Check in was completed by a friendly Australian young man and a very friendly local lady. Rooms were spacious and clean. Only issue - no fridge, but a minor issue. Great location-short walk to the many local pubs which were fabulous for drinks and food. Short walk across the bridge to the church and castle as well as the oldest pub - Sean's Bar. Had a great time.

The room had no ventilltion/fan in bathroom, so when we arrived, there was condensation all over the windows and a dank smell. Told the stay, and I think they just wiped off the windows while we were out. Other than that, good location and price, so get what you pay for

Check in was welcoming and friendly. Room was comfortable. Pillows could have been firmer but that’s a personal choice. We ate in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good. We used the pool for a swim. It is a little run down in areas. Breakfast was just ok. Only a few croissants left at 9.30 and not replenished. Coffee wasn’t great and the hot food was tepid. Nice stay overall though. The staff were very nice.

Hotel was very central to all shopping, and very accessible to all amenities. Regarding the parking was fine , with the exception of the electric car charging on site, the low charging station could take 2 cars but was continually occupied by one car for 3 days without moving from the station. No consideration for other electric vehicles trying to charge . To make matters worse the car was not fully electric but a Hybrid !!!! The only reason I could see for this ,the ev station is beside the Hotel entrance .When ones car is charged it should be moved to the hotel car park

A huge facility in the small town. The room was spacious and the breakfast was ok and well managed, but we do not recommend this hotel because: 1. we were provided a wrong room type, 2. the hotel staff were not friendly and professional, 3. one of the two elevators/toilets/coffee machines at breakfast were out-of-order - not well maintained.

Although we booked and paid for two rooms several months ago (in March), the hotel sold our room (reserved in September). They called us in the evening while we were driving there to let us know they sold the room and wanted to send two of the four in our group to a different hotel that was not in close proximity to the Radisson Blue Athlone. All other hotels in the area were booked. We were sharing a vehicle and it wasn't possible. They apologized but it ruined our evening. Four adults were crammed into a \"family\" room. Two adults slept on children sized beds. We were so very disappointed. They gave a fruit basket but the damaged was done and it didn't nearly make up for it. It was simply greed on their part.

Stayed for 7 nights the first night there was what I found out to be a “traveler” wedding which was extremely loud until nearly 6 am. Didn’t complain cause those people are dangerous. The lack of AC in the rooms and there being like 7 channels on the TV was annoying. Oh and if you want room service past like 9:00pm was given the option of a ham sandwich or a pizza the staff literally yold me I’d be better off ordering take out so I did.The stay was fine but I was disappointed seeing as I’ll be back in Athlone regularly was hoping this would have been the place to stay but I think I’ll be checking out the Sheraton next time.

Upgrade issue

Hotel was great. The only issue we had was that we booked a river view room and we were given a suite overlooking a parking lot (king bed with 2 bunk beds and we are a couple with no kids). When we went to the front desk, they said the river views were fully booked and initially refused to give us the room we had booked. A manager was called and promptly corrected the reservation. Everything else was wonderful.

Extremely poor ventilation as the windows open only an inch, a tabletop fan was provided at my request but it did nothing to help the heat and stuffiness in the room. It was 24° outside but the room was much hotter, it felt like being in a hot car. The water from the shower and tap smelled strongly of fish, I could smell it on my skin after showering. Staff were notified but they told me they could do nothing about it. I regret wasting my money here.

The hotel was very nice and location is great. However, after I checked out i was approached by the girl on reception to say that i hadnt paid for drinks which were ordered. It was for a Coors and a Guinness, neither of which i drink. There was some confusion as to the charge and it was only after I spoke to another receptionist that it was sorted. I didnt order those drinks. This was an embarrassing situation and I was rushing for a train as a result of this delay. I was told there had been a few issues with bar staff!

The hotel is ideally located, with superb views over the river Shannon.

The check-in staff were very accommodating & efficient and the bar/restaurant staff were equally proficient.

The hotel is displaying areas requiring a little TLC, however, during our stay decorators were working towards improving the overall standards & appearance.

In our opinion, the hotel offers excellent value for money.

We would recommend the Radisson for anyone visiting Athlone and the surrounding areas.

I’d definitely recommend the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone! The staff were friendly and helpful, the food delicious. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. I only stayed for one night, but wish I could have stayed longer!

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel with very helpful staff we were given an upgrade on the room as it was my husband’s birthday the room was lovely with a great view mabey an extra couple ofsmall towels would be great hard to wrap your hair in large towels i know i could have asked but didn’t bother so not a complaint just an idea lounge area was lovely as was breakfast

I was disappointed by level of attentiveness by front desk. The leisure facilities were delayed opening and I was not informed when they were open even though asked if that could be done. There was little regard for my written comments on how the situation was addressed. Expected more respectful responsiveness from such an established hotel.

The government issued an alert to not travel due to a rare red weather event. There was significant damage to trees, homes, & debris on the roads. The hotel refused any refund & did not offer any credit or other voucher.

Could do better.

We stayed for 1 night. Room very clean but bed was terrible. 2 singles pushed together and no proper topper on the bed so you could feel the mattress rims in the middle. So uncomfortable and had 1 normal pillow and another small square cushion type with a pillow case . Very strange and not comfortable. Ate in the bar food was ok but quite expensive. Staff very nice. Probably wouldn't return as bed situation was ridiculous and unnecessary.

Our hotel room was very clean and the property was nice. We had a small view of the river from our room.
The mattress in our room was uncomfortable - the springs felt as if they were protruding through and our pillows were extremely flat. We didn’t sleep well, but everything else was lovely and the staff were accommodating and friendly.
