Hotel in lovely settings and outdoor gardens. Plenty parking no problems. Hotel was clean unfortunately it’s run down in areas chipped paint wallpaper ripped. Room was a good size and clean. Restaurant was nice and good menu. Breakfast was really nice. All staff friendly and helpful.

We had a very large room, with a huge bed (Rm1) The room had everything you needed, it was very spacious, but it did get uncomfortably warm. There are 3 large windows you can open, plus a fan in the wardrobe, we couldn’t sleep without leaving 2 windows open. The outside & grounds are really nice but the inside could do with some TLC, cracks in the walls, looses banisters, our room door shut with a very loud bang and no matter how hard you tried, it always slammed shut, not good for neighbouring rooms. Had breakfast & dinner here, food was good but coffee often only like warm. Plenty of parking.

Our recent stay at the Tor Na Coille Hotel was absolutely wonderful and exceeded all my expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by the friendly and attentive staff.

The hotel itself is beautiful. We particularly loved the tastefully decorated restaurant. The lounge was also elegant and cosy—the perfect spot to relax with a drink . Our bedroom was great; clean, very quiet, and well-decorated.
It was equipped with everything we could possibly need, including a comfortable en-suite shower and toilet, a plethora of toiletries, and the added conveniences of an iron, ironing board, TV, and hairdryer.
The selection of coffee and teas and homemade shortbread in the room was a lovely touch .
We dined in the elegant restaurant and had a truly delicious dinner. The menu offered a great variety, and we were particularly impressed with the excellent vegan options for one of our party, which can often be an afterthought but were clearly well-prepared and flavorful and huge portions for us all .
Breakfast the next morning was just as impressive, with a fantastic full Scottish spread that again catered brilliantly to vegans .

The location is ideal, set within spacious, peaceful grounds that are lovely to wander around . It’s also incredibly convenient, just a short distance from the main street and the beautiful Falls of Feugh . An unexpected bonus was the large, modern gym next door that guests are free to use, which was a great facility. We'll be back!

Just back from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Tor-na-coille. We stayed in a deluxe room which was spacious and spotless. Loved all the original features of this beautiful building. The staff all very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help. Fresh fruit and delicious cooked breakfast every morning, we dined once in the evening which was superb and very good value, rounded off with a nightcap in front of the roaring fire in the lounge.
In a great location, only half a mile to Banchory and a five miles from Aboyne. Perfect for exploring Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park.
Thanks to all at the Tor-na-coille for your wonderful hospitality. Looking forward to our next visit!

We had a lovely stay at Tor Na Coille Hotel & Restaurant. The rooms were beautiful and very spacious, and the staff were welcoming. We dined in the restaurant and I had the steak burger with a side of pepper sauce — it was really tasty, and the chef was great at explaining how they could adapt other dishes for gluten-free too. The gluten-free options on the menu were excellent and made the meal stress-free.
Our evening meal was delicious, and the breakfast the next morning was equally great, with plenty of choice and flavour. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for comfortable rooms and a really good gluten-free dining experience!

The room was very clean, bed very comfortable. We arrived late due to the snow delaying us with blocked roads, and detours. The restaurant had closed, but they opened it up for us. The fish and chips were great. Great full Scottish breakfast set us up for the day.

I would definitely recommend the hotel and would stay again if up that way.

She also offered at request information about local sites of interest during our stay. Her memory is second to none, remembered our breakfast choice and how we liked it. Other staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself beautifully decorated and very clean and comfortable. The room and bed very comfortable, home from home. Cannot recommend enough.

Hotel was set in nice woodland grounds, near the centre of Banchory. Greeted warmly by the receptionist. The hotel itself is a Victorian aged house and, in places, it does show. Room was comfortable enough, if a bit on the warm side, even with the window open.
Restaurant menu was a bit over the top. Service was OK, was never really busy.
There was a wedding function on the 1st night of my stay which, on the 2nd floor, I didn't hear anything.

My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The location, nestled in its own tree filled garden, was relaxing and the hotel itself still retained the charm of the family home it was. We ate in the restaurant: the food was excellent, plenty of choice for two vegetarians like us, and the staff were very helpful. We also tried some cocktails which were also excellent. Our stay was relaxing, enjoyable and good value for money.

Stayed here for a business trip. Fantastic hotel, it is absolutely beautiful and the area is just gorgeous.
I came in late and the staff were so welcoming and kind and let me get up to bed and settle up the next morning. I had the Eggs Benedict which was delicious and again all the staff were lovely.
The only reason for the 4*on facilities is the room I was in was slightly dated but the new owners are in the middle of renovations. However the room was clean and the bed was super comfy.
All in all great stay and would 10/10 recommend :)

Lovely night away, room was on small side and was a bit tired but very clean. Nice toiletries and a jar of sweeties was a lovely touch on the tea tray. Comfortable bed and loved the lift, old fashioned but it worked, great to have in the Hotel. Breakfast was really good as was the lovely staff. Will go back.again as it has been decorated in most places and looks so lovely outside.

We were a bit worried when arriving with our 2 year old that it might not be child friendly as it was clearly a beautiful building, but the staff were absolutely lovely with her and very happy to provide what we needed. Lovely Stay.

Our room was really big with a huge bathroom. Thick curtains, cosy duvet, warm fluffy towels and plush loo paper. What more could anyone want?? Restaurant was nicely decorated. Food was great. My husband said it was the best steak he's ever had. They also sent out a dish with Happy Anniversary written on it with macaroons and strawberries. Such a lovely gesture.

Totally disappointed guest, never to return.

Nothing short of a Fawlty Towers. The hotel needs major money spent on it to bring it up to a decent standard. They are basically trying to operate on the cheap with many untrained staff, but at the same time charging prices on accommodation, food and drink at really high prices.
I have stayed in many hotels in my time and I would rank this one as one of the worst hotels that I have had the unpleasant experience to stay in. Don’t go near it.

An excellent welcome at reception on arrival, beautiful building. Our room was spacious and at the top front of the building so had a lovely view. Yes, the paintwork is in need of a freshen up in some areas but couldnt fault the cleanliness. The staff were very professional and helpful. The diining room, bar and lounge areas had been more recently decorated. Food was excellent but not cheap. The large garden was ideal to sit with a drink during the warm weather Location to town centre was great. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely boutique hotel

Just back from a wonderful weekend break at Tor Na Coille. Lovely large room, very comfortable. Everything was thought off, bathrobes, a good hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
I loved the decor in the public rooms. Very tastefully done.
The food was amazing we ending up having dinner here both nights. Breakfast was also great. Plenty choice and all cooked fresh to order.
All staff were very friendly and nothing was a bother. A special mention to the young bar man and the lovely receptionist. She went above an beyond.
We will definitely come back.

We didn’t eat in the evening,unfortunately one us was not very well,however witnessing how busy the restaurant in the evening was told its own story.
We did have breakfast which was very tasty and well presented by two very cheery and attending members of staff.
Check in was completed in less than two minutes

We will return to this excellent hotel.

We were in room four which was huge. Double shower,double sinks in the bathroom, a dressing area and a separate bedroom with sofa chair desk and coffee table. WiFi was good and Freeview TV included. Breakfast was a combination of continental and cooked. Restaurant menu featured some excellent dishes and fish in the various forms offered was a highlight (3 dishes per night) Sweets were delicious and every hot meal served on a hot plate. Nothing too much for staff who were friendly attentive and knowledgeable.
