Beware booking in shoulder seasons.

We were so disappointed to arrive and find that everything we saved and booked to enjoy was closed. No canoes or kayaks. No bikes. No forest canopy activities. Hot tub open only three hours and lukewarm with no willingness to adjust temps.

It was a gorgeous warm sunny fall week. We missed everything by two days and spent a lot of money to be in a hotel
room and go for walks.

The resort basically closes Thanksgiving weekend.

It was a sacrifice to save and spend here and we came from a long distance. The website did not make obvious that everything was closed; it was deep in several pages in small print. I spoke directly to the front desk several times before booking to confirm other details and no one mentioned anything.

There was a large and loud elementary school group doing all the “things”, but regular guests were not allowed. The place was basically empty except a few couples. We were really disappointed.

The food and restaurant service are excellent. I really appreciated the service staff.

perfect weekend

A perfect weekend getaway, everything is onsite so if you want, you can stay in and relax, or go for hikes, a boat ride, swim. The staff are very nice and helpful, not overly sweet and cloying like american hotels. A dignified, charming and quebecois vibe. It felt very safe, warm, and pleasant.

The overall stay was very pleasent. Lots of activities were available to us, the grounds we stunning and the staff were super helpful.

The one downside was the food at the restaurant which was of very basic/low quality. We had dinner there for one of the nights and regreted it unfourtunatly. The quality of the food was fine, but what I would expect from a fast food chain, or somehwere like St Hubert. Not a hotel like this.

On site restaurant is excellent both from the food and service.
Lots to do outdoors with viking and mining trails as well as non-motorized equipment at the lake.

3 issues:
They don’t clean rooms daily
The beds need an upgrade
There are not enough plugs

They need more adaptable rooms as well. Overall a need to modernize for today’s traveller.

La Station touristique Duchesnay, gérée par la SÉPAQ, est un lieu magnifique, parfait pour des sorties et des rencontres en famille. Nichée en pleine nature, elle bénéficie du soin apporté par cet organisme gouvernemental à ses propriétés.
Pour les couples en quête de tranquillité absolue, ce n'est peut-être pas l'endroit idéal, car l'ambiance est souvent animée par les rires et l'énergie des enfants. Mais c'est aussi ce qui fait le charme du lieu : une ambiance vivante et conviviale où règne une belle agitation.
Le service est irréprochable : le personnel est diligent, toujours souriant et accueillant. Merci à toute l'équipe!
Le déjeuner, proposé sous forme de buffet, pourrait gagner en variété. Pourquoi ne pas intégrer davantage de produits locaux, comme une sélection plus large de fromages ?.
Souper : Le restaurant de l'auberge a fait un effort pour les végétariens comme nous. Tant mieux pour nous, et pour les animaux ! Cependant, il reste des améliorations à envisager en cuisine.
Côté entrées, le potage de légumes avait un goût légèrement brûlé, ce qui mériterait un ajustement. Pour les plats principaux, le cari de tofu et gourganes, bien que prometteurs, manquait d'intérêt en raison de sa texture trop sèche.
La créativité mise dans les plats carnivores (volaille, saumon, canard, agneau, bison, crevettes, pétoncles et bœuf) est impressionnante. Pourquoi pas une attention similaire accordée aux plats végétariens? Une cuisine inventive en phase avec le respect des animaux?

We had a nice room overlooking the lake. Overall we were satisfied. Next time we will look for a place that is downtown Québec City.
Price for the hotel room was to expensive.
Restaurant on site is also to expensive with no choice in menu.
Better option is to rent one of the cottages on site and bring your own food.

Overall it's good resort. The staffs are very nice and there are many activities. The breakfast is included in the package and the quality is excellent. The dinner is ok. The only thing we don't like is on second day it was raining day and all activities were closed including indoor pool. The kids had nowhere to go. Still I recommend this resort. We stayed in the caribou , wechecked in around 1/2am .The room was right for The price . Not enough toiletries and the soap and conditioner dispenser was empty . There was also hairs on the sheets.Breakfast American style buffet . As a vegetarian not great. But the family was content
The omelet cook was rude . I asked her if I mix all the fillings in one bowl she said “je fais quelqu'un d'autre”...I was standing there alone and the question just needed a yes or a no . So I asked in French again louder and she replied , it was just rude . The waitress that was there , hmmm... well we didn’t get any refills on the drinks , and when I got up to pour the family some juice , the waitress rushed outside saying non non non and took the juice from me without even finishing filling the empty cups .Then when I was paying she asked me if I spoke French I said a little bit and she said that I have to speak French because it’s my culture ..... uhm no . That might be yours but it’s not mine . So that irritated the heck out of me , but even so I still gave her a good tip 🤗 Apart from those two sour apples everyone in the park was extremely kind , and serviced us in The language we spoke , no problem! They were happy to serve .If you love nature this is the place to be they have so many things to do with the family. The beach is small but it works , bring water shoes because there’s a lot or rocks and titanium bug spray.

We initially booked a room in one of the pavilions. The rooms were clean, linen was clean, etc but there was an overall musty odor. The outsides of the building were \"rustic\". The view wasn't too scenic. We asked Expedia to upgrade us to one of the lakeview rooms which was arranged by paying the price difference. These rooms were more modern and had a nice lake view. Everything was clean. Rooms were quiet. Food at the restaurant was very good. Enjoyed the stay. It was not too much of a hassle to go into quebec city at all.

We stayed in the caribou room and it was definitely dated but clean and comfortable. We got the impression that they had just reopened the building from the winter. Next time we’ll opt for an updated building. So much to do here you never need to leave. Note that the rooms here don’t include meals or kayak rentals but you can get an all-inclusive rate directly from resort.

Our first two nights were spent at the Caribou building which had no air conditioning and no elevator. Maid service was mediocre. They gave us just one bath towel on second day. We moved to main building which is listed as Superior room with lake view. This building was modern and had central air and elevator. We had a first floor room with a patio facing the lake. Worth it. Maid service was much better. Superior room is more comfortable for a couple with child. Caribou building is tight for three people. The walks in the forest are lovely. My only complaint is the hot tub with water fall in the pictures is at spa which requires $25 payment per person. Hotel does not say that in the information on Expedia. It’s part of spa. The hotel has a regular hot tub which could have been a lot warmer. Sauna is nice. Kids enjoy the beach and swim in the lake. Recommend that you bring your chairs. Hotel did not explain the zip line location well. Signage poor. Should have brochures about it. It’s not mentioned on Expedia either. If you like nature then it’s the place for you.

A higher-end resort accommodation.

This is a beautiful place about 35 minutes from Quebec City. It is set on a rise above a lake.
There is a full service restaurant with all meals available at extra cost. The rooms are huge and clean. This is a newer building with all of the usual resort amenities--activities for kids, water sports, hiking, biking and spa.
We had much difficulty finding the building as it was late at night and was surrounded by several other accommodation-type buildings up a winding road. The signage could be improved.
But we would return here as it is beautiful facility with most guests in the upwardly mobile category. And the price per night was very reasonable.
There as a great restaurant with reasonable prices in the village about 5 minutes away.

This place is good for people that want to be somewhat isolated to spend time together - whether for weddings, team building activities, etc. However - we went there to spend some family time (with 3 kids 5-11) and found our 4 day stay somewhat overpriced for what was offered. Water activities like canoe and kayak were nice, but the beach is pretty small for the number of rooms. Indoor pool is also pretty small, and there is only one whirlpool meaning we often had to wait for our turn. Was 30 min from Quebec city which made it a bit inconvenient to go out for visits.

The buildings are very old and kind of run down, the hallways stink really bad. The front desk people are nice enough but it does not compensate for other things. The pool is very very small and dirty looking, the hot tub didn't work and the staff seemed clueless on how to operate it. The \"beach\" is TINY, it's not even a beach it's a tiny block with sand. When they come to clean your room they basically just do your bed and take out the trash, they don't refill the soap/shampoo, they even don't give you new towels. One thing that really bothered me was the fact that there is NO fridge in the unit. There is just a coffee maker but no spoons or anything to mix your coffee. They basically want to box you into going to their expensive restaurant, don't, there are plenty of good options to eat outside this place. Also, we went to rent a kayak and the person was extremely rude, seemed annoyed that we didn't speak French, was yawning and ignoring us the entire time, didn't want to answer questions and didn't give any safety instructions.

Charming resort in the woods

We stayed in the main lodge and found the service at the front desk, in the restaurant (we ate two meals there) and with housekeeping to be exceptional. The minor downsides were the hottub being merely warm and the breakfast buffet being somewhat expensive. All staff accomodated our fairly poor French and assisted us in English. We'll be back!

Nice hotel/inn with absolutely fabulous view of the lake. The location is somewhat remote and access to outside amenities need a drive. But this makes the area quiet and relaxing.
The room was clean, bed comfy, bathroom equipped and clean. We enjoyed our stay.

Difficult to navigate property in the dark (we arrived after 9:00pm). Signage was poor to direct to check-in (multiple buildings with poor lighting). Requested handicapped room, but were designated 2nd floor room (no elevator nor no bathroom handicap facility) - very difficult for three senior handicapped people. Very unhappy about room designation. On a bright note, one of our party left a valued necklace which was found by staff and returned.
