Loved out stay at this hotel and restaurant on our final day in the Lakes. We stayed in Scafell Pike with the only negative being the room was very hot (we stayed in late Aug). We would definitely stay there again.

Amazing!!

Lovely clean, comfortable, friendly, welcoming hotel in an amazing setting.
Room was perfect. Even had a mini fridge to keep your milk in. There was flapjacks and a bottle of beer in the room to enjoy. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked with local ingredients.
We will book again.

A lovely country Inn serving great food. Our double room was spacious and very comfortable. There are circular walks directly from the hotel that we sadly didn’t have time to try out, but this only serves as a good reason to come again!

We've just spent a lovely week at the Queen's Head at Troutbeck, Windermere. Lovely staff. Great food. Just near enough Windermere without being in the hustle and bustle and easy walks right from the door! We hope to return again soon.

Beautiful location. Lovely room, clean, modern but still traditional. Staff all extremely friendly and very helpful. Room was very hot and the mini fridge was rather loud but they’re not even complaints, just notes. Air con and a proper fridge and would be absolutely perfect.

My wife and I enjoyed a two night b and b stay at this lovely hotel with dinner on the first night. Although parts of the building are Elizabethan the inside decor is quite modern with extensive use of wood.
The dining area around the bar is very attractive. The food was good and our waiter was very pleasant. A very good breakfast was enjoyed at a lovely table in the bar area.
Our bedroom was lovely and the en suite was a wet room which was great. For some reason it was a little bit too warm despite a cooling fan but steps are in place to sort this out.
Altogether a very pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings and we look forward to returning sometime soon.

Overnight stay

Travelled up to Windermere for a Wedding and booked a room for an overnight stay. Arrived at the hotel and breezed through check in and were taken to our room by a friendly member of staff. The room (Skiddaw) was excellent and clean. Had dinner in the restaurant and the food was really good too. Had a great nights sleep and a hearty breakfast in the morning. Perfect place to stay and would recommend.

The hotel is based around a pub, that gives you a real feel of country British. Log fires, oak beams set the scene for a lovely setting to stay and dine.
The room was lovely, featuring a comfy bed, tv and adequate bathroom.

The rooms, hotel, service and menus were great.
We only had two issues. The room we were in must be above the kitchen washroom-we we’re kept awake by loud music, shouting and repeated loins banging but we were also in bed early for an early mountain start the next day.
The hotel catered for me as a celiac. However the allergens menus did not match what the staff said was safe to eat. I was also given a meal with non GF sausages and was glad I checked because I would have been very ill if I had eaten it.
Also breakfast didn’t start until 830 which meant we couldn’t get the early start we wanted for our planned route.
otherwise the hotel, staff and location was lovely with some really nice little touches with fresh milk and a treat box for the dogs. Is worth a visit and stay.

This was only a mild problem and difficult to remedy in bad weather.

Fab 5 night stay…

Lovely 5 night stay at the Queens Head. Great location to either walk from or explore the lakes. Dogs really are treated like royalty! Breakfast was excellent and room was really good too. Special callout for Andi and Ashleigh and Milo the Jack Russell (and his owner!).

Beautiful Inn with Lakeland themed rooms - ours was spacious, clean and comfortable. Fresh milk as part of tea tray a welcome detail. Stunning location with great walks from the door. Freshly cooked breakfast from a varied menu to set you up for a day exploring and a warm fireside welcome in a well stocked bar on your return. Wide choice of food with daily specials during the evening; excellent quality and value served by friendly happy staff. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely couple of days at the queens head the staff were attentive and friendly.
Nice atmosphere in the pub .
Good pub food .
The only negative comment would be the plumbing you could hear every one else’s shower squeaking and rumbling first in hing in a morning and I think the bath/shower could do with updating.
Overall a really lovely pleasant accommodation

Good bed and breakfast but disappointing dinner.

I liked the hotel and found the bed and breakfast part of the visit very good, but that's what you would expect for a room in the £150-200 price bracket. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated but on a hot day was rather warm at night, no air conditioning. The breakfast was excellent.
The staff generally were friendly and helpful.

The dinner however was very disappointing. We were assured of a table at check in but no record when we duly arrived to eat. As they were fully booked they found us a small table.

Seafood linguine costing £17.50 was quite greasy and lacking in much seafood. What really surprised though was that of the 4 mussels placed decoratively on the plate one was closed ie not cooked or a bad one. Why would a trained chef serve it. Just a freak oversight apart from when I mentioned it to the waitress another diner who overheard said she had the same! Then my wife's chips were all overcooked and a third of them burnt. Well these things happen but why would you serve it rather than put them in the bin. The waitress was made aware of these but there was no feedback, no offer to reduce the bill, nothing. Every business falls short sometime and it's how they deal with it that makes the difference. Sort a complaint well and you have a customer for life, don't do anything.....
I'm just so surprised to have such a poor experience in a place that generally gets good reviews.

We felt completely safe The rooms etc were spotless and all necessary Covid guidelines were in place. Staff really welcoming and service was good. Very comfy beds and pillows . Everything you needed was provided. Only disappointment was one of the meals on the second evening, Lamb shank not cooked enough. However would recommend the hotel to stay without hesitation.

We stayed in Scarfell Pike room. The En-suite is insufficiently ventilated. The walls stayed wet and everything left in the bathroom would remain damp. The bedroom itself was very nice and comfortable although it only housed a very small window with limited opening capability. This didn't help with the ventilation either so we felt we had to keep the bathroom door closed to prevent damp from being transferred to the bedroom.
We would have mentioned this on checkout but at no point were we asked if we had a pleasant stay.

We didn’t arrive until 4.30pm but our room wasn’t ready ! When we did get in there was things in the toilet bin that did not belong to us. Apart from that all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room I wouldn’t say was deluxe but the quality of bed linen was very good

Last minute overnight trip that was intended to be just me and my husband. However we tried to amend the booking online to add a child bed but it said they were full. When we mentioned this on check in the manager was super helpful and sorted out a z bed in a matter of minutes so we could include our daughter (who is at the local boarding school) to join us. We had a fab evening meal and delicious breakfast. Service and accommodation excellent. Highly recommend.

A lovely little getaway in such a beautiful location. Honestly couldnt fault it, the hotel is right in the heart of the lakes and such a good access point to some incredible scenery. Highly recommended. The modern country pub style was on point and the rooms were styled equally as tasteful. The shower was very hot, perfect after a long day in all weathers. A comfortable bed, and nice view out over the valley. Will definitely be back!
