Modern & stylish in tranquil setting

We enjoyed a really lovely short break in Sligo recently with the excellent Castle Dargan as a base. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. Everyone greeted us warmly and were attentive without being intrusive. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. Very comfortable bedding and large bathroom, although the toilet bowl was situated very tight to a wall.
We enjoyed a tasty lunch overlooking the scenic golf course. Breakfast offered a good choice and again was top class.
We will definitely return to this gem of a hotel.

The room was comfortable but a window was missing the catch so wasn’t secure and we had to go outside to shut it. The room was supposed to have a kitchenette but didn’t even have a fridge. Cooked breakfast was quite meagre and not hot. It was OK but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Could be so much better with some Tweaks

This is a lovely hotel which could be so much better with 100 little tweaks, fixes
I was unable to put anything else on my room tab, I think my account was opened and closed upon Checkin. That’s never happened me anywhere else in the world that I have stayed.
Button on the Shower was broken
Tap on the sink wasn’t fixed solid
Shower control in the Spa didn’t work
Need a Maintenance Person to do the tweaks and give the place a little TLC
The staff were all amazing and friendly
The Breakfasts could move up a notch, food excellent but felt very Butlins, Coffee in a pot was like dishwater, we found out that we could order nicer coffee though the bar.
Kid control: Guests kids attending a Wedding were knocking on our bedroom door until about 10pm, slightly annoying, but other Guests might complain

Truly surprised by the Castle Dargan Hotel (stay date 17th October 2023). I am a seasoned traveler and usually stay in high end hotels. I went to Castle Dargan midweek and didn't expect very much due to the low price. How wrong I was! The hotel was exceptional. The staff were as friendly as could be. The room was more spacious than most and recently decorated (kudos to the painters - very good job). The hotel was spotless. I hoped to hit a few balls on the driving range but the weather conspired against me. With that said, the golf course looked very appealing. The Spa also looked top notch. My partner very much enjoyed a couple of hours in the Spa. I am Coeliac and there was no problem with getting a Gluten Free breakfast (made to order and had GF sausages). Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I am already planning a return visit.

From the moment we were greeted by Caroline the hotel receptionist who welcomed us with her warm smile and sunny disposition, We instantly felt at home.
That warm welcoming spirit carried on into the hotel restaurant with our maitre d and server whom proceeded to give us a very tasty and satisfying dining experience.
While our visit may have been unfortunately brief, it was most definitely memorable,
In Hawaii we call what Castle Dargan has, as the \"Aloha Spirit\", the spirit of love. Thank you for making us feel at home.

Stayed at Castle Dargan for an overnight as I had business in Sligo, perfect if coming from Dublin as it is before you reach Sligo, a short distance and less than 15 minutes away. After a 5-day beautiful but hectic bus tour from Dublin to Limerick it was just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing 2-day stay where we could visit with cousins near by.

Also enjoyed delicious yet reasonable food and had a wonderful dinner party with cousins.

We visited from England to visit family but thought we’d make a long weekend of it. There aren’t any 5 star hotels in Sligo, so we went for the next best thing. We chose Castle Dargan because of its history, the grounds & it’s golf course. Sadly we didn’t get to play golf because of Storm Eunice, but we did make good use of the bar & restaurant. The hospitality is brilliant - the staff are so lovely & everyone made us feel so welcome. Sligo town centre is about 10 minutes away & costs around €20. The room & amenities are somewhat dated - the bathroom could have done with some updating (tiles cracked, plug broken), but then again it is only a 4* hotel. Overall a really nice stay - nothing is too much for the staff here 😊

The staff in the hotel were lovely, very obliging.

Our room was basic and overlooked the courtyard which was noisy at night, between cars coming in and out and smokers outside the front door. We left the windows open to let air in but had to shut them to block out the noise. No aircon in the room. We complained about the noise the following morning at reception but received no feedback.
Breakfast was very good, as was dinner.

In my opinion the hotel wasn’t good value for money compared to other hotels in county Sligo.

Our trip was fine but overall I would say it is the hotel's staff that sell it. The staff are a credit to it, very friendly and more than helpful. I thought some areas of the hotel were tired looking and could be doing with a refurbishment. The food was just ok, but while we were there the menu never changed not even the daily specials over the three nights, maybe this is down to them trying to save money after the covid closures!
I was a little disappointed in the hotel but I would not say I wouldn't go back.

Very relaxing stay. Covid restrictions midweek meant no dinner but delicious pizza was made on-site and very welcome.
(Some noise late at night from rooms downstairs was calmly dealt with by the night Porter Sean.) Superb night’s sleep.
Lovely Continental breakfast overlooking the rolling countryside.
The staff are all very friendly and efficient- and created a safe environment, adhering to Covid guidelines.

The property was below standards of a four star hotel. The carpet in the bedroom was stained the furniture was chipped and dated. The bathroom panel should have a health and safety warning it was broken in several places and glued back together. The breakfast was horrendous, as was the room it was in.would never return to this hotel. I really don't think it merits 3 stars. My advice would be stay clear of this hotel.

We were really disappointed after we booked the hotel in order to have use of the spa but went to the spa after check in to be told it was closed early that day for filters to be changed, we hadn’t been told this when we checked in. We were disappointed but were told it would be open at 9.30 next morning so we could use it before checking out. Next morning I rang reception to ask was it open or did we have to book, to be told no need to book just go on down so we did with our swimming togs to be told when we got down to the spa that it wasn’t open & wouldn’t be open until that afternoon. Really disappointed after having come to stay for the spa, we asked later at check out if we could use it after check out of it was open yet & the receptionist said the staff were in a training seminar & she didn’t know when it would open so we just gave up then & left never having set foot in the spa. We left our contact details & expressed our disappointment on check out but nobody contacted us :(
