I had a large, spacious room, stylish as befits a classical Galata building. Huge bed.
The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is on the roof, with fine views. It’s a normal Turkish hotel breakfast.
The hotel is set on the Golden Horn and near lots of wonderful areas.

I had a pleasent stay here, all the front desk staff were lovely and very accommodating. The only downside is the street noise at night, it’s very centrally located steps away from Galata tower so can’t really complain! I would suggest booking a room facing the rear side or the building.

I really enjoyed my stay here at Nordstern Galata. The staff was incredibly nice every single one of them to include Ramadan, Ertugrul, Aziz, Onür and everyone! The room was ready way earlier than I expected and they were very friendly and hospitable! The view of my room was also amazing and it had a huge bathroom!

The breakfast was fresh with a good selection of breads, cheese, butter, and fruits. To cater to guests from different regions, they could consider adding English breakfast items and some Asian dishes. The staff was excellent; Nahib, Onur, Ramazan, and Fatih were excellent communicators, attentive, and friendly.

Regarding the hotel policy, there is a 30 Euro guest fee for more than two people to visit you in the room, because, hotel doesn't have visitor place to sit and talk in lobby. it may be foreign girlfriend, travel friends, escorts, pub meeting friends- which is kind of unusual . in many countries visiting doesn't cost even they been taken into hotel room. Although not mandatory, we were informed that we needed to pay for guests to visit our rooms, which the hotel stated was their policy's .

i said its ok to pay for 30 euro. I don't value the money. i want my guest need to be treated well.

i definitely recommend this hotel if you are traveler, limited to two guest.

I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience warrants it. From the moment I arrived, the service was underwhelming. Staff seemed disinterested and unresponsive to basic requests, which set the tone for the rest of the stay.

The cleanliness of the room was far below acceptable standards — dusty surfaces, stained linens, and a bathroom that clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned. Housekeeping was inconsistent and often skipped entirely.

Noise was another major issue. Whether it was thin walls, loud guests, or street traffic, restful sleep was nearly impossible. I raised concerns, but they were brushed off without resolution.

For the price paid, I expected far better. The amenities were outdated, the atmosphere chaotic, and the overall experience frustrating. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking comfort, cleanliness, or decent service.

The location is great, the included buffet breakfast was nice but not great for vegans (some days better than others, nothing labeled). There is a fridge in the room but it is inside an un-vented cupboard which gets very hot so the fridge doesn't work. Blankets were just sheets and the bed was quite hard. The hotel room seemed like it was designed by someone who has never stayed in a hotel.

Staff were generally lovely and helpful when they could. There was one odd incident on our first night when we were on the main balcony taking a few pictures of the skyline and the man who checked us in a few hours prior confronted us seeming to think we were tourists wandering in off the street - it was odd and uncomfortable (he was a bit aggressive at first) but he was apologetic when he realised the mistake.

Nice enough, but just generally a little odd.

Stayed in Nordstern Hotel Galata in August 2025. Hotel room offered ample space, was clean, bed was comfortable, and wi-fi was reliable. Hotel is located near Galata Tower, about a 5 minute walk from hotel. This location is perfectly located near main locations, without being overly crowded. Hotel has an amazing rooftop area where breakfast is offered, after breakfast area remains accessible if you need somewhere to relax and enjoy a stunning city view.

The Staff are hands down the best! Super friendly and always available for any questions or requests. Shout out to Ramajan and Nijat! If you would like recommendations to the best food or attraction spots, these fine gentlemen are more than happy to put you on to some local spots!

I also booked their airport shuttle service and it is honestly so worth it. Communication on meet up location was clear and driver arrived on time, Ramajan & Nijat also made sure to follow up with me regarding my return shuttle to the airport. This was such a peace of mind.

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. Toilet broke, staff didn't fix it, we come back to a room that hadn't been serviced. We were downgraded to a smaller room, there the A/C was not working there, super hot summer. Tried the breakfast buffet, stale bread, coffee machine out of order, staff didn't want to fix it, they didn't care and said \"Drink tea\". Same attitude at the front desk, nobody wanted to help. They kept saying \"we don't have a record of your request to fix these issues in your room\". Different staff shift blaming each other. Manager never present and refused to speak with us (and expedia customer service) over the phone. I will never stay there again. this is worse than a hostel. Should not be listed on Expedia and most definitely, this hotel does not meet VIP access criteria.

Istanbul is a beautiful city, plenty of good hotels in this area. Don't stay at the Nordstern.

This hotel with amazing views and location where I stayed for two nights on there room 401 where is a nice room with balcony but! A big but, when they gave me the room AC was off and room was hot they told me it will cool down, I left for several hours and thinking it will be perfectly cold but coming back it was barely cold, told this to reception multiple times, they were overall very good to communicate but the problem of this rooms ac (although seems like a central ac system which I looked for before I booked) was not performing normally and needed repair. I kindly asked for a sensible refund of the portion of my stay. Still haven’t heard back anything. I wouldn’t stay there again because they basically gamble and give you a room, expecting the guests to eat up all the problems of the rooms/stay.

At one end of the Galata Bridge the hotel is very well located - with easy access to modern and ancient parts of the city, and easy reach to tram (outside the front door) and ferry services. The front door was, however, rather inconspicuous. A hearty traditional breakfast was provided on the roof terrace which had a wonderful view. My room had a partial sea view of the Galata bridge and Hagia Sophia and was very quiet despite the busy location. Seyfullah and other staff were very helpful.

Low water pressure in the shower, toilet seat was broken, dusty curtains, mediocre breakfast. I didn’t like to see the gentleman at breakfast cleaning the counter with the same mop that he used to clean the floor. At breakfast you feel like you are being supervised by the above mentioned gentleman. The location is fantastic and the view from the terrace is amazing, close to the tram and the street food . I liked that there was always coffee and tea available at the terrace. It’s a bit noisy but I still would recommend this place.

Location is convenient: next to the Galata Bridge (shops, restaurants and the Galata Tower on one side, all the big monuments and museums on the other side). It is a bit noisy.
The rooms look great, although cleaning can be improved. One day the drainage of the shower wasn’t working, the next day there was no hot water. These are the basics of hotels, which didn’t work. The old guy at the reception said that he knew that there was no hot water, but he was probably too proud to apologize. The younger personnel was friendly and very helpful.

I had the best stay at Galata Nordstern! The room was comfortable, though it could use a little update—some fittings in the bathroom were a bit worn, like the broken toilet seat and towel bar. That said, I didn’t mind too much because everything else made up for it. I loved the lively outdoor sounds, the convenience of nearby food, and the fun walk to Galata Port and Hagia Sophia. The staff was incredible, especially when they surprised me with a delicious cake on my birthday! Breakfast was simple but fine, and the rooftop views with chai were breathtaking. Overall, a wonderful experience—I’ll definitely be back!

The location and the staff were excellent. However, my upgraded room was on the 4th floor, where they were making major repairs to the flooring making very loud noise all afternoon. Most of the view from my room was blocked by a ghosted skeleton building, which was too ugly to ignore. Hopefully, both of these conditions are temporary and will not affect others.

Disappointing experience avoid like plague

This room should not be a room. It is a converted shop (ex-spa commercial property) that has a bed added and made into an extra room within the hotel. The hamam was not turned on, reception cannot speak English, there is a stock room in one of then rooms with open wiring, water from taps came out brown, overall uncleaned, unkempt, the shower did not have running hot water (only hot water available from taps). This is not a suite, this is a shop sleeping experience. I felt unsafe - locks were flimsy, and so close to the main street that I thought anyone could come in. This is my second bad experience on this site. Makes me wonder whether QC is properly conducted - utterly disappointed and shambolic experience, would expect better rooms in a village. I have videos of my room if you want to check or contest.

Great location and views

This is a basic four star hotel with several outstanding features. It used to be a German bank before it was converted to a hotel, and has high ceilings, with chandeliers in certain rooms. The rooms themselves are in need of refurbishment, but are otherwise comfortable. The bed is great! The breakfast in their terrace restaurant is merely adequate, but the place itself is open 24hrs for coffee or just hanging out (byob!).
Their piece de resistance, however, is their location, and the view from the terrace and from some rooms! It's truly amazing in all directions. The hotel is literally steps away from the Galata bridge (for walking across to the Sultanahmet area), the ferry terminal to Kadikoy and other places, the Tunel (funicular) to Istiklal street, and the T1 tram to Kabatas (Dolmabahce Palace) and Sultanahmet. This area, Karakoy, is a great nightlife area with cool restaurants and bars. The beautiful Galataport area is a very short walk away.
Last but not least, it's the exemplary level of service from all the staff! They are all wonderfully polite and helpful.
They can arrange airport transportation and tours, and are very responsive to pre-visit email and WhatsApp queries.
If you're looking for a modern hotel and great Turkish breakfast, this is not it. But aside from that, it's fantastic.

Excellent Stay in Nordstern Hotel

We truly enjoyed our stay at Nordstern Hotel. Three things for that stay stood out. First was that hotel location is right next to picturesque Galata Bridge that connects city’ historic part with more modern Karakoy district. While hotel location could be a bit on a noisier side, if widows of one’ room face the bridge, it is really fun to watch bustling life going by around the bridge. Right in front of hotel there is a tram stop that makes it easy to reach major historic attractions, including Topkapi palace, Hagia Sophia, others. Second appealing attribute was that hotel is located in historic, yet very well maintained building. When asked, receptionist proudly explained that building is about 200 years old, was originally built for a German insurance company and 100 years later converted to hotel. The very fact that ceiling height in our room was 4.5m, room had old world intricate finish carpentry brought a special charm. Finally, about a breakfast room. It is located at hotel highest floor and has an outdoor rooftop area. Selection of food during breakfast was great. It included typical Western food staples and selection of Turkish dishes. My favorite pass by time was after main breakfast move to an open terrace, sip Turkish tea, watch life going by around the bridge. Breakfast room attendants, Ms. Gül and Mr. Metin worked hard in keeping buffet well stocked and area neat and tidy and are truly warm people. Ms. Sevda, our room attendant was meticulous in her duties.

Nordstern Hotel Galata is the perfect place to start an exploration of Istanbul. The hotel is a block or two away from trams ferries, and the main bridge across the Golden Horn. Further, it is a 10-15 minute walk to major attractions like the Galata Tower or the Hagia Sophia. Breakfast every morning was excellent--and the view from the rooftop terrace cafe was incredible. The staff were very friendly and especially helpful (especially for me, without any knowledge of Turkish). I had baggage problems with the airport and they went out of their way to help me resolve them. I note that the property is located at the intersection of several major streets and so traffic noises can be loud at times--but I suspect that is true throughout much of Istanbul (esp. those on the tram lines). I highly recommend this property.

The huge win about this hotel is the team working there, from reception, to concierge, to the dining team, they are all brilliant. Extremely friendly, very helpful go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. The sea-view room was beautiful, lovely features and very spacious. The breakfast offering is in line with other hotels in Istanbul, not a huge spread but still a number of options.

Only word of warning is that it is in a busy location with lots of night time activity, so it can get noisy. That being said, it also offers great views from the terrace which is also due to its location.

From being picked up from the airport to checking out was absolutely perfect. We requested early check in and they did everything possible to make that happen. Then our converter wouldn't work and hayreddin at the front desk literally gave us his charger so we can change our phones for the time we were in istanbul. They even set up the shuttle service back to the airport at 4 in the morning. Every single individual here is so nice. The rooms were great. We stayed in both the hamam suite and regular room and they both were great. They are extremely accomodating and i would 10/10 stay here again.

The value for the price was excellent. The hotel has a prime location in the European side of Istanbul. The room was very convenient and the staff friendly and helpful. The view of the city from the hotel terrace (breakfast spot) is amazing. The light was low in the bathroom, so maybe this is something the hotel may consider improving. The room service team was changing all the towels daily, so maybe a more eco-friendly options should be considered? Overall, my experience was positive and I highly recommend the hotel.

The location is very good. The building is falling apart. The audio unit was broken and they didn't do anything about it, neither have they any information when I follow up with them on its status. The bathroom door got locked for some reason and it took them more than 24 hours to fix it. So we ended up w/o our stuff and had to use the restrooms upstairs over the night, couldn't shower in the morning and had to remind the receptionist twice the day after until they finally had someone fix it. The worst part was that they did not acknowledge the problem and did nothing to expedite the repair process or to make it up to us.

We were unfortunately on the lowest floor. I am also. The room was nice, but not sure what made it qualify as a suite. Appreciated the fresh juice at breakfast. Breakfast room is a bit crowded.

N+N = Nice and noisy!!!

If you like to be around of activities, now this is the place. Located just a few meters if the Galata Bridge surrounding for restaurantes, cafés, bares and histories
Places! The hotel is a traditional Turkish type and was renovated. If you are looking for a quiet place, change your mind, this is not. Breakfast good on a nice terrace.

Nice clean hotel

Over all nice clean hotel close to public transportation large rooms, large clean bathroom and shower, comfortable beds, helpful and friendly staff, very good breakfast, (hot and cold) in rooftop with nice view I'll stay there any day .

There was a problem with the A/C unit every time I entered the room I had to contact the front desk to connect the A/C which the room tephone was not working so I had walk down stairs. Shower head was broken. Do not get the TAXI true the hotel staff. They will charge you extra. With $109 per night I could do lot better than this.

Fantastic location with great views and access to public transport. Staff were excellent. However if you are a light sleeper this hotel is not for you as the traffic and pedestrian noise is very loud all through the night.

The property’s standards aren’t what they used to be we’ve stayed there many times but this is the last time I’ll stay there. The air conditioner was constantly turned off we had to ask reception to turn it back on it was about 35-36 degrees in Istanbul why would a hotel to the AC off? The shower head was tiny and the water was not draining so basically you had to take shower in dirty water! Toilet wasn’t flushing properly and to top it off they left dirty dishes in our for two days even after I called and ask reception to remove them. I repeatedly asked them not to turn AC off but clearly it didn’t work so to make it short stay elsewhere if you want service and some luxury.

The location is excellent - walking distance to all main attractions. Breakfast each day was superb & the view from the rooftop balcony is unbeatable. On the down side, there’s no on-site bar or restaurant, although there are restaurants nearby & the air conditioning left a lot to be desired.

Great hotel

Great old world charm and fantastic location, right on the Bosphorus, looking at the Golden Horn. The staff were very courteous, polite, and helpful. The location was super convenient for walking to everything, from Galata Tower, or across the bridge to Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, and Topkapi Palace. The only downside to the hotel was that it had no bar and only offered breakfast. But, that wasn't an issue for us, as we went out each night to explore local restaurants.
