Decent room size with a lot of storage area. It is designed really nicely for a short stay. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom was basic with waterfall shower and hair dryer.
There's a usable kitchen on the second floor where you can cook and get water or coffee. The lobby area looks very cozy, but we never utilized it.

The area is very populated with a lot of things to do nearby, so it felt really safe. It's very walkable to the city center attractions. Noise level-wise, you're on a very busy street so expect there to be noise, but it tapers off before 11pm.

The carpets smelled like mildew and doesn't feel like it's been clean. I was constantly sneezing in the room most likely due to dust and allergens. The room was very stuffy and opening the windows only helped slightly, because with the windows opened, it was noisy outside.

Great value for money! However, it’s a hostel, so be ready to bring with you some toiletries like moisturizer, hair conditioner etc. and maybe the quality of duvet and pillows could be better.
But in general, it was clean tidy, great location, super friendly staff, lovely kitchen which reminds dormitory. Recommend!

cost effective

it was cost-effective because i took it after leaving an hotel and wanted a place to rest fot 1-2 hours. When I saw that the bed was clean I even slept a while. My only problem was that the room had bad smell although one guest was sleeping there. Air conditioning was not working and no ventilation in the room. Only to open the window.

Great stay and facilities are all good.
I stayed in a room of 8 however my bed was bottom right by the door so your constantly hearing the door slam and people going in and out as well as noise in the corridors. The doors go quite a lot as toilets and showers are all outside the rooms but besides the noise at night it’s a good place to stay. Easy location to get anywhere and close to lots of transport

Paula, Oris, and Nicki were phenomenal. Not only was their service great, the made it easy to find and book things to do in the area and promoted great excursions with the hostel. I was so impressed with all this hostel had to offer. definitely worth the stay and in such a great area. Almost everything was walking distance or a bus ride away. On the other hand, I think most hostels can use a good power wash, especially in the bathrooms. Luckily the bathrooms were cleaned thoroughly daily

Nicki at checkin was enthusiastic and informative. The hostel had two eating establishments connected. One was the canteen where for 8euros you could have all you can eat breakfast. Typical breakfast foods and okay tasting. The other was Fat Mama's. If staying at the hostel there is 10% discount. I ate there several times and it was always very good. The one complaint of the hostel was the noise level at night. It is located on a pedestrian street in the Jewish quarter. This is a very hip place with lots of cafes and bars. Most nights by 11 pm it got somewhat quite but one night the noise went on to almost 3 am. Overall the hostel is very good with lots of activities to keep you busy if you want to participate. Also, for 10 euros they have a laundry service (wash, dry and fold).

The staff were super friendly and the location was awesome. Some spots in the room could’ve been cleaned better but the thing I really disliked was our private room had the lowest water pressure and was cold. Strange because the faucet had pretty warm water running from it. Also I had friends that were also staying in the rooms that had shared bathrooms that said the water pressure was good and water was hot. Aside from that, pretty decent especially for the price!

Lovely spacious double en-suite room. Staff were lovely and helpful, checked in at 4am and they couldn’t have been more nice and efficient.

Clean and quiet room, perfect location if you want to go on a night out in the Ruin Bars (literally 50 metres away). Also a short walk to the Inner City, St Stephens Bascilia, not far from the bridge over to Buda and Gellert Hill.

Would 100% stay again and refer to a friend.

Excellent female only rooms and good location

I stayed in the all female dorm, which included a spacious private kitchen with all the essentials necessary to make a good meal. It was fantastic.

It's location is superb - tram stop to and from the city is directly outside the hostel.The foyer area was also cozy.

Only minor negative is that the toilet could be brighter and sometimes smelt bad due to sewerage.

Amazing stay! From the second I walked in the door the service and stay was more than I could have hoped for. I stayed in a female 10 bed dorm. For the price paid this was the nicest 10 bed dorm I have ever stayed in. Very spacious, curtained beds and lots of privacy. Shared bathroom between the 2 female dorms nice as well and seemed to be kept/stayed clean for amount of people using. The kitchen space was great with free coffee and tea always, 2 dishwashers, 2 toasters, 2 sinks, and a microwave. Very well equipped with everything you may need. Lobby was nice as well. They host free wine nights which the staff really get people involved in and it's a great way to meet people. The staff is really amazing!!! For people who see 100's of backpackers come and go every week they are super nice, patient, and genuine with everyone I saw them interact with. They always would give suggestions or advice if needed by guests, seemed super helpful to everyone. Staff was great to just chat with as well, again were genuinely interested in their guests. Dora and Dori, thanks for everything. The whole staff, not just front desk was great, cleaning staff was constantly working to keep the place looking great. If management reads this, give these guys a raise or throw them a party!! Cheers!

Great 4 day stay here, I love the feel of the place. I was travelling alone and choose to stay in a private room with ensuite. The room was very clean and tidy with simple, functional furniture. The heating controls and heated towel rail were really good so the room was never too cold or hot. The location for me was perfect as it was easy to get to all the sights, the ruin pubs and some good restaurants. I would have liked more hot water as the shower was only lukewarm in the mornings but this didn't detract from stay.

I found the ladies at reception very helpful and friendly. They were willing to go the extra mile and swap around beds so I could have the one I wanted. The room was clean and it was great having curtains, it made it feel more private. The bed was set up well with a light and 2 power points. It even had air condition which was great for the warmer weather. It had a shared bathroom for all the girls on the floor and it was pretty clean for a shared bathroom. The kitchen was large and appeared well equipped although I didn’t cook in it. It wasn’t far from the centre of Pest (easy to walk to) and was in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, where the streets come alive at night. That was the only drawback, there was live music playing well into the evening below our window. Overall I would stay again.

It's really close to the food trucks and ruin bar but it's surprisingly well insulated from the noisy street. You can however, hear between rooms pretty easily. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant next door is convenient but there are a lot of nice restaurants really close by too. Wi-Fi sucked..

Very central location. A woman traveling on her own. Very friendly and helpful staff. Accomodation very clean. Lockers provided. Very large bathroom providing 3 decent toilets and shower rooms with hairdryers. All beds had curtains for privacy. A posh hotel but sharing a room with other females without paying hotel prices. Lots of food places to eat close by. Main shops and Xmas markets are a fifthteen mins walk away. Would highly recommend.

A great hostel with good atmosphere and good facilities in a central location. Our room was clean and comfortable and we ate at Fat Mamas next door several times. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, booked tickets and airport transfer for us. Hostel is located near Cirkusz restaurant (great for breakfast) and Szimpla Kertz ruin bar which is a must visit place. Loved Budapest and would recommend Maverick City Lodge.

I stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. Friendly staff, spaghetti and wine nights, private and spacious beds, regular cleaning, a nice big kitchen with free tea and coffee and even large showers with plenty of hooks. It’s so nice to experience a hostel where everything has been so well considered. I also made some great friends by just hanging out in the lobby, and the location is fantastic close to eating and drinking spots. I’ll be back one day!

This is the best hostel I have stayed at! Upon check in I wasn’t so sure as the receptionist gave me a key to a dirty room and wasn’t too open to answer my questions. But things quickly turned around!! The wine night was a great way to socialize and get to know others and the host Dóra was awesome. The tapas night was also fantastic and I’m glad I went at the very end! My private room was comfy, clean and had good air conditioning. It was a little noisy as the bar was below my window but not terrible. The area is fantastic, most attractions are a 30 minute walk or a 10 minute walk to the metro or bus and easy to get to. The nightlife in the area is fantastic, some really fun ruin bars to hang out at. I also went to Kék Rózsa Étterem or Blue Rose which is a restaurant right down the street. It has amazing Hungarian food for a great price and the reception will give a discount card if you ask about good spots. There’s also a restaurant attached called Fat Mama but there are better spots in the area. If you’re looking for a coffee and simple breakfast it’s handy and there is also a discount card offered. Overall the vibe is great!!

Easily one of the BEST hostels I've stayed in over 2 years of travel. The design of the beds and room of the female dorm were like nothing I've seen before. Privacy curtains give 100% privacy. Lockers big enough to put your bag - there were zero bags/suitcases lying around because they all fit in the locker! Great bathroom facilities as well. Place was always super clean every night I showered. Staff are super helpful and the area could not be better. You'll be hard pressed to find such a good hostel and location and value. I really didn't want to leave in the end!

Staff were a little slow and need to know more/be trained on the activities they offer and be able to provide recommendation for cafes and restaurants that are close by not just the one in the hostel

Great, just great!

Everything was great.
The only thing I did not like was, the reception tried to plug their hotel, Fat Mama, and the restaurant was not great compared to other restaurants in the area.

Great location, big room, great facilities

We had a private double room with bathroom and it was so spacious. Plenty of room to unpack. Common area was great to make breakfast and have a free coffee to start the day. Heaps of food options right near the hotel and very good location for trains and city. Would highly recommend and definitely stay here again

My favorite hostel

This hostel has never failed me. Of all the hostels I've ever been to, THIS is my favourite. The atmosphere both at the hostel and the district makes me happy. I've stayed there countless times, and the service personnel (mostly my contact with the receptionists) are just Great! The smiles and care are real. I'm most often sad to check out, but always looking forward to come back :)

Great hostel. Very clean. Comfortable. Good bed with privacy. Well organized and equipped kitchen.
