Friendly staff, place was kept clean. It is a bit confusing to find in the town but once you find it you’ll never miss it. Lots of stairs to walk up to the top of the hotel where you check in and stay

We had a great week staying at Il residenza duomo. The staff were very friendly, the room and bathroom were clean, breakfast was tasty and the property is in an excellent location for exploring the town, port and beaches.

Location was central and close to the beach. Property was very clean and traditional in its furnishing. Renato our host was exceptional in looking after us and providing us with assistance whenever we needed it. His manner was very friendly and professional.

I booked based on the fotos on the web , seems that most of the fotos are not from this hotel further more no info or warnings about driving to the hotel direct to bring luggage . It was a nightmare driving and then finding out we are going to get a 100 euro ticket in the mail . Only residents are allowed to drive in this area, local deliveries in addition. we receive a room right by the noisy reception area on the five steps away from the desk. We had everyone that walked by to go to breakfast, plus every time the phone rang at the reception desk. I thought it was the phone in our room. Thank you hotels.com. You should give me back some money to pay for the ticket.

Firstly, the hotel was extremely difficult to find and get to. There were no signs outside the building which was also an apartment building. Even the locals didn't know of it's exsistence.
It was on the top floor of a 5 story building with no elevator. The owner wasn't there when we arrived just a friend of the owner who knew very little about our reservation. We called the number we had but there was no answer nor was there voicemail.
It was in the old section of Tropea, therefore you couldn't drive your car to the hotel to drop your bags. The closest parking was about half a mile.
With no assistance and the owner not available we stayed at another hotel in Tropea that was much nicer and more convient to get to and cost the same.
The description and view from the hotel was deceiving. I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there unless you enjoyed being abused.

Not all that was expected
Unfortunately there was an electrical storm here last week which the hotel said blew out all the antennas so we've had no tv or wifi for the stay, we stayed in an apartment which is a distance from the main hotel where you need to go for breakfast and use of wifi. Staff are helpful but not willing to do anything extra such as bring extra towels to your room. You must walk to the main hotel and pick up towels, linen and toilet paper. The website says daily room service this is not true.

Difficult access but friendly staff
First, we could not access the hotel by car, but had to walk about 500 metres with our luggage. Then, there was a difficult walk-up to the reception on the 3rd floor, and our room was on a further walk-up to the 4th floor.
The two ladies at reception though were very friendly and breakfast on the roof terrace was excellent!

Prime location for Centro Istorico
Fantastic location for the old town - right in the centre. Staff glued to their i-phones, but attentive when distracted. Rooms beautifully decorated, but impractical - ie. brilliant sound system, but nowhere to put your suitcase. Roof terrace has lovely rooftop views where a good quality buffet breakfast is served. Pack light - this hotel occupies the 4th floor of a lovely old building, but has no lift.

We rented a two bedroom apartment in the lovely old building a few metres down the cobbled street from the main Residenza Il Duomo building in which the reception and rooftop breakfast terrace are located.
The apartment was perfect, tucked away and undisturbed yet moments from the closest piaza.Many of Tropea's friendly and excellent restaurants in the historic old town are within a five minute stroll through the beautiful lanes.
Add to this friendly and efficient maid service, crisp linen, creative and generous breakfasts with unbelievable views to gaze at whilst sipping your freshly served espresso and you start to really smile and relax smug in the knowledge that you have discovered a true gem :)

this hotel will not suit all,you have to climb up three floors to it them another steep flight to roof for breakfast which is great if weather is good as its all open.the breakfast was very good and i liked the way its served ,are room number 4 was one off the best. very large with small balcony over looking the duomo and the bathroom was also a good size.

Henkilökunta yritti tehdä yöpyäni hotelissa mahdollisimman mukavan. Henkilökunnan palvelu oli mahdollisimman ammattitaitoista. Aamiainen oli runsas ja monipuolinen.

Escolhi apartamentos com vistas incríveis. muito confortáveis e bem equipados. O problema é que eles não eram no mesmo prédio e que ficam em becos. Pode ser um pouco escuro pela noite. O que mais agradou à minha família foi o funcionário Renato, muito educado e prestativo o tempo inteiro.Ajudou a encontrar vaga para o carro, ajudou a carregar as malas e deu dicas sobre como se livrar das multas por ter entrado no centro histórico.

Helt bedårande utsikt..vi bodde högst upp i en taklägenhet med två balkonger varav den ena (den på bilden) mittemot kyrkan som vi tittade ner på. Fantastisk strand som man kom ner till via en del trappor. Kan varmt rekommendera både hotell och Tropea.

Skriver en seperat klage til hotels.com. En katastrofe på alle fronter. Men især renlighed og folk der kun taler italiensk og at det var svært at få fat på ansvarlige medarbejdere er det springende punkt - og selvfølgelig at vi ikke fik den bestilte lejlighed og at Hotels.com ej heller kunne hjælpe.

Mysig lägenhet med stor balkong och bästa utsikt över havet. Sol på balkongen hela dagen fram till solnedgång. Mycket trevlig och tillmötesgående personal. Extra plus att vi blev mötta vid torget vid ankomst. Mycket enkel köksutrustning så rekommenderar ingen större matlagning. Mycket nöjda med vistelsen men vi hade dock önskat städning oftare än var 4:e dag.

Tolle Unterbringung im historischen Zentrum Tropea
Wir haben ein Hotelzimmer gebucht und ein wunderschönes kleines Appartement mit Meerblick erhalten. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich, trotz unserer sehr späten Anreise. Zu unserem Erstaunen wurden wir nicht im Hotel untergebracht sondern in einem zauberhaften Appartement ca.2 Min. vom Hotel entfernt. Frühstück gab es im Hotel, dieses war für italienische Verhältnisse sehr reichhaltig und von ausgesprochen guter Qualität. Das Frühstück wird auf der Dachterrasse gereicht, diese sieht genauso hübsch aus wie auf den Bildern. Die Möbel im Appartement sind sehr hübsch ausgewählt, die Antiquitäten sollte sich einmal ein Schreiner anschauen. Das Bett war ganz ganz toll, dies muss man wirklich extra erwähnen. Die Handtücher wurden täglich gewechselt. Hinweis: Parken sollte man außerhalb des historischen Zentrums, ungefähr 800 Meter davon entfernt, hinter der Eisenbahnbrücke (Seite des Bahnhofes), da kostet Parken nichts. Des Weiteren noch ein Hinweis, man sollte Treppenfest sein, ohne Treppensteigen geht in Tropea nichts. Das Hotel ist im 4. Stock ohne Aufzug und unser Appartemente war im 5. Stock ohne Aufzug. Zum Strand geht es Treppen runter und zurück Treppen rauf.....

Contratei um hotel de 4 estrelas e me hospedei num B&B de 1 estrela.Sujo, sem estrutura de hotel, sem acesso de bagagem (subimos 70 degraus com a bagagem), no centro ao qual não se pode chegar de carro (levei 2 multas de 99 euros cada), ar condicionado não funcionava, porta de entrada quebrada.

Lovely location near the Norman cathedral in a charming little town. Many steep steps to reach the premises. Nice and absolutely clean room with the latest fashion in bathroom equipment. No English-speaking tv-channels.I was to leave early next morning and was told the reception would be open from 7:30 and breakfast to be served from 8:00. Nobody there. At 8:15 the staff came along, not exactly in a hurry. I did not get my prepaid breakfast that morning.

Gemütliches liebevolles kleines Hotel
Perfekter Standort des Hotels. Allerdings gibt es viele Treppen zu steigen, die Hotelzimmer sind ganz oben. uns hat es nicht gestört aber wenn man schlecht zu Fuß ist oder mit der Atmung Probleme hat, ist es nicht so geeignet. Ansonsten ist man gleich überall in der Stadt und lebt mitten im Flair der kleinen Gassen und verträumten lauschigen Lokale. Auch bummeln und shoppen kann man in den vielen kleinen netten Läden.
Wer baden möchte hat auch nicht weit zum Strand. Wir genossen die 8 Tage sehr, aßen und tranken gut und wurden auch in den Läden fündig. Nachmittags genehmigten wir uns einen Aperitif in einem der vielen netten Cafés. Alles in Allen ... sehr schön!

Appartement mitten im Geschehen
Der Check in war ein totales Durcheinander. Erst gelangten wir irgendwie durch sehr enge Gassen in die residence il Duomo, doch dort wurde uns mitgeteilt das unser Apartment wo anders liegt. Also den Weg wieder zurück. Danach mussten wir einige Stunden warten bis das Apartment gereinigt wurde. Zu unserer großen Überraschung mussten wir wieder ca. 100 m laufen bis wir dann endlich in unser Zimmer kamen. Die Putzfrau stand noch im Zimmer und hat zusammen gekehrt das es in der ganzen Wohnung gestaubt hat. Zum Frühstück mussten wir wieder zum Haupthaus laufen.

Sehr zentral gelegenes Hotel. Schönes Frühstück auf der Dach-Terrasse. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einziger Nachteil: Die Zimmer sind wie die Reception im vierten Stock und nur via Treppe zu erreichen.

Hotellet har bra läge, vi hade en trevlig lägenhet som tyvärr inte låg i samma byggnad som reception och takterass. Lägenheten var i två våningar varav den ena var sovrum och den andra vardagsrum där soffan bäddats om till säng. Ingen höjdare att sova i soffan för två personer men det gick. Vi saknade balkong och AIRCONDITION. De små fläktar som fanns på rummet var inte till mycket hjälp. Frukosten som serverades på takterassen var bra och personalen trevlig. Parkering var svårt att få nära hotellet. Ganska nära att promenera till badet mitt inne i staden som var mycket bra, men det var mycket folk. Säkert bättre att åka hit annan tid än i augusti.

Vackert gammalt hus. Mycket hjälpsam och trevlig personal. Läget kan inte vara bättre - mängder av restauranger nära. Många trappor, ingen hiss. Ligger inne bland mycket smala, pittoreska gränder. Härlig takterrass där en bra frukost serverades.

What a great hidden treasure this B&B is.
The enterence looks like something taken from a movie.
You go up the stairs and on the third floor is the actual B&B.
The room was very nice and had everything that you need, including a flatscreen TV and DVD with souroundsound.
Also free Wi-fi that worked very smooth/fast - workes even sitting on the roofterrace.
The room was very clean and the people working there; Alfredo, Massimo and the ladies were very friendly and helpfull.
The best is the roofterrace where the breakfast is being served...man, what a view and a great breakfast as well. Looking over the rooftops and the ocean while having your breaksfast with swallows circle around in the sky is amazing.
I sure will go back to Tropea and I will definetily stay at Residenza il Duomo again. Top notch!
