I stayed in a suite room at Holiday Inn Kunming and had a great experience. The room was spacious and very clean, with two bathrooms—one in the living room and one in the bedroom. There’s a dedicated workspace in the living area, which is perfect for business travelers. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated having two types of pillows (soft and firm) to choose from. The shower had strong water pressure, making it very relaxing. The hotel is conveniently located near Spring City Mall, which makes shopping easy. If you’re looking for accommodation in Kunming city center, Holiday Inn Kunming should definitely be one of your top options.

The manager in the morning Emily Lou is such a professional in hospitality. The entire staff worked as a team to make customers feel happy and comfortable. They are an asset to IHG. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk from two different subway lines and the main shopping area of the city. Getting from the airport was simple with a subway line direct from the airport to the city center. The hotel was clean with an ample selection of foods at their breakfast buffet. They tried with service but if you don’t speak Chinese it’s hard.

However, was quite disappointed that the room had a strong smoking odour left behind from previous customer, despite the no smoking signage placed inside the room. The room was too warm. We tried to use the A/C to cool it down, only to find it did not work. When we asked the hotel to fix it, we were told it could not be fixed. They provided a loud portable fan for us to use. No offer to change rooms. Disappointing from such a large international hotel chain.

The location of the hotel is excellent due to its close vicinity to the bus stations, metro stations, a modern plaza, and board walk. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. They made extra effort to resolve the WiFi log-in problem I encountered with my iPad. And the room-keeping services were remarkable. The only areas for improvement, although none too serious, are: (1) the non-smoking room we reserved tends to reek of smoke from the vent in the bathroom (this problem could be mitigated by turning on the air-conditioning system); (2) the noise from the street traffic is audible even at the 16th floor although the level is tolerable.

The hotel is well located in the city center and 5 mins walk to the main sub-way hub. It's also very clean. However, I cannot believe that I've been told that the centralised AC system can only be turned on (cooling) after 5 or 6 pm. I cant even have some rest in the afternoon after my check-in because the room was warm and stuffy - 27 c degrees.

The staff was helpful and patient in giving me clear directions to places around the hotel - subway and shopping area was 500m away and places of interest - fei chui lake, dian reservior and western hills. The thai food at the hotel restuarant is authentic thai and taste yummy. I was pleasantly surprised to see a box of birthday cake for me. Thank you !

Friendly and efficient staff. Check in was brief and simple. When I ordered a noodle dish for room service, the staff asked me about my dietary preference to ensure that I would be okay with all ingredients in the dish, which was delivered to my room within the expected time frame. The room was clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed. The only minor thing to improve would be sound proofing around the window. I was able to hear the traffic outside and needed to use ear plugs to sleep well.

Friendly and helpful staff. I got there in the early morning, and they checked me in quickly. Then they promptly helped 3 other travelers I had met on the plane who needed assistance to find a place to stay, as many hotels were already sold out for the night. They made phone calls to nearby hotels and found suitable rooms for these travelers. I got a free upgrade of my room and ended up in a very spacious suite, with a large living area and a large bathroom that featured a beautiful, round bath. The room was beautiful, modern, clean, and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Check out was swift and simple. Will stay there again whenever I am in Kuming.

Good location and on-site restaurant. But the facility is quite old and lagging in maintanence. No AC and the window cannot be closed. Although we stayed on the 8th floor, mosquitos attacked us brutally for two consecutive nights. As a good gesture, manager-in-charge Kevin did compensate us in offering complentary meal. We hope the hotel give a thorough treatment to all rooms so guests can have a good sleep there.

A few days stopover between the airport and points further afield, the Holiday Inn has a good central location and makes for a pleasant and affordable Kunming stay. You won't get any of the exotic here, but you'll get cleanliness and decent service.

The location of the hotel is very good. It is close to the subway station and the stop for the airport express is just across the street. Everybody is very friendly and polite. The breakfast is good with lots of varieties. The only problem I had was even though I booked a nonsmoking room, the room was full of smoking smell. I complained about it and they sent someone up to spray my room. But the smell was still there.

We enjoyed great hospitality and service. The room was kept immaculate and the breakfast offered a big choice of local and European products, very fresh and beautifully presented. We had a good choice of restaurants with Asian cuisine attached to the hotel and the food was excellent. Great hotel with one weird quirk

The hotel is very good with a decent gym, restaurants, staff, etc. The only oddity is that apparently in all the rooms people in the bed area can see into the shower to some degree. How much they can see can be influenced by the lighting used. People can also be seen and heard while sitting on the toilet which is not ideal. These thing are possible because there is clear glass on the side of the shower that faces the bed. Other than thiis the hotel is fantastic.

It is a beautiful hotel. When I checked in of course I had to pay for my airport transfer but they insisted on charging me more than they quoted me before the trip. I said to the staff while you're charging me less charge me for the transfer back to the airport tomorrow morning. She told me she had taken care of that. The next morning after I got in the taxi they had arranged and got to the airport taxi driver indicated I had to pay him. I didn't have any Chinese money cuz I got in close to midnight the night before and I told him that the hotel was supposed to pay for it. He was very upset and so I gave him some foreign money that I had in the previous country I had visited.

This is the friendliest hotel that I've EVER stayed in! When they heard it was our wedding anniversary, they upgraded us to the \"Honeymoon Suite\"! We entered the suite to find fruit, cookies, candy, gifts...! And to top it off, they gave us a 20% discount on our anniversary dinner in their Thai Restaurant! It was an unforgettable experience!

Generally Hotel with Minor Deficits

Located in the heart of the city, this hotel has much positive to say about it. It is clean, the rooms are generally comfortable, the selections on TV are welcome to the Western visitor., and the in-house restay rants very good to excellent. I was also pleased by the hotel stsff, personable and helpful to the last person. We loved its proximity to the Kunming Museum.

Two flaws were evident: no shuttle service to the airport and spotty at conditioning, especially during the late evenings and ealy morning hours.

Hotel is newer and well maintained, located in a high rise building. Located near downtown and near multiple food options. Hotel also has several restaurants. Rooms are on the small side, but well apportioned and maintained, and very clean. Very good value overall in comparison to price paid. Certainly not a five star property but a fine hotel. Located about a 30 minute cab ride from airport.

we arrived around 2A.M. in the morning , room was clean but A/C does not working well , it was hot and stuffy, we called and they sent staff to fix it , it was fine for a while then turn into the same .we had to open window and still hot.
breakfast was great, the staff was clean and friendly.
the third day there were a group of people check in and A/C was good, we think it was the central air set high because it was low season, therefore they set the A/C thermostat high to save money.

I had two rooms here - a standard and a suite, both of which were very nice with lots of room, good amenities, great bedding, pillows (marked as soft or firm) and a wonderful buffet breakfast. The hotel is very clean with a pleasant and helpful staff and, after reading a number of reviews between where to stay in Kunming, believe that this was a great choice at a reasonable price. So not miss the pool area! It is really nice with an outdoor garden and other features that make it well worth venturing over to see it.

A Full and Cordial Service Hotel

We enjoyed totally the first day of our stay. The well appointed clean room, great breakfast and convenient location. The morning of the second day we awoke to the worst flooding in the past 65 years. The Main Street in front of the hotel was under 2 feet of water and yet the majority of hotel staff made it to work. Some walked through waist high water while others rode their motorcycles through the flooded streets of Kunming . Some stayed in the hotel working back to back shifts. More rain was forecasted for the next night and we were concerned about missing our flight. The hotel allowed us to checkout a day early and arranged a reasonably priced van & driver to get us to an airport hotel. A young lady at the front desk was more than helpful. We look forward to our next less eventful visit!

I'd especially like to thank the young lady concierge who got me to my room and rested on a very short stay over. A bit disappointed

I chose Holiday Inn just because its brand name. I have zero faith in any of the Mainland hotels but the international chains. It come to light that I was wrong. First, the room was small compare to the hotels I stayed in other cities. Second, the facilities were a bit not well-maintained. The toilet seat loosened, the bed was a bit dusty. I hate to guess how long this room hasn't been occupied. I asked for room changing and they said the WHOLE hotel was full and no room left and sent a maintenance guy over to had it fixed. And at night we found out that it was the shower handle loosened. The air-con wasn't running properly. I adjusted the temperature to 20 degrees but it was hot the whole night that I couldn't even sleep. We were just way too exhausted to ask for room change again so we stayed in the same room. I worked in the hotel industry and know exactly the way they handle the guests. You'll get something better if you complain but I don't want to be the one of the demanding guests so I didn't do anything. This hotel, I have to say, the people there were nice but know nothing about how to achieve guest satisfaction.

One more highlight, the location of this hotel is absolutely misleading: it is in downtown Kunming but it is absolutely not closed to any of the tourism attractions or not even any of the proper restaurants!
