Room was extremely noisy, you could hear everything outside on the street as if the window was open (people and street works). Noise went on until about 2 am and started again at 6 am. It doesnt matter how nice the room or hotel is if you cant get any sleep....

Staff very helpful and nice, rooms small but that is old town Zurich so expected. Breakfast good with variety. Cofffe and tea available all the time and even apples offered throughout the hotel. Very central in old town Zurich. Parking very difficult, but again expected in such a place. Again, staff helpful to help parking.

Location, location, location. The hotel is located in the heart of Old Town and within walking distance to all main areas. 10-15 min walk to the main train station.
Staff was friendly too.
There was construction outside the hotel but it's out of their control as we saw construction going on around all over Old Town area.

Delicious American breakfast included. Room size typical for Europe. Free water (sparkling/still) & coffee in lobby 24/7. Steps to restaurants for every taste. Clean, clean, clean.

Staff at this hotel were awesome! As a tourist didn’t speak the language and had never been to Zürich before, they were so helpful! Loved the availability of fresh bean brewed coffee, and the location in the old town. Near a tram stop and Christmas market. Very convenient. Loved it.

We had two stays at Hotel and experienced two different rooms. Both rooms had an unpleasant smell - seemed like the smell was from past cigarette smoking. The rooms were small and did not seem to have great air circulation. The hotel has a great location and staff were very helpful. Breakfast was also good, though the breakfast room was small for the number of guests.

I think the information contained on Hotels.com is misleading. I booked this hotel, because the website made me believe that there was an airport shuttle available from the hotel. We could have taken the train to the airport, but it was raining and we didn't want to drag our suitcases. We ended up taking an Uber, which was unexpected cost.

Very impressed with this hotel. We booked a twin room and arrived around midnight to a friendly and efficient welcome.

The room was a good size and the complementary first stocking of the mini-bar was a pleasant surprise. There's also a hot drinks machine in reception that's available for use.

Lots of towels, comfortable bed and a good shower, though I cut my leg on the sharp corners of the beds - so beware of those!

Breakfast was complementary and offered a good, well-stocked selection of all the usual items. Overall, much better than a standard 3* hotel and I'd return again.

Average property but not worth the price. Shower head didn’t work majority of the time, air conditioning doesn’t blow any cool air, and the beds are as hard as a rock. The only redeeming quality is the location. Will not be staying at this location again with the many other options in the same area.

The hotel is located in the old town section of Zurich, surrounded by restaurants and shops. If you have a car then you need to reserve a space ahead of time, for a fee, if spot is available. Otherwise, you have to locate a parking lot, for a fee.

The hotel is centrally located in a very walkable area with shopping & dining options. Central train station nearby. It is a basic hotel. It was clean & safe. Air conditioning was not working during our visit in March which is fine if you open the windows. The issue is that the noise from the bars, restaurants & cars won't let you sleep with the windows open. Breakfast was basic & satisfactory. I found it pricey for what it was, but everything is Zurich is expensive. Overall, clean, central, convient hotel.

This would have to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The 2 rooms we booked for 2 nights were not the rooms that were allocated to us. We were allocated rooms that would normally fit a single bed. Our rooms had a queen bed shoved up against a wall with only one table lamp attached to a desk area and no bedside tables. When we spoke to the receptionist, Laura, to discuss our concerns about the rooms we had booked, we were met with a very defensive and aggressive response from her advising us that the rooms were in their category and that we needed to do better research because the rooms advertised on Expedia were not their rooms. When I checked the hotel's website the rooms we booked were the same as the rooms advertised on the Expedia website. Laura's excuse for putting us in these youth hostel, dorm style rooms was that it was the same category. We're we eventually moved to a room consistent with the advertised room, and our booking, for our second night but they could not or would not move the other couple we were travelling with. This hotel is deceitful, untrustworthy and I would not recommend staying at this hotel under any circumstances. The treatment we received ruined our Zurich experience.

Perfect Location in Zurich!

Hotel Alexander is the most perfect hotel for a short stay in Zurich. Less than 10 mins walk from the main train station and right in the heart of the old town so perfect for exploring if you have limited time in Zurich as part of a larger trip. Super friendly and helpful staff. I was worried this might be a bit basic from the photos on the booking site, but needn't have worried, it was extremely clean, comfortable and a perfect base. Best pillow I had on the whole trip and also the best scrambled eggs I had all trip! Would definitely recommend and will definately come back again next time I'm in Zurich. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Parking is an adventure. Expecting to find parking at the hotel, I circled the block a few times trying to figure out what I was overlooking. I finally found somewhere to park and walk to the hotel. The staff was very nice, but I was instructed to pull in front of the hotel to unload our bags, then someone would show us where to park. The lady who rode with me and took me to the garage with the elevator I had to drive into was very nice. The man who took me back to get my car at the end of my stay was not particularly friendly, nor was he patient as I tried to drive a rental car I wasn’t exceedingly familiar with, into an elevator that felt like it barely fit.
The hotel itself was nice though and in a good location.

Good solid hotel conveniently located in the old part of the city. Walking distance for shopping, restaurants and sites. They have museums passes, no charge. Great friendly staff that are extremely helpful. The rooms are clean and in good repair.
They do have free parking.

Outside of my room was noisier than Oxford Circus, drunk people fighting and shouting until 2 AM requiring three separate phone calls to reception. I got zero sleep. I honestly have never stayed in a hotel with such continuous and unreasonable noise for so long, leaving me exhausted the next day.

Excellent and helpful staff. Mr. Marc helped us with a few sightseeing plans and informed us about the local transportation ( trams ). The visit to zurich was successful due to this. Nice coffee machine in the lobby. Good breakfast. The room size is a bit smaller than other places, but it did not matter much. We are happy that we stayed there.

Hotel is in a good location close to the main train station and river. Decent breakfast. Lots of restaurants and shopping right outside the hotel. I arrived early and was able to check in right away which was very nice. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Room is fairly small but suitable for sleeping. Bed was fairly comfortable. Room was clean however there was a strange clicking sound coming from the wall in my room which was annoying and quite concerning. After travelling all night I just wanted to sleep so I didn't see if there was another room available. When booking with Expedia, this is a VIP hotel. I did not receive any of the VIP benefits (ex. free room upgrade).

We stayed here for the location as it was walkable to old town, Zurich HB, and many other points of interest. So for location, it was great. For sleep on the other hand, choose somewhere else. We seriously underestimated the noise that we would hear in the room until 2am and then starting around 7:30am we’d hear noise from workers in the street. They gave us earplugs but the only way to reduce it is to close the window and then the room got really hot and stuffy (even in October when we stayed it was hot with the window closed). Staff was friendly, lobby had coffee/water fill station, and breakfast was fine as well. All in all, if we had gotten better sleep, it would have been an awesome stay.. but if street noise would bother you at night, be mindful of the bars open right around it.

Other than the wonderful man who helped us carry our bags 2 blocks when our driver couldn't find the hotel🤔...reception frosty by Laura, ugly room w a view of garage ( we refused it and moved to a corner room w at least a peak of street/to very. No help w bags, no extras, loved the walking location to let cal cafes, etc which is why we chose it
Ok brkfst buffet but to be fair tail end of a fab Tauck Tour 12 days lthru Switzerland at great properties we were let down for our final 2 nites on our own before flying back to Boston. ( had spent 3 days on Geneva on own before ...would return for more time in this beautiful country but not a great last few days, alas)...and we are friendly, seasoned travelers.
Did get friendly smiles from other employees, btw. Gorgeous 2 weeks in Switzerland overall

Excellent location, walk to main train station and dozens of restaurants and cafes next to hotel. Room was small Europeans style, very comfortable and quiet. Excellent breakfast options included, eggs, bacon, sausages, breads, cheeses, meats, yoghurt etc. Front desk staff Katrina was super helpful and friendly. Hotel had plug converters for free to use to charge phones, and also free wifi hot spots to take when out in the city.

The beds are hard (some ppl like that though), the front desk girl did not smile once, and I didn’t understand how the AC worked but that was my fault for not asking. The screenplay/screen mirroring also did not work. Other than that it was clean, the free breakfast was yummy and a plus, and the location can’t be beat. Overall had a good stay!

I felt the a/c was not cooling enough and they inmediately placed a fan in our room which helped to circulate the cool air. So I must recognize they have very good service. A great Swiss experience! Room was quite tiny but very cozy & comfortable. Breakfast was also in a smaller room with a smaller array of options, but all were delicious & plenty enough to satisfy your hunger! Location was our favorite, nestled in a lively, bubbly yet extremely safe environment. Less than 10 minute walk from the train station and beautiful views in every direction. Definitely recommend Hotel Alexander!

This hotel is a small hotel tucked into a cobblestone street in the center of Zurich. It is a pretty basic hotel with small rooms, and pretty expensive for what it is, but its location is excellent, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, and it was clean. I would not say it’s ideal if you’re planning to spend a lot of time in the room or you expect fancy amenities, but it certainly is convenient and pleasant as a place to stay if you intend to be out and about.
