Im staying at different Holiday Inn Express from Houston to DFW. The room in Alvarado smelled musty and moldy. The toilet had water stained and appeared uncleaned, the carpet felt sticky and wet, the walls had stains, the water temperature got “warm” not hot, elevator was gross. This was a terrible hotel. None of the other Holiday Inn trips were like this one. I arrived around 9:30pm exhausted so slept in my clothes, woke up, brushed teeth and left the room around 6:30am. I did decide to get a cup of coffee when leaving and it was hot. None of the breakfast was out which doesn’t go out until 7am, but a half tray of cinnamon rolls were sitting under a cold lamp from what I assume the previous day. If you can choose, do not choose this hotel.

So if the room is trash....the spa area is trash and the breakfast experience is trash...im going to rate the overall experience as trash. Supet disappointed with the mosy expensive hotel in town.

The carpets are not very clean it had a musty smell and the elevator was not very clean companies have contracts with this hotel therefore are very many contractors which give it that commercial flare, my room had a musty and pee smell in a corner figured it was a dogs pee smell being its pet friendly but I had to go and get a room freshener to get the room to smell am lil better its ok i guess and semi decent i have to say the bed was comfy but the hotel is a lil old i guess and then being that contractors go in and out from work makes a lil run down.

Our specific room I guess was next to a maintenance closet, the vibration from the equipment could be felt in our room, shook the wall and couch. The pool was cold for being indoor, and was pretty dirty with sand. The room itself was decent other than that and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The carpet is dirty and torn. The floor underneath is lumpy. The floor tiles inbthe kitchen and especially the bathroom are cracked and loose. The couch is dirty, sagging and old. The elevator is small, and old, and you can feel it slipping. That was really concerning. Broken glass window at the pool. They put $50 on my card for incidentals, I'm heading down there for a credit.

Worst experience ever! The rooms were dirty, smelly and dated. They processed my credit card for deposit which reflected immediately on my account, yet the front desk clerk called to my room to ask me to verbally give her my credit card number again. I informed her that I wasn’t comfortable with her writing my credit card information but that I would gladly walk down to show her where it reflected on my account. She said that was irrelevant to her and she wanted my card info. Her attitude was horrific and she then called me in my room and told me that I need to leave immediately! My sister and I traveled for several hours to meet at this location, only to be treated with disrespect and prejudice. I do not recommend this hotel.

Was not maintained and first room assigned to us had strong dog smell so they gave us a different room. Walls in rooms marked up, floor tiles loose on bath floor, tub spout did not allow sufficient water from shower, bed frame stuck out approximately 4 inches which could cut your leg.

Do not expect any help or flexibility if your flight gets delayed repeatedly then rerouted to a city 5 hours away. my flight was supposed to be to DFW, but was delayed multiple times then rerouted to San Antonio. We didn't even ask for a refund, just to move the reservation from Friday to Sunday. We tried to call the hotel with no answer. Then contacted hotels.com to attempt to get our reservation moved. Unfortunately the property declined, choosing no flexibility and taking the money and leaving us with no hotel and out $250.

This property is very worn out and not clean. The pool has paint worn off in several places and looked dirty and murky. The hot tub was even worse. The carpet is stained and worn. The staff were all nice and helpful but unfortunately, this property is in terrible shape and needs immediate renovations and thorough cleaning.

We had a wedding and the employee wouldn’t help us at all in making sure we have our room ready even when we called with 2 weeks of anticipation. The employee told me to call the day of and I did twice and she didn’t prioritize us as we had given anticipation. Please don’t stay here if you plan to go to a wedding as the staff won’t be able to accommodate.

First we got there and staff was excellent. Gave us our room key and went to the room. First walked in and smelled mildew. Didn’t think anything of it because I’m not the type to complain. Well the carpet felt sticky. Wouldn’t let the little one run around without shoes. Then the shower didn’t work nor would the water get hot. It was like warm. After the first night my wife had it with the smell. Told the front and switched rooms no question. Staff again excellent! New room so much better! Carpet felt clean, shower worked, smelled better. BUT, the a/c barely blew all night. Put it as low as it could go and nothing. Slept with the sheets and no blanket. Got the family up at 4am and left back home.

The outside of the property was great. But once I got to my room there were multiple issues- broken tiles in the bathroom, decent size holes in the carpet, even what looked like blood on the wall in the bathroom. I probably would not stay here again. If I could get a refund I would request one

This property is tired and a little worn out. I didn't bother to shower as the shower was moldy and not overly clean. The sofa in my room was stained and very dirty. The bed was comfortable enough for an overnight stay. Three of my room keys didn't work so I had to keep lugging my bags up and down the elevator until I received a room keycard that worked. There are so many disposable items: paper cups, plastic cups, paper products - not very eco-friendly.

The staff at this location were friendly, available, and timely. The elevator is slow and the washer didn’t work. Other than that this was a great place to stay in Alvarado. Breakfast was good and the cook was so kind. Everyone here was super helpful.

Room was dirty when we checked in they gave me a toilet boil brush with no spray or anything to do myself said they couldn’t do anything since housekeeping was gone for the day.
Carpet is filthy, comforters smelled bad, we went for an event and booked 5 rooms total, 2 were cancelled one day before stating there was a pipe broken but they had clearly overbooked. In a suite we got the AC was not working. Housekeeping went once in 4 days to clean room when twice I told him we needed trash taken out and bathrooms cleaned.

So many things gone wrong but here are a few, I had 5 rooms reserved since 6 weeks ago. Got there and only 3 were available. They overbooked and tried saying there was a leak in a room but told everyone the same story when there was no leak. Rooms were disgusting, toilet was still dirty and was given a brush to clean myself since housecleaning had left already. No spray until I asked again. Housekeeping went once (we were there 4 days) talked to some guy twice told him to please clean our room and at least give us clean towels he seemed confused and said ok, still didn’t clean rooms nor give us towels or throw trashes out. There was a large spider in one of our suites and small bugs in our room. Comforter smelled funky, carpets absolutely disgusting that my daughter was not allowed to play on the floor

The staff was really friendly and the beds were comfortable. The hotel definitely needed an update. The walls in our room were stained and/or scuffed. It smelled liked mildew and we noticed the lamps and bathroom fixtures were rusting. The tile in the bathroom was loose and didn’t have grout. The floors were uneven. It was right next to the highway and was really noisy. The area wasn’t in very good shape either.

I left some items in my room after I checked out and Shauna was kind enough to confirm they had them and help to get them shipped to me. Since I live several hours away. Booked this hotel on hotels.com for family trip for Thanksgiving. Drove 9 hours with two babies 3yrs and 3 Mos. When i got to the hotel the man said he never received my booking through hotel.com. He said he showed it come through expidea which was not right so i had to pay way more than what i was supposed to pay for my booking through hotels.com. Manager did not work with me on paying what i originally booked the rooms for. If I wouldve known I would have to pay what I paid I would have chose a way better hotel than this one. I did not want to argue or fight with the manager because my family was exhausted after driving 9 hours. When I got to the rooms there was black marks all over the walls like a child colored on them. Someone needs to clean the walls. Carpet was not cleaned to well either. And the coffee was absolutely DIGUSTING.

Very disappointing. On arrival, the only available rooms were both under some sort of construction despite having reserved rooms a week prior. One had a hole in the wall; the other had a half-refinished shower. No refund was offered, and front-desk worker was very unhelpful. The entire property has deteriorated from lack of maintenance. Toilet seats are cracked, tiles worn, paint chipped, doors grimy, etc. Walls to hallway are extremely thin & noise enters easily. I have stayed at this hotel off and on for years, but it needs a complete overhaul now, plus better monitoring of what rooms are and aren’t available due to minimum attempted maintenance.

The hotel made a bad first impression. Opened our door to our room to see the blackout curtains partially drawn with the sunlight streaming thru about 8-10 slits in the fabric. When I went to take a shower, noticed that the metal towel rack was very corroded/rusted. This hotel was not up to what we have come to expect from IHG hotels where we have stayed. Also noisy from highway that is close by.

Check in was quick and easy-staff was kind. Room was on the first floor and was EXTREMELY filthy. Tub had dirt in it, bathroom floor was littered with dead bugs and grimy dirt. Floor in room was dirty as well. Walls in room and bathroom were just filthy. Let office know and they moved us to a king suite. The room was better, but still not great. The elevator has loose tiles and is musty. The hotel is just old and in need of a lot of updating.

This property is in dire need of a face lift. Mattresses replaced, furniture and carpet deep cleaned, and rooms stoxked properly with amenties that are supposed to be offered. An exterminator would be great for the ants, bugs, and spiders (webs and eggs included). Pool area needs TLC. Breakfast offered could use a little help as well.
Most of the staff was super friendly though! The night auditor went above and beyond for us for sure!
This is definitely not what I would expect from a Holiday Inn establishment.

The worst experience ever we stayed to nights the second neight we had a family event to attend we left and they cleaning rooms which i thought they wpuldnt go in there since we were still staying another night. Well the cleaning people when in to take trash out because nothing else was cleaned. Well they stole my sons expenses cologne. The cologne itself cost more than our stay. I told the lady in the front in the morning because we did get there late the night before and she just said well nobody's has turned anything in! Well why would they if they stole it! Inasked to speak to the manager and supposedly wasnt in amd wasnt going to be in until the next more so she "took" down my information like if they already didnt have it its been 2 weeks and nobody has tried to reach me! I can just imagine this person digging through our stuff.
