The property is dated, but adequate for a night. We had 2 rooms and the single room mattress was old and uncomfortable, but the second room with the 2 queens had updated newer mattresses and the people in our group that stayed there said they were comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was amazing, and the rooms were clean. I wouldn’t stay again only because of the uncomfortable bed, and we prefer an updated accommodation.

Picturesque building and decor, easy parking, friendly and attentive staff. Close to restaurants and grocery store. Room was generally clean but with some areas that needed cleaning. Basic amenities available and worked well, especially the heater!

Very clean and friendly management. It is such a pleasure to stay in an elegant, old-style, historic \"mansion' instead of another cookie-cutter concrete block that defines most modern hotels. And very nice to be able to walk to all attractions of Montebello. Very nice river views.

Our room had a lot of lady bugs, they came and vacuum it! The shower wasn't working properly, the AC is a split type and it was broken, the heat smelled fowl as soon as we turned it on. The TV didn't work. This hotel is simply outdated compared to all other hotels. It is well renovated from the outside though, and looked good!

Staff was nice and the hotel quiet.
The continental breakfast that is provided is very minimal and a bit disappointing.
The hotel looks nice on the photo, but when you get there it is dated. It’s supposed to look like an old auberge, but it looks more like they painted over some institutional building. It’s very tacky.

Pros:
- breakfast is excellent
- staff is very very friendly, particularly with kids (contrary to review I've read before)
- matress are very comfortable
- view on the river is beautiful
- location is perfect, walkable distance to grocery, stores and river

Cons:
- maintenance on property is not optimal (paint, patio, roof guards)
- pool is very dirty
- there is a lot of mold in the bathroom
- curtains are not blackout

The hotel and room were clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. However, room was dated: older uncomfortable bed, older smaller TV with limited channels, noisy window air conditioner, no grab bars in bathtub, cheap soap and shampoo, very thin toilet paper and tissues.

A place to put your head down. Would be nice to have ice available after hours. Our checkin could have been smoother since we had requested early arrival many days before and our room wasn't ready upon agreed time. Credit card information in written down by hand which could be a security issue.

The room needs some updating - a broken blind, very dark bed coverings.
It is very difficult to get to the pool and unsafe for those with mobility issues, unless you have a room on the lower level that opens to the pool.
Although the property wasn't fully booked, we were overlooking the parking lot rather than the river.
Location suited us for our purposes. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I don't like the fact there was no elevator, the hallway was very hot, wifi connection isn't good, old tv, old air conditioning,and the pool wasn't very clean. But the staff is very nice, the room is clean, not much choices for breakfast but it was fine.

Magnifique endroit avec personnel tres gentil et serviable
Très bon lit et belle chambre sauf dommage aucune poubelle de recyclage dans la chambre ou salle de bain
Et robinet du lavavo qui coulait un peu
Aussi café de ce type de petite cafetière pas très bon pour de vrai amateur de café mais excellent au déjeuner ainsi que les gaufres.

It's never fun to arrive at a place and see that it's for sale, but it is what it is. The couple running the place were welcoming and I wish them all the best in finding someone to run this old inn that has a lot of history, a building part of the Montebello town, and has soo much potential for growth.

I have mixed feelings about my stay at the Auberge. It began with my wife and I catching a terrible virus the week before our trip. When I called the property owner to change our reservation to the following week, he was extremely rude and did not want to help me at all. Expedia saved the day and I was able to reschedule the trip for a week later.
Once we arrived, the staff were amazing and were really kind and helpful.
The property is really clean and well maintained. The hotel is old, I man really old and it is starting to show, the owners seem tired and ready to give up (we got some real Faulty Towers feel with Basil and Sybil vibes). The rooftop terrace is a real shambles and the pool water was bright green.

Beautiful location, simple breakfast, staff was super helpful once at hotel. Again its clean, but tired and a little worn out.
Our king size bed was okay, but my wife and I couldn't get comfortable. The sheets on the bed were a poly/cotton mix I think...it was a bit odd.
Also, the auberge is up for sale and this could be the reason for our lack luster stay.
