Beautiful hotel in small picturesque street

My wife and I loved the hotel and the staff. Everyone was warm and friendly.
The hotel is located in a beautiful street with picturesque little houses. Hotel is within walking distance to restaurants and landmarks.
The pool is on the top floor. It is small but cozy.
The only complain was that the wifi did not work in the room (2nd floor). The staff installed a wifi repeater in the room but it still did not work.

I liked the property very much. Their pool area is not very appealing. It is more like a giant bathtub or like an above ground pool. The lounging chairs end up very inconveniently from the pool. There was no one using it but my husband and I since we needed to cool off. I feel they could have done better.

Our stay in Hotel 3 Banderas was lovely. They accomodated us when our room has no wifi and were able to move us around. The pool and lounge area was pretty nice. The breakfast options were plenty. Finally the front desk staff were able to help with transport to the airport and

Wouldn’t honor my reservation, yet asked for credit card and charged. Then they said they’ll cancel reservation, issued refund receipt. Guess what? It was actually double charge. Now I have 2 charges, didn’t get a room from the hotel and they are not answering hotels.com customer service. Scam! Scam! Scam!

First night- bad- had to change rooms. AC did not work, no hot water.

Second night- still no hot water..

Third night- water was “fixed” not true. Still cold.

Fourth night- they truly have no hot water. They have water tanks on the roof and that is all you get. They are either lying or completely incompetent or both.

Fact is they just don’t care or don’t know how to run a hotel. Charge your credit card- YES! They know how to do that. Run a hotel, no.

If I want hostel level service, then I expect to pay hostel prices. You charge US rates , I expect things to work.

Wifi sucks - useless - don’t even think about video. Could bot work here because of this and had to go down to the mall.

AC sometimes.

Hot water never.

Construction next door- starts at 7am- don’t even think about sleeping in.

Management indifferent or incompetent.
I would leave but was with other people.

Breakfast- free yes, but super bland, cofeee terrible (as with most hotels in Colombia) Try Amasa Cafe down the street! Worth paying for.

No elevator- so if you can’t climb 2 flights- don’t ask for 3rd floor rooms

Mosiquites- yes, plenty- make sure your room has a screen on it.

In short. Won’t stay here ever again and did not extend for another four days. Went somewhere else with hot water.

I asked the staff ahead of time to arrange a surprise in the room for my mom‘s birthday, and they went above and beyond. Breakfast is also wonderful and the hotel is beautiful and very Colombian. I was the only huesped of the property and the girl in the front desk Mayin gave me the worst room in the whole property, at noght could even fall sleep for the AC, a very old AC, the guy at night change me to a mich better room, the best service I got from him, the pool very dirty, four night and was the only one in the hotel, was that hard to give me a better room?

The overall building of Hotel 3 Banderas is beautifully located and the lobby features are very well designed with tropical plants and flowers. The main problem is the layout of the room and their poor maintenance.Just to give you an example, shower and toilet are located in a very small place and sink is in the bedroom. In our room the toiletry place below the mirror of the sink was broken before our arrival and therefore there was no space to hold toiletries. In addition there was no equipment to hold your towels, so we had to wash our face and hands and then to go back to the toilet for drying. Between the bedroom and the toilet there was a high step, so it was very inconvenient to do repeat this exercise every time your wanted to use the sink. The light was only working on one side of the bed, and the TV was not working at all. The furniture of the bedroom was very poor with only a small cabinet to hold your clothes. To conclude, the Hotel 3 Banderas has the potential to improve at the condition that the furniture of the bedroom and the maintenance of toilets and sink in managed professionally and with a customer oriented approach. Overall our experience was very unpleasant.

Stayed on 3rd floor but hotel does not have life so had to lug heavy bags up the metal stairs. Other than that the hotel was comfy and friendly. The entrance is locked and you need to press a bell to get in. This is sn adva ntage as it keeps unwanted visitors out.

The hotel is very pretty and well located, close to good restaurants and it's lovely to walk around the old city. We were there only for one night and went to the rooftop terrace to sunbathe, but it's a very small space for sunbathing and the pool is small too. We imagined the pool was small but that there would be space around to get some sun, but not really, crammed in loungers. We had a room on the ground floor with no window, the door was frosted glass so that was our light in, otherwise lights were needed inside, as it was only one night we didn't mind, but not ideal if you're staying more days. Breakfast is nice and the staff is very friendly, they'll call taxis for you and find out the price in advance.

I guess many of the hotels have a no-guest policy whereby if you don't register with a person, s/he cannot come to your room. This was not clear to me, or explained to me at check-in. This wasn't a problem until a friend wanted to come to the room to freshen up: she had been in Cartagena for the day, and her hotel was far from mine. She was not allowed into the property.

Also, they don't have an open-door policy, so each time you want in / out, someone from the hotel has to unlock the door for you. This might be a reflection of the aforementioned policy.

Also, the room I booked (with a balcony) is far better in the pictures than in realty: the balcony is small, it has no view, has a tree limb growing over it, and is 2 feet away from a public walkway.

The hotel is located a block away from Plaza de San Diego. We found the area to be more on the quiet side than other parts of the city where we stayed, but it is still safe and walkable to popular restaurants and bars. The rooms were clean and hotel staff were very accommodating during our stay. Our original room had a broken AC and they moved us to another room almost immediately. The gate to the hotel is locked 24/7 and you need to be buzzed in to enter.

Location was excellent. Staff very helpful and friendly. My room even had a nice little terrace to seat outside. I did not care for their breakfast. The door to get outside had a big lock and someone had to let you in and out. In the event of fire this is a big draw back because one cannot get out quickly. I would not stay there again for this reason. The WiFi is slow and not consistent. The owner should spend some money in improving this even if the guest has to pay for it. When traveling connectivity is a must have.

Well-used hotel on edge of historic centre.

We stayed for one night en route for Mompos. The hotel is popular with tour groups. Our superior room with balcony seemed fairly ordinary to me, with a very cramped shower/bathroom. I was glad we were at the top of the building; it seemed fairly airless further down. There was no water supply in our room when we arrived, but staff soon fixed this. Staff were very helpful, assisting me with a Spanish voicemail message and keeping us up to date with messages from our transport provider. Breakfast was substantial and the wi-fi was OK. The hotel in general seemed like an old war-horse, willing and competent but a bit tired.

Charming hotel, well maintained.

This hotel was very pretty, quaint and charming. Built in the 1700's, there are no elevators but there are some rooms on the ground floor. I didn't mind the 3 storey climb to the top floor. Breakfast every morning was tasty, prompt and satisfying, but not a lot of variety. Three sitting areas on the ground floor served well as a congregation area. Security was top notch as the doors were locked at all times. You had to ring a bell every time you were coming or going to have very attentative and friendly staff members open up for you. The city itself felt very safe while walking around on the streets so the tight security, at the very least, kept out the riff raft. A couple of times, we ran out of water and had to wait about 60 minutes for it to return. Closet space and drawer space was limited.

The hotel is older as can be seen in the pictures. The staff was excellent, very helpful and tried to communicate in English. Breakfast was also quite good. location is great for exploring the old city. Where a problem arose is that the rooms open into a center courtyard and people coming in late and a little inebriated where very loud until quite late and the sound reverberated in the space and keep us awake. he staff did not try quieting the situation.

Charming hotel just off city center

Great neighborhood, but slightly farther away from the city center... but considering the size of the city, just a few minutes at the most. We stayed closer to city center on our first night and stayed here our second night there, since we planned to visit Las Bovedas anyway, so it was slightly closer. Great staff, super cute atmosphere, but I had bad luck with their towels. You know that wet laundry that dried smell? Almost like a wet dog gone dry? They were quick to give me a different one, but it still had the smell a little bit... yuck. But on the plus side, this hotel had hot shower water. Our first one did not (although, it was hot enough outside that a cold shower was almost nice, once you got used to it). The lounge chairs on the roof top area are definitely worth checking out. It's the best part of the hotel! Overall, a charming hotel... I'll stay there again, but I'll be careful about the towels and let you know!

The hotel is located on a perfect street near Plaza San Diego. The staff are very helpful and the hotel provides a much needed quiet space compared to the noise around it. The one thing we did not appreciate was having two twin mattresses pushed together instead of one queen in our standard room.

Great location, glitch-laden stay

It had been suggested we try to get a room on the upper levels and had written three times requesting this. First two unanswered, but our third attempt was answered with a promise for a second floor room. When we arrived we were given a room on the first floor in the back near the stairs, which was a very small, dark room. We requested a different room (in order to get some natural light) and were given a promise that the next day we could be moved. However, after repeatedly being put off and told later, later, we gave up, having other things to do. We let them know twice that our sink was leaking underneath and water was covering our floor, but that was never fixed while we were there although we were told it would be.
The staff was friendly, but didn't' follow through on promises. The internet was spotty. The place smelled strongly of cleaning fluids. We needed to ask to be let out of the hotel everytime we wanted to leave, and of course, again to get back in. The rooftop terrace was not a comfortable place to hang out, high enough walls to block views from the chairs, and chairs crowded together.

A Gem in Cartagena, Hotel 3 Banderas.

Spent 2 days/1 night at Cartagena. Wanted to walk around Walled City. Hotel was excellent, everything and everyone was very good. Clean, safe, spacious, beautiful, staff always ready to provide help, knowledgeable, very kind. We had a wonderful time here! The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are stellar and the staff is amazing. The hotel is within walking distance from all the sights in the old city. There are also some fantastic restaurants nearby. Be sure to try out La Cevicheria, which is right around the corner from Hotel 3 Banderas. Amazing seafood!!! I mean besides the hotel being great, Cartagena is a beautiful place not just in the Historical area. which was great, but i saw a lot of the tourist didn't know where to go. But there is so much to see and do in Cartagena.

Boca Grande, Playa Blanca, Isla Rosario, Baru, Historical Center(Downtown) Clubs, lounges, and bars(Avenida Media Luna).

Also when going to the beaches make sure to not get ripped off i saw a lot of tourist getting ripped off and i warned them to stay away from the massage ladies, guys selling crabs or fish(they tend to give it to you, don't even grab it). Like its understandable they're doing their job but it gets really annoying. I'm colombian myself and trust me i know their real intentions.

Other than that i had a blast you can literally roam the streets at 2am and nothing will happen to you(Historical Center) don't try it anywhere else haha!

It was a very enjoyable trip. Yes, all of the people that I needed to talk to (front desk) spoke english and other people were happy to try to communicate as long as I tried also. Stay here, in the walled city rather than at the beach. The beach is nothing special. Take a day trip to one of the Rosario Islands instead. Those beaches are nicer.

Great location and staff

The hotel is located in the heart of the old city, lots of restaurant and shops, the only down side about the location is that there are a lot of tourists and bars and restaurants tend to take advantage of them. The hotel is very clean, a little bit old but well maintained with beautiful flowers and plants. The staff is very good and will go out of their way to help the guests, especially Jannia at the front desk.

Vanity sink didn't include hot water. The TV remote control was missing in the first room. I requested changing the room, which was done, but again no hot water in the vanity sink and the flat panel TV wasn't working. But the service people were great, very friendly. I have to realize that the hotel has built in colonial times, quite up to date in may aspects.

The location was perfect!! And the staff is incredibly friendly and were beyond helpful..and very importantly spoke english (this is not a given in the area--the first hotel we were at spoke no English and communicating in our limited spanish was very difficult). Here, the staff was great. The room was adequate but could have been cleaner (had a first floor room and some small ants) and have a luggage rack (we used a chair). They would have let us switch to another room that was fresher, but smaller. The two courtyards are great and provide a lot of atmosphere also for that Columbia feel. Breakfast is included and for the budget, we were pleased and would return and recommend the hotel (location, staff, etc)!

Weekend Visit to Cartagena

Stayed there for 2 nights. From the airport, taxi knew exactly where the hotel was (a 15 minutes ride). The hotel is located in the San Diego district of the Centro Historico. Safe to walk around and there's restaurants nearby. Staff was friendly. The hotel was under renovation when we went, but still very cleaned. They are building a pool on the roof top, which we peaked at. We stayed on the ground floor, peaceful, no bugs. Overall nice experience. A bit pricey, but so are most hotels that looked decent.

Hotel 3 Banderas ideal for any age

This hotel is in the perfect location. The rooms are small but clean. Breakfast was amazing and the staff could not be more helpful. Paula is a delight. She is willing to go the extra mile for the guests. She even found a manicurist to come to the hotel.

Lovely hotel in the old town

We got to this lovely hotel after a very long trip from London and really enjoyed staying there for a few days. Located in the heart of the old town. Staff is lovely and fruits for breakfast where very welcome (and really tasty). Only the pool was missing.

A Great Find

Lovely little hotel, perfect location, friendly and helpful staff (especially Paola!). The only con was that the water pressure in the sink was inconsistent...sometimes it would only drip, so we had to brush our teeth in the shower. Otherwise, the room was comfortable, quiet, and very clean, with a nice balcony overlooking the courtyard. The location is in a central and safe neighborhood, within easy walking distance to everything. Overall, we found the hotel an excellent value and were sad to leave.

Exploring the Walled City

After staying at 2 other hotels in Cartagena near the Bocagrande this place was like a breath of fresh air! The rooms were VERY clean and the staff was very attentive to all our needs. The rooms had a fan AND AC which was awesome! Stepping out of my room I felt like I was in a tropical rain forest because of the fantastic decor. Everything is walking distance and very safe. The breakfast isn't anything special but the cook does make your eggs a la carte : ) another plus: both girls at front desk speak English!

Great Location

Overall a good experience. The location is excellent, the breakfast was decent. A couple of things to note: the \"queen\" bed is actually comprised of two twin beds put together-- but it was still comfortable. You have to get buzzed back in every time you leave-- which is a minor inconvenience, since it means added security. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I think for the price, this is a good find in Cartagena!

Great place

Stayed at the quaint, beautiful hotel for 2 nights. The location is amazing with great restaurants just steps away. The rooms were more than adequate and very clean. The only small issue was construction/renos that were going on. However, it didn't ruin the experience as they started later in the day.

The staff were amazing and accommodating. Our flight left at 1130 pm and they let us store out baggage until 10 and even offered us a shower/washroom facility as it was a very hot day!

We would highly recommend!

Amazing hotel, awesome service, great location!!!

The hotel was very clean, with hot water in the shower (no hot water in the sink, but you won't need it, as the weather is always very hot). Stuff is very helpful and polite, speak english well. The location is VERY convenient, close to the local beach, restaurants and is in the safe \"gated\" part of the city.

Great Value for your money

Hotel is in a great location, close to everything for easy walking and enjoying the Old Historical City. Its a basic hotel with everything you need and you can't beat the price, I had a unit with a huge balcony which was a nice plus but probably not a must have since I spent very little time in the hotel or my room.
