Good for the price

It's a nice hotel with good sized rooms. We were pleasantly surprised to see a small refrigerator and microwave in the rooms, with table, chairs, sofa at no extra cost.

The couple who manages this hotel are very friendly as well.

It will be nice if they provide the proper tea cups in the rooms, instead of the plastic ones. But overall we were happy with the experience.

The front desk lady that checked us in was very nice. Limited parking out front, but it’s free and we got a spot. Rooms are nice, though a little dated. Slow internet, but you’re in the heart of the Black Forrest so it is what it is. Overall great location and friendly staff. I would absolutely recommend staying here. Easy short drive to the buses for the Christmas market too!

Clean and spacious room

We stayed in a very spacious family room, which was very clean. The staff on both arrival and departure was very nice and helpful and the inexpensive breakfast was plentiful.
It seems like little money has been invested in the hotel over the last 30 years, but as mentioned before, which was also reflected in the price for our stay. The main think for us was that the place was clean and the staff nice - and that was definitely the case.

The hotel was about two miles out of town and hard to communicate with until around 5pm as the desk is not manned all the time; additionally, there was no facility for making tea in the rooms. The breakfast, however, was plentiful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the receptionist went out of her way to give us a lift into town!

Cheap but not cheerfull

I have stayed in scores of hotels in my life and this one is possibly the worst. Reception was open only from 5pm until 8pm, which was okay for me but I felt sorry for the family who arrived at 8.30. Unfortunately, the reception area was also the bar, and the landlady asked me quite sternly to leave as soon as I bought my second beer at 8.00. I have never felt so unwelcome in a hotel.
There is wifi, but I couldn't get any signal in my room so I ended up sitting next to the vending machine in the lounge area to get signal.
The building looks pretty from a distance, but is actually in quite a dilapidated condition. My room wasn't too bad but the corridor smelt strongly of mould. When I tried to have a shower, the water pressure shot the shower head off the pipe, so I had to improvise a shower with a horizontal jet of water. To make the experience even worse, I had to dry myself down with just a pair of small hand towels. Not good enough!

Nice enough for the price but not very friendly

The initial response to the staff was very poor. The room was ready but I was forced to sit and wait for 25 minutes until 5 p.m. until I was allowed to check in.
I was traveling with friends who were also unhappy with the attitude and unhelpful behavior of the staff and general conditions in their room. The television didn't work and neither did the heat in either room despite the cold rainy weather.
Having said that, my room was large and roomy with a nice clean bathroom and a balcony with a nice view. The breakfast was reasonably priced and had a good variety.
The hotel is a short drive to the lake and town of Titisee.

Nice haunted hotel in the middle of nowhere

It was our stay in the way home from Switzerland.
Pro: price! After hours check-in was easy. I didn't have breakfast, but it was offered at a low price. Beautiful countryside view from out room, quiet, parking, pool
Cons: could use an upgrade in the room. Better pillows. Besides being 99% sure it was probably haunted, not bad overall.

A nice find

An overnight stay on our way through the Black Forest to a camping holiday in Switzerland. We wanted an easy place to spend the night and this was a great place for that. Very friendly and efficient attention. Good access for our dog. Good plentiful breakfast with excellent coffee. Lovely local walks. Free parking. Simple but adequate room with lovely view. Other rooms have balconies! Would make a good base for visiting the area.

This is a good experiece to stay here. The room is clean and hosts are kind(include the lovely 2-year-old baby girl). But it located a bit far from train station also Titisee. There's also something I don't really pleased… which is I can only use WIFI in the lobby(restaurant) instead of in my room… but it seems I'm the exception for some reason…

Poorly maintained.

This hotel experience was worse than disappointing. Rickety. Very rundown. Poor workmanship, and poorly maintained. Cheap, cheap quality. The top floor of the hotel shook when we walked on the plastic laminate flooring that was split in places. The shower curtains were 12\" too long. Shower was flimsy. Toilet seats not secure and some of them had cracks. 3 lightbulbs in one room were burnt out. TV with a long extension chord were plugged into a power strip, along with all the lamps. Owner not friendly, nor helpful. We had loved the old inns, hotels, and castles we stayed in during our trip. All of them were charming and well-done, except this one. Overall, this was not a good experience, and I would never stay here again, or recommend it to anyone. We couldn't wait to leave. The crowning touch? Because of a booking glitch, the four rooms I booked turned into 7, all of which I had to pay for, (including breakfast and guest taxes), even though we hadn't used them, nor were given access to them. I paid more for one poor quality room here, than I did for the beautiful rooms we had in the Heidelburg Marriott. This was a terrible place to stay.

We pre paid for this accommodation. On arrival, there was no one to receive us, just a set of keys and a note left on table. Departure was the same. Didn't see a member of staff the whole time we were there. Thankfully, a neighbour hotel fed us in the evening and breakfast. Very disappointing.

Total Dump!

This guest house was a dump. There were two families of four in our group. We each had young children and reserved rooms for 4 people. Upon arriving, they were only able to accomodate 4 in a room for one family. The other family was split into two rooms...this was not what was reserved. The hotel was run down and one of the rooms' walls were covered in styrofoam paneling. Our room, on the top floor had a broken window so we were freezing. The hotel staff was not helpful at all. Really dissapointing!!

The hotel is tired. The family room we were in was in the roof and very hot and stuffy. If you opened the windows you incurred the noise of the cars passing on the road nearby. The beds were all uncomfortable, the pillows deflated into nothing so no one was able to get to sleep. Dinner was a buffet style which did not look appetizing so we ate out. Having said all that, the surrounding countryside was beautiful green fields and trees in the distance plus idyllic picture postcard houses and buildings.

Room smelled of cow manure when we arrived. Floor was dirty, cobwebs on the ceiling, broken toilet seat, spray nozzle in bathtub sprayed in all directions (no shower). Check in process and all subsequent staff interactions were unfriendly. For 3.90 Euro, breakfast consisted of rolls in a plastic tote and canned fruit cocktail.

Of my bookings of six different hotels (nine nights) through Hotels.com on this recent vacation this place was-by far- the worst. Arrive Sunday-place closed Sun/Mon. Self check in to dirty basement room in need of maintenance everywhere. Had I not prepaid this dump I would not have spent the night there. This was in the middle of a national holiday so there were no rooms available anywhere else or I would have availed myself of one of them even though I had prepaid .

Nice setting

This is kind of a mam and pap family run hotel. Its nicely located in reference to Titsee, Feldberg and the clock museum in Fuchtenberg. Nice country setting with a nice view and easy to park there. Hotel staff was excellent. Only problem was yeah the water in the shower doesnt stay warm long.

Just stayed for one night in the hotel after skiing. My room was cold and I there was no hot water in the bathroom. The manager told me that there was no hot water because of the capacity of the heater, the hotel was full and the heater didn't attend so many people. The manager was unpolite and told me that I have to complain to Hotels.com. No sense.

We were a group of 18 persons including kids and stayed in the hotel in early December 2012. Price and availability of many rooms to accommodate our group are the main considerations for choosing this hotel. We had read previous comments before booking the hotel, but found that the hotel is quite satisfactory. It is a bit old, but the rooms are generally spacious and ok, and it is not far from Titisee. The minus are that the hot water for shower is limited, so those staying in a triple room or some in the double room did not have enough hot water for shower in the evening. There was no or very weak heating in the room, but we just managed to keep warm with the quilts. One group member complained that there was dripping sound for the taps at night, though that was a small problem. A lot of people stayed in the hotel despite some negative comments.

Lovely surroundings in the midst of Germany's Black Forest. Peaceful environment and breathtaking views! Very conveniently located if visiting Titisee-Neustadt.

Only downsides: breakfast was very average and staff not particularly helpful.

Excellent value for money nonetheless with wifi access in the room!

I'm really sad that I didn't read other people opinion about this hotel. everything is very old,dirty and not comfortable. most of the furniture are broken, beds are noisy. the behavment of the mannager in charge was very bad. He charged us 2 yoro for local tax for children instead 0.8 yoro. they didn't put in the rooms wat they wrote in your list. we'll never come back to this hotel.

The owners seemed bother with our presence, don't tend to feel discriminated or intimidated easily, but this people did a great job.
If you are American please don't bother to stay here, they threat you like crap, and don't you dare to ask a question they are as rude as can be.
My question is why is this place on Expedia, they should not advertise this property.

It's not an Hotel!!!!

It should be not having the classification of an Hotel, on the day of arriving nobody was there, reception was closed as well as the restaurant. We had to ask arround to find our room key. Not until the next morning we found somebody to give us a guestcard which brings you with the free bus to different places in the neighbourhood. The so-called free internet connection in the lobby didn't functioned. The bottom of the swimming pool was dirty. People were extremely not servant, nobody spoke another language then German. In the room there wasn't even a little soap to use to wash your hands and of course nothing like shampoo or anything else and the towels were old.
It was not a nice experience at all, although the surroundings were beautiful, but it would be better to find a real hotel in the neighbourhood.

Very happy and satisfied with overall experience. Hotel was clean and rooms comfortable. Meals all OK with all you can eat buffets for breakfast and evening meal. A good mix of hot and cold food in the evening, though puddings were a little disappointing. Staff could not have been nicer or friendlier. Wfi always worked OK, used it to check out weather, local attractions and directions and routes.

Hotel is not within walking distance of Titisee. Breakfast was mediocre. We asked for a towel for our third person, but never heard back from the staff. Third bed was not made up upon arrival, and we had to ask for a blanket.

The hotel was old and needed some serious updating. There was a small television in the room which did not work. There was an old alarm clock from the 70's, which did not work. There was not a telephone in the room. The walls were very thin and we heard drunk people coming up the stairs and banging on the doors all night long. The toilet in the room constantly dripped water. The linen in the room smelled bad. The hotel was cheap and the location wasn't too bad. I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay here again.

At first it looked ok. We Got there and tried to find somewhere to Check in, well there was nobody around. But on the table in there outside (covered) dining area, was a piece of paper with a name on it (similiar to mine but spelled way off) so i wasn't sure if it was ours or not, with a key and a note saying our room and when breakfast was. So we continued to look for somewhere to check in, it took about 45 minutes before someone came to welcome us, and i asked if that room with the wrong name was ours, he said ya ya, i said its not spelled right are you sure and he insisted it was ours (without checking our itinerary or anything). So we got in the room, and it was very clean and what not, we had one towel and three bathroom floor mats? It says they have cable, yeah no cable, there was 1 channel that came in occasionaly same with the internet, it didn't connect either. We had booked 2 nights, but because we were so dissastisfied the first night, we didn't bother staying the second night. I really wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect Hotel for Snowboarders!

The hotel was as expected, and even better. A nice small, family owned/oriented Bed & Breakfast sort of place. Lodged not to far from town. Perfect for those who are in town to Snowboard like I was. The hotel even provides a weekend bus pass into Feldberg and Tittisee. Free breakfast included with the price of the hotel, and a decent restaurant that is open pretty late. Serves tradition German food.

The beds were probably the softest I have ever laid in, in my life. Very satisfied, especially for the cheap price!!!!!!

Spent three months in Germany and hotel owner/chef was first rude German encountered. Rooms do NOT come with soap or shampoo- ifrst time ever experienced that. Owner told me no German hotel furnihses soap (a lie) and that I was free to go elsewhere. Hotel abuts major highway, so cars wake you up very early. Room felt like a basement. I could overlook all except rudeness of owner.

The is a \"good deal\" hotel for those who don't need to be in the center of resort activity. Located in a small community of rural hotels set next to lovely Alpine-type cow pastures, it is still possible to reach tourist areas situated on nearby lakes within 15 min. However, keep in mind this is a 2-star hotel, so expect thin and scratchy towels, and less than gourmet food--but all in all, good value for the money.

Excellent BBQ diner buffet with half-board

This place was great for the price and the diner was excellent with the half-board. The bed and room typical German style. We stayed in an economy room and were surprised at the size of the room. There was a table with room for 4-6 people and a couch. The bathroom was good size but didn't have a stand up shower, just the spray nozzle.

The location in right in the center of the Black Forest, 2k from Titisee and about 45 min drive up a beautifully curvy road through the forest to Triberg.

The place seems to be family owned and run and they people we talked to were nice and helpful. The pool was a shallow wading pool but could still serve to cool you off on a hot day. There was also a working sauna and tanning bed in the main building. We are thinking of going back again next weekend for two nights.

This hotel was adequate at best. For a nonsmoking hotel, there was quite a strong odor of cigarette smoke, and people smoked in the room adjoining the restaurant. They did respond immediately to our request for extra towels and soap. They were nice enough when asked a question, but didn't go out of their way to greet guests. I had to search to find someone when I checked in and again when I checked out. But for the price, it was a decent deal and the breakfast was fair. I wouldn't stay again though.

Heruntergekommenes altes Haus. Man sieht, dass alles von den Besitzern selbst \"repariert\" wurde. Uraltes Bad, selbst gezogene Fugen, Zimmereinrichtung zusammengewürfelt. Alte Zimmertüren, man hört jeden Gast draußen im Flur vorbeigehen. In der Dusche gab es nur kaltes Wasser. Bin nicht sicher, ob der Bettbezug frisch gewaschen war, kam nicht so vor und war total verknittert. Dieses Hotel wird lieblos und nur mit dem Gedanken ans Geldverdienen ohne Investition geführt. Ich bin froh, dass ich nur eine Nacht gebucht hatte. Habe mich selten so unwohl gefühlt wie in diesem Zimmer.

Nous sommes arrivés à 19h30 et personne a la réception, nous avons sonné plusieurs fois à l’interphone….. personne ne nous a répondu, donc au bout de 40 min nous nous sommes résolus à trouver un autre hôtel.
Nous avons fait une réclamation à hôtel.com qui les a contacté ces propriétaires sont d’exceptionnels menteurs et de mauvaises foi…. De plus dans le hall, ça sentait vraiment mauvais et ce n’est pas du tout accueillant. C’est tout ce que nous pouvons dire sur cet horrible hotel, Mal entretenu, car nous avons jamais eu notre chambre et ces gens ne le reconnaissent pas…… INCROYABLE de mauvaise foi

Also wir werden sicher nicht mehr bei Sonnenmatte Buchen. Vielleicht wenn es Renoviert ist. Und wir kommen aus der Reinigung und sehen alles, dass es viel Schmutz hat, die Wasserhähne verkalkt sind.Es läuft brauner saft bei den Wänden runter vor Feuchte,in die Duschwanne, zum Duschen nicht einladent. Es riecht sehr stark in den Zimmer vor alter und kaltem Rauch. Es war nicht angenehm, wenn wir länger geblieben wären, hätten wir eine andere Unterkunft gesucht.

Mir fällt es schwer, die Unterkunft als „Hotel“ zu bezeichnen. Ist alles sehr pragmatisch eingerichtet und orgamusiert.
Der Inhaber hat mich unhöflich beschuldigt, eine schlechte Bewertung abgegeben z haben - deshalb ein Stern Abzug. Die Angaben wie Pool usw. sind überzogen. Am Montag kein Frühstück, weil die Angestellte im Urlaub ist... Auch ja: „Frückstück verfügbar“ heißt, dass man es Vorot extra bezahlen muss.
Insgesamt eine gute Unterkunft, unter Hotel verstehe ich jedoch etwas wnderes.

Mit Ikea Möbeln eingerichtet. Gut das es nur eine Nacht war. Leute bucht dieses Hotel nicht ihr werdet es bereuen.

Es war nur ein kurzer Aufenthalt , haben keine grossen Erwartungen da wir nur zum Wellness gekommen sind !! Die junge Frau die uns begrüsst hat und das Frühstück gerichtet hat , grosse Klasse 👍 hätten es schön gefunden , wenn die Besitzer die wenigen Gäste persönlich begrüsst hätten.

Hébergement à la décoration quelque peu désuète, chambres relativement calmes et bien chauffées . Bon matelas. Proche du complexe Badeparadies. N'avons pas obtenu le numéro de la chambre par email comme espéré, mais seulement une fois sur place après un appel téléphonique.

Bett war kapput, chef läuft einfach davon wenn man mit ihm spricht. Sehr rücksichtslos und respektlos. Fernseh und Heizungen gingen nicht. Der Chef ist das Allerletzte. Leute müssen in der Kälte frühstücken weil der Chef Strom sparen möchte. Nie wieder.

Matrass extremely soft. Tv quite small and at a strange angle to watch from the bed. Room was advertised as \"Poolside\", which was true, but in fact it was in a souterrain with full view against a semi-basement-concrete-wall. We didnt come for the pool, yet this was kind of strange.
Price was a bit too high for the offered value.

Es gab keinen Kühlschrank im Zimmer. Auch auf dem Balkon war Rauchverbot. An der Bar wurde kein Alkohol ausgeschenkt, obwohl alles vorhanden war, Zapfanlage, Weinflaschen im Regal usw. Das Personal war etwas unfreundlich.

2 Betten würden gebucht. Erhalten haben wir 1 schmales Doppelbett und Schlafsofa. Auf dem Schlasofa schlief es sehr schlecht.

Für eine Nacht mal ok muss man aber nicht haben

Wir haben ein Zimmer bekommen und nach ungefähr 30min ist aufgefallen, dass uns ein falsches Zimmer zugewiesen wurde und wir mussten wieder raus. Der Chef ist eher unfreundlich und nicht gerade gastfreundlich, die Tochter hingehen sehr! Also ich hatte für den Preis und die Sterne nicht viel erwartet und für eine Nacht war es ok aber ich erwarte Freundlichkeit! Einmal und nie wieder

FRÜHSTÜCKSBÜFFET war sehr reichhaltig.
Um PKW vom Schnee vor der Abreise zu befreien wurde ein Besen zur Verfügung gestellt.

Nettes Personal. Sauberkeit war ganz in Ordnung. Das Zimmer in dem wir untergebracht waren, muss unbedingt renoviert werden: Fußleisten, Wände, Tv hing nur an einer Schraube, Kabel könnten in einem Kabelkanal untergebracht werden, Löcher im Fußboden, hervorstehende Schrauben, defekte Steckdosen und Lichtschalter . Der Außenbereich könnte ebenfalls mehr Pflege gebrauchen.

Das Hotel ist frisch am Markt. Einige Routinen müssen sich noch einspielen. Insbesondere der Versuch der Rationalisierung des Gastronomiebereichs durch Einsatz von Multimedia ist gewöhnungsbedürftig.

Unter dem Strich aber vollkommen empfehlenswert, da das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt

Leider war das gebuchte Zimmer bei anreise am späten Abend nicht bezugsbereit. Mir wurde dann nach einiger Zeit ein anderes, viel kleineres Zimmer zugeteilt. Von der zuerst versprochene Preisreducktion will der Hotelier nun nichts mehr wissen. Ausserdem kam morgens, als ich noch geschlafen habe, die Putzfrau, ohne anzuklopfen ins Zimmer.

Die Umgebung ist wunderschön, Lage ist perfekt, man kommt überall hin in wenigen Minuten. Die Unterkunft ist zum übernachten ganz gut, mehr haben wir auch nicht gebraucht. Preis-Leistung ist super!

Hotel de classe moyenne, bien situé au calme, mois de novembre le 80% des établissements à Titisee sont fermés (vacance), cet hôtel fonctionne aussi avec un personnel minimum au restaurant. Le service en chambre est bon et ne pose pas de problème. Prix très bas en cette saison, faut en profiter
