The rooms and amenities haven't been updated in decades, multiple things broke in my room during my visit that the maintenance team was unable to take care of, the garden was dirty and lots of the common areas were either non functional or effectively abandoned.

Stayed 2 nights. Cleanliness was ok. Room was clean. Bedsheets were clean and bed was comfortable. Room size was fine.
The white shower walls were not clean. They had marks on them which I was able to wipe off with wet wipes. Hot water worked in the shower. Air condition made a lot of noise. We had to switch it off. Staff were great. I had to ask for an iron 3 times, however every other query was attended to straightaway. The team were really helpful.
Breakfast was good. Nice ambince. Cutlery was heavy snd expeneive looking. Freshly made omelette were delicious. The guy playing the guitar, Charles, was a lovely touch.
Gym was being renivated do we had no access.
Main issue occurred on the 2nd night when there was some sort of party. Being woken up by base from music at 12am is not ideal. We called reception and even went down. They said it would be over soon. It wasn't. It's a 5 star hotel and the least people expect is a good night sleep so if you're going to have a party tell the guests when they book so they stay somewhere else if they wish, or make sure your rooms are soundproof.
Neither happened, hence my score and I'm being generous as I was so annoyed if I had filled this in on the day it would have been lower. Would have given 4 stars out of 5 if not for that.

Whilst I was satisfied with the service I received at the hotel. I think this is a legacy hotel with just the name keeping it going- hotel to me seems stuck in the 1980’s. Hotel needs complete renovation to bring it up to date with current, Morden and merging hotels around. Perhaps the target is more for the older generation.

I think you guys need to stop doing business with the hotel, I booked the hotel and when I called to confirm, they said I don’t have a reservation and kept asking where did I book it. The moment they knew I booked it with hotel.com which was cheaper. I had to reach out to hotel.com telling them the hotel said I don’t have a reservation. Hotel.com called them and that moment they said they found my reservation. They are using my his for business, giving the rooms to the highest bidder

The rooms are so small and you can forget about putting clothes away for your two week stay you have to keep them in your suitcase the closet space is non existent. The room filter was bad because I became so sick when in the room. Also the staff barges in your room after saying to wait. Federal Palace has that vintage grandeur especially around the foyer, which is nice. Also has very nice grounds at the back with a nice view of the water. Externally though, it could do with a refresh and....what's the intent with the seemingly empty and gradually degrading tall building next door to the main hotel? Hopefully the owners will get the investment required to fully utilise both buildings,as the hotel is a classic.

I was in the area for 10 days for family. My first impression was great! Check in was smooth, but when I got to the room it wasn’t the best experience. I had to change rooms and it made it a little better. I had to be ok for staying there for 10 days. Something came up and I had to go to another state and the hotel made accommodations for me to return. On the second check in, it was a difference between night and day. Everything was clean, smelled nice, clean sheets! I was very comfortable for the remaining of my stay. Breakfast was very good. I was also pleased with lunch which I had twice and we did room service once. They had options that were good if your not use to eating African food. This hotel was family friendly and quiet, they had a small casino and a comfortable bar for adults. If your staying during the week the pool was very quiet and comfortable. Weekend was family weekend. But I would recommend you stay here.

This hotel is unfortunately a shell of its former glory. Musty smelling carpeting, old furniture, noisy air conditioning, sewage smell, blocked drainage and cold showers tainted my stay here. Granted, the garden is gorgeous along with the tranquility of the morning breakfast which also stands out as exceptional. Pool is also very kid/family friendly with the slides and a mega sized bouncy platform. Will I recommend it. No! I had to move rooms 3 times. I definitely overpaid and I’d rather stay at one of the newer hotels.

It’s an okay hotel but standards just fall short. It’s a different policy depending on who you talk to. Also had a room with a kid and even though says includes breakfast found out it’s just the adults and I had to pay for the child which was never advertised. Also I couldn’t have visitors come see me by the pool without them paying to get in which doesn’t make sense so really felt let down by the standards and did not have as great a stay as I would have liked as kept having to compromise to suit the hotel rules.

The grounds of the property are very nice. The pool area is inviting. The water slide broke and was not repaired before I left so I did not get to try it. The room was a nice size but was in need of renovation. The building is obviously old but that lends to its charm IF it were well maintained. There was a smell of mold in some areas, the room felt damp and there was a smell of engine exhaust when the power was being run by generator.
The meals were very good and there was sufficient variety. With some upgrades and renovation. this property could be superb.
