We stayed one night, great little hotel, nice size room with bathroom (bath & shower). Staff are lovely and friendly, great customer service. We had dinner in the hotel, food was delicious. Plenty parking on site. Very close to station too.

Traditional hotel with comfortable rooms, nice restaurant and great breakfast. Friendly staff make you feel welcome. Comfortable lounge and bar, ample parking outside. The hotel is a short walk to the station for anyone taking the really scenic train trips to Oban and Fort William.

Staff was nice, surface areas were clean but a lot of dust, mould and gunk buildup in the corners of the bathroom and on the curtains. Carpet in the room was really old and stained. Shower was ancient and hard to moderate the temperature but bonus points that it was hot. The place desperately needs an update or at the very least, a deep cleaning. It’s labelled as a 3 star but presents more like a 2 star.

Staff and service were all excellent! They really welcomed us and our dog and couldn’t do enough for us. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was in a poor condition and was tiny! Really only suitable for 1 person l, not 2 plus a dog. Room very dated and not particularly clean and was nothing like the pictures on the website.
This really was our only gripe but meant that we did not sleep well enough. Otherwise the parking, food, area all great.

This was an overnight stop from the Isle of Skye to the ferry at Cairnryan. No doubt the hotel is somewhat dated but what it made up for it with its great staff and lovely food (great pizzas for dinner and the full Scotch breakfast was perfect). Very dog friendly and has a few charging points for EV's. Nothing much else to do in Crainlarich unless you are going hiking. Would ahve no hesitation staying here again.

Clean and available.

We got allocated a room backing onto the railway line overlooking the kitchens. Room a good size. 2 chairs and a small table. Iron and board. Newly fitted bathroom with shower. Dining area cold - no radiators and only one log burner on.

Cooked breakfast excellent. Poor choice of fruit - no choice really beyond a meagre fruit salad. No yoghurt or cakes etc. Poor quality bread. However a comfortable choice for one night.

Room was a nice size, wonderful view, comfortable chairs to look out the window to look at the view. Great selection for breakfast ranging from light fare to full cooked breakfast. Ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious and the presentation great.
Would certainly book again if I was visiting the area again

Old shabby hotel. Staff lovely couldn’t do enough.breakfast good. The electric charge points may not work. The hotel is very old run down and grubby. The rooms very small and smelt of urine. The bathroom very small dated and the door was almost like a cupboard! The whole place is passable if you had you to chose between sleeping in a tent or indoors however for £140 pound a night absolutely no way. Over priced old smelly bed sheets had stained on and holes!!!

The room had no air conditioning so was rather warm for sleeping. The view was poor, overlooking an embankment and flat roof.

The evening dinner was very good and exceeded expectations.

However, the breakfast was chaotic, despite having to specify a time the evening before. The cooked element took an age to be ordered and then cooked with staff not knowing what had been ordered by whom.

The staff at the hotel were so friendly and welcoming to my dog.

Although the decor in the room is older and basic the standard of cleanliness was impressive and made me so comfortable.

It’s such a shame the current economic climate seems to have caused the hotel to close during lunch time as the bar is so pleasant it would have been lovely to stay for a little while.

I’d recommend the hotel to anyone and will definitely return. To stress, the friendliness and cleanliness are so impressive!

Civilisation in a rural setting

This was a very nice overnight stay. The room was very small with the bathroom in a cupboard, but it all worked. The staff were very pleasant. Parking was across the road, but you could use the space in front of the hotel to unload and repack the car. The meals were good.

The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. Our thermostat was reading ‘error’ but there was a fan provided.
The restaurant food was good with a large selection. There seemed to be a bit of tension between the serving staff with a bell going off over and over again (from the kitchen?). But our waitress who was there for dinner and then again for breakfast was very friendly.
Great base for exploring the beautiful area.

Useful stop over place on way home from the western isles.
It's a nice hotel but there were clearly staff shortages within the restaurant. We had to wait quite a while to get a table for an evening meal at arrival despite being told we didn't need to book ahead and then had to wait a really long time for our food to arrive. The staff were clearly doing their best but perhaps the offer of a free drink or discount would have been good to acknowledge things were pretty bad.
And don't go near the kippers at breakfast, they were actually inedible.

Coupled with that the room was extremely hot but we didnt want to leave the window open due to the road noise. The food in the hotel was not what you would expect for the price.

Nice hotel but road noise

This was a nice hotel and we had a large comfortable room but it was quite noisy. We had a room at the front and we could hear traffic noise all night. We could also hear the people in the next rooms moving about. When we were first in the room there was a strange noise which turned out to be a heater pipe vibrating. The receptionist did what she could to minimise that noise and it helped a lot.

Food in the restaurant was good.

This is in a good location. Maybe ask for a room at the back.

I liked the building. It had a very pleasant dining area, functional breakfast area and (get this) a book/sitting (no TV) room. Brilliant.
Even the TV/Sport/sitting area had leather settees. Oh did I forget the bar room?! The place suited our needs exactly with parking etc gave us no problems at all.

We loved this dog friendly hotel with the West Highland Way on its doorstep. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Service and food was excellent. The only criticism: as we had to eat in bar and lounge area only with our dog there are very few tables for dinner! We decided to eat in the hotel on our arrival day and when we came down to the bar the only 4 tables were all occupied even by people not dining! There was 1 table in the lounge which a party of people waiting on a takeaway had occupied! Surely this could have been reserved for hotel guests! Eventually a very helpful waitress reserved it for us and we didnt have too long to wait!

An unexpected gem of a hotel

This hotel was a real find. My wife likes 4 star hotels and this one was only three stats. The hotel has a lot of charm, a lot of lounge space, a good restaurant, and bar. This hotel was a better than expected experience, particular after driving narrow British roads in the rain. The staff was friendly and most things were well taken care. The breakfast was great too

Lovely breakfast in the conservatory in beautiful sunshine, great selection of juices/pastries and breakfast cooked to order, which we prefer. We booked this last minute and got an excellent rate as a sale price. We were allocated a disabled room, which was fine as we were only there for 1 night. Check in good, and the evening menu looked good, but we ate at a pub along the road as I had been there before. The only issue we had was we could not get sound on the one channel we particularly wanted to watch but that was only a minor quibble. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay, a one-night stop while we were travelling north. The hotel was comfortable, a nice room and very quiet. We particularly liked the dining room, and enjoyed a lovely dinner. The facilities were everything we could want, except for parking, which was across the road from the hotel and so rather a long way to carry our stuff (we are pensioners so found this hard work). The hotel has limited parking outside the entrance, but these spaces were permanently full. Just a suggestion, - if there were some spaces limited to 20 minutes they could be used for loading/unloading, and this would make arrivals and departures a lot easier for guests.
