Please dont go by the images. If you are planning to stay in 4/5 star book the known brand. swimming pool is like a dirty pond. They have pathetic rooms. Mattress were worn out and in bad condition.
I have learnt it hard way.

Some niggles but excellent location and value.

The hotel itself is clean and pleasant, with good access to the beach and a nice pool- although loungers would have been nice.
The staff were very attentive and friendly, even when there were language barriers.
Unfortunately, the poor build quality of the roomms meant there were gaps around the doors- so the air con was nowhere near a decent efficiency.
Power cuts were an issue constantly, and the wi fi is both slow and difficult to connect to.
The restaurant and bar were excellent and the staff extremely attentive.

The hotel was really nice and staff was friendly but bit loose on promptness. The restaurant also serves really great food!! My only complain with the place is the internet connection, it says free wi-fi but there is barely any connection… Otherwise the area around the hotel is amazing, very close to the beach and the beach is also very nice and clean and quiet compared to others. Overall, good stay!

On the good side was the buffet breakfast and food in general. The live music was also very good.
The downside was as follows:
Regular power outages, Strange pool rules of unable to wear cotton and hair having to be tied back, The toxic mosquito spraying in the pool area one afternoon with many in and around the pool having to breath that crap in & average house keeping not having toilet paper in the rooms upon arrival.

The front staff are not so welcoming. The reception team are not so understanding and helping but the housekeeping and restaurant staffs are the best. The House keeping person Mr. Ram did his work excellently, cleaned the room so nicely.
The place is very near to beach and it is mainly family crowd so we enjoyed a lot. the location is excellent.

Overall the stay was below our expectation.. bathroom cleanliness was a big problem. Commode was leaking when flushed and overall hygiene was not maintained. Wifi was a big problem, there is no coverage for Airtel and hotel wifi was so bad that you cannot even make a voice call.

The good points were location, accessibility to the beach, breakfast and staff behaviour

Overall it’s a two star for me.

The resort was so terrible we left after 30 minutes of being there. The internet was so bad that a basic, webpage/application wouldn't load on my cellphone. When asked to troubleshoot they brushed us off. I stressed that I had to work remotely but they didn't seem to care. The property is NOT beachfront as described. The staff wasn't accommodating. I requested a refund but did not get one. Not up to standard. DO NOT waste your money on this \"resort\". There are cheaper and better options available nearby.

I booked a standard room and it was the Worst room I’ve ever booked in my years on Expedia. After night one they moved me to a “family” room which was much better. The pool is really nice but can be loud at times. This is a family hotel so avoid rooms at the pool unless you like loud noise. The service staff is outstanding I must say. Can’t say that about the management. This was not an inexpensive stay either. For the money your better off at some of the other locations like Bloom.

Upon check in we were forced to pay £130 for the two of us to attend the hotels New Year’s Eve party. I was aware before visiting there was a charge, however dismissed it as I knew we had no intentions of attending. However the hotel would not let us check in without paying for this extra first.

We were not the only guests checking in at the time who were disgusted that we were being forced to pay for an event we had no interest in attending.

On the positive side the hotel did up-grade our room after the first night as a small token apology.

On the negative side because we had paid so much (remember Goa is so cheap) we felt we must attend the party for food if nothing else. No drinks were included in the £130 which is outrageous too. The food was an Indian buffet and not to our liking. Music was Punjabi.

Other feedback:
- The pool look tired.
- If you ask for anything ie beach towel expect to be charged
- Even though we had paid for breakfast we had to argue that we had two mornings.
- Customer services and management of the hotel are weak and not visible to discuss issues at the time.

Summary:
I would not stay there again!

Worst experience in Goa

One of the worst experiences I have had so far. The rooms were nowhere near to where they promised to be, the bathroom was stinking, the bathroom tiles were broken, the staff did not cooperate to change the room. I will never ever go back to this resort. I don't recommend this one.
Only plus points are good food and proximity to the beach area.

Getting to the hotel is a mission. Welcome was good. The rooms is a disaster. Dirty, no proper shower open shower toilet area. Old linen - poor condition of furniture and poor quality mattresses.
Definitely not 4star - perhaps two star. Ambience at dining area in poor. When we booked it said that the hotel is on the beach - it was not you had to walk more that 200 meters and no shade along the walk. limited beach chairs and umbrellas. Nothing appealing about this hotel. We requested to checkout.

Great Ambiance for Great Price!

The hotel had a fabulous ambiance and the staff were all super helpful and friendly! Breakfast could be slightly different/better. Very few choices for people from other countries. Yogurt as a daily choice would be nice and more variety of fresh fruit and fresh hot coffee vice dried coffee and hot water! I got very tired of curried foods and that is not my idea of breakfast at all. Not any fault of the hotel but the beach is terribly NASTY with filth and trash everywhere. Also I recommend a 2nd floor room if are a solo/couple traveler because if you have a family above you it can get very noisy. The hotel was amazing in moving me rooms to the back and on a second floor!

Well I think it was a bad time when we reached there. Most annoying was that our grand swiss cottage was completely wrapped in polythene sheet to protect wooden cottage from excessive rain. The cover completely blocked wind and I could not enjoy balcony. You don't go to a resort to just sit inside your A/C room do you ?
This is my 2nd visit to Estrelo De Mar and compared to my first visit this time I found that a lot of open area has got newly constructed rooms making it loosing the charm of a resort.
Best part is that hotel staff is very well behaved, food is good complemented by live music makes it an unforgettable experience.

Our worst experience ever. All the photos are far from the reality there. Don't let them fool you! We walked into the room and knew right away we got tricked as they did NOT show us the room we paid for. As we complain, they start showing us a bit better room and told us all rooms are all booked. Then when we were about to leave, they suddenly said they wanted show us another better room available. We booked for 2 nights, paid almost $300 and demanded to leave and get our money back for at least 1 night but the receptionist did NOT care. He said there was nothing he can do and if I need something, go talk to manager. And when I asked where is the manager, the receptionist said the manager was not there. Since it was 3 AM and shower raining outside, they tried to leave us with no choice. But we could not stay in that place and deal with those people for another minute, we called for a cab and immediately went to another hotel, considering we got ROBBED the first day on vacation. I could NEVER imagine booking via Hotel.com could be this worse, I have been a loyal customer on Hotels.com. Use it to book my travels in Europe, Asia, US, everywhere else. Unbelievable!!!!

Decent hotel with a lot of 'but's

This hotel is average across the board. It's only benefit is its location. It's located perfectly between Calangute and Baga which makes it a great hotel to walk and visit both of these areas. The hotel itself was fine. The paid wifi is a bit rediculous especially because this is he only hotel I've heard of recently that does this. The staff was nice, but it seemed like we were constantly bothering them. The beach was beautiful, but filled with people trying to sell you things. Overall, average.

DON'T STAY HERE!

DO NOT STAY HERE! This is not a 4 star hotel. I have never given a negative review before, but this was so bad I feel like people should be warned. We arrived here at 1:00a.m. and they could not find our reservation,While 3 other guests came and were allowed in to their rooms. All other hotels were booked in the area. Finally after much \"discussion\" with the manager, they were looking under the wrong booking agency. We didn't get the keys to our suite until 3:20am. We were lead to the family suite, which was a queen bed, 2 cots, and a cheap couch in a smoking room. The shower had a bucket in it and there was no hot water. And for this we paid over $700/night! We requested to be moved to a smaller (but nicer) room. They agreed with no price change. Too little.... too late... Maybe if you stay in the swiss chalet portion to begin with you'd have a better experience.

GOOD
Vibrant - very busy, lots of local Indian tourists. Great family place. Entertainment every evening

Accomodating - We asked to be moved because of noise problems and they moved us

Food - excellent, consistently. Breakfast was exceptional.

Room service - So cheap and quick and excellent

Friendly - everyone was really friendly and despite a lot of barriers on English

Wifi - I paid £7 for a 60 hour card - it worked in the room.

BAD
Airport pick up - Were not there for pick up. left standing at the airport for 45 mins

Noisy - The rooms on one side are backed onto a housing. Every morning it sounding like I was waking up to someone hocking a lugey in my ear (the sound of India)

Uncomfortable beds and pillows - in our first room these were dreadful. In our second room not so bad.

Inconvenient - there is no ability to bill things to the room - not drinks down at the beach, not room service and not even the mini bar.

Hygiene - while the room cleaning was good it seems it is common practice to not have individual towels for guests at the beach. Take something to put on top.

Beach annoyance - people asking me to buy things on the beach - I did spend a bit - who am I to take the good bits of goa and give nothing back? If you go, take gifts like good quality nail polishes for the girls

If I did stay at Baga again I would spend more on accommodation, probably going for a 4-5 star

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 9 nights on vacation. We were really happy with the cottage that we rented for the stay, and the location to the beach was great!

However...the first thing that upset us was when the employee who brought us to our room let us know that he wanted more money for his tip. Also, shortly after getting to our cottage, we figured out that the free Wifi is only in the restaurants and beach area, and not available in our room. This was a huge inconvenience for us because I had to go to one of the restaurants twice a day to check emails for work.

The last thing that really upset us was when one of the hotel employees made se*ual gestures to my girlfriend by the pool. Even though we asked him to stop, he continued to stare at her and make his gestures, and another employee threw pool towels to her to cover up (she was wearing a normal bikini).

Overall, our vacation was good, but I would not stay here ever again, or recommend this hotel to anyone with a woman, or young girl, in their group.

Good Hotel to stay near Beach

The main charm of this hotel is its location, its very near to beach, you can very easily go down to beach and enjoy. Management staff were not too much collaborative as is expected in hospitality industry. The ground level staff were more cooperative than them. Hotel was clean and maintained properly. My entire 4 days stay was excellent.

Good location but staff and reception were slow to deal with my room issues. Breakfast was chaotic. But worst of all I got charged for water from my mini bar I never drank. it wasn't the mimimal cost of it but that they didn't believe me when I said I never drank it and forced me to pay. I'll never return. Much preferred and would recommend the Rio Resort where I also stayed.

Pathetic place for exorbitant price

As soon as you enter the reception, the girl at the check-in counter welcomes you by saying that 'How dare you to come early', you should have come after 2.
The place has already charged 'more than enough' money, and they want additional money for wi-fi, towel, blankets, iron box, extra tea bags...and more....so cheap behaviour, on part of this big resort. And most of it, when i just mentioned that i want to check-out bit late, they gave me a full price list for same...500 for 1 hr. late...1000 for 3 hr. late....2000 for 6 hr. late, and so on.

In short, they just want to milk you till the max, coz they know that you are never gonna be back.

Worst stay ever!!!!!

First thing we noticed when arriving was the bad service. No one even attempted to take our luggage to the reception. We were \"upgraded\" to one of the cottages near the beach, however the bathroom Windows didn't close properly so mosquitos were everywhere due to adjacent plants and bushes. So we asked for a normal room in the hotel building. What we got was a tiny room even too small for two people. Next thing was, they didn't even provide free drinking water for arriving guests. \"Free\" wifi was available from 11am to 11pm in the earring area, but not the lobby.
And the owner of the hotel was sitting in the corner of the restaurant all day long, drunk and molesting hotel guests.
In a nutshell, the hotel management is the worst among all the hotels I've been to and I will never stay at this place again. Totally overpriced for what you get.

The price charged by the hotel is because of the location and not the rooms. The hotel is right on the beach and has its own shack. Swiss cottages are awesome and the overall experience was good. If you are ready to pay few extra dollars and want to stay near to the beach, then this is the place.

I booked a swiss cottage which is terribly small for the price that the hotel is charging. The floor mats were used and dirty with little left to use. They charge even for the drinking water and do not provide a bottle each day. I was charged Rs. 30 for a bottle of water which I did not order nor did consume. Although the amount is small, it is the question of ethics and the hotel staff argued with me to pay for it. This hotel does not provide free WiFi facility. It is available at a heavy price of Rs. 300+/day which I find it way to expensive. The swimming pool is way too small and dirty and decided not to get into the pool the moment me and my kid saw it.
Fortunately, the staff in restaurant facing beach was cordial and the food was good with separate Veg and Non-Veg kitchens.
I visit Goa once a year and this surely was not a pleasant experience of all the beach resorts that I have stayed thus far.

The hotel rooms are pathetic, dirty and the staff is unfriendly. Only the front desk staff was slightly accomodative , as they gave us a room change. The new room was slightly better than the earlier.But there was no foot mats in the rooms, inspite of asking, they never gave us. Due to to and fro from the beach, we desperately needed foot mats. They charge even drinking water in the room, they don't even give a bottle each day.For each thing you have make several calls to the room service and housekeeping. The blankets are super dirty, worst than railways. When asked for extra blanket they gave us a torn one; like beggars. The hotel maintenance is poor. They have just one buffet and you will have to queue up for several minutes and no tables for breakfast. The food was pathetic, same goes for service and cleanliness of the restaurant areas. Please don't go by the photos on the travel websites. The hotel is sure to spoil your holiday experience.

The resort was busy with renovations during our stay. All in all...We had a confortable stay and the staff were really friendly. The resort is literally on the beach...near where everything is happening...so that was a plus for me. Their live entertainment everynight was awesome as well. Hotel staff is pathetic and very discourteous. They did not serve well, nor did they help with basics e.g. check out etc. Parking issues are big. I was forced to park my car outside and my car got stuck in the sand pit. My luggage was lost which I had to recover by going to Panaji.

Good Location. Smallest Room Sizes, OK Service

During our visit to Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort, we did not receive type of service you'd expect from a 3 star resort. The room was extremely small. The size was literally 24 ft by 4 ft. There were bugs coming out from the drain pipe and toiletries were not provided well.

Room noises from next doors are very high. Breakfast sucks and have flies sitting on food!

We enjoyed ourselves. The food as good. The service excellent. The Resort is right on the sea front, though a little away from the main road.

good location and value for money

enjoyed my stay at this hotel last week. its right next to the beach and has good maintenance overall. breakfast buffet is also good.

i suggest them to provide free wifi and reasonable cab charges.

New cottages are under construction here so if some one is staying at cottages, they hv to bear the work noise.

Nice Hotel. Very good location. Amazing food. Room service wasn't upto mark. Very slow. Mobile network issue in the location where hotel is location. However must stay in this hotel if you are in Calangute.

Over all value for money

Breakfast had too many options.(which was excellent).Hotel had arranged for a live singer to entertain the guests for all the meals. (excellent) Room Service was perfect. Beach is at walking distance from the hotel. The only thing that I did not like was rooms could have been better for the price they charge. Bathrooms did not have bath tub.Hotel had some slums near by. (in one corner).

Good Location, Terrible rooms and overpriced

Though I booked almost two weeks before I went to Goa, thought would be a decent hotel as shown in the pictures but none of the picture shown is true of the hotel. I booked a Swiss cottage and believe me it was a small room with smallest ever washroom spaces. The finish of the room was poor. Rooms were not cleaned properly and tea, coffee were not refilled and used cups were not taken away. Even once a hotel staff told me that. I cannot order tea/coffee more than once in a day. Only good part about this hotel is location of the hotel which is right next to calangute beach. And forgot to mention that breakfast was a crowded and badly managed.

Best Location

The greatest thing about this hotel is the location. The stretch of the beach next to this Resort is away from the crowded Calangute and Baga beaches.
The height of the room is very low. The soap holders were missing in the bathroom.
The buffet breakfast is good too.

Excellent Time and great staff

Wonderful friendly staff who made me and my children feel at home. Shame the beach huts were not built as this left a 'building site' when walking down to the beach. Food was amazing and they did everything possible to accommodate the kids and their fussy eating habits. Had a great time and would love to return when the huts are built and renovations complete.

BAD EXPERIENCE

We had a bad experience staying in this property

We are not at all satisfied with the way hotel guys treated us, photo's shown in the web site and when we entered the hotel both doesn't match. We booked two family room's but we have been given a very small room which we didn't expect and also the way they maintain the property is pathetic.

it is really and very near to Beach.

it is really nice experience. we stayed in Swiss Cottege and really it is a nice experience.
and it is exactly center of Baga beach and Caligunte beach....really wonderful experience.

Average hotel for stay...\n

I have booked this hotel and visited last week . I done the booking by checking the facilities and services provided on website like beach restaurant, breakfast ,dinner and accommodation near to seashore.But in actuality I found when I visited there,these all things are not available.Even had booked the Delux room with balcony assuming that having sea view from room.But after seeing the room I was disappointed ,it has no facility as per Delux standard, Ac was very far from bed area so cooling is not enough,balcony view was very untidy.
When I had discussed with their Manager and would like to cancel my booking,they declined and not ready to return single penny.Unfortunately I had to stay there for three days.In this case even i have not got any support from Booking agent also.
At last I would like to recommend this hotel to only those who only just gone for normal visit,this will be not for who are looking romantic vacations.

NOT FOR COUPLES !! A BIG NO

Estrela Domar Resort in Goa looks beautiful in the pictures. However, the room that was shown in the website is completely different from the room that was allotted to us. I faced a lot of problems. After arguing with the hotel managers, they finally agreed to change my room on the second day. I even had a stalker who was hiding outside the room window !! As soon as I opened the curtains, I saw him running !! The best part was, he was one of the hotel staff. I immediately called up the reception to inform the incident and the response was - \"\" Do Not worry sir, maybe one of our employee was on the phone and had walked near your window \"\" Please Note: I was allotted room no 201 which is one of the isolated rooms at the resort. The room is in the extreme corner facing two compound walls on either side!!! Problems started from the time we checked in. List of problems:

1. Hotel boy took us to show the room and I could see a dozen people near the room and a few on top of the room !! What were they doing ??? SOME IMPORTANT WORK !! It took more than an hour for them to leave us alone.

2. The room was not the same room that I saw on the website. The room was really small and had lizards running on the cot.

3. The bathroom had no locks !!

4. I was given a new room only the next day.

5. The new room had cable TV problem and a broken main door lock which was again changed on my request !

6. PLEASE NOTE: The dinner is not near the beach as shown in the pictures !!
