One of the best places we stayed in France. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We got in late (around 9:00 p.m.) and asked if we could eat at the restaurant. Although it was at the end of the evening, they allowed us to have dinner there and it was a spectacular meal. The room was clean and comfortable. So much so that we decided to extend to another day and have the hotel as home base. The next evening was even more pleasant. Highly Highly recommend this place.

Awesome place to stay. The staff spoke good english and were very helpful. Manuel and Sebastion were very knowledgable about the area as well as its history. They were great to have around to help my family and i with planning our route to hit all the spots relevant to the allied invasion of 1944.

We stayed two nights on a family trip around Northern Europe and this was one of our favourite hotels on our three-week trip. This place is quite charming and historic and the location on the town square couldn’t be better. Nice spot for a quiet rest in a comfortable room. We did not try the restaurant. The staff were excellent.

A Gem within minutes of the D-Day beaches and the

Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Room was very comfortable but stairs were quite steep. Restaurant was brilliant, 3 fixed price menus and full a la carte. Great choice of wines from 25 ish euros to over 2000 if you want to push the boat out. Would definitely go again when in the area

Friendly hotel in a good location with superb food

We all enjoyed our two night stay here from the welcome and especially the dining experience. Lots of choice on the various set menus. The house red wine is an excellent choice, blended for the hotel and sporting their own label. Good parking for out motorcycles under cover. Set in a pleasant village with a nice sports bar across the road and a Chateau nearby. Very close to the new D-Day memorial.

Food fantastic. Very surprised to go down to dinner and get Michelin quality food at normal prices. I grew up hearing about fantastic food in roadside French cafes and Bistros. Never found one until now in my mid fities. And this is it. The hotel is a bit quirky and off the beaten track but well worth the money,.the food is the real gem and worth going out of your way for great French food here.

This was my 3td visit to St Martin. A wonderful family run hotel with so much history inside and out.
The meals are absolutely delicious and the location is perfect for access to the DDay beaches, Caen, Bayeux and so much more. Highly recommend!

Happy Canadian Family!!!!

This is an amazing hotel dating back hundreds of years. If you're interested in WWII history, it is also steeped in that Montgomery ate in the restaurant, and there is a picture in the restaurant of the first tank from the Canadian Hussars regiment in the town (they shot at the church steeple...I think they missed!). The service is excellent...all professional. The rooms are up three stone spiral staircases. The rooms are 'older' but steeped in character. The beds are comfortable, and you have everything you need. The restaurant is outstanding. We had a very reasonable plat d'jour for an excellent price. (My boys had the rabbit and loved it (ages 15 and 17). My wife and I are coeliac...less options, but they knew what we could and could not have. You don't need to buy anything more expensive than the house wine. The breakfast was a traditional european affair with a basket of croissants and baguette (all eaten by my boys) ham and cheese, and yogurt. The pot of coffee was perhaps the best I've had in France to date. Check out the photos in the morning eating room (signed Winston Churchill note!!...and one from Monty!!!). All in all: an amazing place. Please both stay and eat here (and enjoy the historical French ambience).

1 night stay for beach visit.

Stayed 1 night while visiting the historical beaches with wife and 2 children, room was comfy and staff were very attentive. Restaurant was great and fairly priced, the table was ours for the whole night. Its not at all modern, which was another reason we liked it. There’s also a small carreffour mini market opposite which was ideal.

Very friendly staff. The property is a pretty unique, old building. The rooms could use an update, but were very clean and quite spacious. We opted for the breakfast and it was delicious. The location was perfect for our visit to the historic Normandy beaches. Overall, I was very happy to find this affordable, convenient and lovely hotel for our one night stay.

Spacious for 4 peoples, clean and has heat so comfortable. the restaurant downstairs serves delicious French food. breakfast is croissants, baguette and coffee. everyone is very helpful. wifi is good even in the room. only thing I can say maybe change some towels a little bit worn.

Have stayed here twice now in the past 2 years . Excellent location for the Beaches and Caen / Bayeux. The staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming. The food is delicious. There are some stairs to climb, no elevator, to the upper floors but expected in a historical building. Highly recommend!

An authentic Normandy experience

The Hotel was well located for an overnight stay whilst touring the Normandy area; the covered secure parking was a bonus for my motorcycle. The Hotel staff were attentive and polite, both the room and bed were comfortable. The view of the fields/castle at the rear of the property was beautiful. I enjoyed a 3 course set menu in the busy restaurant downstairs, the wine was especially good; but I found myself located with all the other Brits in an annexe, c'est la vie! I had a walk around the Town had a beer in the Tabac, got my breakfast in the Boulangerie and some water and fruit in the local convenience store. I enjoyed my stay,

The hidden jewel of Normandy

Felt like were living our fantasy in a Medieval Castle, but with all the modern conveniences. Incredible ambiance with antiques, beautiful old architecture from the 16th century, circular stone stairs, domed ceilings. Manager was so friendly and accommodating, like an old friend. The food was delicious and beautifully served. The only thing I could even remotely complain about was the bathwater could have been hotter.

We had an amazing stay here. The staff were extremely kind, friendly and patient (as we practiced our French) and the food was amazing (the various prix fixe menus were excellent value - with incredible variety). The sense of history at the hotel and pride of place is everywhere. We also found the hotel very conveniently located to touring the D-day beaches and cemeteries, as well as visiting Bayeaux and Caen. Plus, Creully itself is a charming village. We would highly recommend the Saint-Martin to anyone visiting Normandy.

Charming Hotel in a Small Town

We stayed here for 3 nights while exploring Normandy. The hotel was nice, and the people were friendly and helpful. The town is small and quiet, which was perfect for us. But if prefer more options near your hotel this may not be the best place for you. There is no elevator because it is an old building, but it is unique and has lovely character. Very pleased with the stay.

We stayed here for a couple nights to see Northern France before spending some time in Paris and it was well worth the drive. An easy (with GPS) 3.5 hour drive from Paris airport and you find this castle converted to a hotel. The beds were comfortable and the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is a 30 minute drive to the Normandy beaches and about an hour from Mont St. Michel. Both are highly recommended visits if you decide to leave Paris for a short time. The staff was friendly and attentive and made for a very pleasant stay. Do not expect there to be much in town though as the small town is literally shut down by the time you finish dinner. Earlier if you are there on a Sunday. The breakfast was nothing fancy, just baguettes and croissants with jellies and honey, but they were super fresh and delicious. I've never been so pleased with such a small selection. Great place to stay.

Amazing stay in history rich Saint-Martin Cruely

My daughter (21 years) and I stayed here in late June while we explored the Normandy Region including the D-Day beaches, cemeteries and memorials, Bayeux and Caen. I booked the hotel on Expedia based on the information provided, not having visited the area before. The Staff from start to finish were absolutely amazing. The food was well presented and delicious (Breakfast / Dinner) and the atmosphere at the hotel was wonderful. From the time we arrived to our departure (reluctantly) 4 days later we were made to feel at home. The staff are very knowledgeable regarding area history and made our stay that much more special with books and pictures of the hotel and its history. We are definitely returning for a stay on our next trip to France and I would highly recommend this location for those who enjoy an excellent meal, a great room and have an appreciation for history !

Overall, Hostellierre Saint-Martin was a very charming hotel. Service was very good and staff were very accomodating. Be careful with spiral stairs. No elevators. Our elderly parents had hard time walking up & down stairs. My family of 4 (2 teens) enjoyed our stay. The restaurant was out of this world which outweighs all else. Best seabass i've ever had. Hotel located in Creully is outside Bayeux city centre, only 10 min away. Bayeux tapestry is in city centre. Normandie beaches and major sites are not far by car, about 30 min.

Good stay, a charming hotel for cheap

The hotel had a character and quality, not found in others at this price point. Breakfast was disappointing, but I think it's (some breads, yogurt, drink, little fruits) like that in France (from USA). The neighborhood was quiet and nice to stroll in the evening. The room smelled of cheese too much, but I guess that's another thing I can't complain in France. Overall, I'd stay here again if coming for Normandy - must have a car to come here btw.

The highlight of this hotel is the amazing restaurant they have and really friendly staff.
I wouldn't even know where to start. Everything was so good we are actually planing another trip to France simply because we wanna go there again. I just hope it doesn't get too popular.
Room was cozy, and clean, bed was comfortable, heating appropriate.
The building is this medieval like house converted into a hotel but with some of the features kept like brick works and stairs or the back yard, feels like each brick have a story to tell. Great value for what they deliver, thank you all the team specially the twins (shame I can't remember the name of the boys) and we will be back

This is a medieval building. It's old. You go your room climbing a circular stone stairway through a turret from the restaurant. The rooms are tight and the bedding could use new blankets but overall, it was charming. The town is in the middle of nowhere.

Don't miss the great restaurant!

If you don't choose to stay here, you should stop for dinner. The dining room is lovely and the food and service are great. The hotel is a great value if you are in Normandy to see the D-Day beaches. It's about 20 min from Caen; 15 from Bayeux, car is essential. The town of Creully is very charming, but the hotel is the main attraction. If you want lots of shopping and restaurant choices, this is not for you. If you want a quiet respite from the activity of the towns, then stay here. It is inexpensive, parking is easy, breakfast basic but good (great coffee), and the dining cannot be beat. The owners are very welcoming; this is a wonderful little place.

Truly an old style quaint hotel. We enjoyed the hotel although the toilet room was a bit small. we slept good and enjoyed the breakfast. We would stay here again as we all enjoyed the feeling of the French countryside and the town. Had the best pizza of our trip across the street from the hotel.

Mistake!!!

This was the 2nd hotel scheduled for a 3wk trip to France. We were impressed by the look of the hotel, and it's advertised 14th century charm. We were booked for 3 nights but could not stay after the 1st night. While we knew the hotel was old, we did not expect the stairs (no lift) to be the original winding narrow uneven concrete ones. The bed was uncomfortable to the point we barely slept & woke up in pain. There was only a thin bedspread, and we had to use the only spare thin blanket folded up as a pillow. The 'free wifi' was so weak, you could barely check mail & the cable/satellite incl was only in French. Not even CNN or BBC. None of the staff spoke English at all, except the owners but they were only there at dinner time, so concerns went unaddressed. I will say the dinner was excellent and good thing too because beside the pizza place across the street, it was the only restaurant for miles. To make matters even worse, everything in the town closed at 7pm! Unable to go anywhere, watch tv, or surf the web, being unable to sleep made for a long uncomfortable stay. Apparently we were not the only patrons checking out after only one night because they didn't even try to talk us into staying, attempt to correct any issues & their reservation book (handwritten ) was full of white out, with the whiteout pen closer to the book than the ink one! Even on checkout it took 5 tries to pay for the room & dinner because the internet kept timing out on them! Stay away!

Outstanding restaurant, Good Hotel

Rented a family room with two doubles and a single, the single bed around the corner from the main room and all by itself (served as a second bedroom). Was very nice for my older daughter to have a \"room\" of her own.

Hotel/restaurant staff were great, minimal language barriers as most had a working knowledge of English combined with my pathetic attempts at French. The restaurant staff was exceptional, and made our dinner a wonderful experience. The price of dinner was about average for France, but the quality of the presentation and the serving sizes were top notch.

Parking is right next to the hotel, but can be full if near meal time. There is a larger lot next door that we parked in until the hotel lot was free. They locked the parking gate at night, so if you have an early morning make sure you let them know in advance.

There are two very good bakeries across the street, and we hit those for breakfast every day. Also a pizzeria directly across the street and a creperie/grill just down the street that was decent.

Overall, a good stay and would recommend to friends.

Norman rustic charm

We wanted a hotel within easy driving distance from a late evening ferry landing at Oustreham (Port for Caen) and Hotel St Martin in Creully seemed ideal. Also an excellent location from which to get an early arrival at the Bayeux Tapestry. Very easy to find the hotel, with easy street parking. Clearly an old hotel, with stone steps up to our room on the 2nd floor - no lift. Room itself was clean and tidy, with furniture which reflected the period charm of the hotel. Slept well - did not notice any traffic noise from the road outside. Simple, but adequate choice at breakfast, friendly service, not expensive at all.

Hotel and everything about it was first class. From the twin brothers who man the front desk to the absolutely delicious meal, excellent. It is so old but so historic. We stayed here for access to a D Day Tour in Bayeux. I would recommend this to anyone in th area.

Hotel staff is very friendly and welcoming. Rooms are clean and comfortable, but not huge. A family run business and you can tell. Identical twin brothers, that lead to funny moments, ala Faulty Towers. Dining room is the old town market from 16th century. Parts of the hotel from the 11th and 12th. Worn stone stairs by millions of footsteps really adds to character. Small French town full of atmosphere. Enjoyed it! The breakfast is typically French. 1 croissant, baguette, fruit, yogurt, cornflakes, juice and coffee all for 7 euros! A bargin. This hotel is a great value.

We happened on this hotel by chance and what a great find. The hotel is set in a 16th Century indoor market with lovely vaulted ceilings. The rooms are comfortable, but what sets it apart id the restaurant, which is incredible. We cant wait to go back.

We found this hotel by chance several years ago and have stayed several times. We really love it and the staff are all very helpful and friendly. The person who checked us in carried our bags up to the room, which was spotlessly clean and the bed was really comfortable . The restaurant is amazing, the food delicious and very good value, though the portions were too big for us to have all 4 courses. We parked in the hotel's own small car park but there is free parking nearby if there is no space. We will definitely be back as the hotel is perfect for staying the night before catching the ferry home from Ouistreham.

Very quaint in a historic building in a small town. The building dates to the 1600s. Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room and there is off-street, free parking. The room was meticulously clean and the staff were friendly and helpful: one of our party left a camera in a restaurant in another town and the hotel staff helped us get it back. We definitely would stay there again.

Wij vonden het een heel leuk en charmant hotel met ontzettend vriendelijk personeel. Kamers waren schoon en netjes. Sanitair had, denken wij, net een renovatie gehad, dus ook heel netjes. Prijs - kwaliteit verhouding was prima. Wij zouden hier zeker terug komen.

Week-end en famille

Sejour en famille, tenu par des personnes adorables et serviables tres bon accueil, chambre spacieuse et tres propre avec 2 lits 2 personnes et 1 lit d une personne salle de bain avec douche et un toilette. nous avons manger au restaurant de l hotel un excellent repas dans un cadre superbe, nous avons prevue dit retourner .
