Arrived on Sunday Evening at 4.10 pm and there was a huge queue for check in . Eventually got to the top of the queue and started the check in process . However the room was not ready at 4.40 pm . Check in is 3 o clock . I was told to wait and that I was now being prioritised and that the room would be ready with the next 30 minutes and to expect a call . After 30m I went back up to reception and still no room . Eventually a manager I presume gave us keys to the Tower section of the hotel and I was told it was an upgrade .
No explanation or apology was given rather I was simply told that it was busy . Several other people in the queue had similar experiences.
The room itself was good except for the net curtains need replacing as they had a huge hole in it and was discoloured . Pool and sauna was adequate while the gym is excellent. Breakfast was hot and good quality , plates were small and need to be sized up . Fresh fruit and meats were plentiful however sourcing a bowl or place was difficult. Hotel is central and shopping centre beside it . Free parking was a nice touch and the staff in the restaurants and bars were friendly.

I called prior to arrival about room service availability on Christmas Eve 24th and Christmas night 25th and was assured it was open 24/7. This was not the case. I planned to order room service for 4 people and have snacks while opening gifts in my room. We did not shop at Dunne’s due to being told room service would be available. We didn’t starve but were very disappointed at this misinformation. Otherwise, good stay.

I highly recommend the Sheraton Athlone. The room was very large, clean, and comfortable. Check-in was very smooth and staff members were pleasant and helpful. Parking was free,convenient, and extended through the date of check-out. The breakfast was outstanding. There are a number of restaurants in the vicinity as well as shopping.

All-in-all a great spot to stay in Athlone. This is our second time in this hotel and certainly would return again. Exceptional location with many shopping and eating options at walking distance, direct access to Athlone Towncentre and underground parking included. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Ask for directions operating the temperature control in the room. It was either too cold or too hot, never managed to keep it steady at a comfortable temperature, in the rapidly changing fall days of our stay. Restaurant service and food were very good. We tried La Provenze, the lobby bar, room service and the breakfast buffet and all were very good and the staff were always pleasant and ready to help.

Excellent solo traveller experience.

I came alone for a weekend away and had a very pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable and full of very convenient amenities such as the fridge, air con, coffee and tea facilities. All the staff I dealt with were very pleasant and made the experience amazing. I went to eat in the restaurant and even on a busy night the staff where attentive, pleasant and polite and the food was excellent. Normally the single dinning experience you can be made to feel like an inconvenience but this was not the case here and a very pleasant experience I made sure to inform the manager of on my way out. I love the pool facilities,it was relaxing after a long drive to be able to have a swim and relax. I have and will keep recommending this hotel to others and I will be back to stay again myself ☺️

We arrived late at night but check in went well and we were able to arrange for a later check out. I had a massage at the spa which was amazing! Our kids loved the pool, with the fountains. It was disappointing that they did not allow children in the hot tub, at 12 and 15 it seems odd to us that they were not allowed in. The breakfast offered a lot of choice and great quality.

I arrived late and was not able to enjoy all facilities. The late menu too 'heavy'.

I booked in very last minute and got a good price, it was a really lovely place to stay. They have a few different sections of the Hotel and I was a little bit of a walk through those sections to get to my room but it did mean it was very quiet. Very good parking and of course it’s connected to the shopping centre so that was handy in the morning for me.
