We had a wonderful stay at the Sunway Hotel Phnom Penh due to the professional and friendly Staff. We had a issue within the room and we spoke with the Front Desk at breakfast and when we had gotten back to the room after breakfast, the Maintenance Staff was already working on the problem and it was completed before we went out before lunch. We were always greeted with smiles from the Staff whenever we would leave and return to the hotel during our stay.

This is my second time staying at this hotel and it's suburb. A five minute Tuk Tuk ride to the Phnom Penh night market, which is great for shopping. You can also catch a river boat ride in the evening. I will be back here again.

I enjoy this hotel very much close to the river and the Phnom Penh Night Market. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious. They have àn excellent restaurant and the prices are reasonable. I will stay here again.

Great service fromthe Staff, I think they put me in a room as far away from the works as possible as I only heard the odd bang. Its noticeable that Reception is very modern and the room floors are a little dated. Room very good, view of Wat Phnom. Good string shower. All very good.

Good but old hotel, some nice features that made it charming, But a huge construction project directly in front. I wasn't loud and didn't disrupt my sleep, but doesn't look very nice when you walk out the front door. There is an old bar with a lot of charm, seems like a blast from the past.

The hotel staff are very friendly and the stay okay. The room furniture are old but still good in condition, probably can say it classic.

The food in hotel is very expensive but the taste okay. Breakfast not much of choices, the taste okay.

The hotel surrounding has no convenient store and restaurant/ cafe. I went to AEON mall to buy some snack and beverage to keep in the hotel so I can enjoy them at night.

If you have not stayed at The Sunway, you're missing one of the truly legendary experiences in Phnom Penh. Often overlooked by tourists and travelers, Phnom Penh really is the heart and soul of Cambodia. Folks rush through in a hasty day then continue to Angkor Wat, etc.
Maybe this is a good thing for those of us that love this wonderful little city and its inhabitants.There are more expensive hotels, more funky hotels, but none more classy and classic than The Sunway. Perhaps I shouldn't reveal this little gem?.The Staff are World Class,second to none.They cannot be matched in this city, nor in most cities. Exceedingly courteous and genuinely friendly. Management can deliver on most any request and beyond., This is Old World Chic. Clean and spiffy, elegant design, 100% solid to the point that you will not need to concern yourself with wiping your room down. LOCATION! Directly next to the legendary Wat Phnom traffic circle and of course Wat Phnom, and across the street from The American Embassy. Easy walk to the Riverside, Night Market, Royal Palace,etc. I stayed here nearly 14 years ago on an extended trip through Cambodia. It was the hotel highlight of that trip. Since then I have spent perhaps 40 nights, over several trips. Many of which just recently. The Hotel is Mythical to the locals,and for good reason. Like a trip back in time, The Sunway is surreal in its ability to out perform the competition. Is there anything better? 15 years and 45 countries later I say, NO!

I was there on 29 Apr 2018 for 1 night stay. There is a construction site on the left of the hotel building. Not loud noises when I was there but the staff gladly arrange for a room on the right side of the building. There is free wifi for use at the lobby for hotel guest, do get the password from the reception.

Internet speed is too bad,not even 512KBPS very difficult to download files and takes forever. Saw a notice that they r upgrading the network though.
Hotel food is forgettable. Worst pizza in recent times and also the breakfast buffet has nothing much.

Overall the hotel is great, but the facilities is a bite out of date and need to be upgrade. A swimming pool is great for tourist to enjoy the stay in hotel. I go to this hotel often and from the time you arrive at the entrance to the hotel the doormen are there to greet you.The staff at the reception will come to you to greet you and welcome you to the reception desk to check you in. The welcome is real and warm from there on every member of the staff who are known to me will come to welcome, Makes you so homely. Even the General Manager will come to welcome. All the managerial satff who are know to me will be there at the reception desk to talk and make you feel homely. The drinks at the bar are well priced and stocked the staff are very helpful and attentive. The food at the restaurant is of a high quality and a good choice to select from the menu. The house keeping is done well and the rooms are well cleaned with clean linen and towels. Every member of staff in this hotel works so hard and the public arears are well maintained and kept clean. Checking in and checking out is so simple and quick, well done all the satff in the reception.

The hotel is conveniently located near wat phnom and accessibility to other places is via tuk tuk which is available in front of the hotel. Taxi may be requested through front desk which is more expensive (USD 12) but they can provide receipt which is great for business traveller. The hotel offer \"Prok Free\" meal which is great for Muslim traveller and there is a Halal restaurant at the back of the Hotel. The hotel offers quiet and superb tranquillity as if is far from main road. I would recommend this hotel for business and holiday.

I stayed at this hotel early this month with my family, we had 5 rooms . no problems when checked in , everything was organised . The only downside is they don't have a pool, other facilities are available , gym,spa ..
Location within a walking distance from the river and front of the US embassy .
Very recommended .

1st time to stay

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during my last trip. It is directly across from the US Embassy. There are a number of things that are important to me in selecting a hotel. (1) Quiet, (2) Good Internet, (3) Genuine Non-smoking Rooms, (4) Clean. This hotel met all my needs and I will definitely stay there again. I did not use the restaurant so I cannot make any comment about the food. Staff was friendly.

Regrettably, due to a flight cancellation, I couldn't stay my full stay at the hotel to experience all the amenities it has.
The room was very clean and well-decorated and spacious. It had a kitchenette and a separate dining/living area. The hotel price included free breakfast and wi-fi. The neighborhood was okay, not much for shopping, but the cultural/historical site of Phnom Wat was right next to the hotel, and was a pleasant visit.
The staff was helpful and friendly.

This facility is most definitely due for renovation!
Breakfast - is just terrible!!! Staff in the restaurant is ignorant and they are not pay any attention to customers.
The only positive experience is Spa - very, very professional!

A perfect review

It is a grand older hotel next to the US embassy. It is a tour used hotel with very kind staff.But that is in all of Cambodia. Room is clean not perfect but clean Harder than needed beds. Breakfast was o.k. That means it had the usual for a large hotel buffet. Not great.coffee was a bit tired but o.k. Safe feeling at the hotel.Guardmen outside. Tuk tuk drivers not allowed in which is good They will get you one in 3 seconds Dont be a tool and negotiate to cheap a price to the S21 high School torture musuem. Give this hotel a Phnom Penh 4 But if it was in Siem Reap or Saigon more like a 3.5 By all means great if you dont like the smaller artsy fartsy hotels a bit closer on the river. One downer no pool.

I made a mistake in choosing the Sunway hotel.

We requested Sunway hotel for the airport pickup, but nobody was waiting for us at the airport. When we arrived at the hotel by a taxi and went to the lobby and the check in counter, I had a feeling that I made a mistake in choosing the hotel.

Sunway hotel is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but it's no where near my expectations. What most bothered me when we stayed was that our room's wall to the next room was like paper. We could hear everything from the room beside us.
We were not comfortable staying in this hotel, therefore we moved out from the hotel for two nights even though we paid for 4 nights.

However, the breakfast buffet was excellent.

My advice to viewers is to book one night and get a feeling of the hotel, if you don't like it then take a look at another hotel unless it's high season.

Good hotel but overall impression marred by the fact that neither lift in the main lobby was working. Had to use service lift or service stairs and both were a bit grubby.
Hotel does not have its own swimming pool but nearby Raffles Hotel pool is superb and can be used on purchase of a Raffles day pass at a cost of 25 USD - worth every penny!
Would not recommend walking down to the river at night from the hotel unless you go in a party of 4 or more, as parts of the route are poorly lit and pavements in very poor state.
