I was greeted with kindness and a great smile! I have some questions about the area and the receptionist provided a map and detail information. I was so impressed, that I booked for one more night, so I could take a trip to Fatima. Came back and room was all clean and ready for my return. Hotel location is good but does not have nearby parking. Finding parking was a challenge due to a local community event. The view from the hotel room was very nice and street noise wasn't an issue with the windows closed. However the A/C (heat pump) was very noisy and overdue for maintenance. Unfortunately the Wi-Fi was slow and spotty.

Our room faced the river with a nice balcony. The location could not have been better.for walking to the sites and restaurants. The front desk was very nice and helpful. Air conditioning provided. We missed seeing the free parking lots, but found an underground parking garage for a daily rate of 6 euro. To note …. You pull your car in before you take a ticket at the gate entrance. You , or a passenger must go up to the attendant at the window and ask for a daily ticket. Otherwise it is 20 euro per day. The parking garage is near to a main square and on the way up to see the castle.

There is no lift but the staff helped me with my luggage checking in and checking out. They were really lovely! Parking was difficult because main lot was closed off…but they communicated that and options well in advance. Breakfast was good. The room was large and I even had a private little terrace!

Beautiful hotel in the middle of everything! Newer rooms. Breakfast was very nice. Customer service was excellent. Our only problem was getting in and out of the bed. It was in a platform between 2 walls. So we had to crawl out of the bottom of the bed. This is because we are older and not as flexible anymore. View of caste was very pretty!

This was a very clean and bright hotel, close to the cultural attractions of Tomar, and many restaurants. Staff were extremely polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good, with a selection of breads, cheeses, ham, turkey. fruit and cereals. Also yogurt. Free parking is a short walk away, across the bridge. Be aware that there is no place to stop and offload your luggage right in front of the hotel. The room was excellent and appeared to be recently renovated. Our room included a mini kitchen with a microwave, fridge, cooktop, dishes and utensils. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Tomar. Note - no elevator, thus not suitable if you have mobility challenges.

The location of the hotel was ideal. However, the hotel is marked parking on site included. There is no onsite parking. There is free public parking across the river, but no way to stop and unload at the hotel. This was fine for us, but might negatively affect someone with mobility challenges. The lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. She let us store our bags at checkout so we could tour the town. This is a very good place for the price. It is very close to old town and many restuarants and grocery stores. Highly recommend.

The debit was cute and references the town. The person at the front desk was always pleasant and helpful. However, I walk with a cane (guest house didn't know) and we're were on the 2nd floor. It was difficult. The bed was surrounded by three walls, so we had to literally crawl into bed from the foot. The was also a stair up to the bed, and my husband almost fell when he got up at night. Not a good fit for a couple in there seventies.

Thomar Story Hotel: A great place to stay
I had a lovely six- night stay at the Thomar Story - absolutely no complaints whatsoever. After 10 days driving solo from the UK across France and Spain, the hotel was a perfect oasis of peace and quiet. A lovely, well-appointed, clean room with masses of hot water and the staff are all friendly and helpful. From the hotel, it's an easy two-minute walk into the historic centre of Tomar with its many cafes, bars and restaurants. Thomar Story will certainly be my first choice hotel next time I am in the area.

On the positives. The staff was so welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure. The location is great, very close to the old town and several restaurants. The B&B had been renovated and was very clean. Breakfast was decent, not great, but convenient \"in-house\". Also parking is free, but in various parking lots a bit away from the hotel, so be ready to drag your luggage to the hotel as there is no way to park even shortly by the hotel (busy street).
On the not-so-positives. The AC was a nightmare: it came on \"softly\", but quickly turned into a \"diesel tractor\", noisy and vibrating like mad, then soft again - and repeat. No way to sleep with this very loud AC. So, no AC, we both were completely drenched through the night from the heat and the humidity - did not sleep much. We reported the problem - first were told that \"we are waiting for the technician\", second that \"oh, so loud!? We really need to call the technician...\" So probably a known problem, yet not addressed. Disappointing and frustrating in light of the heat wave. Nicely they comped us for the breakfast, but that does not address an almost sleepless night.

Nicely they comped us for the breakfast, but that does not address an almost sleepless night.

It's super clean, easily accessible from the train station. The breakfast is really good, especially for 5 Euros. It's right at the edge of the old town, which is absolutely lovely. Also the Convent is easily reached (15-20 minutes uphill).

We stayed two nights at Thomar Story while walking the Camino Portugues and highly recommend it. This is a lovely small modern hotel in a great area of central Tomar. It’s only a couple of hundred meters from the main square with its cafes and shops and not much further to the castle and convent. Perfect location.

The property is well located. When we first arrived we were given a room that looked like a student dorm, not a single bit of colour on the walls, with a small double bed enclosed on both sides. We asked for a room change and got a much nicer room that actually had nice wall hangings, and a small balcony on the street. The breakfasts were not included but for 5 euros, were good. Ask for good rooms

Thomar Story Guest House was such a pleasant surprise. Completely Renovated and just so comfortable. We were in a room that had a kitchenette, only drawback it was on the 3rd floor! (No lift) but the ambiance more than made up for the climb with heavy bags, which the girls at the front desk offered to carry up. Appreciated the Nespresso machine and pods. Arriving early they didn’t hesitate to allow early checkin. In fact the staff couldn’t do enough to help make our short stay memorable. Ample free parking nearby just across the river. Whole heartedly recommend

That's precisely what those of us who now call it our house aspire to: to make it a home, for us and for you, with all that a home entails – memories, warmth, shelter, celebration, conviviality, tranquility, comfort.
And, being a house in Tomar, it was mandatory that everything should remain the same, as much as possible, while change took place, so all the valuable architectural elements have been carefully preserved. At Casa dos Ofícios, we are inspired by that passion for doing well what there is to be done and we honor those who have done so in the past.
Each of our 14 rooms looks at one of the many arts and trades which in the past have shaped the history of the city, adding up with their daily labor to the monumentality of one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. We don't aim at compromising your rest with thoughts of work; we have not aspired to blend an hotel and an ethnographic museum; and we certainly don't intend to sell you “handcrafts” of dubious origins.
With something like small cabinets of curiosities, we just keep and display fragments of the ways used to do one's best in several activities, memories of a not so distant past and of those who helped in building the setting of our present. It was and is also through their work (and that of so many others) that Tomar was and is made, in this pleasant and leisurely way of exercising the art of existing.
And their memory inspires us to do our very best for the privilege of welcoming you.
