An ordinary hotel in Battambang- very hard uncomfortable bed, room didn’t overlook a pool- shower room had water, we didn’t get any hot water, curtains were ineffective. Interesting lock (padlock) for the room, We ordered some room service- this was ok. Seemed a nice family running the place but it’s more of a guest house feel.

We enjoy the ambience and the natural beauty of The Greenery in the setting of the property... I certainly appreciated that the water provided was not in the plastic bottles at the same time you must keep your water filter clean.
When saying that occurs to me is in the advertisement before I book the room and said the beds were Select Comfort beds they were not they were on a concrete pedestal and the mattresses were certainly very very firm.. After staying in over 40 different hotels in the last year I know what kind of bed you shouldhave what kind of price for over or forty dollars you should have a western-style bed. That was frankly the biggest disappointment. Other than that everything was adequate. But I still have to point out that the price would be more like $30 top with that kind of bed

Lovely quiet place to stay in Battambang. A little bit out of town but of course tuk tuk always available. Nice little restaurant on site food is very good. Staff lovely. Bamboo train trip definitely a must. Only negative was the private car and driver arranged for us by the hotel. Car was very old and the driver spoke no English. Very unpleasant 6 hour drive to Phonm Penn. Drove past new service centres with toilets and restaurant but driver took us to a dodgy roadhouse. I normally would not complain but better facilities were available. Funny though driver knew enough English to ask for a tip when we arrived at our new hotel. So check your car before you leave. We used a private car and driver from Siem Reap to Battambang 3 days prior and was extremely happy with both car and driver.

The villa condition is tired, but very good by Cambodian standards. The staff tried very hard to make our stay pleasant. I would recommend The Sanctuary Villa for your stay in Battambang, and don’t miss the Baha’i temple when you tour the town.

The Sanctuary Villa was a lovely place to stay, with beautiful plant and flower-filled surroundings. The room was good, with a big bath and although we didn't use the pool, it looked lovely. If you're going to stay, please be aware that the mattress is very hard, and it's a ways out of town so feels a little isolated. Otherwise, recommended!

Worn out boutique, in desperate need of some love

Average at best. You’re in Cambodia, so need to adjust your expectations, but this place is being run into the ground by lazy staff. In what would’ve been a wonderful little oasis, lies a tired, worn out boutique hotel in every respect. The pool is dirty, towels filthy, food simple beyod comprehension, dirty rooms, fixtures and fittings falling apart, terrible a/c. Don’t waste your time and stay somewhere closer to town. I sincerely hope management or the owner read this and pick up their socks otherwise it’s a lost cause.

A beautiful spacious room with a corner bath and separate rainfall shower.
Refreshing pool with sunbeds and shared pavilions for whiling away the hours.
Super staff that can help with hiring mopeds, getting boat and circus tickets (plus much more) and excellent chefs for dishing up yummy breakfasts, even wrapping it up to go for an early departure!
The only detraction from an otherwise perfect stay is that the mosquito nets (much needed in the watery surroundings) are a little small for the beds, much better would be square nets set over four posters, so sleepers are not pressed against the netting.

Lovely quiet villa!

We only could stay one night, but this place was perfect. Very clean, easy to get to and from, great food and the staff were friendly and helpful. Also, a super spacious bed which was a relief after a 3 hour drive! Highly recommend this place!

Poor Management

The staff is young but they are dedicated to making sure the guests are comfortable and have what they need. They are the reason why this hotel may be receiving higher review scores.

Management on the other hand is disappointing. The new owner (bought the place a year ago) could care less about the guests. Not only does he show up midway through the day but he does not have any passion in the hospitality sector - he's only in it for the money.

A secluded retreat

This is a beautiful landscaped setting. It has 8 villas 2 of which were closed for renovation - so much room and friendly staff for 6 villas. It was extremely hot 40+ when we were there so the large and exposed pool also was hot but this country is near the equator so it is the way it is. Villas were spacious as is the reception, dining etc area. You need a tuk tuk to go places but this is easily organised by staff. They also booked bus tickets to Phnom Penh...loved it,

Amazing Staff, Tranquil Location

The staff at the sanctuary villa were amazing! It was a beautiful place to stay and a good stop over if you are going between Phnom Pehn and Siem Reap. The staff were able to organise private car transfers, tours and in room massages.

Potential to be amazing but needs some love

The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and the reception area was very welcoming. Our room was spacious, but very 'tired'. The bed was very uncomfortable and rock hard and simple things like the net curtains were very dirty with holes in. The doors in the room had thick layers of dust over them and the seating area cushions were stained. The bathroom also needs refreshing. We didn't use the pool. Sadly we ate breakfast in town after our first day.
There is huge potential for this hotel to make it a wonderful destination with a few simple changes that could name this a real oasis and hidden gem

Not impressed and won't stay there again

The bathroom was really dated, and my partner who is really easy-going was afraid to shower barefoot in the shower room.

It's a really quiet area, I wouldn't recommend going there if you are going out at night.

The room floor was also really dusty and old.

The only good thing about this place is the service.

My Stay in Sanctuary Villa - Battambang

I arrived Battambang to a very hot week - 39 degrees. Sanctuary Villa was a refreshing getaway in the midst of extreme heat and dusty road.

I tried the pool but the water was too hot and due to the heat, it smells.

The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Due to the heat, the air con was not strong enough so i had to ask for a fan. The shower was very narrow and the water pressure was poor. Toilet was ok, not great.

Due to work, i am returning again in a months' time. This Villa is the best option for given surroundings.

A lovely sanctuary for a few days, only a few minutes by tuk tuk to the centre of town. Discrete and secluded spot with lovely pool. Great and attentive service from staff, including Sayan, Sothep and An Ratha. Personalised tuk tuk tour of country with Mr Bo Rain was great. Cooking class before transfer to Siem Reap great fun. Could have stayed and relaxed a day or so longer.
Meals lovely, simple but fresh breakfasts.

Would not recommend! Overbooked and bumped out...

We arrived at the hotel to be told that they had overbooked and we could not stay for the 3 nights confirmed and paid for. They offered to move us to a different hotel after 2 days which would have been a real inconvenience. They have 3 hotels in Battambang in the same group but no hotel could accommodate us for 3 consecutive days in the same standard of room. Eventually we agreed to stay in a much inferior standard of room in a different hotel (i.e. it had a shower in a \"wet room\" where the shower was almost literally over the toilet). And we only achieved that after they had shown us a ridiculously poor room which we declined. It was impossible to get any clear answers about which hotels we could stay in for which nights, or why our booking had been taken.

That said, in the end we were very glad not to stay at the Sanctuary Villa. When shown the room we could have for 2 nights, it was fine but the bathroom was a small concrete wet room which hundreds of mosquitos. The whole complex was infested with mosquitos. It is also very far from the centre along dark rural lanes with no waiting tuk tuks and just one hotel tuk tuk that can be called. So if you want to go into town I would not recommend.

We ended up at the Vimean Sovannaphoum owned by the same people. It was fine (apart from the bathroom) and the main rooms appeared lovely. The pool was fine although breakfast was mediocre. It was a much better location.

Nice hotel situated outside Battambang centre

The hotel is situated a little way outside Battambang centre - approximately 5 min tuk tuk drive, but too far to walk.

It's a nice location and rooms are based on an old Khymer style. Rooms were generally fairly clean and well presented, although there were some insects in the rooms as a result of the more open style.

The restaurant on-site is nice and the manager and staff were extremely helpful / keen to be so. In some instances this keenness wasn't replicated in actions i.e. I had to ask for something to be done a number of times and it still wasn't.

Breakfast ok.

I had a problem with my booking as the hotel misplaced this so was put up in their sister hotel for the first evening, and the manager was very helpful in rearranging this for me.

Nice guest house with lots of potential. Very peaceful. Really nice pool and surroundings. Staff were very nice and helpful. Only problem - there was no hot water or pressure in shower, and no mosquito net in room. There was a gap in the door so mosquitoes could get Inside.

The only place worth staying!!

Went for a quiet break from Siem Reap with my boyf after 3 weeks of travelling around Cambodia. The name is accurate it is a wonderful place to recuperate. I wouldnt eat here for the authentic experience of dinner- but the kitchen closes early so we went out every night.

The rooms were amazing but the hot tub in ours was hard to work and then the plug got stuck and we couldnt empty the water!
However the shower was fine and we were both able to fit in together.

Cambodian Oasis in Battambang

My sister and I stayed here for three nights. We enjoyed it so much we're going back for another night before heading to Phnom Penh. The beautiful villa is perfect after sight seeing. Staffs were friendly and alway smiling. Just make sure you know where the villa is located (very important, please do goggle map it before arriving in Battambang). Ideally, arrive during the day because the villa is beautiful.

Lives up to its name

We loved our stay at Sanctuary Villa, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the walk-in wardrobe with space for suitcases was a great idea. We had a private outdoor bath too! The hotel is only a few blocks from the centre of Battambong, and there is a free tuk-tuk into town. The gardens are beautiful, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool.

The hotel was a little out of town (about 15 minute walk), but in a nice peaceful environment. Accommodation was clean and modern in individual units. The pool and garden were well maintained. Service in the restaurant and at reception could be quite slow. Breakfast varied in quality from day to day. Coffee served one morning was cold.

Getting out of town

A nice hotel a short tuk tuk into town. Driver provided at the gate. The hotel is set in the \"suburbs\" and close to a monastry so you can see day to day life of the locals and hear to monks chanting. Great pool area and the restaurant while limited in choice was more than attentive by the pool for beers and cocktails. In town there are many restaurants and eating places. Smoking Pot is great and offers a cooking class which was fantastic. Battambang is not a big town like Phnom Pehn or Siem Reap but a great place to see the real Cambodia.

A treasure Hotel!

Service was amazing upon arrival until the day you check out. Location isn't great but the local Tuk Tuk will take you everywhere at such a reasonable cost. I loved the quietness and serene of this hotel (fits the name perfectly). Will definitely go back in the future. A+++

Wunderschön angelegt in einem Außenbezirk von Battambang. Mit dem Tuk-Tuk nur 5 Minuten ins Zentrum. Die Sauberkeit insbesondere der Dusche hat zu wünschen übrig gelassen. Das Personal war sehr zurückhaltend und hat nur mäßig Englisch gesprochen.

The hotel can best be described as faded glory.

The hotel has had its best time. There is an urgent need for some refurbishment work. In the room there was almost no hot water. The rooms can be cleaned much better. The dust was everywhere and as you can see on the photo of the chair it has never been cleaned in years.

But the most frustrating was the breakfast. Ants were everywhere! On the fruit, in the bread, on the meat. Really everywhere! And this was not a one-time case. It happened daily! Now we are used to go to Asia, but nowhere have we seen them deal with the food like here. The staff simply did nothing about it. A tap on the plate to remove some ants was the solution for them.
