Very clean and staff Very helpful, restaurant was average

Room was clean with pretty view. Staff were able to communicate in English which was really helpful in our case. Breakfast was bit disappointed as no much options and instead they suggested extra 10$ for eggs and meat option.

We had a river view room with a beautiful view. Room was clean and comfortable. The AC unit was too loud for us to sleep, so we didn't use it. We had dinner at the restaurant. For the prices we expected the food to be better; this was the only disappointing part of our stay. Additionally, when we first arrived, we had problems with our vehicle. The girl working at the front desk let us use her battery booster and some small tools she had in her car. We appreciated that do much, as we were able to fix the car. Overall, I would recommend this accommodation.

Excellent stay.
Clean rooms, beautiful locations, helpful reception, filling breakfast, etc.
I just wish I could've stayed longer, hope to come back soon.

We had a very pleasant stay during the off-season. Our rooms overlooked the river and were quiet. The room was clean, relatively recently refurbed and very comfortable.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
On check-in, we asked if we could get a knife (so we could have a wine and cheese snack in our rooms) and the receptionist got us one.
The continental breakfast included the usual favourites. They also make their own blueberry and strawberry jam for your toast. Our hostess took good care of us and topped up water and coffee and cleared dishes as we had a long and relaxed meal and visit with the friends we were travelling with.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful, historic inn. Our room was in the units across the street by the river — spacious, comfortable, and featuring a king bed. The setting was peaceful and picturesque, with the river and many charming nearby towns, and it’s only a short drive to Montreal.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. We speak some French, but travelers with no French may find communication a bit challenging since English is limited. Breakfast was good but somewhat overpriced for what was offered.
We would recommend adding a TV in the living room as well as in the bedroom. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area.

The front desk staff were friendly. The price was reasonable compare to any other hotel in the area. The bad, the bed was very firm and uncomfortable. The mattress was sunken in and worn in the middle. Slept for 3 hours because of it. The shower was very small. Its an enclosed shower like you would have in a RV camper. They need a removable shoeer head sprayer with the attached hose.
You have to park along the side of the road in front of the motel to unload your luggage then drive back to the parking lot across and down the road. Dangerous and inconvenient.
Place was very clean and didn't smell like cigarette or pot smoke. That was a big plus!

Did not enjoy the customer service at the bar terrase😔everything else was good

Our concerns are twofold. We were only told there was no restaurant service until it was too late. Our room was to include a breakfast but for the above reason it was non-existent. Secondly after checking in the staff seemed to be nonexistent. On check out we tried to return our keys but the door to reception was locked - and it was after 9am !
Jennifer
Beautiful grounds and kind staff.
Allen
Has a cottage feel. Lots of open space to walk around.

Our weekend stay was amazing! The staff was extremely helpful, courteous, and so nice about communicating with us in English. We know very little French and were made to feel very comfortable. Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

The indoor spa was cold. No towels, coffee machine did not work. All in all it was good.

I enjoyed my stay at Auberge Handfield. It was quite with friendly staff and on-site dining. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was plenty of parking and I had a great view of the river.
I would stay there again.

They didn't clean our room and nobody onsite to talk to. Might have been out of season but were not informed about it anywhere. Facilities like restaurant, spa and pool were closed. None of this was mentioned upon booking or check-in .

I spend one day room was super clean staff are so.nice the place is quite and the view of the river is so nice
Louis
We were disappointed the cuisine was medium but definatly not 5 star and overpriced for what it was.It was my wifes 60th birthday and we went there partly for the sauna and whirlpool. On the second day we were all set to enjoy these facilitys just to be told that they were out of order. Something was broken in the whilpool which meant that we couldn't use it nor the sauna.which we found strange we could have still used the sauna. Then after we were about to check out they informed us we could have a free breakfast. Too little too late.I would also point out that on arrival at the hotel . I asked if we coold have a room overlooking the Richelieu river. They said it was possible but would be another $40 ,a night evan though the hotel was practicaly empty. So clearly there is an element of greed here. If you pay top dollar for a weekend get away.Yoi have a right to expect top quality. The service was lacking and the food in the restaurant was overpriced.and mediocre at best.
Teresa
We decided to check out a rural accommodation and found this property to be just perfect. Although it’s an older property, the place was kept immaculately clean and made it feel like we’re back in time. It was an awesome Experience, imagine being in an exclusive hotel 85 years ago. The owners kept the building from when it was started, but the beddings and the room was very clean and so comfortable our room has a patio with an , overlooking view of the river and the boats parked in their docks and the river was so calming. The restaurant was decent, food was great❤️ it was a perfect getaway from the city.
A small business making it in 85 years, says a lot about dedication and high hospitality standard. Waiter/cook and front desk staff were friendly.Expedia's VIP drinks were greatly appreciated🫶

Staff are very helpful and friendly 5*. Dinner was excellent. Room Cossy and nice calm view on the river.

Suite exceptionnelle !
Peter
Nice. Parking ok but had to unload on the street.
Amanda
Absolutely gorgeous ! Would love to stay there again
Francis
Beautiful view and the employees were extremely nice
Karel
The AC system could not be used because of the stench coming out of it.
Richard
What a cute and clean place right on the water. We loved our stay and the staff was excellent and extremely hospitable. What a nice stop for us on our two week car driving excursion. Thank you!
Alice
Très bien
La suite était très confortable. Déjeuner copieux (trop pour nous!) et délicieux. Propreté. Personnel accuillant.

Great place… We’re asked to keep quiet a 20h45 for no reason. Incredible…

Great quick stay
Excellent stay!! Wonderful service ! Easy parking and check in!! The bathroom needs a refresh!
Andrea
This was a lovely property in a quiet area outside of Montreal. We didn't get to use any amenities other than our room because we brought our anxious rescue dog who can't be left alone (which also meant we had to book a room with two smaller beds instead of the one king bed we'd wanted), but the room itself was spacious, clean, well-appointed, and had a lovely view of and walk-out to the river. Every interaction with staff was super pleasant and everyone was helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
Jonathan
Andrew
Nice hotel beside the marina.
We really enjoyed the water view of the room. The property was very close to the marina and had a patio restaurant which was still open. The restaurant was a bit over priced with mediocre food though, probably won't go back to the restaurant but will stay at the hotel again!

Beautiful grounds and scenery, very clean. Staff was very friendly. Bed very comfortable. Love that there is a balcony. Will definitely visit again!

Very quaint and peaceful riverside stay! Fun to watch all the boaters. Excellent dinner on terrace. Pool was warm and clean. Family of four and furry friend enjoyed ourselves very much.
Verified traveler
amazing view and staff. it was our 2nd time and we just love the place. The only thing I noticed this time, I had the impression that they've just started after a longtime pendemy issu, they didn't check several things: the shower in our room didn't work, there was no wifi and the souper in the terrasse came so late and wasn't a big deal.
Melissa
The food was amazing and all made from scatch. The room was very nice and confortable but could of been a little bit cleaner but wasnt dirty. The view of the water and the pool/spa is Amazing!! Had a relaxing weekend with my husband and no kids ... really relaxing and beautiful
Candy
Quaint and quiet. Room needed some upgrades but the bed was great .
Ghislain
Nice view on the river. We liked the classic style of the main building.

Great view on the river. Staff was charming. The hotel has kept the old charm of bygone days.

A great find! Love this gem of a property
This property is a gem. Great rooms, clean, warm, inviting, with a comfortable bed and pillows. The property is waterfront and backs onto a field. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and very popular. Highly recommend!

Beautiful view, relaxing environment
The room was very clean and comfortable. The balcony overlooking the river was a wonderful view and a great place to enjoy a morning coffee (there’s a keurig in the room).
We were going to a wedding in the next town over and would have preferred not to have to drive home afterwards, but as it turns out there are no taxis or Uber in the area. That’s no fault of the hotel, of course, just a heads up for anyone going to the area for a social function.

Room overlooked marina with nice balcony. AC was very noisy, would turn on and wake us up, so turned it off. Comfort of mattress was just Ok, not high quality.
Lisa
Pleasant stay
Spent one night at the hotel. Had a room with a nice view of the river (we paid for the upgrade). The room was small. The bathroom is tiny. Shower was good. Sheets on the bed were not so good. Very stiff and scratchy. Towels were nice though. Buffet breakfast was delicious
CarlC
Nice place with a lot of potential but...
I went to this hotel expecting top tier amenities and it was just ok. Missing items like a refrigerator, bathrobe and even an ice bucket were missing from the room. The hotel is a also a bit noisy as it is located right off a main road. It's unfortunate because it is a beautiful place and I can only imaging the beauty of it in the summer.

Beautiful B&B
The hotel is located in a beautiful part of Quebec, on the side of a river. Quiet and relaxing, and definitely comfortable. Unfortunately, you should plan to either spend 3-times the market price for average food. Meals should be planned ahead.
anthony
Good choice, quiet location, on the river
We had a company function on the property, the room was dated, functional with air and a flat screen tv.
Food served was mostly very good, although the bbq meat was not tender at all. Loved the home made potato chips. It had WiFi, can't recall how it was, I think it was fine.

Beautiful, peaceful place. A must!
We just added this stop on our trip and so happy we did. We wished we would've had another day to stay. The owner was very nice w/ his offer to tour their sugar shack. We would love to return some day.

Beautiful hotel
We drove into Canada from the US and had booked this hotel on Hotels.com. We had traveled from Ohio up the east coast and this was the best hotel we stayed at. It is so charming and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable. The only complaint we had was that we didn't have more time to spend here!! Would definitely stay here again!!
