In the name of eco mindedness, there is not much service. We told front desk that our bathroom sink has bad drainage, water would fill up sink and drains super slow, plus our drinking water tank is almost empty, yet nothing happened. Location of hotel is great though with front view of the sea.

Nice Ryokan, a little old but a very nice place to rest for the night. Right by the coast so good access to water and the rooms tub had a sea view. Close by is the dining/shopping area around Beppu station which was nice, and we had a car to get to the further places of interest.

We might hesitate to stay again in the future. The windows desperately need mosquito nets! We opened them to let some air in and also while having a private onsen and spent the first night hunting down all the little bugs that got in. Even now my partner and I are still battling the bites. The private onsen also needs a good clean and repaint. The water and tub were fantastic but the room it’s in is a little gross looking in the light.

Booked this hotel specifically for the private onsen experience. I was aware prior booking that the hotel is old and based on reviews and pictures, the hotel seem to have made improvements and maintained good quality standard.

To my disappointment the bath/private onsen in our room was way off from the picture advertised. There was mold on the walls, on the sliding door..every where including where the water comes and also drain. we we’re exhausted from a long trip to get to this property looking forward to relaxing bath ..which we did not get due to probably health hazards for having that amount of mold everywhere.

Did not like:
- I did not feel comfortable with the staff. They would not even try to speak Japanese to me, even though I replied in Japanese to them. Neither Japanese nor English is my native language, but I want to speak Japanese while in Japan, and have had many wonderful experiences doing so
-It's one thing switching, 勝手に, to English as a default, it's another thing rushing customers in, then from one place to the other (temperature-measuring stand, hand-disinfecting stand, proper check-in, amenity, elevator), using gestures and isolated words, as a substitute for language. Politeness is lost in the process. From the first to the last second I was in that hotel, I felt not welcomed. I do understand that the lobby was crowded at check-in, but it never got better
- The main window in my room did not close properly. All night, I could feel a flow of cold air on every part of my body that was not shrouded by the (otherwise warm) futon. The room never really got warm. Under normal circumstances, I would have contacted the front desk before even going to bed, but based on my previous interactions I felt the interaction would go terribly
- A bit more to say, but no characters left. Nothing really bad, but still. Two words : look elsewhere

Great ryokan. We paid for half-board, so dinner and breakfast were included. Typical kaiseki dinner. Rooftop bath was amazing. The public baths overlook the sea and provides an incredible view. On the men's side there are two baths indoor, one hot and one cold. There's also a dry sauna and an outdoor bath.

Generally the property looks quite good, the only problem is the shower is unstable. The hot water runs in readily weak and if you have long hair you wouldn’t be able to wash it. The amenities are ok, the only thing I see is there are stains on the hot water kettle.

Staffs are awesome, they helped us park the car to the closest spot just next to the door and helped us carry the heaviness luggage. Good if you are going with small kids.

The breakfast is excellent, the place is very convenient too; close to 7-11, Beppu station and the mall, bus station to buy your ticket for a one day pass to see all the attractions of Beppu city. Nice staff with free water on our floor, so glad I brought my Swell bottle. I would recommend this hotel to my friends for the room and the breakfast, proximity to JR station.

The hotel is about 15 mins walk with luggage from the train station. It's on seafront, and the hot spa bath can enjoy the Seaview, and I had two morning watching beautiful sunlight from there.
The staff at reception and restaurant were very courteous and you feel the traditional Japanese charm.
Room is spacious and very traditional Japanese style, though it's showing its age a bit; it's clean and tidy.
The hotel has a gym though I didn't have used it.
The breakfast was a full Japanese one, and it's a worthy experience to have.

The front desk service was excellent and the room was really luxurious. It's located right next to the sea so it gets pretty windy. Quite a walk from Beppu Station but you can take bus number 26 and it will take you to the nearest bus stop. You still have to walk for about 5 mins though. All in all, a quiet and nice place to chill for a day.

However I was excited to go to the outside bath, but it was actually kinda small and and couldn't try it. Our room has onsen with seaview. Room was clean except the open air onsen looks a bit dirty; but you may say it’s old because of the wood only. Walking distance to many local restaurants. The reception spoke perfect English and helped us find eating options close by as we checked in late.
The hotel is really close to bus station drop-off of bus route from Oita Airport.
We had a great onsen and tatami bed experience. Sunrise was great from the room too as the hotel is right on the waters edge.
We could have easily stayed longer than one night to explore the vicinity more.

Service staff are top-notched, rushing up help with unloading of the luggages and bringing up to the room. They have good English speaking staff who is very clear and patient. They have both indoor and outdoor onsens -male and female are separated. The bathroom in the room is also linked with hot spring water. So you can your own private onsen in the room.

We actually went to a hot spring before we checked in, but I wish we hadn't because this hotel has two of them inside with beautiful views of the entire bay. I would definitely stay here again!

There's a small outdoor onsen, looking over the ocean. There's a charge of ¥150/person (over 11 yrs old) for onsen. Parking charges ¥540/night.

I booked this so-called ocean view delux Japanese Styled room but the view tho facing the sea but was more looking at a disused park and construction sand bags strewn across the area.

The room looks tired & old, so were the furnishings. There was no ocean view bath that I have booked either. Rejected the room had to argue our way to an upgrade to a higher floor (only 1 floor up)with slightly better bath room which they wanted to charge us 6000 yen extra per person! It was just no way we could have agreed to that. Had to summon the manager before it was agreed of a room change. Avoid this hotel!

Relaxing Ryoken and Onsen

Room is quite large, even by American hotel standards, but definitely by Japanese standards. We had the traditional room, which was two chambers with tatami mats. The staff puts out futons in the evening to sleep on. We were able to stack up several to make beds more suited to our soft American bodies.

Staff was very friendly--they actually went and got some over-the-counter allergy medicine when my daughter had an unexpected reaction to shrimp at our first dinner.

We went for the included breakfast and dinner options and were not disappointed. Meals were traditional Japanese meals with lots of fish but everything was very tasty.

Location is near the \"Spa beach\", which is a small beach and a pretty park, and within easy walking distance of the main shopping area and the train station (where there is a nice supermarket and other shops).

We used the outdoor onsen (hot springs pool) and it was quite nice--you can watch the sun come up if you're an early riser.

We stayed 3 nights, 2 with breakfast only and the last night with half board. The breakfast was different every day but was somewhat repetitive. The Kaiseki meal was executed with great care, presentation with delicious and generous portions. The seaview room is worth every bit more and the massage chair was an added benefit! Will return! The onsen is small but it's a small hotel which has it perks.

This ryokan is located close to Kitahama bus terminal. Easy to access downtown and local market. About 5 mins walk to JR Beppu station. And try takoyaki and fried chicken at Ontako opposite to one department store. Serve super slow, but really yum.

Awesome place to stay at Beppu. About 8-10mins walking from Beppu JR Station. If you don't like walking. Taxi ride is 640 yen one way. The hotel provide meal for Traditional Japanese Breakfast and Dinner. However, there are plenty of other restaurants nearby. The hotel build is dated but it's well kept. The staffs are super friendly.

The hotel is very strictly about the check in and check out time . We arrived 15 mins to 3pm( 15mins early to check in) they won't allow us to check in until it's time . And when check out , we are 15mins late they locked the fridge from the central system and called us 3times to check out. The food were good the furniture in the rooms are very old not well maintainance. Public onzen on the top roof are very small.

Great time in Beppu

The hotel was very easy to find. We took a bus to get to it, got off on the main street and walked about 5 minutes. The staff were waiting for us and greeted us at the door.

We were then checked in and escorted to our room by one of the staff while discussing the facilities available at the hotel.

The room was very large by Japanese standards and everything was very clean and tidy. Didn't have much a view since we got a city view room so it was facing the rear lane way.

The staff ask you to hand in your room key before you leave the hotel so they can prepare your tatami beds. When we returned everything was set up for us.

Breakfast the next morning was included and excellent! It pretty much consisted of a full Japanese breakfast, parts of which were prepared fresh after you sat down at the table.

Overall the hotel was great! If you go there during the summer and wake up early make sure to take a walk along the sea wall, great views of the sunrise to be seen!

We stayed here for a family vacation for one night and everyone had a very pleasant stay. Great ocean view and our room had a message chair which was a huge plus! Everyone at the hotel was very polite and they took care of us well. Few things that could change: add extra mat under their futon. Their futon was super thin and we all woke up with back pain. Breakfast menu could be improved. It would be nice to have a 'western menu' as a choice. Other than that, we all had a great time!

It's a nice hotel with very nice staff. But there is only Japanese name shown in front of the hotel.

Wide room. great breakfast. Nice environment. But the onsen is too small. We expect more interesting onsen.
