The hotel is on an island with many miles of bike paths (along the water and adjacent to the vineyards). Stunning! They had decent bikes available for rent. The woman at the front desk in the afternoon/evening was a joy! Our room was nice and we had a private deck adjacent to the pool.

Still a lovely hotel....

Have stayed here several times now over several years. We decided to return this year with family.

The staff have always been very welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are always very clean and the hotel is always well presented. It's in a great location for exploring the island and heading back on to the mainland for the day.

We ate in the restaurant one evening - though a limited choice on the menu, it's cooked very well and worth a visit. We had breakfast there also one day, which was good.

Hoping to stay again when we return to that area.

Stayed 7 days in Rivedoux Plage area during the 1st week of September 2015. We hired bikes and explored the Island of Ile De Re & LA Rochelle with ease. Lots of things to do within easy reach by bike, bus or car. Lots of history, & places to visit. You are spoilt for choice for beaches on the island ile De Re
A definate family location.

Hotel 5minutes from the bridge

Lovely helpful staff, but not 24/7 reception. Warm clean pool and Jacuzzi outside the front of the hotel. There was a little traffic noise, but it didn't disturb you while relaxing. We hired cycles from the hotel and rode to the next small town for lunch. The hotel's restaurant food looked very good, but we took a 10 minute walk into the village to eat. The one thing missing was a bar within the hotel to get a drink or coffee. There was a coffee machine you could use, but the water container was green at the bottom! We would return for a short stay again.

Convenient and comfortable hotel.

Le Grande Large is a small but comfortable and convenient hotel. The accommodation was clean and the hotel staff friendly and helpful. There is a beach just across the road and the town is just five minutes walk away. For those people not keen on cycling everywhere there is a cheap and efficient bus service making it easy to get anywhere on the island. A nice pool, clean and not crowded. Would definitely return.

Only just on the island but a great place to stay!

Nice hotel with excellent staff. This hotel is only just on the island of Ile de Re but was a great place to stay as long as you don't want to be in the middle of everything. The pool looked great and family friendly but I am not a pool guy so didn't use it.

The restaurant was really good with excellent nouvelle cuisine and a good wine list. The service was most attentive although on the rainy Saturday night I ate there I was the only diner for most of my meal although by the time I left the place was very well patronised.

Secure parking for the motorcycle was appreciated as was the fuss-free, free and unlimited wifi access. The room was not totally up to date but was clean and well furnished with plenty of free grooming items in the bathroom, extra pillows and blankets and a really effective air-conditioner.

All this with the beach literally across the road and the whole of Ile de Re at your disposal makes it a great place to stay as long as you are prepared to drive or cycle to find the action(!) on the island.

Perfect for the beach

A warm welcome awaited us when we checked in. As the hotel was quiet we were upgraded to a sea-view room and it was lovely. The room was air conditioned and the king-sized bed, very comfortable. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom for our use. However, the shower was in/over the bath and it was a very small space to shower in. The water is lovely and soft. We had dinner in the adjacent Hotel owned restaurant and this was delicious but pricey. The Hotel is very conveniently situated at the end of the bridge connecting Ile de Re to la Rochelle and there is ample safe, free parking opposite the Hotel. There is a swimming pool & jaccuzzi but we did not use either.

Very welcoming receptionist, hotel spotlessly clean and situation good, facing the sea. The restaurant had a big terrace overlooking the sea. We read the hotel's literature saying the pool was open from April to September but when we arrived (April 6th) we were told it does not open until mid-April.

Ideal Beach-side Hotel

This is our 2nd stay at the Grande Large hotel on the island. Little has changed over the year. The pool area is still very nice and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful when needed. We ate at the restaurant on our first night but unfortunately the menu now didn't really offer the selection we had last year, which was a little disappointing but the food we did have was good. The walls to the rooms seem to be very thin, or we just had very noisy neigubours a few nights. However, I would still recommend the hotel and plan to stay again in the next few years.

Hotel in beautiful location overlooking the Atlantic. Would have preferred the hotel not to have been on a main road as had to cross to car park. Also would have preferred not having to go outside to get to the restaurant, food & service very good. Would visit again.

Fantastic hotel - perfectly located in the south east of the island, it makes seeing the rest of the island easy. The hotel staff were very friendly, the pool area was excellent, the hotels restaurant was excellent for the 2 evening meals we had. The island itself is fantastic with plenty of places to visit - Saint Martin De Re in particular.

The hotel is very well situated on the sea front. It is clean and comfortable, with the added bonus of a heated pool and jacuzzi. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and the hotel is a short walk from the town centre.

THIS HOTEL ONLY HAS 3 STARS BECAUSE OF ITS POOL ! The rooms are not at all good . They are much too small . A 3 star supplies enough towels and soap ..etc.. They did not even want to give a kettle(after asking !) Most of the time nobody can attend at reception ! I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS HOTEL ( but would be if I had paid half the price.

Great small hotel to relax

The hotel is fairly small and in a quiet area of Ile de Re. The staff were very friendly and helpful and managed to get us a room with more space as we were 2 single girls. The pool area was very relaxing and includes a spa and shade. Breakfast was a typical buffet with good quality produce. The restaurant at the hotel has really great food - fresh, interesting and not heavy - perfect for summer. It has a large deck area overlooking the water, making it a lovely place for lunch. I would go back!

Très bon hôtel avec piscine (libre accès) et jacuzzi (30min) . Personnel accueillant et agréable. Nous avions la chambre appellé \"cozy\". Très fonctionnelle, amplement suffisante. Je regrette l'absence de bouilloire et j'ai trouvé le lit un petit. Les murs ne sont pas très épais donc on entendait notre voisin ronfler durant 2 nuits.

Personnel à l'accueil extrêmement aimable. Propreté irréprochable.
Quelques réserves cependant : notre chambre était située juste en haut de l'escalier à droite au dessus de réception. Beaucoup de bruit car mauvaise insonorisation. Toilettes très exigües dignes de toilettes pour enfants.
Buffet de petit déjeuner correct hormis les couvercles des plateaux pas du tout pratiques et surtout pourquoi nous imposer BFM tv quand nous sommes en week-end pour nous reposer ??? Bizarre pour un 3 étoiles.
Merci pour l'accès gratuit 30 minutes au jacuzzi.

Je recommande pour un week-end en couple

Nous sommes arrivés le matin avec mon mari. Nous avons eu la chance que notre chambre soit déjà prête. Julien a été un hôte parfait, très aimable et accueillant. Il nous a fait conseillé des itinéraires de pistes cyclables. L'hôtel a un parking privé payant et un parking à vélos gratuit. Des parkings gratuits sont disponibles autour, dont un juste en face de l'hôtel. C'est dans celui qu'on a laissé notre voiture tout le w-e sans problème.
Nous avions réservé une chambre Cosy. Elle était effectivement un peu petite mais suffisante pour un couple. Elle était très propre également. Le placard était assez grand pour pouvoir y placer nos affaires. Le lit était très confortable.
La douche manquait peut-être un tout petit peu de pression. Nous avons eu un peu de mal à trouver un juste milieu entre l'eau très chaude et l'eau très froide. Les toilettes étaient aussi un peu étroites. Mais elles n'auraient pas pu être plus grandes vu la taille de la chambre.
Nous étions au rez-de-chaussée. L'insonorisation est effectivement à revoir. Si la porte séparant l'accueil du couloir des chambres n'est pas fermée, on entend tout ce qui se passe à l'accueil (ça résonne). On entend également ce qui se passe dans la chambre à côté, notamment quand la douche et les toilettes sont utilisées.
En résumé, je recommande pour un week-end en amoureux. Le plus de l'hôtel : le personnel qui est aux petits soins.

Nous y avons séjourné à 4 au mois de mai (encore en basse saison)
Le positif: La piscine est bien. Petit balcon tranquille. Central. Pas loin de la gare. Personnel sympa.
Le négatif: Un peu déçu de l’état de la chambre. Il y avait de la rouille sur le réfrigérateur. Les finitions de la chambre n’étaient pas parfaites.
Je le recommande tout de même.

Chambre confort très décevante : lit en 140, salle de bain pour PMR, dysfonctionnement de la climatisation. Aucune solution proposée par le personnel de l’accueil lors de l’information de ses dysfonctionnements. Nous sommes d’autant plus déçus que nous étions venus dans ce même établissement il y a un an et tout avait été très bien… et c’est pour cela que nous avions décidé de revenir. Pas sûr que nous renouvelions l’expérience une 3ème fois.

Séjour en couple, 1 nuit.

Positif :
- La piscine extérieur est superbe avec le jacouzi très agréable
- La propreté est irréprochable
- Le personnel est très serviable

Négatif :
- Le lit est une planche de bois !!! Très mal dormi.
- La climatisation fait un bruit énorme, avec comme des gouttelettes 10 min par heures..
- Une chambre standard, vu sur l’arrière cour (autant dire les poubelles du restaurant)
- Balcon 1 personne, un peu juste.

L’extérieur est très bien entretenu, nous n’avons pas tester le petit déjeuner et le restaurant.Pour le prix d’une chambre, une nuit la qualité du lit est impensable et la clim beaucoup trop bruyante, dommage.
Rien à dire sur la propreté.

Charmant petit hôtel bien situé (plages à proximité, proche des commerces, bus) animé par une équipe jeune et super sympa, très professionnelle et attentionnée.
Belle piscine chauffée, parking privé sécurisé ( avec supplément), petite chambre standard bien équipée, 2 formules de petit déjeuner, propreté irréprochable et literie top.
Le restaurant est pour nous un des meilleurs de Rivedoux-Plage voire de l’Ile de Ré.
C’était notre première venue sur l’île, et nous avons adoré...l’hôtel a contribué à notre avis positif sur cette destination. Nous espérons vivement y revenir.

L hôtel est très propre et très moderne. Nous avions une chambre familiale vue mer qui etait superbe. Très belle déco et très propre et moderne. Niveau 4 étoiles. L accueil est au top. La piscine est chauffée et trèd propre.Je conseille cet hôtel. L unique petit point negatif est proximité avec la route très fréquentée.

La chambre est très bruyante à cause de la proximité de la route, on entend beaucoup la douche des voisins, la vmc est ancienne...
Le ménage de notre chambre n'a pas été fait correctememt: les serviettes étaient changées, les produits de bains rajoutés mais les draps n ont pas été suffisamment changés et le sol de la salle de bain et de la chambre ainsi que la douche n ont été nettoyés que 2 fois en une semaine.
De plus la chambre est vraiment vieillotte et petite. Il n y a pas de place pour ranger sa valise. Le lavabo est à hauteur d'enfant, ce qui oblige à se plier en deux pour se voir dans le miroir. Nous pensions trouver une baignoire, nous avons eu droit à une douche avec rideau en plastic.
Nous ne recommandons pas cet hôtel.

la patronne a eu un différent avec des jeunes qui étaient à un mariage et étaient rentrés le matin un peu bruyamment.
Si on peut comprendre son agacement, la vulgarité et l'exagération des propos dont nous avons été témoins nous ont vraiment choqués et étaient indignes d'un trois étoiles.
Elle a également commis l'erreur de mettre dehors un jeune couple qui n'était pas concerné! Navrant!

Avons passé 5 nuits dans cet Hotel, très bon accueil, très bien entretenu, la chambre côté cour est petite, il vaut mieux réserver côté mer avec balcon. Le restaurant est parfait, plats raffinés, les petits déjeuners sont copieux avec produits de qualité. En revanche Rivedoux est une ville sans grand intérêt, les communes avoisinantes telles La Flotte se trouve à 5mn en voiture.

Petite chambre pour gros prix.

Mis à part le parc en face de l'hôtel et la mer, le fait que l'hôtel se trouve sur la route principal de l'Ile de Ré engendre le bruit dès l'aube. De plus une très mauvaise insonorisation entre les chambres donnait le sentiment que le voisin prenait sa douche dans votre chambre. La chambre est beaucoup trop petite et peu confortable. Confort assez spartiate.

Le grand Large : â ne pas manquer !

Accueil sans pareil, personnel que ce soit la patronne, les dames qui font le ménage, les serveurs au restaurant : très très bien. Le couchage est excellent avec de très grands lits. La piscine est chauffée et on vous prête d'une serviette de bain, ce qui est une très gentille attention. Quant au petit déjeuner, vous choisissez le continental à 8 euros ( petit déjeuner sucré ) ou le petit déjeuner - buffet à 12 euros où là vous avez salé ( œuf, charcuterie, fromages, ) fromage blanc , riz au lait, céréales, viennoiseries, pain , brioche, salade de fruits frais, beurre, confiture etc...

Prenez le (Grand) Large en toute sécurité !

Tout est parfait : hôtel très propre de même que la piscine et le jakusi. Le personnel est au petit soin pour vous et en plus est très aimable, souriant et fort sympathique, que ce soit à la réception, dans la salle du petit déjeûner ou dans le restaurant.
Excellent séjour dans une chambre avec vue sur la mer, (une petite route passe devant mais ce n'est pas génant)où le ménage, fait très discrètement, est à la hauteur de cet hôtel 3 étoiles dont nous garderons un excellent souvenir.
Nous y reviendrons sans nul doute.

Hôtel en bord de mer mais en bordure de route, donc plutôt bruyant lorsque vous êtes au bord de la piscine ou sur votre balcon.
Chambre vue mer confortable, bémol pour le balcon riquiqui! (il ne faut pas être gros, difficile de passer entre la porte fenêtre et la table), même chose pour les toilettes (il faut se plaquer contre la cuvette pour sortir des toilettes)
Gros bémol pour la piscine et le jacuzzi! Piscine très froide pourtant sensée être chauffée (??), jacuzzi très bien mais sur deux nuits nous n'avons pu en profiter qu'une fois le matin, l'après-midi il était vidé et le lendemain l'eau était froide!
Étant donné le prix de la chambre, nous sommes en droit d'attendre de pouvoir profiter pleinement des services de l'hôtel puisque nous y mettons le prix! A ce moment là, autant choisir un hôtel dépourvu de piscine et moins cher puisque nous n'en avons pas profité!
Donc pour l'hôtel rapport qualité/prix décevant.
Par contre pour le restaurant rien à redire. Produits de qualité, plats excellents! Service de qualité, personnel accueillant. Rapport qualité/prix très bon. Vraiment très bon restaurant!

Grazioso hotel fronte mare

hotel carino abbastanza pulito e le camere (più costose) vista mare godono di una belle vista sul mare.
problema grande sono i materassi dei letti, di bassissima qualità. confort aggravato da teli di plastica applicati come copertura degli stessi che li rendono veramente insopportabili. Peccato, poiché per il resto ne vale la pena

Quite nice hotel, quite clean and the rooms (more expensive) see side have a really nice sight.
The big problem are mattresses, really low quality. the confort is worsened from plastic cloth applied as coverage that make them really unbearable. Pitty because the rest is really worth

Hôtel agréable face à la mer. Génial!!!

Trés bien pour notre séjour avec nos amis. Il manque un bar car les consos sont un peu chères au tarif resto. Nous reviendrons. Cordialement

A l'entrée de l'île, face à la plage,super!

Situation exceptionnelle à l'entrée de l'île, chambres très propres et très confortables, avec accès direct à la piscine chauffée , plages en face de l'hôtel, toutes les conditions sont requises pour passer un séjour parfait. J'y reviendrai avec plaisir
