Window sill and skirting had not been cleaned for months
Moved to a different room-
Spent at least 15 minutes getting the correct key from receptionist - eventually was given a master key since they could not get a key for the room
one light in bathroom not working
Smoke detector missing from roof
Receptionist was pleasant and helpful but requires training
Gentleman on duty told us the reason for the room not being cleaned was that the housekeeper was rushed to hospital the night before but that was not substantiated by other staff
Another member of staff said that the person cleaning the room had only been in post for a month so he was bound to make mistakes!
The gentleman also questioned,infront of other people, why I had bar glasses in my bag - very embarrassing!
I explained that the girl behind the bar who was also the receptionist said to take the glasses with me up to the bedroom

\Do yourself a favour and do not book a stay in this place. The outside is grubby, and the inside has a lot to be desired. The room allocated was dark, with only tiny window to the hallway! The bed sheets were clearly not fresh, and not changed after the previous guest, the carpet dirty, and the room smelled badly. The flush of the toilet didn't work. This was the first time in my life when I checked out before even sleeping there.

Arrived and waited a long time for reception - attitude was less than friendly - very abrupt. Hallways to room smelled musty. Room was like an oven and windows didn’t open. It did have fan but very noisy and unable to sleep with it on. Decor very tired and skirting boards dirty. Asked if possible for earlier breakfast, abruptly dismissed

Tired Old Hotel

This is an old tired hotel. Although the staff was pleasant to deal with, the hotel did not meet our expectations. The \"chef\" was out sick during our entire stay (3 days) so we could not eat at the hotel, or get breakfast there. Not that big of a deal since there are other options close by, but still disappointing. We were in a room where the shower drain was clogged, and seeing how short staffed they were, we just unclogged the shower drain ourselves (yes I had tools with me on holiday). Since we have stayed at this hotel in the past and enjoyed it, we figured we'd give it another go. But frankly I would suggest you look for other accommodation if you are staying in Banchory.

Give it a chance.

After booking and paying found some scary reviews but we didn’t experience any of them. B/fast value £12 each, couldn’t finish mine, good coffee. Bar service good, busy outside seating area. Some noise o/n but to be expected as we were overlooking the High street. Could do with a little attention to detail in room, paper peeling from ceiling, curtains off track in few places.

I booked 3 rooms for attending my son’s wedding. The hotel contacted us 5 days before check in and ask us to cancel the rooms due to over booking. One of my son cancelled and moved to another hotel. I did not. The hotel then cancelled my room 2 days before check in and then said to Hotel.com that I cancelled the room! I had no choice but booked a room elsewhere but cost me a lot of more due to last minute booking.The hotel is not honest. Will not stay again in future

We stayed here to enable us to go to family gathering close by. We found the Burnett great value for money and were very pleasantly surprised with our room. It was very spacious, very clean and more modern than expected in an older building. The bathroom was just as nice as those I’ve seen in much more expensive hotels.

We met family and had drinks in the bar which is also very nice. While we did not eat here the plates of food we saw looked tasty.

The staff were all very friendly and efficient.

Banchory is lovely and has a few nice restaurant options nearby. This hotel has nice staff but needs some work. The bed clearly hadnt been changed, there was mould on the walls and there was no iron in the room deapiate asking for one. The shower was freezing cold for a solid 5 minutes as well.

The Burnett Arms Hotel is very friendly and our room had a new bathroom, very well equipped for older people with mobility problems. There is an extensive menu for snacks or dinner in the bar, a range of good whiskies and the breakfast was excellent.
The only little snag was that the fishcake was cold... but the staff quickly put that right, with apologies.

Nice room. Comfortable and clean. Good condition despite lingering smell of smoke everywhere from catering staff sitting outside in the car park smoking. Not a great (or hygienic) first impression.

Do not recommend eating here.Disappointing and pricey. Had two bland and poorly presented meals. Dry overcooked scampi and chips presented alone on plate without peas - had to ask waiter for them as they were included (£14) and a steak pie which was really a plate of grey stew with lots of ( frozen? tinned?) carrots and a circle of pastry on top (£17) We enjoyed an overall pleasant stay in this nice inn, but in my opinion don’t bother with their food

We were very disappointed to learn when we arrived at the hotel that they didn’t have our booking. I booked it through your site in January and I received two emails confirming our booking !!! We were there for a wedding and were very lucky to get another hotel at short notice but it was much more expensive so we weren’t too happy. Again we are very disappointed with your website and the handling of our booking 😢

I enjoyed my stay at the Burnett Arms Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I ate dinner there twice and enjoyed my meals. Being in the heart of the High St it was simple to walk around the variety of local shops. The bus stop into Aberdeen is also very close by, so an enjoyable bus ride into the city to explore.

Hotel is a shadow of past times. Needs updating. Bed was clean. Bathroom functional. Two tv controls none of which operated the tv- handyman sourced the correct one. Dining room not in use, breakfast was served in reception area on tables too small for the purpose.The handyman also worked as receptionist, waiter and cooked and served the breakfast. The scrambled eggs were unusual- ? made with powdered eggs. Morale of the bar staff appeared low as they were having a conversation with a previous employee. The AA 2 star rating does not reflect the true picture- needs reviewing.

No front of house to check in or check out. Never received requested hair dryer or coat hangers but the 2 dead light bulbs on arrival were eventually changed. Rooms were not serviced at all on at least 2 days and no one to complain to. The bar / restaurant staff were the only ones that did provide a reasonable service. If not for them the rating would have been terrible.

Fantastic liaison between one of my friends and the manager when I was caught out in a poor comms area. The manager sent a 'rescue taxi' and great thanks are due him and Ivor (the taxi driver). Check in was slow since the manager was working the restaurant as well, so we had to wait 15 min. But he was very helpful with luggage since there are several stairs and no lift. The property is old but clean. Some of the lighting did not work well. Room was warm for sleeping but there was a small fan that helped a bit. We got an early start in the morning 630 and the reception area was not staffed. We were not able to get out to the parking lot with luggage so had to move all luggage to the front & go out that entry. Someone did show up around 7 & she was helpful with luggage. I would have thought that if breakfast was served @ 715 someone would have been in the reception area before that. All in all, it was average at best. Staff was kind!

On our arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming & we were soon settled into our rooms. The rooms were very comfortable & well serviced daily by a lovely & friendly member of staff. Rooms facing the front of the hotel do tend to experience noise from local buses which stop & wait right outside - from 5.15 onwards. Last bus seems to be around Midnight. Not a big problem for us & we soon became accustomed to the traffic noise. Banchory is still fairly vibrant with some lovely shops, restaurants & bars nearby. Bar & restaurant prices in the hotel are similar to others, coffee served in reception at any time. The hotel has a good Wi-fi service which pleased the boys.

A very pleasant stay overall

We found the location really easily and it was very central in town. Check-in was quick without hassle and we were assisted up to our room with our suitcases. We had a corner room which was spacious, clean and warm with comfortable beds and linen, wall heating and bay windows with views over the street. The bathroom was also spacious with a shower over the bath. We dined downstairs in the hotel and had breakfast the following morning - both times the food was delicious. Parking was available out the front.

Stayed here for one night with my son while visiting for the Banchory beer festival.
We were given early access to our room & decided to have lunch there before heading out. The food was great & the service excellent.
Comfortable twin room, good breakfast & quick check out.
All round good value for your money, considering the area.

Would certainly stay here again if we are back in Bachory.
