It is a reasonable hotel, however very small, location is ok but again trains to and from naples run every half an hour and it is a 25 min journey. It is 40 mins to pompeii and over an hour to sorrento.
The hotel is a good 10 min walk from station
The staff are good and the breakfast good albeit continental only

The hotel is very close to the Herculaneum ruins and in between two train stations. The breakfast was simple, but perfect for our needs. The staff here was amazing, they helped us find a bus to Vesuvio, let us store our bags, and helped us get our luggage up and down the stairs with the maintenance elevator. The little sitting area outside is very cute.

We enjoyed our stay at Ruins BnB. It was the perfect spot to unwind for two days and see Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii. Nice free breakfast, and very cute common area.

The area was quiet. Not much to do in the evening, but it was perfect for two nights.

The room was adequate for our requirements; the staff were helpful; the room was cleaned and towels relaced daily (thank you). The only issues were that the hot water was very hit and miss; the bed was awful (you heard everyone in the place if they turned over during the night); you could hear conversations from other rooms quite clearly (I must mention that I'm partially deaf).
However, I did not choose for and pay for luxury, I chose for proximity to Herculaneum and public transport links and for this, it was perfect.

It is in a great location opposite Herculaneum ruins and at the bottom of the high street with lots of restaurants and shops and only 15 minutes walk to a volcanic beach. Pompeii also Naples accessible by train just watch train times stopping at Herculaneum as they’re infrequent. Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English. The roof terrace was lovely and relaxing. Breakfast was simple but sufficient (would have liked some fruit.) The room was spotlessly clean - there are electric shutters which we didn’t find till the last day! Air con and excellent Wi-Fi throughout.

Literally across the street from archway entrance to Herculaneum (not ticket office- if taking taxi make sure they know otherwise they drop you at ticket office). Entrance to B&B is same as Hotel Herculaneum so a little confusing the first time. Very walkable to Vesuvius tour, train to Naples & Pompeii, and restaurants. Staff extremely helpful and rooms are very clean. Would stay here again

A fantastic little hotel. Perfect location to explore the sights around the coast (train). Ercolano itself very small, quiet, and Italian.
Hotel very clean and relatively spacious room for three adults too.
Staff willing to support with anything asked.

Comfortable place to stay for Pompei

It was easy to access from the local train from Naples and a 6 block walk. Ercolano is a nice little town and right across the street from an entrance to the Heracleum. The breakfast had a lot of choices. The train runs from there to Pompei as well as to Naples.

Beautiful terrace. Perfect location to visit the ruins at Herculaneum. There isn’t much else to do in town so go to the ruins and book with this hotel

We had a lovely stay at the Ruins B&B in Ercolano over New Year. The property has been beautifully decorated and our room was very comfortable. The breakfast is delightful with enough to choose from for a continental breakfast. You can also enjoy a sea view from a few of the tables. The staff are very accommodating especially when speaking English as we don't speak any Italian. We hired a car and they do offer secure parking which cost £10 per day. The parking is not outside the B&B however, they do have a porter that will drive you to the parking if you don't want to walk.

This was a good hotel for the one night we stayed. Super well located across from the ruins in Ercolando and close to Pompeii. The safe was detached from the wall so was of no use. Staff were very kind. Buffet breakfast was ok but it was in a nice room with very nice views! The only downside was that parking, both paid and free, was far from hotel.

There were about five smiling helpful people at reception at different times. They were helping in getting taxis, organizing our tours and don't forget to get your green travel card to save on sites. Lucia, Giovanna, Carmela and several others served a wonderful buffet breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, etc. Italians and most tourists were smoking on the terrace where people dined but they made an exception and we dined in the breakfast room whereby we had a fabulous view of Scavi Ercolano and of course of the sea.

It was a comfortable 2 night stay for us, and at a convenient location. We wanted to be close to Herculaneum for a tour on the first day , and the next we walked to the train station and went to Pompeii. We also had pre-arranged through the hotel for a taxi to pick us up at the Napoli airport on arrival which made it convenient for us. Overall it was a very pleasant stay.

We had a great stay at The Ruins. The location as a tourist was excellent being right opposite the entrance to Herculaneum and only a leisurely ten minute stroll up to the train station that took us to Pompeii and then on to Sorrento. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. The patio served drinks and basic meals in the evening if you wish and the dining room served a varied breakfast with a great view over the bay. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Clean, clean, clean. Even the hallways smell so clean, it is heavenly. Lorena at the front desk is so helpful and friendly. The staff at the breakfast area are so attentive and made sure we have everything we need. This is a good place to stay if you are planning a visit to Herculaneum. There are stores and restaurants around it and Herculaneum is just across the street.

The hotel, staff rooms, breakfast was great. Best orange juice we have ever had. The location of the place is rough. Parking even rougher. We had to park in a garage about 6 minutes away by driving. We had to walk back to the hotel. So glad my son with with us. We walked through many alley ways, late at night. The area is rough and dirty.

All staff Nice friendly. Especially Anthony & breakfast staff who was always very helpful at all times morning & night. We had a good experience staying with them. Lovely roof top seating area , but The food (main meals ) at the ruins we felt were just heated up and not freshly cooked and could of been slightly better but no badly priced, location good to everywhere but unfortunately the area was slightly run down and not much to do as things going on or eating out! It’s s shame the ruins wasn’t in a better location it would be fab as I don’t feel the place does it justice. Personally I wouldn’t stay in Ercolano again as you felt a bit unsafe at times! but really enjoyed the experience of Italy and would definitely visit Naples again.

Great reception. Easy access to Ercolano ruins (across the street). Easy 10 minute walk from Circumvesuvia train and to the Vesuvius shuttle bus. Great room with Italian tiled floors. Typical Italian firm bed. Quiet. Fully stocked minibar but lacks space for own cold storage. Nice bath - even has retractable drying line. Terrace restaurant is very inexpensive. Fast WiFi.

Perfect stay in Herculaneum

Ruins Hotel was magical. It's literally 25 steps to the entrance of the Herculaneum Ruins. The hotel staff, particularly Patricia, Luigi, and the chef, were exceptionally gracious and attentive. My room was sparkling clean and serene. The sunny breakfast room is lovely with big windows that overlook the site. Dinner is served on the 2nd floor-vine covered terrace, lit with twinkling lights. The food was excellent and plentiful. Luigi and Patricia were very helpful with local information.The hotel is in an old building (but with modern amenities to ensure comfort), with the particular charm and quirks that come with age, and an enchanting place to stay for a visit to the archaeological site. It's a 10 minute walk straight down the hill from the train station, and a short (but welcome) taxi ride up the hill to the station.

A great find

I stayed here with my family (5) for eight nights whilst we explored the Bay of Naples area. This hotel and their staff really made our holiday. Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed was firm and comfortable and the bathroom was modern and everything functioned as it should - a large and powerful shower. Breakfast (continental) was generous with freshly squeezed OJ, a good selection of twinning's teas and expresso / cappuccino on request. The girls serving breakfast were great (special thanks to Julia) and our children were spoilt and never left wanting. The reception team were simply fantastic - a special thanks to Luigi & Luca for all your help and advice. Everyone truly went above and beyond expectations. After staying eight nights, we felt as though we were leaving friends. You cannot go wrong staying here. We found them extremely family friendly. Secure offsite parking is available nearby (5 min walk) for an additional 10 euros per night - which we thought was worth the peace of mind.

Ruins was Great!

We had a great stay at the ruins B&B! The recent remodel was evident in the rooms. Our family of 4 were quite comfortable with two grown teens. The hotel was directly across from the ruins of Ercolano - and after seeing Pompeii is an absolute must!!! As our tour guide at Pompeii promised the ruins here are far better preserved and more accessible - though go to Pompeii first. We checked in at almost 1am which went fine. I think our only complaints were that the town itself is a bit limited in regards to nice dining and looks a bit rundown...our hope was for better views of Vesuvius from the hotel which is not directly visible as a larger building is in between. The hotel driver that we arranged through the hotel to pick us up was a concern. I didn't use him on the return trip and would suggest making alternate arrangements. He spoke no English, the vehicle was small and not well maintained and smelled like an ash tray.
A special nod though to the rest of the hotel staff. They were great! Fresh squeezed orange juice and local pastries offset the limited breakfast choices typical of most hotels we just stayed at on this trip. The staff was excellent while serving breakfast.
A final comment for handicapped guests- we were all young'ish and able to easily climb the single flight of stairs to the rooms. The lift they have is only big enough for luggage. I might not recommend this hotel for those needing better accessible features - at least without checking with them first.

We stayed for ease to visit Herculaneum and Vesuvius. The hotel itself is fine - clean with friendly staff and the facilities you would expect. And cheap. The Ercolano area is not great. If we were to do it again we'd would have gone straight to Sorrento and come to these sites on a day trip, easy enough by train (recommend the campania express rather than circumsuviana). That said, the hotel is perfectly located for both Herculaneum (literally across the road) and vesuivius trips (10 minute walk to station where the vesuivio express runs from).

Great facility...lowdown town. Impossible to drive

Only reason to go to Ercolano is archaeological ruins at Herculaneum. Well worth seeing. But nothing to the town except up close view of a real working Italian town, not a tourist destination at all. You may well not feel comfortable walking about town. Ruins B&B is a lovely place to stay, (right across street from entrance to ruins) impeccable staff, nice breakfasts and reasonably tasty dinners even (for great prices). Just getting to it is tough if travelling by car. Or can be. We followed Google Maps audio direction from Rome FCO airport which led us TOTALLY ASTRAY when leaving autostrade by Ercolana. Fun driving old rough and incredibly narrow cobbled streets thru vicinity of Ercolano but poor Google Maps was completely out of it's depth here. Completely lost for close to an hour! Saw later on map that there's a direct exit from autostrade to hotel so turn off audio instruction when making final approach. Be advised there is NO PARKING in vicinity of hotel. Pull off to side of road best you can, send someone in to notify of your arrival (driver stay in car). They will tell you to bring bags in and then driver will be led by a lead car to a parking garage down an alley a few minutes away. Really good, down home pizza a few blocks up IV Noviembre street by hotel called Luna Caprese. 5 Euro pizzas, good size, REALLY tasty as others have attested to. Simple place, salt of Earth waiter.

Nice Hotel Near Ruins

Found the location after some troubles with GPS with no parking near the front. The name is Herculaneum not Ruins B&B on building, but at the right address. Was in a new room that had all amenities except any English channels (that I could find) on TV. Front desk person, Patrizia was very helpful in getting me dinner after I was exhausted from traveling for a day and a half. She ordered, made a salad to go with it and then even delivered it to my room.

A great surprise of a hotel. Great service, cleanliness, etc. Plentiful breakfast each day. Friendly and helpful staff. Secure parking 5 minutes walk away for 10 euro per night. Opposite the Herculaneum ruins and handy for circumvesuviana trains but Ercolano off season hasn't got much else. Entrance and reception is same as Hotel Herculaneum.

Staff was very friendly and helpful.

We arrived at the hotel after a very unpleasant event during our travel through Italy. The staff helped us as much as they could and provided an overall nice service. The room was very clean and as seen in pictures. We travelled there with two children. The hotel is close to a few tourist attractions. The only downside is that the beach has black sand in that area.

Amazing service

Slightly hard to find because the name on the hotel is acutally Herculaneum hotel. We (boyfriend &I) stayed for 4 nights here. The hotel rooms were very clean and all updated. The beds were not that comfortable, unless you like very firm. Lol The walls are thin so when others are in the halls or the room next to yours you can hear them. But with the updated windows the outside noise is blocked out.
This is a budget hotel but the service from the front desk manager to the cleaner is 5 star!!! We would recommend this hotel to couples or solo travelers.

The best birthday ever

This is a real gem of a hotel. The staff are amazing and so helpful and made this birthday trip the best ever and one I will never forget.

Anything we needed we just had to ask. Our room was fantastic and extremely comfortable. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in room but we were abe to help ourselves from the breakfast room and take drinks back to our room and the coffee is the best ever. The breakfast is also the best continental we have ever had.

We had a really late flight home but no problem leaving our luggage at the hotel and we were able to use the hotel facilities until we left for the airport. Enrico the hotels driver is a real character and organised our airport runs and our wonderful trip to Pompei.

We are already planning our return trip next year and would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was really lovely. Immaculate and the friendliest of staff. They couldn't do
Enough for you. A very very good Italian breakfast.
A little friendly bar next door and a good pizza restaurant round the corner.
We visited Sorrento, Possitano and Capri all easy accessable from train station which was five minute walk away.
Very cheap train and bus travel.

Excellent hotel, opposite the Herculaneum Ruins

The Hotel was excellent. Anthony and Patricia at reception were helpful with all the questions we had about the tourist activities we had planned to do. The breakfast in the mornings was outstanding, the staff in the dinning area were very polite.

The room was very clean tidy.

They also offer a pick and drop off service to the surrounding train stations.

Spotlessly clean with the most welcoming friendly and helpful staff. It is in the most perfect location for a visit to Herculaneum. Don't be put off by the rather unsalubrious surroundings - once inside the hotel is a gem. Fantastic view from the breakfast room!

Extremely helpful.

The entrance to Herculaneum (Ercolano) is right across the street. The hotel owners and clerks are extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room has a magnificent view and our waiter was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very nice, but the food at dinner wasn't very good.

We stayed here for just a day. Great location right next to the Herculaneum ruins. Fantastic room in a great condition as it was pretty new. The service was excellent. It is family run business and the staff are very very nice and helpful. Highly recommended.

Ein sehr freundlicher Empfang und kompetente Aussagen des Mitarbeiters an der Rezeption. Das B&B liegt nach hinten raus, ist sauber und ruhig gelegen. Parkplatz war kein Problem (10€ pro Tag). Kurze Wege zur Bahn. Idealer Ausgangspunkt für Reisen nach Neapel, Pompeii, Sorrent. Das Herculaneum liegt vor der Tür. Sauberkeit im Raum perfekt, die Fugen in der Dusche mit dem üblichen Schimmel. Das Frühstück ist einfach aber ausreichend. Danke an das freundliche Team.

Das Personal an der Rezeption war äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war vollkommen ausreichend und das gesamte Hotel sehr sauber. Der Check-in sowie der Check-out verliefen reibungslos. Wenn man später fliegt, kann man die Koffer dort lassen und den Tag in Ruhe genießen. Ercolano liegt etwa 20 Minuten von Neapel entfernt, was sehr unkompliziert ist, da der Bahnhof nur 300 Meter entfernt ist und die Züge regelmäßig alle 30 Minuten fahren. Direkt gegenüber dem Hotel befindet sich das berühmte Herculaneum. Die Lage des Hotels ist ideal für Ausflüge: Der Vesuv ist in nur 25 Minuten mit dem Bus zu erreichen, Pompei ist etwa 20 Minuten entfernt. Sorrento und Positano sind in etwa 40 Minuten erreichbar, und Amalfi in etwa einer Stunde mit dem Bus. Alles in allem eine hervorragende Lage und ein fantastisches Hotel.Ich würde definitiv wieder buchen.
