Short walk from the train station, but a longer walk into Matsue itself and around 30 minutes walk to the castle.
Some dining options around the hotel and the area is nice.

Great breakfast. The automatic coffee bar actually had GOOD coffee! A plus for this American visitor! Staff were efficient and professional.
Most of the restaurants were for reservations only, so it was challenging to find a good place to eat.

Great Place to Stay in Matsue

Great place to stay in Matsue. Super close to the train station, an easy 15-20 min walk to the Castle District. Lots of good restaurants and konbini available nearby. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Hotel is very clean and well-run. A great place to stay.

The room was clean and wide enough for two persons (twin bed room) with respect to a Japanese hotel standard. Location was good. 3~5 min walk from Matsue station and 20 min walk to Matsue castle. Breakfast was fine. Although a western-style bread, egg and coffee breakfast was available, I took Japanese local foods, soba and freshwater clam miso soup.

Not the smallest room I've stayed in in Japan, but close to it. Even so, it was comfortable and pleasant, with excellent facilities and an outstanding breakfast buffet. Overall very good value.

Japanese hotels can have very small rooms and the showers are often only waist high so you need to sit down and wash or get everything wet. Having a TV in the bathtub makes the chance of electrocution high! Clean room but after a few days it felt cramped and boxed in. Breakfast downstairs disappointing - too much sugar in cereal and not much to choose from. Fish has plenty of bones if you want to choke or nibble for an hour. Coffee very ordinary - reminds me of a backpackers in Europe. Some days were better than others. Staff were all nice and polite and made up for some of the inconvenience.

Wonderful breakfast, convenient location

The room we stayed in was the smallest of our entire trip. Very tight for two people. The hotel was clean but a little run down, only worth noting if you have bad dust allergies. The front desk seemed positively terrified of having non Japanese guests--also a first on our trip, especially since I can speak (pretty terrible) Japanese. Breakfast and neighborhood were excellent.

Convenient Matsue hotel

The hotel is conveniently located within a four minute walk from the Matsue main train station. It’s proximity to shopping malls, food halls and other restaurants made this an excellent choice for independent travellers as well as family!
The room is rather small but the bathroom is adequately furnished with a excellent bath tub with full-force water pressure! The tub is best suited for mid-sized guests as it’s boxy and not full length! However a built-in seat inside more than meets our expectations!
The shampoo, conditioner and body soap available are excellent branded Japanese products.
Light brewed coffee is available at the small lobby at no charge and this is an excellent pick-me-up during this winter season as well as a hot beverage to keep oneself warm and reenergised!
From 9:30pm till 11pm, they also offered room guests a free bowl of Yonaki soup soba as supper!
Overall, an excellent money for value stay within Matsue city as well as a pit stop for nearby places of interests like Izumo-taisha shrine and the Adachi Museum!

Dormy Inn Express Matsue-Near JR Matsue

The location is really convenient. There is a bus stop located near the hotel and has buses stopping by every few minutes that go to JR Matsue. Possibly it's because it is an \"Express\"? The room and breakfast hall are smaller than the ones at Dormy Inn Izumo, so breakfast time can be quite packed. Staff are friendly, professional, and extremely helpful.

Nice hotel, within 4 blocks of train station. Arrived early so checked my bags before going site seeing. Check-in was quick and they had my bags in my room. Good size room with separate larger bathroom. Bathroom had raised seat for more comfort when soaking and TV so you could watch while soaking in tub. They have optional breakfast you can purchase but didn't try it.

Dormy Inn Express Matsue is 5mins (2-3 blocks) from JR Matsue Station, within walking distances to numerous restaurants and convenience stores.
It was an easy check-in and check-out and they offer luggage storage after check out.
The room is clean and spacious with basic amenities - A/C, TV/cable, WiFi, fridge, and desk, hair dryer, pajamas, and blackout drapes. The full-size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is compact with free bathroom toiletries: shampoo/conditioner/body wash, toothbrush, and shower cap.

Breakfast was great with variety of choices from local Matsue and Japanese dishes to Western food.
They also offered free noodles between 9-11pm!

Conveniently located a few minutes walk from the train station and walking distance from the town centres, castle and Samurai district. The bus station is next to the train station so convenient for using the buses, most notably for Yushien garden. Staff are very friendly and speak very good English.

But for a elderly couple like us the double bed is little too small and a twin room charge is 3 times higher than a single. It would be nicer if they have more reasonable twin bed room.

We had one of the larger rooms in the hotel on the 10th floor and even had a bit of a view of the lake from our window. We also had breakfast included and their breakfast is one of the best we have had in Japan...even from 5 star hotels.

I chose this place because it was near the train station and had great reviews. Wasn't disappointed. Stayed with my partner, the bed is a little small for two, but the services definitely made up for it. The free noodles provided by the hotel for supper is surprisingly good. Would choose this again if I have to go back.

Very convenient with several nice touches

This is the first Dormy Inn I have stayed at so not sure if this is typical.

Very comfortable stay with a few highlights being:
5 min walk to JR Matsue station.
Washing machines / drier on 2nd floor are free. Washing detergent provided and being a front-end loader, allow approx 3 hrs for full wash and dry cycle.

The Homestar Aqua is a nice touch which provides a projection of the stars onto the ceiling. Being portable, this can also be used when taking a bath.

Free soba noodles are provided in the restaurant every night between 21:30-23:00 (suggest go after 22:00 to avoid the rush).

Small by American standards, but I didn't pack much. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom small, but efficient, with very nice shower. The air conditioning was good, easy to adjust, and maintained the selected temperature. Breakfast was excellet, with a choice of soba noodles, tempura, fruit, waffles with fruit, English sauce, or fruit. There were several other items also - all tasty. Would be tight for two Americans who brought a lot of luggage.

Nice room (we had a twin). Very clean. And what we found to be a great advantage: the room had a separate toilet and bath/shower. Plus a separate sink.
Also, free ramen from (I think) 9:30 PM to 11:30 PM.
Also clever: they had a switch on the refrigerator frame, to switch it off in case the hum bugs you at night.
Plus the usual superfriendly service (brought us extra pillows to the room within 5 minutes after asking).

Good location, and excellent service

Very convenient for station, and local buses. This new hotel has small but very high tech rooms. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced at Y900. We were lucky to have a view of the lake from our 9th floor room but adjoining rooms would not have been so lucky and may have only had a brick wall to gaze at. Very pleasantly surprised at the standard of service and fittings and would recommend without hesitation.

Dormy Inn Express- Matsue

As the last stop on my 2 weeks in Japan trip for this year I was very happy to have the least distance to walk from the station in comparison to the previous 3 hotels. A real bonus was the offering of a \"free midnight snack\" between 9:30-11pm of Yonaki Soba. Truly oisshi. Also the provision of free Welcome coffee was...well...welcome. Breakfast was cheaper than Hotel Hokke Club in Fukuoka and better. The choice of warm or cold Izumo Soba and a selection of tempura along with the usual breakfast suspects was excellent. On the whole a very pleasant place to stay. The only minor gripe would be the lack of a view but I suppose the main thing hotel room has to offer is a comfortable bed giving a good night's sleep and the Dormy Inn Express delivered on that so....

This hotel was excellent; exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed our stay there very much. The room was spacious and the toilet and bath were separate. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked great!! It was a very hot day so we were very glad for the excellent air conditioning. The refrigerator was a nice bonus and the TV with some international channels was also appreciated. We will definitely look for more hotels in this chain on our travels and return to this one if we ever have opportunity.

yes indeed, tiny room, but duh, this is japan. great price for an immaculate and efficiently run hotel. the staff are courteous and helpful - one even came up to my room to show get the air con up on its hind legs - and the rooms have everything you need for an overnight stay, from tea kettle to mini-fridge to TV and dock. AND - i've never run into this before, a LAN cable long enough you can work or whatever in bed. kudos! noodle breakfast is very good too and very good value. located in the heart of the city, a 5-minute walk to the train station and hundreds of tiny, very reasonable restaurants to choose from, in and around and station.

客室の清潔さ、スタッフの丁寧な対応はもちろん、気のきいたサービスがうれしかった。入浴剤や、アイス、夜鳴きそばのサービス。
何より朝ごはんがとってもおいしくて、毎日楽しみだった。

個人的にはお風呂の最高温度がもう少し高ければ嬉しかったです。
部屋の目覚まし時計のアラームが前の方のセットした時間に鳴って起こされてしまったので、設定を解除していただけていたらよかったです。

それをのぞけば本当に快適な滞在でした。
また、是非利用したいと思います😃
