From the moment we arrived at Georges Hotel Galata, we knew we were in for something special. After a long journey, being greeted with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality made all the difference.

The location is absolutely perfect... nestled in the heart of Istanbul with stunning views and easy access to everything. We were able to walk to so many iconic spots, and the surrounding area felt vibrant, safe, and full of life.

The room itself was beautifully designed... modern, clean, and thoughtfully curated with a boutique feel. The bed was incredibly comfortable (which we desperately needed after travel days), and every detail felt intentional and high-end.
What truly stood out, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was kind, attentive, and eager to make our stay memorable. They went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed.
This was more than just a place to stay... it was an experience. If you’re visiting Istanbul and want a blend of luxury, comfort, and authentic hospitality, this is it.

In short, the location of the hotel is perfect. What an unbelievable place. Me and my fiancé really like smaller boutique-style hotels, and this one was definitely up there. The staff were great throughout and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived – it genuinely felt like we’d stayed there before. Hats off to Yasin for the great hospitality. Outstanding boutique hotel! Perfect location on a quiet but stylish side street steps from Galata tower. The owners have done a wonderful update of the rooms which are large, airy and extremely comfortable. Bedding is excellent.
The rooftop restaurant is superb and commands a sweeping view of the Bosporus and Old City.

Best of all, the staff is charming and helpful. Definitely our first choice in Istanbul!

The Georges Hotel is really one of one. Not so much a hotel as the home of a very prosperous friend who has many extra rooms, lots of charming help, delicious food, and views of the Bosporus. Alex Varlik and his staff provide the illusion that they can help you do just about anything, go just about anywhere and get a good table most any first-rate restaurant. If you usually stay happily with the major chains and pick-up your points and look for the latest gadgetry this isn’t your spot. If you look for places that immerse you in the place you are visiting, charm you with their originality and their large comfortable rooms— this place is perfect.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. Stayed there on two separate occasions during my multi city vacation in early April. My boyfriend and I stayed first when we got to Istanbul for a couple of nights and because we liked it so much, my daughter and her husband booked a room for our return trip after being in Ezurum for her wedding. The location is unbeatable. You can see the Galata tower from the street outside the hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful, quaint, clean, but its the employees that make it exceptional. The owner is also extremely friendly and a pleasure to speak with.

We stayed at Georges Hotel Galata and absolutely loved it!
The location is perfect — right by Galata Tower on a charming street, close to everything yet still peaceful.

What really made it special was the staff — so warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. They made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. On our last morning, the owner of the hotel even came to our breakfast table just to ask how our stay was going — such a thoughtful gesture that really stuck with us.

The rooftop is stunning — you get to see the beauty of Istanbul from above, especially during breakfast. The rooms were clean, stylish, and super comfortable.

The staff were honestly some of the kindest, most helpful people I’ve met while traveling. Always smiling, always ready to help, and truly made us feel like we were staying with friends or family — not just at a hotel.

Huge thank you to the whole team at Georges for making our stay in Istanbul so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent location. The receptionists were amazing!
The room was very clean. The decor was very nice. Rooms are spacious. The balcony is serene.
Only a small issue: not all toiletry items and tea supplies were replenished daily. For example the hair shampoo was replenished but not the conditioner and body wash. Also there was only one set of toothbrush/toothpaste was there for 2 of us. But these were minor and overall the hotel is beautiful and the staff ( especially the the receptionists both day and night) were excellent and went above and beyond. They were very polite and very helpful.
The area is very close to shops and restaurants. The upper level rooms have a beautiful view of the city and the water. Will stay there again if I go to Istanbul!

The room itself was spacious, clean and tidy. However...it was on the fifth floor and the lift was broken - which we didn't know prior to booking. Good for the calves though. Also, the rooftop room wasn't open for evening drinks and what's wrong with supplying a free bottle of water?

They organized several private cars for us, provided great guidance on where to go, and were always ensuring that we were well taken care of. Their rooftop restaurant was gorgeous. The Georges has a wonderful old jazz vibe the minute you step in . Our room was spacious and private and had a balcony. We were in the 2nd floor and stil had a pretty good view

As. first time visitor to Istanbul, my husband and I were a bit overwhelmed by all the sites, people, views etc. Hotel Georges was the perfect respite from the huddle and bustle. The staff and management makes you immediately feel like you're visiting a longtime friend. The rooms are extremely spacious and the shower is one of the best we've ever had. The rooftop restaurant (and bar) serve delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner and the staff is professional and enthusiastic. Truly magic. We hope to return someday but we'll surely recommend it to friends and family.

MEMORABLE!

Chic boutique hotel feel with European decor feel but white and airy, fresh bedrooms. Not pretentious and helpful with restaurant recon etc. Great street/neighborhood with cafe's and restaurants nearby. Room on 4th floor with wide balcony with STUNNING view was worth every penny. Large futon type couch with a table and two chairs. Spent hour after hour just watching the water traffic.

The room was very dark. We did not have hot water for a day and a half. They charge for the Nespress capsules in the room 2.5 EU. The room had a very nice view to the Bosporus.
You can have breakfast on the rooftop which also have a gorgeous view to the Bosporus.

The premium rooms were gorgeous, the standard room we had one night was average, the bathroom a little tired and mouldy. The manage on duty, seemed to be distracted and unengaged which made the check in quite painful, struggled to listen and didn't know much about our booking. Other staff were great. Roof top restaurant was great, and decor and location really fun.

We only had one evening to spend in Istanbul before flying to Cappadocia, but the hotel staff made the evening very enjoyable (especially Fulya). They made sure we could have drinks on the rooftop terrace, recommended and booked a great place for us to eat dinner, and when they realised we would be leaving before breakfast they sorted out some pastries for us to eat in the morning! Would have been a great location if we had longer to explore - I would definitely stay here again, although, the glazed screens between toilet and bedroom are an interesting feature.

The hotel location is on a relatively quiet street near important landmark the Galata Kulesi.
Staff are amazing, couldn’t do any more to help.
View from rooftop restaurant is exceptional, straight out over the Bosphorus. It gets busy with bookings not just from hotel so not that easy to just stroll in and use the bar. Food, tried both breakfast and dinner, was great.
If bothered by noise I would avoid rooms 4 & 5 as they are very close to reception and the lift/elevator so you can hear people coming a going quite a bit.
Overall though, lovely place to stay and very handily located for exploring on foot.

Leaving the hotel you need to account for 45 min by taxi to airport and not 25 min and this is due to traffic.

The room booking was misleading. When we booked it said our room will have a city view but our room had view of only the windows of adjacent buildings!! When we asked them, they said thats the city view. One night during our stay there was no electricity the whole night and it was really hot. We couldnt sleep all night. The room was quite small. It is quite expensive and not worth the price for Istanbul standards.

Walk everywhere - enviable rooftop - stylish stay

We LOVED Georges Hotel! After a long day of flying on planes for over 12 hours, this was the perfect place to land, get over jet lag, and soak in the views of beautiful Istanbul. Prior to our stay, we coordinated airport transfer with the hotel (well worth it) -- perfect! We do not speak the language, and it was ideal to have someone meet us at the airport -- and drive us directly to the hotel. We arrived around 9p, starved -- but no worries, because the 5th floor rooftop terrace was open with bar and food menu that beckoned us. Our room was lofty, on the 4th floor (so, not one of the ocean view rooms -- but access to rooftop terrace made it just fine to overlook), outfitted with tall ceilings, beautiful chandelier, large floor-to-ceiling windows and open space -- seemingly large for the square footage. Bath is enclosed by glass, with blinds that are drawn for privacy. Shower has great pressure, towels are plush. Our room faced the cobblestone street, and it felt like we had our own little apartment in Istanbul. Overall -- Cozy, delish, and dreamlike - Georges is gorgeous. After a long day of touring amidst the hustle/bustle (and cobblestone stairs!) of Istanbul, we always came home to our quiet street, less than 100m from festive Galeta Tower -- where there seemed to be always great people-watching, cafe-hanging, and star-gazing. Georges Hotel, in its quiet elegance, felt like home -- unlike typical corporate hotel chains. And that's exactly how we loved it.

The property is not 8.8 miles from Atatürk airport Istanbul, as advertised, it’s 13.7 miles - it took 45 minutes to get there in traffic
2) the bathroom lights were not working. This was reported and they attempted to fix it, but failed to do so
3) the bathrobes had holes in them
4) the entire floor was extremely dirty
5) they charged my friend 50 euros when they left after me. The room had already been paid for on Expedia. We did not use anything from the mini bar

Unfortunately, we had a pretty awful stay in room 2 at the Georges Hotel.

The location and design of the hotel is lovely, but in our case, very impractical. The hotel does not have a sign or a traditional lobby, so be sure to look out for the street number and give a hard knock on the door if arriving late at night. The restaurant in the entrance doubles as the breakfast/lobby area, making it difficult to get either a table to eat or service from the managing staff. The rooftop for breakfast is lovely, but service is painfully slow. Assistance from the managing staff for issues related to the room similarly suffers from slow and inattentive help.

We experienced a multitude of problems with our room. The shower floods the bathroom within minutes of being switched on, the rooms smells of old cooking oil due to its location next to the kitchen, the toilet had a rather unfortunate clogging problem, and the wifi in the room is very weak. While the shower and smell issues are structural, we were disappointed in the staff's failure to execute on requests for the toilet to be fixed and fused light bulbs to be changed.

While the other reviews for the hotel suggest a pleasant experience is the norm for this hotel, it was quite a disappointing stay for us, and I would not book there again.

Tomtom is a boutique hotel in perfect condition if you are an active person. Plan on doing a lot of walking as private cars are not allowed access into that small road leading up to hotel due to security concerns of Italian Consulate across street from it. Only pre-approved vans from certified transportation companies can come in / out with prior notice to hotel. Otherwise, it is beautiful with huge rooms and beautiful art works throughout. Staff are very helpful, but you need to do research to verify their advice. I will give it a 4.5 stars due to somewhat inconvenient access. Its breakfasts are ok but not worth the price due to minimum meats selection (mostly continental breakfast) and poor coffee.

For a small and boutique hotel, attention to detail and personalised service was missing. Yet, I would still recommend this hotel for the amazing location, beautiful views and charming design. However, I would not stay here again.

Pros:
- Extremely well located hotel in the hippest neighborhood of Istanbul.
- Beautiful sweeping views of the Bhosphorus river from the hotel balcony and roof top restaurant.
- Charming overall hotel design.
- Lovely alacarte breakfast delivered to the room ( which is paid and expensive and they donot inform you about it).

Cons:
- Welcome was not very warm to begin with.
- No information given about the room & hotel, facilities, local area and surprisingly not even the WiFi password or the important thing like pre-ordering of breakfast.
- Extremely poor, dim and low lighting throughout the hotel including the room and the bathroom.
- Overall upkeep and maintenance is somewhat poor and the hotel is beginning to show its age.
- Basic amenities are missing such as dental kit, moisturizer etc which are not even provided on request.
- Towels, sofa fabrics etc donot seem fresh and clean.
- Lack of storage space, both in the room and bathroom.
- Poor water pressure in shower.
- Service was inconsistent.

Good location but didappounting overall

Booked a balcony room but given a room on ground floor with courtyard with floorboards rotten and dangerous to walk on. Promised an upgrade to a room with sea views and given a room witb street views. Told them of my disappointment but ignored and no further communication. Rooftop bar did not have beer as they had run out. Bar without beer????

Boutique hotel with rough edges

We decided to stay at the Georges Hotel Gala because of its location and stylish atmosphere. It's in a trendy neighbourhood and the public spaces have a lot of character. The rooms are quiet and well appointed. The view from the restaurant is fantastic. Bonus: the large balconies are a terrific feature for those who like to sit outside.

On the downside, the room was big but a bit run down, with peeling paint on the balcony ceiling and holes in the chair. The breakfast could be improved with fresh OJ and better preserves. There are also steps to the elevator and restaurant that would be challenging for people in wheelchairs.

It should be noted that the staff made us feel special (thank you!) and we enjoyed our stay.

Upscale vibe

We enjoyed our stay at this stylish hotel. The reception area has a nice exposed brick wall and leather furnishings, as a nice ginger blossom scent that creates a hip ambiance. They gave us a lower floor room that was like a little apartment - a lot of space to spread out. The room was comfortable, with complimentary water bottles, robes, etc. Bathroom was nice with a rain shower and open stall plan. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was pleasant with a great view of the Bosporus harbor, and good meal options. The location is great, near Galata tower and one end of Istiqlal street. If you want to take a break from Turkish food, there is a Shake Shack on Istiqlal. You can walk down hill to the tram stop or up a ways to the Tunel station. There are good restaurants and cafes on the small streets around the hotel.

Gorgeous, large rooms, spa like bathrooms, however the restaurant doubles as the lobby.
Good restaurants nearby.
Free breakfast until 3 pm!

Istanbul at your feet, a delightful retreat

Booked with flight on Expedia. Very good value rate (February 2016). Hotel sent useful welcome email one week before arrival. Very pleasant welcome, very comfortable, spacious and warm (Garden) room, huge, exceptionally comfortable double bed, nice L'Occitane toiletries, white towel bathrobes and slippers, Nespresso machine, first class French teas, lots of hot water all the time, great breakfast (from 7 till 3), picture-perfect view over Old City and Asian side of the Bosphorus from the breakfast room/restaurant/bar, solicitous and professional service. The restaurant wasn't open early Feb 2016 but the bar is well-stocked, well-run and has a small list of some exceptional Turkish wines chosen by the bar manager who visits the vineyards himself. If you're arriving by cab from either airport make sure the driver calls the hotel for directions. There's no sign outside. The staff's English is very fluent.

Nice hotel, attentive staff in a fun neighborhood

I greatly enjoyed my time at Georges Galata. The staff were very helpful in making my stay fantastic, helping with dinner recommendations and transportation in advance of my trip and making reservations for me once I arrived. The hotel is in a fun neighborhood, which seems to be growing, with new cafes and interesting shops. It's a short walk (15-20 minutes) to the old city, where most of the sightseeing is, but I enjoyed spending my evenings in the neighborhoods by the hotel. The hotel is styled nicely and comfortably, and the rooftop restaurant was a great place to see the morning sunrise over beautiful Istanbul.

Georges Hotel is the place to be

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We have stayed in many hotels so I believe we have a good knowledge of what to expect and the Goerges raised the bar. Great location in Galata. Excellent staff. The hotel roof top bar/restaurant is a must see anytime of the day or night. We will definitely stay there again.

Amazing Experience

This hotel experience was one of the best we had on our travels throughout Europe. We arrived late at night and the staff receiving us was friendly and helpful in getting us situated (brought our luggage to our room, assisted us with finding food, offered suggestions for tourist options for the following day, etc.). The room was a great size, the bathroom was fairly large (although it was entirely glass with blinds and the door does not seal closed), the balcony had a table and chairs and the view was amazing. You can hear the prayer calls echoing here and it sounds beautiful! The hotel is in a difficult place to get to if you are travelling in a larger vehicle, but it is possible and definitely worth it. There are lots of shops (food, goods, souvenirs, etc.) in the area.

Highly recommended.

The hotel is located in the old part of the city, surrounded by fantastic shops and restaurants. The staff are friendly and well informed. The room was beautifully appointed. There was even a choice of pillow comfort! The deck where the dining room is situated is world class. I will definitely return and recommend it to anyone who travels to Istanbul.

The location was absolutely perfect. The staff was all extremely friendly. The rooftop restaurant/bar was incredible! The rooms were beautiful and very clean. The one downside is the bathrooms are a little strange, but we were fine with them. We absolutely would stay here again.

You've got to try the creme bulee!

It's not often that i would right about the food but the French head chef has obviously inspired something magical in their creme bulee.

Food aside, the hotel is probably in the best setting, 20 mins walk from Taksin Sq, 20 min walk from the Old Town and you have so many options for nightlife all around. The staff were great even when driving at 2am in the morning, the rooms were clean and very well kitted.

If there would be just one thing I would complain about, and trust me i do this reluctantly, is that we did't really get the view that we paid for. But what did that matter, we're out all the time enjoying a great city.

Just watch out for those shoe shine guys!

PERFECT ALL ROUND!!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. 20 room, boutique style hotel set just below the Galata Tower with one of the best views in Istanbul. Impeccable service. Every finishing down to the serviettes is just sheer class. The owner and his staff will get whatever you want at the drop of a hat, whether it be in the hotel or out. Very elegant yet still trendy. Sunday brunch was perfect.I'm staying here again and again.

Great boutique

Great boutique hotel with a very helpful staff. Loved the area as it was an easy walk to good bars and restaurants and also convenient to access sultanhamet and its sites.
The only complaint is that the bathroom we had, which only has glass walls, also had a problem with the door which made it very difficult to close.
