The Sternen Oerlikon is a hidden gem. The entire staff is warm and helpful, from the front desk, to the housekeeper to the breakfast waitress. The hotel is quiet and spotless and a less than 10 minute walk to the Orelikon HB.

Very warm welcome (especially considering it is a city hotel), the staff all very friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. The location is really well connected. I travel quite a lot and generally most hotels don't stand out - this one did - I would stay again next time I am in Zurich.

Cot not set up as requested. Room didn't get dark.

We requested a cot well in advance, this was not ready for our daughter when we arrived and we had to call down to ask for one to be brought.

They charge for our 3 month old as an additional person but the cot isn't included in that price and was an extra 30 CHF which seems unreasonable charge for one or the other.

None of this would be acceptable for an adult and I don't think it's acceptable for a baby.

The curtains are so thin that even at night time light comes through them. It was like having two layers of netting.

This is another hotel which uses eco-friendlyness as an excuse to cheap out on what is available in the room.

Its a nice hotel. I stayed there 15 years ago and it was just being refurbished then but they have refurbed again and its clean, tidy, comdortable and a reasonable price considering it is Zurich and reasonably central. Good tram service and cab service to the lake etc, parking is easy enough as just over the road and a 2 minute walk. Breakfast is good, scrambled eggs are very goodand a nice bit of bread etc. Will book again if forced back to Zurich.

This was one of our favorite hotels on our loop around Europe. The room was very cozy, clean, and the decor is so nice. Just what we wanted in a stay in Germany. The breakfasts were incredible, and the proximity to Neuschwanstein was excellent. The hiking trails below the castle were super, too.

We only stayed one night but it was a very enjoyable stay. The room was clean and we had ample space to open up our luggage plus have a baby cot set up in our room. We did not eat at the restaurant downstairs, but we found a decent variety of restaurants and bakeries around the property to suit our needs.

Staff were superb we didn't have any hotel issues, more our own forgetfulness and they couldn't do enough to help. Was ideally placed for an Event at the Zürich Halle, perhaps factored into the price as I'd say at that cost it could include the breakfast but in terms of location and position for travel links both to the Old and Town and airport its perfect.

Overall, we had a good stay. We only stayed for the night, but the front desk staff was friendly and our room was clean. We could hear the traffic from our room, but the sound died down over-night. It was a quick and easy drive to the airport the next morning.

great location directly on the tram line to the centre which is about a 15 minute ride. i was driving and parking is very expensive around switzerland - generally hotels do not provide parking but provide access to a close car park at a reduced rate. Rate was better than other hotels. car park was close. only issue is that once you put the car back in for the day you cannot take it out again without extra charge. this however was ok given the tram right out the front to get to the centre of zurich very easily. room was clean, secure and comfortable. staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location, service but very small room

Cristian at the desk was amazing , he gave us s map and explain important facts sbout the city and how to get around. The room was extremely small and had only shower gel and nothing else. Coffee not so good but breakfast and service was great.

Clean and quiet hotel. Great location, near the airport but also close to some excellent restaurants nearby.
Very comfortable bed. Loved the breakfast buffet and even the coffee from the coffee machine was excellent.

The only minor ding is the person at the concierge on our first night seemed to be tired or bored. The other concierge person the next day was friendly though.

The photo on the hotels.com listing seems not accurate, since the bed we got was very spacious and was a queen size at the least.

The neighborhood was wonderful. Many options for great food. The tram (10 & 14) to old town is just across the street. It is a short 5 min walk to the train station (easy to get to the airport). AC works great!

I wouldn't recommend at all. I am still fuming when I remember the incident. My family have holidayed in Asia, USA, Europe and this is the first time we encountered such unpleasant experience. Unbelievably horrible. Atrocious I think. Because without basis, I felt we we're being singled out. So take your money somewhere else lest what happened to us might happen to you too. Upon checked out time, the elevator is not working, housekeeper says it's under maintenance, saw 3 more guest checked out that time and everyone was carrying their heavy suitcases down the flight of stairs, without assistance from the hotel.Totally not a nice experience at all.

They helped us with tram routes and schedules etc. Very convenient location near tram stops and shopping. Vibrant place with nice restaurants. 15 mins tram ride from Zurich HB station. Great location near the center of Zurich (20 minutes by tram, 50 minutes by foot) and quick to get to from the airport (17 minutes by tram). The rooms and bathrooms and bathroom have been recently and are modern and nice, just like the breakfast room.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Sternon Oerlikon. It was exceptionally clean, which is super important to us. The bathroom was large, bright and super clean with modern finishing. Looked brand new, almost. The staff was very friendly and helpful, too.

great room & location for city and airport access

The hotel is a short walk I'll be at uphill from the central tram stop. That tram stop is only one stop away from the airport, and actually much more convenient than most of the airport hotels. The hotel was an excellent condition, very clean, and the rooms were relatively spacious for European standards. It reminded me of a Hilton Garden Inn in terms of how clean and comfortable ir was. The staff at the front desk was very accommodating, and help me print out my negative Covid test before my departure for the US. Everything was outstanding, and I definitely will be staying there again. It is also very easy to get into town from the tram stop, and there are grocery stores, restaurants and everything you could need within 2 to 5 minutes walking distance.

Staying at this hotel ruined my trip to Switzerland. The noise level from the street prevented sleep and made me exhausted over 3days. Of course I could get a better room if I wanted to pay extra !!! I expect to get a good room in any case as I paid enough to start with. For staff to suggest ear plugs and hope I enjoy my stay is just not good enough. Booking with Expedia means staff view guests as second rate,they explain the worst rooms are allocated to Expedia guests and the only way to get a better room is ....to pay more!Staff are indifferent and have a way to go to meet good customer service. Penny pinching cost exercise is counterproductive, by not replenishing tea and milk pods, making the guest go to reception for them after the first day is nonsense. I had a power cut for several hours on my last morning, I didn't bother telling staff as I had come to expect an unhelpful result. Rooms were mega hot and thermostat broken. Hairdryer not working. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location not only for events at Theatre 11 which was the reason for my trip. But also as tram from airport stops only 1 block away, and, teams go directly into the centre / old town.

Hotel room was spacious & clean, comfortable wide single bed, hot power shower. Everything you need where hotel is just a place to sleep.

A very nice hotel, stayed there twice already, will stay there again. Clean, all the standard things included, overall nothing to really complain. Location is great - you can get to and from the airport by tram #10, easy tram access to city center and bus access to ETH Honggerberg campus. Oerlikon railway station is a few blocks away, groceries (e.g. Coop or Lidl) are within a one-block walking distance.

Yet, I believe that the hotel won't really become broke if: they add small fridges to each room and make breakfast included. As a germophobe, I didn;'t quite like soap dispensers (you have to squeeze soap bottles). Also, TV channel selection for language other than German can be improved.

Warm welcome, and efficient check in. The room had everything we needed and the beds are really comfortable. Good location regular trams into the city centre (numbers 11 and 14 the quickest) and 24 hr tickets can be purchased from reception. You do need to ask for top ups of coffee and tea for the room as they are not automatically replaced.

An elegant hotel in the Oerlikon district of Zurich. Hotel parking is not free though it is adjacent to the hotel. The hotel is close to trams and the Zurich Central train station. The staff were courteous and helpful. The twin bedroom we got was nice though I found the beds to be a bit small in length. Tall people might want the queen or king beds. There is a big desk utility and the room has good closet space. However there was no breakfast served in this hotel - there is a restaurant in the 1st floor which is quite expensive. Everything in Zurich is expensive! The best part of the hotel is its convenience and cleanliness. I would definitely come back to this hotel again if I were to revisit Zurich.

We chose this hotel because of its location as we had theatre tickets and it's just a five minute walk away, our three night stay was very comfortable, all the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, the room had all the facilities we needed and I am happy to recommend it, I would definitely stay there again.

I had a pleasant stay at Hotel Sternen Oerlikon. The room was modern looking, spacious, and clean. The bed was comfortable and the wifi worked pretty well.

The staff were friendly and check in and check out were seamless. The location is perfect - not far from the airport and Zurich HB. It’s about 10 mins in either direction with plenty of tram or train options. There are also restaurants, coffee shops, and supermarkets nearby. It’s a nice little neighbourhood just outside of the super busy downtown area.

I highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Zurich.
