Constant power cuts, no hot water on the first night until after midnight, everything is signed for twice, staying in the room cost an extra €60 for a few hours in the afternoon before I go to the airport even though the hotel is almost empty, breakfast is disgusting with the exception of the person making the omelettes. The best part about this Hotel has been picked up from the airport no question.

I would give this hotel an \"excellent\" rating were it not for the restaurant, which seems pretentious. Otherwise, excellent room, great sleep quality, lovely grounds and not far from the airport. Good staff too.

This property is a little gem inside a brick wall city. The pool was a welcome relief, the massages were enjoyable and very well priced. The morning breakfast was excellent with multiple options including gluten free choices. The restaurant staff were attentive, friendly and ready to serve. The rooms were clean but not all rooms have mosquito netting around the bed.

The staff was helpful. The property does not feel like a city hotel - the gardening is very pleasant and it is quiet, except for the construction going on. There is a good souvenir shop across the street. The food in the restaurant was mixed. Some was good, but the vegetarian options were almost inedible.

Property is very nice, in an urban area. Typical busy Malagasy street. Good restaurant at facility but also Pause Cafe is just down the street. I can recommend both. Spa is very nice with excellent massage.

Relais de Plateaux is always very welcoming! I have stayed there a few times and they are very friendly, very helpful, and make you feel very comfortable! I will always stay at Relais de Plateaux when I return to Mada!

I am especially thankful for the airport shuttle picking me up even when I come in very late at night!

Oasis in Antananarivo

This is not the cheapest hotel in Tana but it sure has a lot going for it. It is not far from the airport and \"only\" about an hour into Tana centre. It is mostly quiet but for occasional dog barking at night. Our room was spacious, well furnished, incl. a mini bar, TV with limited channel choice and a large bathroom. The hotel also has a very well priced and good quality restaurant with a good choice of wines and beers at moderate prices. Hotel staff in all departments were very friendly and helpful. The large pool had heated water. Given the 24/7 traffic chaos in Tana, I would gladly stay there again. The only downside is the local area, which is quite grotty.

Very near the airport so ideal for onward travel. Superb restaurant and spa, lovely pool and gardens. Spacious rooms with all amenities. Very helpful staff, from the meet and greet service at the airport, the reception on arrival, the waiters and cleaners. In fact I can't think of a single downside! Really worthwhile and relaxing stay of two nights waiting for our flight back home. I very nice way to end our seven weeks in Madagascar.

The hotel need change all the mattresses

This is the only hotel in Tena you feel safe and close to the airport. I stayed 4 different days in and out of Tena airport. The Restaurant food is good, service is good. But the mattresses are really cheap and need to be replaced. Rooms are clean.

Impeccably clean and quiet room. Great swimming pool. Delicious breakfast. The Spa was fantastic, especially the water massage. The downside is the staff is friendly but rather hopeless. The wifi signal in the room was not strong (it fluctuated between one bar and no bars) and when I complained, I was told an engineer would be available in the morning (the problem was clearly distance from router, not technical). Also, I booked an 11:30pm airport departure, and they herded me into an earlier van because they didn't want to make two trips, which is crazy because it's 10 minutes away.

Closeness to airport is its advantage. Downtown hotels can take up to 1,5 hours to get to from the airport in Tana traffic. The rooms are large with good bathrooms. The room decor and furniture though is very old and dated. The beds are also rock hard. It was not nearly as nice as the Carlton and Tamboho in downtown which we stayed at later in our trip. Food at breakfast was OK. The dinner we had there was bad. Service was generally good and helpful. The area around the hotel is not one you would want to go walking in.

Beware the shuttle! The driver was hidden in the parking lot after being told he'd be inside at baggage claim. The airport porters will instantly help you without asking and in my case they required a total of $200 before they freed my bags.

I tried to convert at hotel but they said they were out. Next morning I tried again and was told to come back later. When I checked out I was hit with a mystery tax \"hotels.com showed payed in full including taxes\" so I tried to pay with a large bill and they couldn't take it. I tried to exchange and was told \"the airport shuttle is busy\"

At airport I had to exchange to get money for this tax and I tipped the driver, not enough as he protested, and the porters got involved again so my $131 stay turned into $350.

Fantastic quality, for Madagascar expectations

The Relais des Plateaux was the only choice for the nights we had to stay in Tana. They have a free airport shuttle that is timely and reliable. The front desk speaks English. They were able to accommodate more than one last-minute laundry request even under tight timelines before our flights the following day. They went above and beyond to provide us with necessary invoices when Air Mad cancelled our flight and we had to seek insurance reimbursement for our meals and stay. The pool was serviceable though not too clean -- but still, it's a pool with towel service! We got massages for a little more than $10 though they didn't bring a table so it was a bit weird on our beds, but still it was $10! Food was great (try the Asian spring rolls as an appetizer, and the tandoori chicken). If you come in with Madagascar expectations, Relais des Plateaux will exceed them.

Disappointing experience

We stayed in this hotel twice during our trip having booked before we left home. The staff really has limited English language skills. During our first stay we had dogs barking behind our room the entire night. During our second stay the staff was partying all night as they live behind the rented rooms.
The breakfast was okay. The hotel is not too far from the airport.
We were asked by our waiter, in front of the restaurant manager, to give a tip other staff that did not serve us!

Comfortable for over night in Tana

This is my 6th time I have stayed at this hotel, it is slightly pricey but for those traveling often it is a good place for relaxation, internet and food. Shuttle to and from the Airport - a nice bonus for those late arrivals (coordinate before with the Hotel)

We just needed a place close to the airport, where we could overnight on our way back to SA. The hotel offered free hotel transfers, which saved us from having to take a taxi. We were rather hungry from traveling for most of the day and were grateful to have a meal in the Restaurant even though it was quite late. Supposedly there was wi-fi in our room, but I wasn't able to connect. The room was also inclusive of a buffet breakfast. The staff were very friendly and extremely help ful

Madagascar experience

My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to be able to explore the whole of the country for a month. We looked at all of the hotels available in the capital and decided on this one based on the good reviews. The hotel certainly did not disappoint! We used it as a base on arrival and then again in the middle of the trip as we returned from the north ( a much overlooked part of the country and to us, one of the best). We found the staff friendly, the rooms and general cleanliness of the site to be excellent as was the food.

In short, we would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and should we be lucky enough to revisit the country, it would be top of our accommodation list.

Wonderful Hotel in Tanna

Quite a nice find. Booked through Hotels.com and received confirmation almost immediately from hotel. They are only a few minutes from the airport, and provide shuttle service to and from.

Room was not opulent, but very comfortable. Food was very good. Everything was clean and the service was excellent. It is a wonderful oasis in the middle of vibrant Madagascar.

Definitely recommend.

It is not overly luxurious, but it is nice, clean, has friendly staff, a really good restaurant and is conveniently located close to the airport with free airport shuttle service. I would definitely stay there again if I was passing through Tana.

Nice hotel but complicated to get WIFI everywhere, so if you come for work, try to get a room nearby the reception

Would recommend to everyone. Best staff, service, room, breakfast and accommodation. They are on the ball with your flights for pick up and drop off. They have there own shuttles. Most hotels use the local taxis. Would def go back.

Great hotel!

We had a lovely stay at Relais des Plateaux. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We had a pick up from the airport which made things very easy and convenient and were also provided with a shuttle service back to the airport. This is the perfect hotel, particularly for a stopover in Tana. It is minutes from the airport (where as if you stay in downtown Tana you are looking at about an hour in awful traffic). There is a lovely pool and a restaurant where you can comfortably eat all of your meals. Definitely recommend!

Lovely hotel near the airport

Fabulous for our stopover as not far from the airport.
Rooms are in the grounds so a short walk to the restaurant or pool.
Restaurant food was very good.
Pool area small but as the hotel was quiet we enjoyed sitting on the comfortable loungers.
Did not venture out so unable to comment on the local area or amenities.
But would highly recommend as lovely short stay.
