My only complaint is we were suppose to have a handicap room. The toilet was too close to the ground and there wasnt proper hand rails in the bathroom.

If I could give it 2.5 stars I would, it was clean and the room was nice. The main issue was no hot water for a shower, not freezing cold but not warm either. I was going to a funeral and needed a shower so taking a cold shower was necessary. Fastest shower ever I think I still have soap in my ears .

Everything was amazing! I've stayed in good and bad hotels, but this was by far one of the best (and a hidden gem at that!) Just a little ways from Jim Thorpe, our hotel had a mountain view, with the snow and icy dew on the hills. It made for a great place to stay!

KICKED OUT OF CANDLEWOOD SUITES IN HAZELTON, PA FOR LIFE SAFETY COMPLAINT
Kathy and I checked in about 4:30 pm on October 6. Our room was on the lower level. I think it was 104. I walked the wrong way down the corridor when I got off the elevator. I noticed that the Fire Sprinkler Test Room Door was open to the outside (see photo). I figured the staff was actively working. It's a bad safety practice to leave hotel or dormitory doors open to the outside, unattended. It leaves the floor open to violent criminals or vandals. In a Test Room, opening the wrong sprinkler valve will activate the fire alarm and empty the hotel. So vandals are a concern.
Around 5:30 we went to supper. I re-checked the Test Room and it was still open to the outside. This time I took photos. There was nobody in the corridor and nobody outside. We took the elevator to the Main Desk and I told the Assistant General Manager (A.G., I think?) the story.
He said that a crew was working in the area. I explained that I looked all around and nobody was there at 5:30 and the floor was wide open to the back yard. (photos)
I said I want this filed as a complaint and I request my room be compensated. A.G. said he had to check in with the General Manager (J.D.). This prompted several calls back to me as A.G. spoke to the General Manager and relayed his orders. They called the Police and kicked us out. (Full story on my Facebook.)

To be fair for this review I did not stay at the Candlewood Suites that night. However I did briefly walk into the room for inspection and it was fine.

But what bothered me the most it was on the \"lower level\" floor with no easy emergency exit in sight. I would have to take an elevator to get on the main level and exit. I immediately felt very claustrophobic. In case of an emergency evacuation I needed to see a convenient way out! And I realized the chances of this happening were practical till, but I just knew I would not have rested well at all.

Thankfully the receptionist understood and tried to find an alternative room. That was unsuccessful. I was not charged for my stay and again appreciated the staffs co-operation.

I left and was able to find an alternative stay. This was more of a personal issue than a property one.

Most of the apartment was very nice on first look but when I walked around the room I had reservations about the cleaning. My white socks were filthy after walking around the floor for 15 minutes. The floor also was very slippery when walking around in my sneakers. You could easily fall.
The towels in the bathroom were very thin and small. They did not dry well overnight.

It was very convenient right off the highway. Having a kitchen was also a bonus since I have celiac and travel with my own food. We did eat at the restaurant on site, Diamanti’s, which was delicious but be warned, it was not cheap. The property was recently renovated and was very clean.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the 2nd morning and 2nd night, I was killing small bugs on the bathroom floor (5 in total). They seemed to run into a hole in the left corner where the vanity met the floor.

The person who checked us in was very nice and personable. I booked two rooms one with two double beds and one with a king size bed. The room with two double beds was fine. The other did not have a king size bed as I reserved. I think in her attempt to get us close to the second room she booked what she could. Would have been better customer experience to either ask if we were ok and if she couldn’t accommodate the reservation make some sort of concession on the price or something. I don’t get what I paid for. Other than that it was fine.

The wooden chair in the room was obviously broken. The tub did not appear to be clean. There was dirt/hair in the corners. There was dirt in the hallways, as well as a leak in the ceiling in the hallway. There was, however, a beautiful view of fields/farms and mountains from our window. The kitchen in the room was nicely furnished with dishes.

Property is built into a mountain. Beautiful views. You enter on the 4th floor with the majority of the rooms on floors below the main floor. No breakfast option. The hotel is being renovated. There was construction materials in the hallways. The hotel will look much nicer when work is completed.
