The first room we checked in had very strong chemical smell and even the electrician who came to fix the bathroom room power noticed the smell. We changed to another room but the bathroom had faucet leaking. The room was in poor condition. Breakfast quality was not good and the staffs not well trained. This hotel is lack of management. the only reason I gave it 2 stars is the great location.

Novotel Nanjing is an excellent base to explore the beautiful green city. My 4 night stay was comfortable and has access to the metro, shopping and plenty of options to eat. There is a convenient shop called Lawsons next to the hotel for miscellaneous snacks and drinks. Breakfast was included and there were Chinese and western options. The only downside of the breakfast was that the menu was pretty much the same every morning. My room was a decent size worth adequate amount of power points. Overall I would highly recommend Novotel for its central location and comfortable firm bed.

The carpet in the room was not very clean to the point that I felt uncomfortable walking around with bare feet. The bed was very hard and didn't have a topper. Good location, but public transport in Nanjing is very good, so I would consider staying elsewhere in future. Breakfast was ok but there were only few Western choices. As Novotel is a French brand I hoped for a decent quality Croissant, but unfortunately they were small, stale and inedible

I have issues with this hotel, although our stay is comfortable.

My card was charged for a ¥990 transaction which I have no idea what it was. It wasn't the deposit of ¥1200 which was refunded to my card. This transaction was actually billed!

I went to their official website to email for a billing invoice but the email address listed: [email protected] was an invalid email address that bounced back.

I resorted to messaging them via Expedia but there was no response.

I have no idea what I can do to refute or to clarify these billing, leaving me with no choice but to pay for them.

Horrible experience with this hotel billing!

Staff at check in was warm and friendly. However, room condition was poor. The aircon broke down on the 2nd day and since we were checking out the next day, staff did not bother to offer us to change room. The technician eventually brought a fan into the room for ventilation. The window opening was not big so ventilation was minimal. It was a warm and stuff night to sleep through.

Property was located much further from the MRT than it appeared from the reviews - it is between two MRT stations but is at least a good 10 mins walk away from either. The hotel’s air conditioning system provides fresh air service during our stay which perplexed us as the room’s temperature was between 28-33 degree (Celsius) each time we got in the room; it was so stuffy that we had to request for air cooler machine and opened the window! While the reception services were excellent, the hotel restaurant where we had our buffet dinner was just the opposite. The waiter and waitress walked past our table 3 times without clearing the used plates.
We had a small steamboat on our table and when I requested it to be removed, the waiter just came and removed the candles section leaving the steamboat stand and dirty utensils on our table ! The restaurant was not busy at all! The captain was on his hand phone..... It’s really not worth paying 99 yuan per pax for that kind of dinner n service. That probably explained why the restaurant had less than 8 tables of customers that night ?

Direction to Hotel from airport. Take train S1 to Railway South Station. Fare is only RMB7. Change to Line1 at South Railway Station to Xinjiakuo Station. Make a 10-15min walk to exit 14 and once on road surface look opposite should see Novotel. Novotel is very middle of shopping mall, therefore shopping and places to eat. Check-In counter is very efficient and staffs are very friendly. Everything you would expect from an international hotel branch. One minor issue is TV remote control was not function properly. It only worked if it was hold near to the TV . And in the morning it get a little noisy as it face the main road. Other than that i would recommend staying in Novotel.

The hotel was located at a very convenient location - in the middle of a vibrant downtown, right across from a shopping mall, a metro entrance and a taxi stand. At first glance, everything looked to be about a four star hotel but upon closer inspection, the marble entryway to the room had not been mopped for awhile, the shower door had not been maintained so that water puddled after every shower, and a towel was found to have residual human waste even though it was presumably washed.

A good aspect is that the hotel had English speaking staff.

Novotel Central is a few minutes away from Xinjiekou Metro Station (exit 14). There are numerous shopping malls as well as a few department stores in the area, which offer great shopping and a huge selection of restaurants. Be aware that the final stop of Wanda Plaza by Airport Shuttle Line 2 is not the Wanda Plaza opposite this hotel - apparently there are four Wanda Plazas in Nanjing. Hotel reception staff were very helpful, especially when we needed to pre-book a visit to Sun Yatsen Mausoleum (中山陵) (entrance to the mausoleum area requires pre-registration and for online registration a local mobile number is needed, which we didn't have).

The hotel room was sizable with comfy beds; the hotel also offers a selection of pillows to suit different preferences. Bathroom was a bit odd - it was one of those \"modern designs\" whereby the shower cubicle and the beds were separated by a glass wall. There is a blind for privacy but it is located on the bedroom side of the glass wall.

One thing that the hotel could consider improving on would be to expand the limited international TV channels currently available.

On balance, this is a great hotel for sightseeing (a few metro stops from key tourist sights), shopping, and food. Will definitely stay in this hotel again if I was to make another visit to Nanjing.

My only suggestion for them would be to vary the breakfast buffet options a little more. I was there for 4 night and the breakfast was exactly the same items everyday. Gets a bit monotonous after a week.

The use of glass in my 9th floor room made it feel spacious. I like the fair-trade soaps. Maid service was good. Convenience stores and restaurants are an easy walk away. On the downside, the carpet was stained, and the bed gave me backaches. I would stay here again despite that.

Staff have been so amazing looking after us. We had to visit the hospital 2x times due to toothache and food allergies, they helped us get there and they even came a long on the trip to be our translators. Staff always rang to check up on us and see how we are doing. This is the best service my family and I have had from a hotel. I would definitely recommend this place to my other friends and family. One of the best hotels I've been to in China. The staff were outstanding! From easy check-in to a warm goodbye they were really very good. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was included and I wasn't disappointed with the range of food available. The hotel itself is in an excellent location in central Nanjing very near the Xinjiekou metro exit 14. The hotel is next to a very busy street. 90% rooms are facing that streets.
If your room face streets, will be very noisy because all drivers downstairs hitting the horns non stop!!

1 tip : Don't trust the map location. The hotel.com app is using google map which always show wrong location in the app. You need to search using address instead of following the app map direction.

Modern, no frills hotel in the heart of Nanjing

The property was built in 2014 and the facilities are well maintained. Location is excellent with plenty of shops and restaurants around and it is right in the heart of commercial and business district. The downside is traffic can be very congested during peak hours. Breakfast and restaurants are catered mainly for Chinese / Asian travelers. The premium suite is good value particularly for couples.

The hotel is well located in central Nanjing, close to a subway station and within walking distance of some museums. My room was modern and comfortable and the hotel staff were very friendly throughout my stay. My only concern was the slowness of the wi-fi. I stayed in a hotel in Beijing before travelling to Nanjing, in a similar price range, but the wi-fi in the Beijing hotel was much better than at the Novotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on vacation in Nanjing. One of the best things about this hotel is it's location. Its very close to a subway station and basically in the middle of Nanjing (not too far from most places). A Walmart is right across the street from it as well as a pedestrian street 2-3 min walk away. Also right in front of the hotel (near the closest intersection) in the evening there is good street food.
This hotel has a very clean modern feel to it through out the entire hotel. The most of the staff speaks at least some English to get by. The restaurant in the hotel could be better but for its convenience and taste it's good enough for me. The buffet was good; there was a lot to choose from. I feel like people just set the buffet and just left. They were not really on their game keeping things fresh or good looking, but again ... good enough for me. Also the mystery cocktails at the buffet were flat and watered down ... horrible. The cocktails at the bar near the lobby were good, a little over priced but good. Overall there really isn't much I disliked about this hotel.
