The room was clean. That’s about the only good thing. There was no amenities at all. No breakfast or anything. The beds were very hard. The parking lot was very small. Very basic. It wouldn’t be bad for a one night stay in a pinch. But staying 2 nights or more was awful.

Neat little Mom and Pop hotel on the edge of Shawnee National Forest. Very few perks, no breakfast or pool, but solid internet and there's a great BBQ place right down the road. We will be back.

Quaint. Lake of Egypt area and out of the bustle of Marion proper. A little dated; but pretty good bang for your buck. Rooms are nice. Beds are comfortable and if you want a hint of curry...you may want to bring some.

Very clean, nice rooms. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The lodging is located in a more remote area, nice parking lot with lights. A Road Warrior gas station was were we got food and gas, it’s only about a mile away.

Booked this hotel online while traveling. Owners were very nice. The wife gave me a start of an edible plant she had growing. The room was very clean and you could tell the paint was fresh and tile floor was kept clean
Comfortable mattress. Checkout easy. Will stay again.

Not terrible, but not great either

Booked a King suite, got 2 double beds. Room smelled \"not great\", but it was very late by the time we made it in, and we just decided to keep it rather than asking to change rooms and carting all our stuff to who knows where.

This hotel doesn't have an entrance with an overhang, so unless you're lucky enough to get one of the spaces next to the entrance, you can be walking more than usual to bring in your things. No luggage carts. Of course it was raining when we arrived, but at least it wasn't pouring!

Room wasn't exactly squeaky clean either, with a hair in the sink that wasn't ours, and a sticky substance on the table top. Worst thing to deal with was that the shower didn't work - the little thing you pull up to divert water to the shower head was frozen in place and wasn't budging. So it was a bath instead of a shower. Not my preference.

It is pet friendly ($20 fee). Has a very large grassy area right by the hotel, so that was good.

No breakfast offered, just coffee.

Price was very reasonable, but I think I'll pay more next time for something nicer

A little hidden gem! When we first arrived my husband and I were a little taken back by the looks and tried to cancel our reservation! We were unable to and were both exhausted so we thought we would talk to the staff! SO friendly. They let us look at our room before we even checked in. It was not fancy, but immaculate clean! We were traveling and just wanted a clean, quiet place to stay for the night! And that’s exactly what we got!

Absolutely awful. The entire hotel smelled like urine, the rooms were disgusting, the beds were extremely cheap and uncomfortable with stains on the sheets. I should have cancelled and driven 10 minutes up the road to somewhere else.

Off the beaten path GEM!

When we arrived at the hotel, we were not that impressed. It is not a big hotel, and from the outside it doesn't look like much. The check-in was reminiscent of an old, small, motel, However, the check-in was simple and very pleasant. When we entered the room, we were shocked and amazed at the cleanliness and condition of the room. The beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, and the shower and sink both had great water pressure. Everything worked and nothing was broken. If there was anything that could be improved upon, it would be to add a free hot breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is traveling thru the Marion, IL area.

One thing I learned after staying at this hotel was to not judge a book by its cover. Upon pulling up to the hotel, I was concerned. First, it is in a somewhat desolate area with very little around. Secondly, the sign off the highway looks as though a bomb went off in it. Lastly, the photograph on Expedia was not a good representation of what the actual exterior looks like. At night, the sign on the building has a lot of the lights burned out and overall, was not very inviting.

We ended up staying and were glad that we did. Once we got to our room, we found that it was much nicer than the exterior would have indicated. It was also very clean. You can tell that the owners had taken the time to ensure that the interior was well taken care of prior to addressing the exterior issues. They were in fact, redoing the outside of the building while we were there. It in no way impacted our stay.

The price for the rooms was very good considering how nice the interior was and mostly because the owners did such a great job in ensuring the rooms were clean. We really didn't notice any unclean areas in our room.

The only actions I would recommend the owners take is to replace the coffee machine. It looks pretty old and does not present itself well with the plastic being stained from many years of use. I would also recommend cleaning the windows from the outside. Those are minor issues.

Overall, I will definitely stay here again when I return to the area.

It’s an older place and you can tell they did some little repairs to the room but we didn’t care. Just a little get away for the night. Pillows were a little hard. Bed was comfy though. Quiet and air conditioner worked great so we were able to keep it nice and cool in there. Lady at the front desk was supper nice and helpful. Easy to check out. We just left our key in the box up front since there was no one at the desk since we had to leave so early. Was so much easier for us since we had to be up so early. Everything was very clean. Well taken care of.would stay again if we ever take a small trip like this again.

Are use Expedia only out of fear that using too many would create theft. This motel insist on keeping a copy of my credit card, which I used through you. I if she is keeping a copy of my credit card, there seems to be a problem of very big one now do these people intend on selling my credit card number later. Keeping a copy of my credit card number or charging a $100 fee or on top of the bill I pay to you is also not the answer.

The room was renovated and clean for the most part. There was a spider in the shower, ants, and a bee by the air conditioning. The biggest problem was our door didn’t lock!! We could lock it from the inside/outside. May the woman at the front desk aware of it, said it would be fixed, came back hours later, not done. Best thing about this place, the ice machine.

Very clean and quiet. Outside could use some curb appeal. Stayed 2 nights and first night we got smoked out by a cigarette smoker near by. Being 2 people with asthma was horrible and filled the hallway and our motel room. Second night was good. Had to pay $20 extra for dog which didn’t see that in contract when made reservations. Owner tan after us to collect the $40 for the dog lol!

Definitely recommend!

The room was clean. You can tell by the ceiling of the microwave. She put us in a suite with 2 queen beds furniture and a spa tub. It's an old building, with a vintage look to certain areas
(Its not a resort! Its a safe comfortable place to stay)
They are updating. There is painting, carpets and tiles that are being replaced. They were planting flowers when we arrived.
To me complaining about the place while it's being renovated, is the same as complIning the flowers weren't blooming yet.
