We stayed here for a night on our tour of Bulgaria and Romania. It was conveniently located, was modern and very clean. The room didn't have great sound insulation but the others in the hotel were quiet so we never had an issue. We just noted it when we were in the room that we could hear people outside quite well. Otherwise, it was a nice hotel and the staff was very attentive.

Family of 4 stayed here August 2025. The room was excellent, just be aware I don’t think there is an elevator (I may be wrong). The character of the building with Byzantine-era walls was outstanding. Good breakfast. EXCELLENT location for Old Town Plovdiv. Staff was super-helpful with sorting parking. Great communication prior to the stay. 10/19 - highly recommended! (Reviewed by 55-y.o. experienced traveler w/ teenagers from US).

There are recommendations for local restaurants, which me and my partner did try and could not fault. If anyone is interested in the history of the house you can find a lot of interesting information about it on the last pages about the building of the house and its history in the past.
The location is perfect, as it's located right between Kapana and the Old Town of Plovdiv.
The staff were very friendly and although there wasn't any parking available in the surrounding car parks, the staff were able to find a space for me on the street in front of the hotel.

Despite the fact the room we had booked originally was taken by other guests for our extra night, the staff were able to find another room for us. It is hard and rare to find a gem like this. Clean, modern with authentic touch, wonderful staff, comfortable beds and cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was also great with lots of healthy options and some local sourced fresh produce. Staff were extremely kind, helpful and friendly, check in was easy and well organised. Two nights in February. Prior to arriving I had made contact with staff who arranged a pick up from the airport. Nothing as too much for them , very friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfect located just inside the pedestrian area of the old time and less than 2 minute walk from the main bars, restaurants area too. Anyone going to Plovdiv I would happily recommend the Hillhouse hotel.

Positive Surprise in Plovdiv!
Usually when I stay at a hotel in Bulgaria, I’m used to it advertising X stars and actually being 0.5 to 1 star LESS than that. This is the first time I’ve been so significantly surprised in a good way. I think this advertises as a 4 star when really this is a 4.5 to 5 star hotel. Awesome breakfast, awesome location, super friendly staff, beautiful hotel. If I was forced to pick a con it would be no elevator and you have to find free street parking (neither of which were an issue for us). If you are staying in Plovdiv Old Town, this is your hotel!

What a gem! Beautiful, super clean place. Great taste in decor, quality amenities. Customer service above and beyond. I'm on my 3rd night here and I'm so imoressed and glad I booked this place. Great job at running this place and keeping it amazing! Plus this is 5 minutes walk from the Ancient theatre and 3 minutes from the ancient stadium! Can't get better than this!

Hill House is located in the beautiful Plovdiv Old Town. It is a modern hotel with bright, clean rooms, air conditioning, wet-room style showers and it’s own restaurant for breakfast. I appreciated that the hotel called me personally to let me know how to access the hotel as I had to check in very late at night. The breakfast is nice, although I’d appreciate a vegan option on the menu. The staff are really nice and it’s a comfortable stay in a modern style motel.

Go ahead and stop your search for the perfect hotel in Plovdiv, because you just found it! We booked one night and then stayed on for 3 more nights. The hotel is charming, clean, with super comfy beds, and great breakfast. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming with a playful spirit. We learned that the wall in the restaurant was actually part of the old city wall. As for location, you simply can't get better! It is in the old town near all of the ruins, the street of traditional crafts, and a stones throw from kapan, which is full of indie cafes and bars.

The outside pays homage to the distinct culture of Old Town Plovdiv, while the inside presents clean lines, detail oriented decorating, and all around comfort. It’s located in the center of Plovdiv putting you within walking distance to most things you’ll likely want to visit. Enough can’t be said about the staff and their kindness.
