This is a solid choice for a hotel in Chiang Mai. Located just north old city, the hotel provides free shuttles to all the markets in the area as well as a reasonably priced shuttle to the airport. Nice breakfast, nice pool, all for an affordable price. I was very happy with my stay here.

This hotel is good. It looks like it is from the 1970s. We had some issues with the housekeeping staff not restocking our room (particularly towels). The front desk staff were very helpful.

Wouldn’t stay here again

Overall the stay was fine but the room was poorly cleaned and often not cleaned at all because the cleaners came so late in the day. Bathroom had lots of small insects crawling around, surfaces seldom wiped and dirty tea and coffee cups were never taken away. The hotel is also very dated and badly in need of a refurb.

In time of the corona everybody have to reduce its demands in case of the services in a hotel but the staff

A convenient hotel for sightseeing

The building is not new but the room was big and clean. The staff was very well trained, helpful and friendly. Not in the center but close enough to most sightseeing spots. The hotel is right next to a big supermarket.

Service was good, as with most of Thailand. The hotel looked a little dated which doesn’t not help with the overall cleanliness and feel of the hotel. There were small ants around the room, which although was not a huge issue, was not ideal. The free shuttle to the night bazaar was a great touch as you are a little out of the way from the old town.

Fourth satisfactory visit.

This was our fourth time staying at the Mercure Chiang Mai and, realistically, I doubt if we would ever stay anywhere else on any future visits. The staff have always been very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I am unable to comment on any aspects of their food as we have never actually eaten there. We invariably take advantage of the free ‘shuttle’ bus which the hotel provides to & from the Anursan Night Market, which is an added bonus to our stays. The only ‘downside’ of the location of the hotel is that there isn’t really anything in the way of restaurants and bars locally, but the lobby staff can recommend suitable establishments and taxi rides to/from them aren’t very expensive.

Hotel was old, and had a LOT OF ANTS.
Location was good. Most of their clients were busloads of tourists. Noisy and messy.
Location was good for my needs. Only mainstream hotel in this area. Otherwise I would stay elsewhere. Wifi reception was poor.

Very noisy, bring earplugs

I stayed during Chinese New Year which was a busy period, however even then I was surprised by the amount of noise occurring at 2 - 5am in the morning. Any slight sound in the corridors is amplified and can be heard very clearly. My friends and I stayed in different rooms on different floors and we experienced the same issue.

This is a pretty run down property. It needs major repair. The owners are obviously just milking it for revenue or the manager doest care or hasn't got any money for maintainable. Our room was pretty dirty as well. Long black hairs in shower. Dirt in all corners. It was over priced for the money.

Comfortable hotel near to a Supermarket

We had a good experience in this hotel. If you are looking for an economic and comfortable hotel this is a good option. The breakfast wasn't included but it is very close to a Supermarket where we could buy many things and snacks. There is a tourist office next door and also inside the hotel (both are the same), we booked a tour everyday there, the prices were very good and the service excellent.

Good for the price.

A good motel that needs some renovations if it’s going to remain in the ‘Mercure’ chain. We were upgraded to ‘luxury’, but we’ve stayed in better ‘superior’ accommodation. Staff were great. Location is OK if you don’t mind catching a ride to shop, eat etc.

It's been the best hotel for its price range so far on our trip- 4 hotels so far! Super comfy bed and great bathroom . I also booked a1 hour in room aromatherapy massage for $400 baht ... wished I upgraded to $700 for 2 hours . She was wonderful !

Couldn't sleep due to a bunch of youngster making noise till wee in the morning. Started 4pm till 4am. Called reception, no action taken and I even warned the kids I have a baby less than 1yrs old travelling with me.

Upon check in told the secretary via email that I want a peace and quiet room.

For the price, it's ok hotel

Friendly staff but I did came across few bad staff (night staff) she was impatience and rude.. But I don't care. Was in a deluxe room on level 5. Room has a very strong mouldy smell, With Towels, they don't give you a fresh towels each day after your room is clean but reuse from your old towels. Disappointing but that is not the first other hotel in Bangkok seem to do the same. If you want test them out, properly wet all your towels. If I knew that earlier I would not throw my towel on the floor. Properly this is to safe money. Free tuk tuk service to night market a bonus! I would stay again because of the price and location

Front desk would only give one key for the two of us. We booked double occupancy. Charged 500 Baht cash deposit which I was never told about. Luckily I had the cash because it was midnight when we checked in. Restaurant food was expensive and was low quality. We ate once there and went elsewhere after that.

The hotel was in moderate condition, a bit outdated and older. It was not super close to any good restaurants or shops or the downtown area but we rented a motorbike to get around easier. The motorbike rental was through a hotel connection but it seemed to be a bit overpriced for the area. The bathrooms were severely outdated and old but worked fine, our shower had good water pressure. The room was kept clean and new towels were provided daily which was nice. We enjoyed the pool and it has a deep end and good relaxing chairs but no bartender or service provided. Overall, an okay hotel but if we visit again we would pick somewhere closer to the downtown area.

Mercure is a decent hotel at Chiang Mai Thailand

The hotel seems relatively old though it is decently maintained. The rooms are comfortable and the beds and bathroom are clean.The breakfast buffet is wholesome and is the same every day.The staff is extremely courteous though language could be a barrier at times.

Staff was great and the value was the best I've seen in Chiang Mai! We had a group with three rooms and all received free upgrade rooms with California king beds. Had water celebrations on the street the staff set up a barel and hose for everyone, along with live music. We were treated very well on our stay here.

We had a fantastic stay here. The staff were wonderful, friendly, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a 2 min walk to the fresh food market, and a quick tuk tuk ride into the old city. Nice food and cold beer from the restaurant and the kids loved the pool.

Good for money

This hotel was the cheapest of the ones we stayed at during our trip to Thailand (we paid 35NZD per night for supreme room)
And it was reasonable for the money we paid.
The hotel staff were friendly, the bed was massive and very comfortable, the A/C was great and the pool was nice and deep.
The breakfast was average (the is a fresh fruit and food market not even 5min walk which was amazing! So we went there instead). They advertise a free shuttle to the night markets, which seemed to akways be booked out by really early in the morning as it was a 5 story hotel and only one van. But in saying that the taxi was always between 60-100thb each way. It is about a 10min drive to the night market.
The internet didn't work in our room at all- we could only use in lobby.
Overall for $35 a night we were happy, but I would prefer to stay closer to the old city or night markets so you could walk places if you wanted. This was a little far but if you are on a budget and want somewhere nice enough then I recommend!!!

Nice hotel away from the main tourist attraction

Staff were very friendly and even though they do not speak much English, at least they attempt and it shows their sincerity and those that speak better English gave good direction that allows me to experience Chiang Mai on our own without blowing a large hole in my pocket.

Even though the breakfast is nothing to shout about, it does offers the essentials and its more than what I am looking for as the plan was to explore the area and eat the local dishes.

A great value hotel. The room was perfect for my requirements. The bathroom was basic but clean. The bed was absolutely massive but very comfortable. Air conditioning was effective and didn't keep me awake all night like the noisy ones can. The surrounding neighbour isn't great, but it is only a 10minute walk to the city walls and from where you can get transport to take you to all the major sites. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an affordable and comfortable hotel in a handy location.

Our overall experience at this hotel was good. However we were disappointed to find the hotel located to the north of the old city some 10 minutes walk from Chak Puak Gate but the website clearly positioned the hotel close to Thapae Gate!
A second problem was being woken in the early hours to find our room filled with fumes, we prepared to evacuate and found the corridor, fire escape and reception also filled with fumes! We were told by staff that it was routine mosquito prevention!
We understand that this is necessary but simple notification of the event would have prevented our distress and consequent sleepless night.

Quiet and comfortable hotel

The hotel is clean with big room. As I was staying in the newly renovated Deluxe room, the room was well furnished and clean. The only complain I have is the very small TV (25 inches?) and the water temperature of the shower. The water temperature of the shower keeps fluctuating, a moment hot and the next moment cold which can be quite irritating. Other that that, the stay was very pleasant. The free shuttle service to the night market is particularly useful. Hotel staff are also friendly and helpful. The surrounding is also quiet and away from the pubs and night clubs.

Great hotel, bit of walk to the Gate.

Was heading to Chiang Mai for Yi Peng and the Lor Kruetong festivals and of course booked hotel later than hoped.
Had been to CMai few times so was familiar with the layout of where I wanted to be, especially with friends that had
never been so knew they wanted to be close to the action. This was not my first choice due to the location, but
the luxury of the hotel more than made up for it. While it didn't provide meals, that was actually better for us
as we were all about the local restaurants.
My particular room got upgraded with a huge bed and clean non-carpet floors. My travel mates ended up having carpet
which wasn't as nice.
Front staff were all friendly and very helpful with wonderful English. Due to the festivals, were not able to
extend more days there which we would have liked to do.
Would consider staying again.

I BOOKED 13 NIGHTS AT THIS HOTEL, WHEN I GOT TO MY HOTEL I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I WAS THERE FOR A LONG TIME I WAS UPGRADED TO A BIG ROOM ON THE 5th FLOOR OVER LOOKING THE POOL. EVERY ONE AT THE HOTEL WAS VERY NICE TO ME AND VERY HELPFULL. I WAS HAPPY THE WHOLE TIME THAT I WAS THERE.

Nothing spectacular, simple rooms, location ehhh, not near most of the foreigner stuff (that's more towards the East gate of town where the Starbucks, night markets, and Mexican food restaurants are). Not bad though. Nice, clean, cheap restaurant in hotel, and the tour office next door is very helpful, but it's obviously cheaper to book things directly in town.

Excellent Hotel to stay in!

Excellent hotel to stay in, would definitely recommend. We upgraded our rooms when we got there which also included breakfast and this was well worth doing. Staff couldn't do enough to help, and we booked a few trips there with the travel agent which came out really cost competitive. Also tried out the pool which was lovely and clean. Only slight downside is that the hotel was a little bit further away from the main hub bub of restaurants/night bazaar area than we realised. It wasn't walking distance but cab or tuk tuk was fairly reasonable and the hotel also ran a shuttle service but make sure you book in advance. Would go back again!
