This was a great stay for the price! We stayed two nights and really just wanted a private room to sleep. Check in was easy, rooms were clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hostel!

Staff were helpful. Water kept turning off in the shower after about 20 seconds which was annoying. Cleanliness was ok but the toilet in our dorm ran out of toilet paper. Vibe in the communal area was a bit boring and not very homely .

Had a really disappointing stay here. Our room was very dirty and not as advertised from photos on hotels.com. The walls were dirty, hair and mould in the shower, it felt very unclean. When booking in, they said housecleaning would change towels on the third day and replace bedding on the fifth day of your stay, both of which did not happen. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything throughout the hotel, we could even hear the next room’s conversations. Staff were unhelpful too. Disappointing stay here and definitely would not recommend.

This hotel is not a 3 star as advertised its a 2 star hotel and which I was very disappointing in.
On arrival 8pm the room was cold, went to reception and the person informed me that the heating does not come on until 10pm.
Rooms are very spartan the shower head comes of if you put it on full power, however the shower was hot and the beds were comfortable.

However overall the room is cold spartan and not comfortable when you have returned from being out all day, very basic just like a youth hostel room.

They charge 8 euros for a breakfast its cheaper by half to eat round the corner of the hotel. They even charge you 700 Hungarian for a 1lt of bottled water when you it only cost 129 at the local shops.

The location is great however coming back everyday to a cold uncomfortable room was a bit of a downer.

The internet was not always giving a good reception, overall it was a very disappointing hotel in which to stay.

Hotel staff not overall going out there way to welcome you so I would give it 3/10 for hotel staff.

The bed is very terribly spoilt where the mattress slunting. You will ended up with backache n aches a over the body after sleeping on it. Feedback to the hotel but no action taken. The toilet was with stinky smells with poor ventilation. Worst is we found that the tap water was in brownish instead of clear. We took a glass of it and showed to the hotel. Clearly seen it and the base of the glass of water is like some rusty residues (guessing what it is). The guy who came up and checked got shocked and told us he will bring down to the reception and check with the kitchen. Surprisingly, they called us and told us the water is OK and safe to drink. Terrible hotel. With the money we are paying, it's not worth. If you are thinking of staying here, think twice, thrice and think again and again.

Hotel provides one with what you need to stay in Budapest. The woman that checked us in was very nice and extremely helpful. Our room was spacious. It has an elevator, just not to our room. No towels in our room, but that was an easy fix.

There is an open courtyard outside in the middle of the hotel that many rooms are accessed from. A group of extremely loud young adults made it known they were checking in at midnight. Management did nothing to try to quiet this ruckus that went on for over 45 minutes.

Breakfast, if booking thru Expedia, is not included. It did not look appealing, so we opted to skip it.

Nice hotel in the Jewish district

I was pleasantly surprised when I checked into this hotel having read some of the negative reviews. The lobby was much nicer than expected, as was the room. I stayed in a room on the fourth floor which was nice and clean. Housekeeping were nice and friendly and came by every day. The room was equipped with a tv, mini fridge (extra charge), phone, and free mobile for your stay. The lift is small (2-3 people) but this is similar to many places across central and eastern europe. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is great and is near many bars and ruin bars for those interested in the night life. Despite this I found the room to be quiet at night, I couldn't hear any noise at all. There are a number of smaller shops near by and two spars less than a 10 minute walk each way. Vaci utca is only a 15-20 minute walk away which I hardly noticed. There are a number of trolley lines and metro stations close by aswell but I didn't have much use for them as most things were within walking distance. Overall, this hotel is quite nice, quiet and central. It is not a high end hotel but it does not pretend to be. It was much nicer than many places I have stayed across europe.

Money stolen. £80. But maid kindly left £10. Not in safe. But she had a good rummage to find it. Staff on desk not interested and never got back. Window falling out in room.116 so avoid. Sound like it’s open because bad fittting. Breakfast was worst I’ve ever had. His isn’t sour grapes. Bread stale. Scrambled eggs etc very poor. I’ve had scores of buffet breakfasts in Hungary since 2003. Worst ever. Toilet roll. No spare left. So forced to use tissues. Kettle leaks so wouldn’t pass electrical test. Cheap and good coz near centre. But expect the worst.

Good location, bad service

Generally a good hotel in a great location. However, breakfast is terrible. Sugared water with flavouring instead of fruit juice and the coffee machine did not work. When I complained I was told I could pay for a nice cup of coffee from the other machine. My argument that I had already paid for coffee by paying for breakfast fell on deaf ears. Very poor service.
In addition the reception staff pretended not to know about the free shuttle bus to the Hungoraring for the Grand Prix and tried to get us to book a very expensive taxi with them. We found our own way to the bus without their help.
Again very poor service.
There are many similar hotels in this area of Budapest so I will not be staying at Kings again. Shame, as it is a nice hotel.

If you dont mind rudeness

If you don't mind rude staff and bad room amenities you stay here.
Otherwise, look for something better. The room was very tight and simple, which was expected.
The Hungarian soccer team was playing both times when i stayed, we heard the noise from the people in the street drinking when they were winning and then the night they were losing.

I was actually reserved down the street at Grandio party hostel and realized what a mistake the place was. Booked Kings and was checking in two minutes later. Very welcoming place and perfect for a three night stay!

Breakfast was included and ok the first day the man was extremely rude as breakfast was served until 10am and we went in at 9.45am he huffed puffed and muttered and looked really annoyed, not the impression you would expect.

Room was directly above bar so it noisy until 2am most nights.
Heating was on, understandably it was minus 1 degrees outside, but it was a bit stifling when on all through the night with no means to lower it yourself or an air conditioning system that worked.
Room was clean, and for the price paid I can't argue.

Dilapidated Hotel.

The staff was nasty & didn't want to help with luggage. Had to carry up a flight of stairs to the elevator. The room was very run down and smelled horrible. The shower was broken and sprayed everywhere except in the shower.
We will never stay there again.

Not fit for a King... maybe a pauper.

We were taken to a room that smelt of deep fried pork, with a terrific echo that picked up everything and where running pipes could be heard constantly. Thankfully the staff upgraded us when we raised the issue of the water and put us in a much nicer room - bigger, quieter and with a much nicer, comfy bed. They were polite about this and spoke English. The room is no frills, but everything worked and was clean. A comfy mattress, strong shower, good heaters and plenty of cupboard space.

The location is fantastic; but a few minutes walk from all the best ruin pubs, restaurants like Menza, Karpatia and Ditzo. Equally close to Heroes Square to the North and the Danube to the West that will see you over into Buda.

On the final night a couple checked into the room opposite us and were playing music and being loud until the early hours. To the hotel's credit when we complained they sent someone up. It took two complaints for the staff to be assertive and stress the importance for quiet.

This is a good hotel. Location is good area in Budapest. Metro is 5-8 walk. Has wifi internet in loby and only at some rooms in 1st floor. Breakfast is basic. I liked the scrambled eggs with some salad. And they have coffee, tea and milk. The bread doesn't look so fresh but in general it's not bad. I recommended this place.

Convenient location only 15 minutes walk to the Danube and near by sights. Accommodationes are not 3 star by any means, however, if you go to Budapest the hotel should be only to sleep. Breakfast is ok to help you star the day. Coffee is really bad so you might want to get a cup somewhere else afterwards. Street parking should only be used to load and unload. Cop visit regularly targeting foreign tags first. Hourly fee is also outrageous. A near by parking place was automated and extremely secure for around 12€ a night. To sight see, used the local transportation. It's easy, fast, and cheap.

If you are looking for fun neighborhood, look no further. This inexpensive hotel is very close to some of the best \"ruin bars\" in town. It is not the upscale hotel, but it had everything I needed: decent size room, great location, good price and a tasty breakfast. Even though hotel is near epicenter of Jewish district, it is located on a quiet street. Hotel stuff was very helpful.

Not recommended if you look for an upscale hotel with modern rooms, or not comfortable walking around at night on streets filled with tipsy people.

A wonderful stay at King's hotel!

We were a party of 3 in a bedroom with 3 single beds. Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. The room, in particular the bathroom was very clean. The staff at the front desk were all very friendly and helpful. It is at a convenient location within 20-30 minutes walking distance away from all the main tourists sites. The metro is only a few blocks away. Plenty of restaurants, ATMs and supermarkets surrounding the hotel. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. We enjoyed our time there.

right in the middle of it all!!!! you can walk everywhere from here. Lots of gorgeous restaurants 3/4 mins away. The ruin pub Szimpla Kert is 3mins away!!!! rooms were cozy and warm. bedding was clean and crisp. the decor is a little shabby chic but I am not complaining, we only lay are head here!!! Its a charming hotel and friendly staff who cannot do enough for you!!!! And for the price we paid £23 a night it was a complete and utter bargain. would defo recommend!!!

All staff very friendly and helpful with directions, assistance booking etc. Hotel provided exclusive discount voucher for hop-on hop-off tour bus, Szechenyi bath and spa, aqua park. Nice reception and lounge area (wifi was available only here, not in rooms). Room was not as modern as some of the pictures appeared to show but still acceptable given the price. Bathroom light stopped working through first night. Reported this next morning and went out for a few hours, it was fixed when we got back :-)

The hotel is in a very good location with many bars, cafes and restaurants nearby. Király utca is a street a short walk from the hotel and great for night life- Kuplung beer garden and Fröcosterasz are recommended. Definitely go to KAlap beside hotel- great food, beer and staff, very cool interior and chilled out place. Szimpla kert ruin bar on Kazinczy utca is a must, Kirakat on same street is fab for live music and a nice atmosphere.
Definitely recommend going up Citadel for a great view of the city and going to see Buda castle which is beautiful.

The lift only goes to 4th floor, till 5th floor we needed to go by scary stairs, where two persons do not feet and need to take your bagagge at your back.
A brown door with a foot hole in the door that they tried to cover with white cement, a lock whith loose parts and very fragile i suppose because the kick that mad the foot hole.
The dirtiest carpet i've ever seen.
The 5th floor is an annex like a tree house. The floor have ups and downs that shows the beams under the carpet, and when you move all the floor makes noise. The bathroom don't have cement between the old white tiles and you can cut you feet.
A very bad surprise that seeing the hotel photos and reviews they don«t show this terror room. Don't go to 5th floor.
Good location and nice reception staff.

Basic hotel, great location

King's Hotel was perfect for my recent solo visit to Budapest. The location is great - in the 7th district, within 10 - 15 mins walk of the main square, Vaci St, Chain Bridge, etc. The hotel itself is a bit old but clean. I was in a single bed room and it was very basic: a bit run down, but clean. The A/C was quite noisy and unfortunately it was too hot to turn it off. The breakfast buffet is fine: choice of hot and cold foods, including eggs, cereals, fruits and pastry. There is a 24 hour market just down the street that was very convenient for grabbing water and other small snacks (which I stored in the mini-fridge in my room: a nice bonus). Overall, a good value for the money and I would certainly stay here again for future visits to Budapest.

Good value hotel. Staff very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, speaking multiple languages. Good breakfast and clean rooms. Location means you have to walk 5-6 blocks to access public transporation in Budapest. Wi-fi in my 3rd floor room was stable enough for laptop use, but had to step onto balcony to make wi-fi calls on my smartphone.

When I arrived, the AC in my single standard room did not work (+33C outside)
The manager offered me a bigger and better room with working AC for the same price.
Even the hotel is in old building, the location is great and the neighborhood is quite.
It is in the center of Pest and you can walk to many famous attractions.
The WiFi did not work in the room and even in the lobby the signal was weak.
Overall - good for the price. I will recommend it to friends.

We stayed for a week and we are satisfied with the location, maintenance, cleanliness of the hotel. The price is affordable. The staff are very friendly and tried to help us as much as they can. Internet works in our room by Wifi and cable. The only thing we are less satisfied is breakfast, it is average in quality. I recommend this hotel, as it is reachable by walk to the city center and convenient.

Walking distance to everything you want to do!

For the price you can't beat this hotel. Its \"villa\" feeling is great as the outside portion when you walk out your door is very peaceful. You are five minute walk from where the tour busses stop and also you can walk to all the nightlife. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Breakfast included had everything you would want in a nice European breakfast.
When I return to Budapest this is where I will book my next hotel!

A very reasonably priced hotel in a location that was a good base for us to explore the area and the city. It was probably a 15 minute walk from the main square. Breakfast was more varied than expected and the room was clean and comfortable. Not the biggest room in the world but absolutely fine for our needs, good powerful shower in the bathroom too. Staff were helpful. Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Location, Service, Breakfast and Cleanliness.

The Hotel is remarkable, you can walk to most every tourist place in Budapest. The only problem was that the wifi didn't work in the room. Apart from that, loved place to stay.

Better than it looks from the outside

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel in december 2012. The hotel is obviously very old but the rooms are fine. The only problem is the small sheets on the bed, they are so skimpy they keep untucking themselves and so get wrinkled and uncomfortable to sleep on. The staff are extremely helpful with many tips to make your stay enjoyable. From the outside the hotel could be brightened up a bit as it looks uninviting, but inside it is fine. There is plenty of choice at breakfast, and the staff there are also very pleasant. The staff very kindly left my wife a bottle of sparkling wine in the room on the occasion of her birthday which was greatly appreciated. There is only about a 5 minute walk to the main road to catch trams and buses, so that is very convenient. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly stay again.

good location

Inexpensive hotel, Limited hotel amenities--needs tissues, wash cloths, sign for door--do not disturb/make up room. Wi-fi in lobby only with your own computer, tablet, or cell phone. Easy to get to places of interest by foot. Desk clerks were helpful.

Better options out there

The beds were comfortable, but the room had one window that started 10 feet above the floor. Rust stains all over ceiling and bathroom ceiling. Very small room-I have been in many hotels in Budapest and this was not the best. Staff very nice. Internet does not work in rooms. Everyone was in the lobby checking email. Breakfast was good. Would spend a few more dollars to stay elsewhere.

Good for his price

We stayed here for just 4 hours after arriving from a long drive before tsking a flight back home. its very good location for Jews their is a Shul Mikvah and 3 glatt Kosher restaurants and 1 Dairy restaurant right around the corner. and they are very friendly to Jews as well. enjoy your stay in our original home country.

Nice hotel, nice location

The staff was very friendly. The room was small, but nice. I was only really in the room to sleep and shower so it suited my needs. The shower was a stall with a curtain that was not long enough, so each time I showered, there was an inch of water on the bathroom floor, but other than that, everything was fine. The hotel offered a nice breakfast and the staff was there to help you. The location was within walking distance to all of the major sights. I would stay here again!

ideal for weekend visit

ideally place for your trip to Budapest,the Hotel is well situated for the amenities and nightlife of Pest.Hotel is clean and tidy and staff very helpful.Breakfast more than adequate.Some of the rooms were a little small but okay.This was the second time I had used this Hotel in 5 Months.Supermarkets,pubs,chemists,resturants are all within a 15 minute walk.

Couple of days in this hotell was totally okej. Close to everything. Clean room and good size. Im not happy about the old cigrette smoke in the room. But than again it dont matter since there is free smoking in pubs

great location

the hotel was lovely and clean and near enough sights etc to be able to walk. It did not do evening meals but staff advised on good restaraunts in the area which were lovely. It was also a very affordable hotel. I would use it again

Convenient Location

Hotel needs major update with furniture and bedding. Breakfast buffet was minimal and at times, inedible. Location was great near major sites. Be careful at night when walking by oneself. I got solicited for sex by sex worker at the corner of the hotel street.
