The lobby area is very nice and the property is clean. Very good breakfast buffet with mix of Western and Chinese offerings. Our room on the 18th floor was clean and comfortable, felt like a budget chain hotel in the US. The only negative the carpet and furnishings which are worn and could stand to be replaced. Staff at the front desk were helpful.

This hotel is near to kunming train station. Hotel staff is helpful. I requested a non smoking room, but the smoking smell is so strong from the previous guests, that I can smell it the moment I stand at the door. I requested for change room and the staff is very helpful, change immediately. The bed is very hard. A Chinese grandma actually allow her grandchild to play ball at 7th floor lift lobby!!! We have to stop her from distrusting the rest of the guests.

Great value and service in Kunming

The airport express bus Line 2 stopped right in front of this hotel. The check-in and check-out process was friendly and efficient. My room on the top floor of the lower building was spacious and completely refurbished. I stayed for six nights and was very pleased with the value and location of this property. The restaurants and room service were also excellent? A word of caution: be prepared to communicate in basic Chinese.

They let people smoking in a no smoking hotel

The hotel is nearby the train and bus stations. The airport bus is just right outside the hotel main entrance. I requested non smoking floor but see the people smoking in the hallway, i notified the staffs and was told they can't do anything about stop them from smoking.

Good but can be improved

Overall, the location is superb as it's located at the terminal of the airport shuttle bus and walking distance from the kunming train station. Breakfast selection wasn't that fantastic and can be improved in terms of variety. Housekeeping is great with clean linen and good service. The bad now ... They didn't check the room properly before allowing guest to move into the room. I was trapped inside the toilet as the toilet for lock was jammed. Luckily there's a in-house phone in the toilet but no directory attached. I've to try letting random numbers before I managed to contact the front desk to rescue me! It'll better if they also provide a list of numbers to dial on the toilet phone, in case the same situation happens again; not many guests would take note of the numbers, unless necessary. So hotel would be better to think from the guests' perspective. Grateful for the technician who spent nearly an hour in knocking down the door to save me from having to spend the night inside a toilet.

Room allocation shoudl have been better

Initially the room allocated was opposite the lift and noisy. Requested a room change and was allocated a room in the old part of the hotel, dim and smelt of cigarette. Finally I got a nice room and have a comfortable stay. The whole check-in process took 45 minutes because of the room changes.

Very good hotel in Kunming

I stayed in the hotel four nights for the conference. Everything was very good, the room was comfortable and clean, wifi worked fast and smoothly. The breakfast was very good and has substantial western components. In my case, it cost 50 yuan but it was worth the price. The location is very good, about 400 meters frim the subway station South Ring Road and about 10 minutes walk from the railway station. Will definitely stay there if I am in Kunming.

Walking distance to Kunming train station and metro. At the end of the airport shuttle bus 2. Room is comfortable and clean. Housekeeping is really good (first time housekeeping helped me to wash my sock lol) but as usual Do not Disturb sign is useless in most china hotels. Lot of food around.

Great Breakfast Buffet, disappointing evening one

Well located as its at the end of the Number 2 airport shuttle. Although reception is laid out like a four star hotel, the room wasn't great, Block A may well be four star but B certainly wasn't. Our room needed decorating, grubby carpet and graffiti on the walls was visible. The rooms above were also being renovated, what a noise. But the breakfast was excellent, huge buffet selection. So impressed we went for the evening buffet. What a disappointment. If you can't get there early, don't bother, the best stuff was gone and not replenished. Although we didn't try any of the other restaurants. Also have to say Kunming is a dull city, miles to the nearest bar and a bit of a police state!

A second visit

I was reasonably satisfied 2 years ago so I came back. Excellent food in the revolving restaurant though they still seem perpetually confused about payment and little English among the restaurant management. Wifi is very much improved. The location is brilliant. Reception staff seem much betterthan those who were there 2 years ago.
Recommended, at least for the start of a stay in Kunming.

Nice place near station of Kunming

Jin Jiang Hotel is near the station of Kunming and center of city.
There are a lot of interesting stores of the food and things.
The only bad thing is that it took long time for check-in.
It's maybe not enough to train the hoteliers.
They didn't notice about my reservation's information at once.
My group members are 12 persons.
We had to wait long time while they did check in process.

The lobby and staff were very nice. The room was moderately clean, but it reeked of cigarette smoke. The grout in the shower could use a good bleaching, and the bathroom countertop was had clearly not been wiped thoroughly. Sheets were clean, but mattress was on the hard side. Except for the smell, it was okay for an overnight stay.

It was a very pleasant stay. Their service was excellent. I was early when I check in. They give me a coupon to have a drink in their cafe and try to clean up a room in half hour for me. Their location is convenient There is a direct airport bus to and from the hotel. it's 10 minute walk to the railway station. I will definitely comeback again

Really worked for our family vacation

This is a very handy hotel in Kunming. It is close to the train station so connecting to other parts of Yunnan is super easy. There are lots of taxis passing by so going around Kunming or surrounding areas is a breeze.

The hotel has a very good Yunnan restaurant in it, and there are several very tasty options nearby.

The hotel could not be called super modern; it has a very strong style from the 80s. I really appreciated that this style is unchanged. Kind of felt like being in a time machine. Basic things like the bathroom and WiFi worked very well. Will book again when in Kunming.

Slightly dated hotel but price was ok

Stayed in April in 2 separate rooms on level 11 and 12 in Tower A. Hotel was ok. The bathroom was quite old with shower over bathtub and a shower curtain. The carpets were a little old and marked. Pillows were not the most comfortable. We were told the rooms we booked (executive rooms) were already all taken so we were upgraded to these rooms. Not sure what the condition of the other rooms were then?! We paid for the hotel buffet breakfast for one of the mornings. It was ok and view was nice from the 23rd floor but as some people mentioned, it was not revolving. Price of hotel room was quite good compared to other hotels. It is about 30 min drive to the airport. There is a night time hawker food lane to the left of the hotel and some small restaurants. We booked a private driver to take us to Shilin Stone Forest and Jiuxiang Caves which is about 2 hours drive away. The young man at the hotel entrance was very helpful. He advised us to take the taxi instead of the bus to Dayuan Park (after checking on his phone) and even went out to the street to help us hail 2 taxis. Best customer service from this man out of all the dealings with the staff. Not sure if would recommend this hotel other than the price. Maybe have a look around at other hotels.

No welcome at the hotel minus a grunt or two. We were treated in silence until they mentioned that we had to pay a deposit. No reason for why we needed to pay a deposit. Then after asking several times they kind of grunted it was for the room key.

The room had trouble with getting the lights on, the housekeeping came after we were in our room to drop off supplies, and the restaurants had food that was a little dry.

Kunming City is the Flower City in China

Kunming is off the travelers path of choice places to go. Being inland. It is one of the cleanest cities for air quality and the climate is okay, I was told that it has never snowed here. Hotel staff are accommodating and if you only ask for them to help you they will write a translation note for you to get to your destination and back to the hotel. It is a safe hotel too, which I like, you can not worry about your belongings when you are out and about.

Stayed in Tower B which is being refurbished and my room was slightly worn in places but very clean, bathroom facilities clean and no problems with shower. Staff helpful. Hotel is the last stop on the No. 2 bus from the airport and picks up outside as well. Close to train station where there are lots of bus stops for all parts of Kunming.

The Lobby had been redone but the rooms were old, with a bad smell. The a/c was very week and the beds were hard as a rock! Also not any outlets in the room to charge electronics. We chose this place because it was close to the train station and that was the only thing that was ok about it. So for one night of conveniance it was ok.

Near railway station

Initially, reception could not find our second room booking. We were upgraded to Block A. Good size but the mattress was not comfortable. One can feel the metal springs poking you throughout the night.

The daily fruit and yoghurt were good feeler but housekeeping won't give a new one if you don't finish up the early supply.

The elevators do not have the scanner to scan key cards. There is no security staff at elevators to ensure genuine guests. Therefore, anyone can go up to guest rooms. A guide tout went up to our rooms to sell us tour packages. My husband told him to go away through closed door.

The revolving restaurant provides a good view of the surrounding area.

The room was comfortable and the location of the hotel excellent. Downside:the hotel missed a requested and triple confirmed wake up call, which could have had a dramatic impact on our flight.
Also, the attached Shanghai restaurant has poor service. One item we ordered from the menu never arrived, appeared on the bill and was cancelled. All this without explanation.
All in all a good hotel,but don't expect any additional service.

Really ckean, very comfy, awesome staff who were all so happy to help. Downtown is a 35 minute stroll or easy cab ride. All cabs were honest & no motorbike taxi charged me more than 15rmb (I live in Shanghai & this is unherad of). The best thing is the street at the back of the hotel has amazing bbq stalls going on all night, but its not loud. so you can get nice cheap food until late but given the proximity, sleep is not disturbed. An all round excellent hotel.

Late arrival, room confusion, but nice hotel.

We arrived very late after a long day's travel. We had booked 2 adults, 2 children but were taken to a room with two single beds even though all 4 of us went to the check in desk. Apparently this was not the hotel's fault, but it clearly stated 4 people on the booking sheet. Eventually a senior manager found us a bigger room, but all they had was a King Bed. They said that is all they have in this hotel, so Expedia needs to sort out its booking process as we clearly selected 2A, 2C aged 11. We were so tired, my wife slept on the couch and I slept on the floor. (The kids got the bed of course!) Not really what one expects from a flash hotel, but our room rate was pretty cheap at least.
Fantastic Buffet Breakfast in the morning on the top floor that made up for the lack of beds...

Very adequate hotel, but booking system chaotic

Administration a bit chaotic and hotel denied existence of booking at first. Other guests had the same experience.
Chinglish on lift instructions completely wrong.
Location excellent and food very acceptable. Room large and very adequate. Could have done with an iron.
As elsewhere in China, great shortage of electric sockets.
Very good value for money. Desperately need their booking system sorted out.

A lovely hotel in a prime location ..
As a 4 star hotel the bedrooms ( mine anyway) is slightly in need of a refurbishment ..
But .. It is still great value for money .
The hotel ( reception / lounge area / restaurants ) are to the highest standard.
Anyone staying there should visit the revolving restaurant on the 23rd floor, I can vouch for the buffet breakfast and buffet lunch , as value for money and a choice which should be suitable for most western diners.
The staff .. Excellent .. 5 stars all the way .. Special thanks to Ms G....( manageress) ( she has very good English if you only speak English)

Poor room condition but pretty good location.

We stayed in Block B of the hotel. Room carpet floor was wet and room smelled mouldy. We called the receptionist who informed us that the cleaners have scrubbed the carpet and wet it so we just need to leave it dry (which is ridiculous cause it makes the room smell). Location is pretty good, near to railway station and a couple of restaurants, and a taxi can take you to a large shopping area (dong ping pedestrian street) for around ¥10 which is good. The hotel also provides tour service (bus & food) to Stone forest but you have to book a day before (about ¥500). However we decided to go ourselves by bus which overall costs much cheaper and more worth it cause we can spend as much time as you like and the place is massive (the tour only gives about two hours). Don't forget to go to a food stall that sells really good and cheap soup noodles by the minor stone forest area. Overall recommend for 2 nights max. due to room condition and cost.

Booked for 7 nights. Last 4 nights air con not cooling. They put a mini fan in my room still very warm. Stinged by the long leg mosquito very itchy.The front desk don't even bother to change room. Booked at your own risk. Look grand but taste plain. But this chain hotel at tongren is great.

The Kunming Jin Jiang Hotel is conveniently located on Beijing Road within a 5-10 walk of the Kunming train station, airport shuttle stop and metro system. Convenient with a little extra

This is such a convenient hotel if you are either flying (catch No.2 airport shuttle on the forecourt) or using the train (five minute walk to main train station). There is also some great street food in the side street next to the hotel. Little touches like small vases of fresh flowers and a few pieces of fruit in your room lift this hotel above the ordinary.

Great connections for rail and air

This is a big, unremarkable hotel but it has one one very useful feature: it's the end of the line for the airport shuttle bus No.2. That means if you are coming from or going to the airport from central Kunming you have a convenient and easy link. The hotel is also a ten minute walk from Kunming train station.
The area around the hotel is ok for street food and simple noodle restaurants too. If you want to try \"Crossing the bridge rice noodles\" or clay pots dishes then you won't need to do much more than cross the road.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and everything in our bathroom worked. We were glad we stayed there.

For my purposes, the hotel was well located, especially when I left Kunming by train and the station was ten-minute walk away. As for the room, it had all the necessary amenities, but fell short on heat. Even when I raised the thermostat setting to 30 degrees, the room was not sufficiently heated. Even worse was the temperature in the hotel's lobby which called for winter jackets and coats. To finish with praise, the hotel's breakfast spread is excellent.

The distance from the airport was only 13 km but it took us almost 40 minutes to get there. The room smells like cigarette even though a no smoking sign is posted. Room carpets needs to be replaced. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. Felt like sleeping on a floor. The bathroom needs some updating and cleaning.

right in the middle of the city. so very convenient to every thing the subway is closed by and there are buses everywhere.

The street is occupied by many street vendors selling fruits.So, you dont need to go far. Lots of restaurants with affordable price. Furthermore, there is the night market around the corner. It is the traditional night market found in
many Chinese cities, such as taiwan, H.K.. You can buy foods of many kinds and wonder through each stand and order the food you like.

The hotel is good location at the end of the airport bus line and very close to the train station. There are lots of places to eat close by.
The hotel rooms are a little tired and could definitely do with renovation but more than adequate for the price.

I stayed at the Kunming Jin Jiang Hotel for two nights, one at each end of a trip that left me with layovers in Kunming. The hotel is very convenient—airport bus #2 goes directly there—and the nearby subway makes it easy to get into the center of the city. Jin Jiang is a Chinese hotel chain that I've stayed in before, and the quality of their accommodations can vary by quite a lot. The Kunming location is by far the best I've stayed at: the hotel was clean and the room comfortable. The bathrooms could stand to be refurbished, but that's primarily a cosmetic issue. The one thing I would have liked was either more power outlets in the room, or a power strip with multiple outlets to charge my various devices (laptop, camera, phone, iPad). Front desk staff were completely helpful and got me in and out quickly on both occasions. I'd certainly stay there again.

Great location, walking distance to railway statio

We arrived at hotel at midnight, half day ahead of checking time, we had to pay for the only suite available for the night, 1,100 yuan for a few hours. Staff and the hotel were overall friendly.

There are very few seating in the lobby for waiting. Most of our time waiting in the lobby was on the stepps, while there is a large, huge area reserved for tea, coffee serving, but few would spend money for tea..

Please let guests sit.... in the lobby while waiting...

As mentioned, this hotel was a stopover to dali. The decor is slightly dated, but still pretty good.
Reasonable hotel, slanted towards business clients rather than tourism.

Generally ok and recommended for stay. Very close to train station and other facilities.

Very Helpful Staff

There are two wings to this building and my room was in the older wing. The room itself was fine. A little older and clearly has not be updated but was clean and had more than enough space.

The staff at the hotel were very helpful. From the Doormen to the room attendants, there were all very help with information and assistance.

Location, was ok as it was pretty easy to get a taxi and steps to the subway.

Easy hotel with english speaking staff who are helpfull. Rooms are clean and confortable. A little far from old city center though as trafic is heavy but very easy transfer to the Airport (bus going each 20 to 30 minutes).
There is no restaurant or bar around and the bar of the hotel is not so pleasant.

Very conveniently located 4-star hotel

We stayed here 2 nights in April. Wifi was missing but a friendly staff came to install the device in our room. She also fixed the air-cond and in the end declined our tips, saying it's not in her culture to accept it.

Check-in staff asked for RMB 200 deposit eventhough I have paid to Expedia prior to arrival.
