The hotel staff and amenities were very nice . I do feel that the hotel and facilities could use an upgrade as paint was peeling and rooms seemed slightly dated. However this was overshadowed by the kind staff. Food was very good and breakfast buffet was very extensive and many options . Due to the thermal heat conditions , bugs: roaches (very small) may be encountered - I had 3 come up the drain in my shower but staff addressed it. We also had a plumbing issue (clogged shower drain in two rooms) for which the staff was very apologetic about and gave us extra treats like champagne and goodies. Overall a good stay. Beautiful park next door as well.

Amazing property and even better staff!

My wife and I stayed here with our 8-month old boy, and we were blown away at the service at this property. The service was above and beyond. They treated us like royalty - everything was ready for us when we arrived. If we needed anything, they responded immediately getting us what we needed. The cleanliness, the staff, the grounds, the pools, the spa, and the breakfast were all amazing! We truly can’t recommend this property enough. The only critiques I have are: the food prep at the restaurant was inconsistent. We had dinner there three times and were underwhelmed with some of the dishes and recommendations from staff. Finally, the bed was very, very firm and lacked support. I am a tall guy in my late 30s, but I had considerable pain waking up each morning. Since everyone has a different opinion on mattress comfort, I don’t want that fact to affect my rating, but it was by far the biggest issue I had at Octant Furnas. Overall, though, if we make it back to this island, we will definitely stay here again.

Amazing hotel! We enjoyed all of the amenities including the spa. The staff were all very warm and welcoming. Breakfast each morning was lovely, as well as the dinner we enjoys at the restaurant.

Small complaint is that the closets in our pool access room smelt musty. We didn't want to keep any of our belongings in there.

Room was nice but no outdoor space. Pool area was great ,having a hot spring pool on site was lovely. Dining room was lovely with a nice atmosphere, food was a little bland and expensive. Bar area lacked atmosphere ad wasn’t very welcoming. There was a lovely area beside the dining room to sit but that didn’t seem to be used and had no bar which was a shame. Overall stay was good.

This is an absolute gem of a property the thermal iron variety of private pools with 24 hour access alone are worth coming here for. I loved the outdoor pool at night with the cooler air and warm water. I had a spa service the coco and it was the best body scrub massage I’ve experienced. The facility is so cool with a fun bar, amazing staff and delicious restaurant.

This is an ecological style resort sitting atop of the thermal water source, a two-minute walk to boiling water wells (called Furnas), which, surprisingly coexist with 50-degree F naturally carbonated mineral water fountains. All that is in a quaint little town, which is home to an absolutely stunning garden filled with exotic flowers. Hiking trails all around allow you to get your fill of adventurous treks and stunning vistas. Then jump into one of several thermal water pools on property! Breakfast was amazing, featuring everything the island’s small scale farming culture has to offer. Dining menu was simple and reasonably priced. Drinks were slightly overpriced, except for locally brewed beer on tap. Parking on property is slightly limited, even slightly off season (mid September). Renting the smallest car that you can fit in is highly advisable! There’s no real highway on the island, and locals know how to drive, so we never felt unsafe in a compact.

On the edge of the town, surrounded by beautiful Parkland. This small top of the range hotel really has no falts that I I could find. The service was great throughout, the decor and rooms were well appointed. The pools and spa were amazing, completely unique. I eat dinner and breakfast there and really, they were top notch. This is a rather boring review, but it must be one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. It is expensive, and often hotels at this price can't be as good as you hope, but this one is, at least for me. Whether there's enough here to stay for, say, a week I'm not so sure. I stayed for one night and it was the most memorable part of my stay in the Azores.

Awesome hotel! The staff were wonderful and the room was well appointed! Loved the big towels and comfy robes. The bed was a little firm for my preference.

The hot spring pool is amazing. Spent hours there relaxing and taking advantage of the sauna and Turkish bath as well. I used the gym twice and had no problems, though one of the treadmills wasn’t working.

The heated pools of various temperatures, saunas, and the location near gardens and a cute town filled with thermal pools was truly lovely. The hotel was nice in many ways and the staff was helpful. My only reservations about it were that it was roughly double the price of other hotels including the other Octant hotel in Punta Delgada.

The water features where amazing. The facility was beautiful, but a bit rough in some of the rooms from what appeared to be water damage.The staff was wonderful and genuinely interested in enhancing your stay. Joao helped us prepare a Cozido, where we placed food in a large pot that we later transported to the inground ovens heated by the volcano. It was delicious. Very memorable.

Overall a really nice hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The spa facilities were really good and the pools were amazing. My only gripe would be that, for the price, the rooms could do with a bit of TLC. There were a few cracks here and there and our room was a bit damp. Also the coffee served in the bar was just Nespresso pods, which is such a shame in Portugal where the coffee is generally so good!

This is the best hotel in Furnas. Amazing service and attention to detail. The thermal pools, sauna and Turkish bath are amazing. The breakfast buffet is really amazing and plentiful. You can create your own tea, they have assorted milks, fresh juice and coffee. They have fresh options for all diets. The vibe of this hotel is unmatched. Unlike the Octant Ponta Delgada, the spa was much larger, nicer and did not require reservations. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The only issue was our room, 120, was right next to the road and traffic noise was annoying. Ask to not be placed there.

This hotel used to be a public hospital which was converted into a hotel.
With what they had to work with, they did an amazing job!

However, be aware that the rooms are very small.

The service was impeccable. The staff was always available to help.

The only reason to stay here is the large thermal pool.
At $300 (US Dollars) one could go elsewhere.
But if you want to use the pool, this is very appropriate.

Dinner was not so good.

Every person we met at the hotel and on the island was incredibly nice and helpful, all spoke at least some English with was very helpful. The hotel needs a facelift, the carpet is gross, but I loved the Turkish baths and the food and the staff. Rooms are small, but comfortable. This hotel is not of the same caliber of the other Octant hotels, they need to show it some love.

The hotel and location were great. We had only a couple issues during our 2 night stay. The breakfast service was pretty non-existent; there were few staff around making it a real \"self-service\" experience. We felt bad flagging down the busy host/waiter for an espresso or eggs to order. A week before check-in, we received an email that there was significant construction underway so they downgraded us from our terrace rooms. The glass half-full side to this is that we did receive compensation, and we never heard any noise (granted we were there on a Friday afternoon with a Sunday morning check-out). The spa services were very nice - the only negative is that we were presented with bills immediately following our treatments. The spa should confirm type of treatment and cost prior to the service and request payment then instead of afterwards when you don't have eyeglasses handy nor are in the mood to be brought back to reality so soon. The indoor and outdoor pools were wonderful - the attendants there were helpful and friendly. Having just come from a lovely property with excellent service in Ponta Delgada, we had some expectations. All in all, I would highly recommend. Furnas is an amazing place, and the Octant Furnas is an ideal place to stay.

Our stay at the Furnas Boutique Hotel (now Octant Hotel) was simply delightful. The hotel installations and services are great. The gym, pools, spa, restaurant, bar and rooms are all of excellent quality. However, what really makes this hotel a truly special place is its staff. They are cordial, professional and kind people that will readily go out of their way to help and offer you the best experience possible. We loved every single minute that we spent at this hotel and will not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. We hope to be able to return soon. Simply a magical place.

Wonderful Hideaway in the Hills

This hotel is fantastic. The service of the hotel staff was impeccable, and super accommodating. We visited in November and it wasn’t too crowded.

Pool facilities are very nice and chic, although the water could have been hotter.

The brunch was really great! and the food in the restaurant was decent, however extremely overpriced for Sao Miguel. You’re basically paying NYC prices here for food ($22 for a burger). The service in the restaurant needs some serious work. We had reservations for dinner on 2 nights. One night we waited 15 mins before a server even showed up at our table w menus. Servers appear to be running the kitchen, doing dishes, stocking the bar - rather than serving customers. They could benefit from some specialization and prioritization.

We were unable to stay here as Azores Air cancelled our flight while at airport in the morning over employee strike. We immediately notified Furnas Hotel and they had no issues with room cancellation, but did tell us by email we needed to get credit from Expedia where we booked the reservation. When we went back to Expedia for credit, Expedia was then told we were a \"no show\" by Furnas Hotel and Expedia could not give us a refund ($400). I emailed Furnas about the denial and they have never responded. I find this deceptive behavior.

We loved the personalised touches like cookies in our bedroom and pastries in the lobby, as it made it feel like a home away from home. All the staff were really helpful but especially Nuno the experiences manager, who linked us with really amazing azorean experiences like kayaking, canyoning and e-biking in sete cidades. We went on our honeymoon and I can say our expectations were surpassed!

Amazing spa facilities. Great wifi. Great breakfast. Room was lovely with water, coffee, tea and biscuits topped up everyday. Staff so helpful. Just a great stay overall :)

Great value, food, facilities. But bring a suit.

The Azores are an amazing place and this hotel-spa complex is a great place to stay when in San Miguel. Extremely well run, very comfortable rooms, excellent food in the restaurant, including a wonderful breakfast included in the very reasonable price. Loved the spa facilities, but unfortunately nudity that's even required in the great spas of Northern Europe is not allowed in more conservative Portugal. Oh well. Hint. The pools are open 24 hours and late at night you can easily go sans bathing suits. However, the saunas and steam rooms where nudity is much more comfortable are locked at night. Go anyway.

We used the thermal pools and outdoor pools everyday, after coming back from our day hikes and driving. We also loved the convenience and excellence of breakfast and reserved dinner most every night. The staff was superb!
