Pleasant stay in Battambang

The room had torn wallpaper and it was a bit gaudy in design, but beds were comfortable. Nice view onto the river and nice balcony facing the river and city. The free breakfast was really good and filling. Good choices and good service.

I like that this place is in walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Friendly staff members. They do try to keep the place clean, but every now and then I do see baby cockroaches wondering about in the rooms. I was on the 3rd floor and during the night you can hear a lot of noise coming from who knows where. Maybe the upper floors are better?

We enjoyed our stay here. Not super clean, especially the lift which was pretty gross. The food was amazing, try the Pork with Fried Banana.
Staff very helpful with good English.
Our tuk tuk driver Mr Pool is to be highly recommended.

Very disappointing

We booked a 'River View Room' for 3 nights. The room was dark and dingy, smelled musty, the decor was outdated and curtains and walls were in bad condition. The windows had heavy shutters attached, which meant when the windows were closed, there was NO view at all. We changed to a standard room with city view that at least had a normal window and wasn't as musty. However, we found the floor, furniture and walls quite dirty. The pool is in the garage of the building, there were several cockroaches (dead and alive) and the water was very cold - we could not use it. We had too many issues at this hotel. Our booking incluced daily buffet breakfasts, which turned out to be a very limited a la carte. We had to get our key re-set 5 times over the first two days to get into our room. The shower was only luke warm the first couple of days. We booked this hotel as it advertised for free bicycles but were told that there were no bicycles as they were broken by previous guests. The hotel manager did eventually source two very old and worn-out bikes, which resulted in a flat tyre half way through our bike trip. We were unable to use the bikes for the bigger trip we had planned the next day. The manager was not helpful and it took lots of effort to get some of the issues resolved. The roof top sky bar has great views but was very dirty. The entire hotel needs a really good clean and tidy up. We would not recommend staying there at this time.

Just not good enough.

I e stayed at the King Fy before and although it hasn’t changed, it has deteriorated. The rooms are good and spacious, the cleanliness is excellent but the fittings are hanging off the walls and in some places missing. It’s just not good enough! The front of house manager is pleasant and efficient but he has a partner there who is sullen and unapproachable. This is something I’ve never seen with a Khmer. The breakfast buffet is ok, but the food is Luke warm when it should be hot. But, when the buffet is on seems to be entirely arbitrary. The alternative to the buffet is an a la carte offering consisting of a couple of Asian dishes which tasted fine and something called an “American Breakfast.” This comprised brittle pig shavings described as bacon, deep fried hot dogs, a table spoonful of baked beans and, eggs (both the omelet and fried eggs were very good) I had railed at first at the cultural imperialism of describing this set as an “American Breakfast “ but having experienced it, it’s probably about right. No English person would want to be associated with that travesty of a meal. Bizarrely, one of the worst aspects of the breakfast was the staff. They were inattentive, constantly either playing on their phones or giggling amongst themselves (often being led by the sullen manageress from reception.) There was one other person there whose sole purpose seemed to be to mince around the kitchen, alternatively leering, pouting or sneering at the guests. Quite a turn off.

Could have been better of a hotel

Catfish by the picture of the hotels. I really dislike the WiFi set up in this hotel. They change the password constantly. And that gets very annoying. WiFi rarely works from any floor. Very frustrating. Only good thing about this place is the breaksfast buffet. Staff are bland no happinesss to their work.

Stay somewhere else!

This hotel is advertising a lot that it doesn't have. Wifi is pretty much non existent, no shop on site as advertised, the space is just used to dump beds and mattresses. Breakfast food and service both poor. The room is meant to have a balcony. To get onto the balcony you have to climb out of the room, about 2ft. Very noisy area as water festival was on. The windows shook with the noise! Had to move out of this hotel. Phone didn't work, nothing good I can really say about it.

At the front of the hotel is lift with a glass wall that travels within another outer glass cylinder. Unfortunately this is all very difficult to clean and I suggest it would be better to blank out the internal wall rather than look through dirty glass, cob webs and spiders.

The shower should be contained within a glass wall, currently the shower curtain does not stop water going all over the floor.

Nice big rooms

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel is by the river and within walking distance to market and restaurants. The elevator faces out over the river and gives you a good view. Rooms were nice and spacious with flatscreen tv, fridge, aircon, wifi, comfy king size bed and 2 desks. Bathroom was a wet room and had hot water but not great pressure. We didn't eat breakfast here as it wasn't included in our package so can't comment on that. The place has a pool (cold) and pooltable and tabletennis. We would stay here again. The only bad thing is they start making noise early in the morning from about 6am, slamming doors and talking loudly I'm not sure if it's the cleaners but it always woke me up which was abit anoying, my husband didn't hear it though. Otherwise good hotel.

The hotel is in dire need of a refurb.
The rooms were dusty, and dank.
The furniture was of the oversized Cambodian style, which considering the deforestation issues, isn't appealing.
The sheets and towels had seen better days.
The AC was weak. The WiFi was inconsistent and required new passwords every day. Sometimes serval times a day.
The breakfast options were poor, with little available of what was on offer.
The staff are friendly and are happy to help.

Relaxing weekend away

We stayed 3 n and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hotel overlooks the river and town and 5 mins walk from hotel to shopping area. Rooftop bar was great for drinks and meals very good price. Cool breeze at night on rooftop.
Our room had a river view and small balcony. Nice hot showers with good water pressure. Need to pick up tea and coffee from reception as they don't leave it in the room with the kettle.

Strange Hotel

This is a strange hotel. It well past it's hey day but still comfortable . Rooms are ok. Bathroom ok too but shower covered in limescale. Wifi worked ok. The breakfast was made to order one day, then buffet the next. Neither was very good . The pool was disgusting.

Strangely. The stop serving food at the restaurant between 2 and 5 pm. In the evening we used the sky bar for dinner. There was lots of staff sitting around on their phones ignoring you and when you did get their attention they would get your order wrong . One time I finished telling the waiter what I wanted and he just walked away and didn't take my husbands order . It was the strangest thing. They also play loud music and rarely let an entire song play. It's like a child playing DJ in their bedroom. Very strange place.

Staff were friendly enough and helpful. However the hotel was very noisy especially in the mornings when the cleaners were in the hall ways shouting.
It was clean and tidy but I wouldn't rush back. I think it was slightly over priced for what you got.

Hotel is on the opposite side of the main town, however it is not that far to walk over the river via the bridges.
Hotel management and staff all spoke English well which was good for us.
Breakfast was fine, the staff at the egg station sat on the floor most of the time making it difficult to see them!
The drapes in our room had perished and needed to be replaced, the sky bar was excellent for the view of the fireworks over the new year period nothing else wrong hotel would recommend to others.

Got free pickup by tuk tuk which was great after10 hour boat trip from battambang.hotel staff were OK at reception.rude in breakfast bar.rooms were tired looking but large and clean.there was probably tour group in at the time I was there because I was woken up by group returning late and leaving early.someone had left dinner tray out the night before and it was there most of the next day which i found off putting.food was rubbish.you are better off crossing bridge.there r restaurants and night market on other sideside
Location was brilliant.
Staff booked me minivan to Phnom Penh. Nightmare.found out late there were better and cheaper options

The hotel is good value the staff and management were all very welcoming. Breakfast was good but not hot even very early. The tuk tuk drivers that patrol the for court were all knowledgable and reasonably priced. There are some great sun sets to be seen in this area as well as workers cutting rice and tending other crops. We did a tour of the country and many questions being answered like the pattern on the bottom of the rice paper sheets, local fish sauce and local banana chip making and drying. Many killing field sights exist in the area they are very sobering when you here the history from those that were involved.

Rooms were nice and the meals at the hotel, both the breakfast and food in restaurant was good. Hotel sent a tuk tuk to the bus station to pick me up when I arrived from Siem Reap. The tuk tuk driver associated with the hotel is excellent and is a very good guy. I know some people complained about the food for breakfast but there are lots of choices and I'm sure you can find something you like. The internet was a tad bit slow but workable. The employees were very nice. The hotel is a short walk to town across a bridge, maybe a couple minutes. Hotel also has elevators if your on the top floor.

Distinctly average hotel

The hotel is very average, with the price being the only plus point. Having stayed at some excellent hotels in Cambodia with similar priced rooms this is below par. There was also building works at the hotel throughout the weekend which were very loud in our room, it would have been nice to have been told about this before hand. Overall I can't recommend the King Fy, and unless there's no vacancies elsewhere don't bother.

Can't really complain and can't really say it was amazing. The tuktuk driver associated with the hotel is a bit pricey so it is better to ask one of the other drivers waiting outside. Breakfast is mostly Asian, and we did find a caterpillar in our vegetables and also a hair. The staff are lovely, keen to learn English so ask a lot of questions.

A throw back in time with wooden floorboards in the room, but this was part of it's charm along with the 7th story skybar looking back over Battambong. The staff were all so polite, friendly and helpfull. Excellent value for money, including safe in the room.

Good place to stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at King Fy. My daughter loved the pool. Some good honest tuk tuk drivers outside hotel to show us Wat Banon and Wat Ek Phnom. Room was very nice for the price. Good views from newly opened Sky Bar.

Comfortable stay

I had a comfortable stay here. The bed was comfy and the hotel location was very strategic -close to the restaurants. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the water heater. I had to wait about 10 minutes for the water to heat up. It didn't really bother me but I know many people who wouldn't like to wait that long before they get to take a hot shower (not recommended if you are in a rush to go out). Breakfast was good and hotel staffs were very friendly.

Great value for money

Have stayed here several times while in Battambang. The hotel is just across the river from the market, about a five minute walk. The rooms are large and comfortable, with adequate work space, and each has a private balcony. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and the cost is very reasonable - my favorite in Battambang.

We 4 adults stayed in the large well-appointed 2-bedroom family suite for 4 nights in Feb. 2014. Varied buffet breakfast of Asian and western foods included in rate. Beds were comfortable with quality bedding. 2 Large bathrooms, lots of hot water, fluffy towels. Swimming pool clean but not particularly appealing location in the basement...felt like swimming in a large garage. Hotel location was walking distance to town, with readily arranged tuk tuk service to anywhere in Battambang area. Very noisy, due to karaoke and bars; you will need earplugs if you want to get any sleep before 11pm.

Was okay as far as cambodian standards are concerned, but I'm sure you could find some where just as good for a substantially cheaper price. The breakfast was very average. Electrical circuitry hanging out of the wall, and house keeping only appear to come if you ask directly. They also lost some of my clothing in the laundry.

King Fy Good value.

Good value, reasonable location. Reception staff helpful and nice. Room was a bit dark and sitting on the balcony over the river great in the morning, but at dusk you get bitten to death. Disappointing that the bar on the 7th floor no longer there and the Coriander restaurant very soulless. Poor breakfast, but friendly staff. Very pleased that the hotel sent a tuk tuk man to collect us from the bus station. Nice touch. Overall, excellent value

We changed our plans so we could visit Battambong. Really pleased we did, the hotel was great, just what we needed after six hours on a boat from Siem Reap.

The hotel building is beautiful....teak and marble. The staff very friendly. The only negative was the restaurant and staff there. The restaurant on the third level, outside and covered....all which is fine. However there was no décor at all. They have the tables set up and a single table at the front where the staff had a cook station and nothing else. It had a temporary look to it....bare and unwelcoming. Just inside this patio area was a space with a small bar in one corner and where they set up a small buffet in the opposite corner. Again, the buffet and bar looked disconnected and the space unwelcoming.
The buffet both mornings consisted of potatoes and sausage and crusty rolls. Both mornings we were there by 7 and the only guests there and there was only one sausage left and just a few potatoes.....and they were not very hot. Inside the staff was ready to cook us an omelet and that was good and hot. The coffee they served was instant coffee and only luke warm.
There were six or seven staff people milling around the dining area and the kitchen area. They helped themselves to food multiple times and even drinks from the bar and ate it while standing up and chatted with one another. That all gave a very unprofessional appearance. I would think the staff could eat their breakfast in the kitchen and have one or two in the dining room able to refill our coffee or take care of the guests needs.

We stayed for 3 nights and could not complain about the service or the hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfasts were very good offering a range of asian and western dishes. We had a suite, which was large, and although the room was very clean, the balcony was a bit dirty. This was cleaned on our second day. The hotel pool is located undercover on the ground floor. The hotel itself is located across the river from the town centre, a short 5 - 10 minute stroll away. We felt very safe walking at night to and from the hotel at night and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something above standard.

Trying very hard!

Our stay at the King Fy was very pleasant. My family of four had the family room on the top floor with two bedrooms and a linking living room with a kitchen of sorts (not functional and no kitchen appliances or utensils except a coffee maker - so don't expect to make anything). Food is cheap in Battambang anyway and there are lots of good restaurants! The pool in the hotel is very nice and the breakfasts hot and good. They need to work on suppers. The highlight of our stay was the hotel endorsed driver, Or, who took us everywhere and became like a member of the family after the week. He was more protective of our kids than we were. He arranged our itinerary everyday and we saw more than the average visitor because of him, I am sure. Hotel - three star. Or, the Tuk Tuk driver - five star!

Breakfast was limited but the staff serving food were excellent. I hate to complain but the coffee was terrible, (even worse than some US hotels) and way too strong for most people. Instant coffee would have been preferable.
Very good value for money and within walking distance of the town (across the river). Little in the way of tourist restaurants and you will need to cross the river to find some limited options.

Great hotel in Battambang

Staff were friendly and so helpful, nothing was a problem. Were made to feel very welcome. They helped us arrange transport and tours and gave honest and useful tips. Had amazing room with balcony overlooking the river. Perfect for sunsets and somewhere to relax outside.
Room was very clean and superb shower
Only negative, and being picky here, is some of the towels were marked from use even though they were fresh and clean.
Great location across the river from main town (5 mins walk )so quieter than other hotels in area.
Would highly recommend this hotel for a not to be missed stay in Battambang.

Very happy with this hotel overall.

We had a king family suite. It had 2 large bedrooms with large comfortable beds. a central area, kitchen with hob and fridge, 2 bathrooms with showers. The Expedia description had said 1 bathroom with deep bath. We weren't bothered by this difference. If you particularly wanted a bath you may need to specify.

The hotel staff were generally friendly and helpful, with Limited English.

Breakfast was OK, adequate, not special, but they do make fresh eggs to order and the staff in the breakfast room are very good. Endless tea and coffee if you so want.

Wifi was very good. 7th floor terrace has good views over the area, and a nice breeze.

Negatives: over pushy hotel tuk tuk driver, PCs in reception not working (albeit they then let me use the PC behind reception), early morning noise from public address system.

Brand new, good service

A 1-year old hotel on the east bank of the river. You have to cross the river to get to downtown, but the hotel offers a free tuktuk ride (also a free pickup from the boat/bus stop) and downtown is a walking distance away anyway. It's on the quieter side of the of the river, but just next door there is a nice French style restaurant for better dining and the street behind them seems to be lined up with bars, though I'm not sure if one/some of them might be the girly bar variety... we didn't go in to find out, but what we heard was some good sounding live music playing! :-) The hotel itself is very quiet and the rooms pleasantly decorated with comfly beds.

Good option in Battambang

Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel gives you a fine view of the river and of Battambang city, especially from the King suite. This suite has an extraordinary carved wooden bed. The open restaurant is located nicely on the cool northern side of the hotel. Breakfast should improve.
