We stayed here at the end of our tour of Cambodia. We stayed at five star properties the whole trip and were frankly underwhelmed by Raffles in comparison. Essentially, it was the low season and they were short staffed. Concierge was often unattended, not enough staff around the pool that was often occupied with max guests. For the price we paid (for a shockingly small room that they advertised as a suite) we felt that the attentiveness to us as guest staying for four nights was lacking.
In a more positive note, staying at Raffles is like stepping back in time and the actual building and the grounds and decor is lovely to spend time around. It’s just a bit soulless when it comes to the service.

The breakfast choice and quality is absolutely great.

The rooms are quiet and offer the peaceful athmosphere to relax from a busy work day.

The hotel was good and the staff's we're courteous.
The concierge was always empty without anyone. English-speaking staffs were not there. There's no one to guide tourist attractions when we approached traveldesk.
The complementary tuktuk driver was very rude to tell me that he's busy in the afternoon and and told me to pickup your own transport.
I never expected this to happen in a 5 star hotel. The complementary facilities available was not well communicated leaving me guessing.
I wanted to spend my milestone celebration and was not satisfied for the money spent in this hotel.

An exceptional hotel with lovely amenities and very friendly and helpful staff. Nicely located. The hotel will recommend a walking tour of the area, will call you a tuk tuk, and will arrange for a hotel car and driver and local guide to give you a private tour.

Beautiful hotel. 95 year old well maintained property. Good location. Doormen wear traditional Cambodian costumes - very charming. Fresh roses and sweets awaiting us in room. Great service and good food. Only drawback is the bathroom products. They are in ceramic bottles. The shower gel got knocked off shelf and shattered all over shower floor. Products need to be in
plastic containers.

The hotel is lovely and clean, pretty and comfortable.

My issue is with the service / training. Within the main restaurant in this apparent 5 star hotel I was very clear about being vegetarian and not eating meat or fish. Firstly I was delivered a dish with beef in that was not ordered, then after explaining again and being apologised to I was given a dish with fish sauce. All fairly unacceptable, especially with the prices being so much more expensive than they should be here, I had better service / understanding at the local street food vendors!

During my stay I had booked a car to take me back to the airport, this was confirmed with a lovely handwritten note with my key. Upon checkout they seem to have misplaced my booking so had no transportation and was told to book my own. When my car arrived to the hotel I was told by the concierge that the car I had booked with the hotel was waiting for me.. a rather confusing and exhausting experience which just put a dampener on the day.

The elephant bar is a lovely place to relax - sometimes, on other nights it appears to be a rowdy, loud unpleasant place to be with shouting guests / a heard of screaming children running around.

The hotel was an oasis of calm in a magnificently busy city. We had a colonial sweet. The room was absolutely lovely have a large size. Of note was the kindness and help with the staff. The swimming pool was lovely. The breakfast buffet was the luminous with stations from all of the various areas in the world. The restaurant Le Royale was spectacular in the quality of the food. Highly recommend this hotel.

Everything was beautiful and in a traditional and unique style. We particularly liked the bar which had great food and drinks and we liked the resident pianist who played us songs from a great playlist. For sentimentalists this hotel is great. The pool is particularly lovely. The breakfast also has a very wide choice including freshly cooked (enormous) waffles.

.i had a very nice room on the ground floor at the rear of hotel,which was slightly noisy with traffic.Didnt bother me. My girlfriend had a room on top floor quiet and with pool view. We had a disappointing main course first night in the relaxed \"Asian restaurant \" The manager was superb,and dealt with the issue. The Elephant bar was fabulous, great atmosphere & cocktails. Gorgeous swimming pools with outside eating .

I've stayed at Raffles Le Royal three times over the last ten years, it never loses it's charms- it's is a rare gem of a hotel that combines excellent service with a beautifully preserved historic property. the beautiful swimming pool, surrounded by large trees, is my favorite part. Building is older and is a landmark; shows a lot of history. However, if you want to stay with a bunch of tourists then this is the spot. Way overpriced for a tiny room. The population that stayed seemed a bit older (in their 50s - 60s+) so don't come expecting a party.

The raffles service isn’t as legendary after all

Raffle service has not lived up to its lengendary reputation- the level of service is mere basic and generic lacking personal touches compared to park hyatt Siem reAp where I stayed at 4 days ago prior to coming to Phnom Penh. For example the door man didn’t really greet us but only to look at us up and down, when u ran into staff in the Hall way they barely smile or stop to say hello, even the pool guy simply pointed at the cup when I ask for water without saying a word. The heritage of the hotel is fantastic and how well they have perserve it but I feel like I can get better and more personalised service at a cheaper hotel. The raffles brand isn’t what it market itself to be.

I stayed in the annex. The rooms are OK but expect nothing special. They may be slightly dated. This hotel is slightly below its counterpart in Angkor. The pool is pleasant and the location is fantastic.

Try not to stay in the annex but that will depend on occupancy.

From ice sculpted red hearts in the dining rooms and poolside viewing of a romantic film on Valentines Day, to evening laps in the wonderful pool, to early morning coffee listening to birds in flowering trees near the balcony of our room - we enjoyed it all.

For anyone just a little interested in Cambodian history and luxury, Raffles is the best place to stay.
It was simply a great experience!
Just one note of caution: Rooms with a garden view may be quite noisy as the garden is small and right next to the street. And Cambodians do get up early....

It’s a great hotel. Rooms are decorated like the 1930’s. Beautiful pool and a fully equipped fitness center, with whirlpool and steam bath, which I didn’t use. The buffet breakfast is tasty and costs about US$28 altogether. Business lunch specials for US$22 for 2 courses and $29 ++ for 3 courses. Don’t miss the Elephant Bar, with excellent cocktails and 1/2 price drinks during Happy Hour. Just a couple minor problems. Several times, it took me 3 calls to finally reach operator. Don’t know what problem was. Toilet is like 1930’s toilet. It sat low and needed to flush better. Besides that, it was a fine visit. And I’d stay again, when the price is right.
