Excellent stay in a beautiful town

We had a lovely room on the second floor. The air conditioning was efficient and very quiet- a real plus in the heatwave. We parked easily in the courtyard. The pool area is surrounded by walks and trees so there was plenty of shade as well as sun loungers. The receptionist was very helpful and explained everything thoroughly. We had a great breakfast as well. They had gluten free bread for me, which is not always the case in France.

This is a nice hotel, conveniently located towards the centre of old Beaugency, but possessing a large, attractive courtyard with ample space for parking and secured at night. Our room was not large but it was not paltry, so it felt comfortable and it was very clean. The shower room was decently appointed but one drawback (which prevents us from giving the hotel five stars) was the fact that the shower head was damaged so that it was impossible to align it to give an overhead flow: to be fair, if we had been staying longer, we would have requested a repair or a room change, which would presumably have resolved the problem. The staff in all areas were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide range of savoury and sweet foods (including some wonderful cakes to support our weight gain) available without restriction. We would stay there again if we were in the area.

This was a lovely property in a pretty town with lots of restaurants and bars close by, but it was very quiet.
The staff were very friendly and the lady who greeted us spoke very good English and was extremely helpful, booking a table for dinner at a local restaurant, lending me a phone charger and getting us drinks.
The room was well equipped and comfortable with a lovely shower.

Step into Beaugency from this lovely old inn

We had a lovely break exploring the beautiful town of Beaugency. The hotel was an old converted coaching inn with lovely architecture that has been beautifully renovated. The staff were extremely helpful. The pool was an added bonus and the breakfasts were very good. The hotel is dog friendly as well. We had a room looking out onto the road which was a bit noisy. If we went back we would ask for one of the courtyard rooms. We would certainly stay again.

Unfortunately the pictures advertised are nothing like the real thing , unless we had the worst room in the hotel. Stains on carpet, burn marks on heating rail , mould on toilet flush , I really feel disappointed, cost £145 a night no breakfast
I'm going to email the hotel and contact my credit card to ask for a refund. The room we were in was nowhere to be seen on the advertisement

Good parking on site, but the rooms were disappointing. I booked a standard room & expected it to be of same standard depicted in hotel advert. It was not. After moving from a room with no windows, we were given a ground floor room with a window opening onto the street. The decor was mismatched & dated. The shower flooded the floor. There was no mirror in the bedroom, just on a wardrobe door that you could not use. Overall, after 3 weeks in France, staying in various acommodation this was the worst!

The room we were given was no 34 which bore no resemblance to any of the pictures on the website it was very dark,and although clean perhaps gave the impression it wasn’t ! The shower took 5 minutes to reach a reasonable temperature.Staff we’re all helpful and pleasant. Whether it was the time of year there were very few restaurants in the town open on a Friday night! One actually took a internet booking and emailed me back after the booking to confirm they were closed!

- we never were able to use the parking, it was always full
- no restaurant option on Mondau and very little alternatives. Hotel did not have any recommendations on where to go instead
- breakfast was average. Some days there were no eggs, cueue at the coffee machine, no bacon,...
- tiny room: never slept in such a small hotel room in my life

Our stay at the hotel was very restful and nice. We drove down from London that night so had had a long journey but the hostess was helpful and sorted our room, helped us make a reservation for dinner etc. She even recommended a lovely walk for us to explore the area, which we did the next morning. Recommend booking here for a quiet stay.

This is a lovely hotel, extremely comfortable in Beaugency - a delightful town. My superior room was spacious, warm and full of surprises. A coffee maker, mini bar with free water and snacks and a stunning bathroom. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Car parking in the rear courtyard was so easy and a lift made taking luggage to my room simple. Breakfast was good and the hotel is well placed for its own and nearby restaurants in the centre of time. Highly recommended - I would certainly stay here again.

Lovely old hotel in old town area. Nearby restaurants available as well as on site restaurant. Parking also available. Large room, seperate toilet and fridge in room also. No lift but not too many stairs. Only downside was shower had no screen and flooded the bathroom floor all the time! Would recommend if staying in a Beaugency. Bed was very comfortable.Our room was very quiet and although the hotel was full we heard no noise from any other rooms.

Beautiful hotel in centre of lovely town

We had a spacious room with a Juliet balcony, clean and comfortable if a little dark (top floor room and lots of wooden beams!). Hotel grounds were beautiful and the pool was a great addition! Plenty of parking. We had dinner in the town rather than the hotel but the in-laws had breakfast there and they said it was super, good choices and very fresh. Beaugency itself is lovely and you can easily work along the Loire river from the hotel.

Having had such a pleasant experience at this small hotel a month ago we decided to chance it again on our return journey from SW France - we were not disappointed. Friendly accommodating staff, well appointed rooms of a high standard and a delicious (buffet style) breakfast. This will become a regular stopping off point whilst journeying to and from the Lot. The small town of Beaugency is simply charming and well worth exploring. Certainly recommend it to our friends.

Stayed on the way down south. Charming place ,rooms clean and good size.
Receptionist friendly
Menu....well a disaster unless you like calves foot...should at least have a simple main to choose from! Also I had scallops with creamy sauce ...only came with one tablespoon of cooked celery 19 euros!
My friend had a piece of beef and asked for potatoes...was finally given frites!
Nice dining room but very off hand service.For that reason I have cancelled my return stay on the way back!

A lovely find n a very pretty village. Room was lovely but our room backed into a side street which was busy with school drop offs and you couldnt leave blinds up or window open. Good overnight stay in very clean room with safe, fridge. Village has a self service laundry which was very useful.

Little gem in this beautiful city's

Stayed in a superior room which was very spacious and very clean. The hotel is having a complete renovation but didn't hear any noise. It is an old coach house being upgraded with very good taste and modern facilities; which is unusual for an independent French hotel (most private hotels stayed the same as 30 years ago).Beautifully located right in the centre of Beaugency with a parking within the hotel. Nice big bathroom with all amenities needed. Air conditioning, safe, mini bar (limited stock but free)... Pleasantly surprised by the standards of this hotel considering the very reasonable price tag. My only criticism would be that there is no stand for your suitcase. It would be a small investment but a big plus to protect the walls as well as your back. Didn't have breakfast as we had to leave early but would most definitely recommend this hotel and will be back next time around.

Nice hotel in the city center of a small town.

We wanted a hotel from where to have easy access to the castles of the Loire Valley. This hotel was just perfect for us. The town is very quiet, and the hotel was very comfortable , clean, friendly personnel, everything worked, including thr WI-FI. The price was absolutely great.

We even had picnics on the banks of the Loire river, there are picnics places and the river is close to the hotel.

In a word I would come again to this hotel and warmly recommend to anyone that want to visit the Loire Valley.

Location ideal for touring Loire area. Advise booking car park as it soon filled up. Recently refurbished hotel due to an EU grant, with very elegant decor and large spacious superior bedroom.Excellent queen sized bed with good quality bedding and pillows. Good lighting and a/c. Large and practical easy to use shower with soap holder (often missing in hotels) Illuminated shaving mirror. Heated towel rail.Only negatives: noisy door closers, ill fitted curtains, a/c a bit noisy, poorly stocked small empty mini bar (3 items!). There was no one on reception to check us in, only waiters.This was at 7.30! No information at all in the rooms about hotel facilities No check in at all after 10 p.m. Elegant but almost empty restaurant, we ate in the busy brasserie.Fixed menu was o.k. but portions were small. Loose wine very expensive - €16 small pichet and this was in the Loire Valley! No signage for lifts or exits to car park, possibly hotel not finished yet.

We last stayed here 40 years ago on our honeymoon and it has improved! The recent renovation has been well carried out and the hotel and rooms are comfortable, with decent beds. It has its own parking in the courtyard. The food in the restaurant and brasserie was well presented and well cooked but a bit pricey. The hotel is situated in the old town of Beaugency which is very attractive with its own chateau and lovely walks by the Loire. It is a good centre for visiting Chambord and Cheverny.

Convenient stop on the Loire

We have stayed at this hotel on our way to south-west France on a number of occasions and over the years have seen it improved and up-graded. We have always enjoyed the accommodation and the food. On this occasion we were a little disappointed. We arrived at 3.30pm after a five-hour journey and were given the keys to a room that was still in the process of being serviced. There is no lounge at L'Ecu so it was suggested we might like to look around the town. This was OK but we have been to the town before and I would by far have preferred to be in our room. Dinner in the restaurant is a set menu with a choice of 5 starters and the same number of main courses and desserts. One of the starters was not available and one of the main courses had been changed. One starter had a supplement to pay and 2 main courses had supplements. Although the restaurant is quite big, guests had been put together on a cluster of tables possibly because it made it easier to serve. My chair was frequently being knocked by the person serving the neighbouring table. All in all, it was not as good an experience as we have had previously.

Fine and not great

There was a good place to park our bikes. The town is really lovely, and we were in a good location for both the bike path and restaurants. Staff were fine, but not especially helpful or friendly. Old part of hotel is more interesting, but the new part has a view of the town. Good value, I think.

DON'T PASS BEAUGENCY BY!

Beaugency is a little town of overlooked beauty and quaintness. The hotel is situated ideally for market and walking. Recently remodeled, the hotel was lovely and accommodated our bikes.

Well placed to explore Loire region with its wines

Warm welcome. Great setting, safe parking centre of village life. Super bed beautiful pool. Would love to go back tomorrow!

A beautiful hotel in a historic town

We used this hotel as a stop over after journeying from the South of France to Calais. with two small children in tow. The town is not too far of the peage and hotel had adequate parking - both essential. GPS helped enormously in finding the hotel in the medieval streets. Double ajoining room for kids was fine. Clean rooms and good bathrooms.
