Let me start with the only negative: the breakfast was cold. The boiled or fried eggs and sausages were cold (you would expect warm but no, cold) . If you want something warm for breakfast, I’d recommend going to nearby cafes.

But the dining room’s atmosphere is amazing! The unique vibe and architecture make it unmissable.

The interior design is fantastic. It really changes your mood when you walk in. The room’s furniture is a mix of old and modern pieces but the beds are comfortable. I’m not sure if “dated” or “antique” is the right word to use. the bathroom was large, airy and better than many 5-star hotels.

The staff were lovely, knowledgeable, helpful, respectful and responsive.

If you’re driving, I recommend using their secure car park (just talk to the reception staff). There are nice cafes and a Tesco nearby. The city center is lovely, and the hotel is right in the heart of it. It’s a great location to explore the city.

This is a beautiful hotel built in the late 1800s. It features great and rich designs, however, it has seen it's better days, and needs some maintenance.

At the time of the stay the AC wasn't working, and the SPA was closed.

However stay was still pleasant overall.

Great spot, lovely historic hotel with nice large lobby and breakfast room. Super friendly staff. Good gym area. We were right across from the Christmas market, close to fire tower and museums. I had a large bathroom with tub. I was very happy with this it was a great value.

Does not present like a four star hotel. Grand facade, fancy old building, mediocre inside and amenities. Very hard mattress, lumpy pillows, thin, old towels, no coffee in room, and you have to ask for services at the reception. Excellent location and friendly staff.

Large rooms and great location

The room was very nice, large and comfortable. The staff were nice and helpful. The hotel is close to all of the main tourist spots in the old city. The wellness center was not up to standards, but maybe that is due to the Corona virus situation. I did not find that it was attended and the pool was not usable. Overall, however, I liked the hotel and would definitely stay there again if ever in Sopron.

Hotel located in excellent Central areas close to activities and sightseeing and public transportation.
hotel very clean but old fashioned with great character.
Swimming pool hot tub fitness center and wellness area excellent as was the beautiful restaurant area.

only complaint is that they were not willing to check me in prior to 3 p.m. even tho room was empty. also phoned the front desk several times to order room service and a taxi and to get help with luggage but never once did reception into the phone.

Many rooms are also not accessible. stairs going up and down between flowers between rooms which is very inconvenient to pull any luggage or if you have accessibility issues. Make sure you are clear on your request if you cannot do stairs.

Great location! Easy walk from the train station, right in the middle of Sopron. Breakfast was excellent and kids and adults enjoyed the pool area. The old building itself is not that easy to navigate, but the signs help. Beds and towels were nice and clean. We had to wait until 3 to check-in. The rooms were plain, old building high ceiling rooms. Bathroom was nice and clean, but nothing extra was included other than a soap (body and hair) dispenser on the wall. We needed to go down to the pool area to pick up the bath ropes, then carry them back down before check out - an extra inconvenience....

It is a wonderful, established hotel in Sopron. The only improvement needed is the quality if the breakfast buffet... in a country known for good bread choices, here the offerings were limited and the bread so stale, it had to be two days old. Also, hardly any fruit, the juices watery ... they need to improve in this area.

Breakfast nice, superb idea of the barista making fantastic coffee. Wellness part is also ok, even I was missing to have small bar at leadt with some soft drinks.

Hotel is located in the center of the city, walking distance from shops and restaurants. Very convenient location. Staff is friendly and trying to be accommodating. The building has been renovated from the outside, but our room would definitely need an update. ( Not sure about the other rooms). It was clean, but furniture very old and worn down. Bathroom smelled musty, no vent, tiles chipped, old shower curtain and rusty shower rod.
The wellness area is nice, looks like this part has been renovated. Has several types of saunas, a big jacuzzi, and a nice pool.

Pleasantly old fashioned

The Pannonia has the look of an old style 'grand' hotel and is well placed in the centre of Sopron. Our room was a reasonable size and looked out onto an internal courtyard so was quiet - though Sopron is a quiet town and an outward facing room is not likely to be noisy.

The bed was just about comfortable enough though we'd not want to stay long and the pillows were very thin and soft.

Breakfast was generous with plenty of choice. The machine coffee was good if you put a couple of espressos into the cappuccino to boost it.

Staff were pleasant and helpful.

We hadn't brought bathing trunks/costume and were disappointed that the hotel wasn't able to lend or hire us any so we couldn't use the pool or sauna.

Only 10 minute walk from train station to the hotel which is the Old City. Hotel is the oldest in the city, built in 1893 and had been completely renovated. Our room was immaculate with a parlor decorated with antique furniture. Great buffet breakfast in the ballroom dining room. The hotel is surrounded by many good restaurants and a few minutes walk to the main attractions. The staff is very cordial and helpful. Excellent value!!

Wonderful Spa wellness center - steam room - sauna. - lap pool and hot tub. That was wonderful and relaxing. Workout room has a treadmill. Elliptical. And bike. Just not any weights. Just an old old weight machine. Not good.

The issue was the mattress in the rooms. I understand it's Europe old boutique type hotel. But they Must upgrade there mattresses. So thin- hard and I didn't sleep more that a few hours each night and for 119 euros or more a night. That needs to be changed

Fabulous location, fair hotel but could Do better.

2 night stay in Sopron. Best location in town, easy to walk everywhere. Hotel tired and needs a refurb but was very clean, spacious and good facilities including roof terraces for quiet sunbathing, drinks etc. Wonderful town for sights and relaxing for a day or so. Many good restaurants close by which were better choice and value than hotel. Breakfast in hotel was very good and service perfect. Car parking was only issue as although requested 3 months in advance, all spaces were gone when we arrived and none would be free during our stay, when we could see spaces when we walked through (so perhaps they get better price from locals? ) so getting a space outside in car parks was a real nuisance.

Great value stay at The Pannonia Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for one week. We booked a superior room which to our surprise actually turned out to be a fully fitted apartment. It was very quiet...spacious....modern and clean. However to get to it at back of hotel required a 5 minute trek which was rather complicated. A combination of stairs..2 lifts and corridors. The breakfast buffet was great...everything you could want and more ! The 4 course lunch only costs £3 and is well worth it !! Staff are friendly and speak English reasonably well. Fantastic views of Sopron from roof top terrace . You can see the Alps in the distance. Plenty of chairs and sunbeds to relax on . Huge spacious roof top area. Nice Spa facilities ...free for residents including pool Jacuzzi and sauna. The hotel is a little dated but is full of Hungarian charm ! Well worth a visit.

This ornate and atmospheric nineteenth century hotel bang in the middle of Sopron has been renovated with all modern amenities. Bathroom and room facilities, with TV and wifi were comfortable. For reservation management reasons, my room was upgraded to a deluxe double with a balcony, thank you Hotel Pannonia and Expedia. The beds were sort of flat and hard but I attribute this to old world European sensibilities. Or maybe they should invest in softer mattresses. Whatever, the architecture, charm, location, breakfast, and beautiful dining room made for a great stay.

The hotel was brilliant, friendly staff, we had room on the first floor with balcony overlooking the main street but it was very quiet.

Breakfast was delicious, lots of choice, buffet style so you can choose what you like and as much, or little, as you want.

Swimmimg pool was great (decent size for a few laps - 13m) and not busy, we stayed 3 nights and swam every day and only once had to share the pool with another guest.

It is a very grand building, bit like a rabbit warren, there are rooms and stairs everywhere, but that adds to the charm.

Parking garage is under the hotel and guarded 24 hrs so very secure and convenient.

Definitely recommended, it is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in!

For a European hotel in an old building that fits in with the neighborhood, it was nice. The rooms are a little smaller than what Americans are used to but why go to Europe and stay in your hotel room? If you get a chance, go up to the terrace on the roof. It would be quite nice on a summer evening. It goes on and on and you get a really nice view over part of Sopron.

Myself and my children stayed there for the Easter weekend. The hotel is close to the main square. The room was great: clean and spacious. My kids loved the pool although the water was very cold! Grand but tirfed provincial hotel.

This is the grand old hotel in the city center. But it is tired and could use some restoration. While the public rooms (lobby, dining room, stairwell) have lots of marble and old cast iron and good, original detailing, a bit more polish would help. Though clean, the room in a newer part of the hotel had with worn, basic furniture, and far less impressive.
The breakfast in the grand dining room (marble floor, glass roof, potted plants) was adequate but overall the room was tired. Perhaps the best note about the restaurant is that there were few diners in the evening or at lunch.
Parking in the hotel garage is an extra charge, access around the corner and to the basement.

Ein schönes Haus, mit viel Charme, zentral gelegen, gutes Frühstück und überaus nettes, hilfreiches Personal. Ich würde jederzeit wieder dort übernachten.

Sentralt rett på gamlebyen.

Hotellet er ombygd de siste årene. Inngangsparti forandret. Uteservering borte, restaurant i forbindelse med inngangsparti borte. Mistet noe av sjelen sin der. Ingen restaurant bare frokost. Frokosten er bra. Veldig sentral beliggenhet. Gode senger.
