cops coming because of arguing between everyone! When we were finally able to get in the pool, the sun was already down an it was too chilly so we just got out the pool! This was supposed to be a fun relaxing birthday get away for me and my mom, but instead turned out to be very irritating between having trouble checking in, to having to switch rooms, an not being able to swim!!! Swimming was the reason we decided to rent a room!!!! I wasnt pleased at all by our stay there!! An will not ever concider going back! Definitly a waste of my time and money!!
