The hotel was a huge disappointment! The photos for booking looked lovely…not so much in real life. The area is not really, enjoyably, walkable. The infinity pool looks directly at the power station 2 blocks away. So many other issues. Told the front desk the first night we wanted to leave, the cancellation policy is 50%…left the next morning. Don’t recommend for a vacation.

A good deal a bit away from the center.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Angelo's. The room we had was very large at the end of the hall so our balcony wrapped around the building. We stayed for seven nights and each day our room was cleaned and the bed made and two bottles of water were supplied each day. The breakfast was fairly simple and not much variety over the seven days, but the service was wonderful. The man who served us was polite and very efficient. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. The pool area was a nice place to relax. The only negative is that it is about a 20 minute walk to the beach area. The area around the hotel is a bit sketchy but the people are friendly. The hotel is a very good deal for the amount of money it charges.

2 hand towels, small shampoo and one soap in bathroom. No towels or facecloths, no glasses. We went to the front desk to request glasses and he said they were in the restaurant and it was locked. No blankets on the beds. Pools were dirty and scummy. No restaurant, no room service. Restaurant served breakfast then closed. No where nearby to get a meal or drink. Not safe to walk in area. No shuttles, no multilingual staff, no tour and ticket assistance. No 24 hour front desk. We called Expedia 2 times to help us get out of this nightmare and they tried phoning the front desk 2 times and no answer. They advertise all these things but in reality, it’s barren and NO SERVICES. Ghetto.

The reviews are accurate

I came on a family trip from southern California where we booked three rooms. We stayed here for 4 nights, and during those 4 nights, we had fantastic service.

Everyone that works here is kind and helpful. We did have issues with one of the room's AC and another room's TV. The room with the AC problem needed the remote reprogrammed and it started working fine afterward.

The other room had no TV/Cable service but was not much of an issue since we were able to use their super WIFI speeds to stream Netflix/Disney. We also did not bother to have them investigate it.

I noticed there are more locals that come here but that made no difference in our stay.

Breakfast was decent, nobody had any complaints. The pool pictures are filtered so they appear nicer than what they really look like. However, it is a hotel and not a resort.

The water pressure was strong, and the water could stay warm or cold depending on what your looking for. I've stayed at resorts, and this was an issue, but not here.

The location was perfect but the area it was in looked sketchy at first, however, we never felt unsafe.

Pros:

Breakfast was decent
Strong Water Pressure
Location (close to Xcaret Parks & shopping centers)

Cons:
Outdoor Parking
Could use a bigger indoor/downstairs pool (pool pictures are filtered)

I stayed here a night before and had problem with noise (I'm a light sleeper) but decided to chance it again because of the location that is convenient for me. However, this time it was even more noisy at night and very early morning with people walking and talking in the hallways. So I won't be staying here again. Other than that the hotel would be great: clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, good WiFi, free parking. The main pool is very nice and clean but too cold.

Liked the facility being so clean. It is a very simple hotel, but it has all you need. Area is ok, but has good restaurants close by. Also 5th avenue is close by and beach as well. Not to mention, Xcaret park only 12 minute drive. We would stay here again! Good for family.

Staff is very friendly, knowledgable about the area, and helpful! There is a restaurant but hardly anyone goes there, never saw staff in that area. However there is a Chedraui supermarket nearby (Av. 50 & calle 1 Sur) and several Oxxo convenience stores. There are several restaurants in the area and its about a 15 min walk via Benito Juarez av. to the tourist district on 5ta Avenida.

The room was big with a/c and ceiling fans, balcony, a safe in the room and lots of storage space. Shower and bathroom were really nice. There is an elevator and a pool.

I would definitely stay there again. If you look for peace and quiet away from the tourist area, it is the place to be. If your are looking for nightlife and action, then maybe not.

- AC and two big fans offer enough cool air
- smart TV in the room (Netflix worked!)
- big safe in the room

Cons:
- sketchy area (there was a lot of police activity in the last few days just feet away from the property)
- if you like to walk it's the hotel for you, if not then I would invest more money into a hotel closer to the beach /5th Avenue (around a 15-20 min walk)
- seems popular for bigger school groups (the walls are very thin and at night you could hear kids slamming doors or talking loudly)
- wifi doesn't work in all rooms
- right next to a powerplant (view from the rooftop pool is not the best)

Excellent hotel. I dis stay twice at this hotel during my vacations. The triple room i took the first time didn’t have a hair dryer, the double room i took the second time had the hair dryer but it was damaged...
The location is very convenient if you want to take the ferry ti Cozumel (about 30 min walk or less). Very close to the fifth avenue. Close to restaurants.

The hotel is very niceand clean. I would reccomend to add a hair drier in the bathroom. The swimming pool at the terrace is very nice. The place is quite and walking distance (about 25min) to the peer where you canntake the ferry to Cozumel is you’re planning to go.
People who work at the hotel is very friendly.
A place to definitely go back.

Staff was very nice and accommodating! Would recommend this hotel for sure. It was in a further away area from the tourist areas but that made it nice and quiet. The rooftop pool is awesome! And they even have another pool just off the lobby for easier access. We had a room with 4 beds so could easy have 4+ singles or a family, also had 2 bathrooms! We were very impressed. Pictures on line look great. But when you arrive its obvious they were taken a while ago. The walls are very very thin as are the doors to the room. One of the most disturbing things was when we went to check out all of the lights in the halls and common areas were off. Not safe and very creepy.

My only complaints are not with the hotel, but the location. It’s close to a freeway so the traffic is SO LOUD!! And I’m not crazy about the electrical transformers and switching station the hotel is next to! Still worth it overall.

Had the best time ever in Playa Del Carmen!

For starters, Hotel Angelo’s was super clean newly renovated with a great staff! Nora the cleaning lady was so sweet and left two bottles of water for my boyfriend and I after every daily cleaning. The front desk gentlemen were very nice as well and even let us stay in our hotel 4 Hours after check out since we had a very late flight. The hotel’s location is perfect, in an area with some locals but still only a $50 peso ($3 U.S, 5 min.) cab ride away from 5th ave (tourist area) and beaches. The hotel also has a beautiful rooftop pool that stayed clean through our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel, 5 stars !

Angelo's and expedia fail business 101...

I never visited this hotel.
I was looking for a night's lodging in Ft. Lauderdale and somehow Expedia's system booked this hotel in Mexico.
Within one hour I figured this out and called expedia to cancel and issue refund.
Hotel Angelo's refused to issue a refund.
Not good business for angelos, expedia nor me and you.

Playa on a budget!

The hotel was pretty nice actually, we found this little gem in the heart of an \"industrial\" sort of area. There was a lot of noise during the day but night wasn't bad. Bring ear plugs.
Hotel was clean and a nice walk from 5th Ave Shopping and the water front.
I would stay here again. Rooms were modern and looked recently renovated.
Hotel front desk clerk was awesome and very helpful as we showed up early and he stowed our
bags for us.
We stayed on the 2nd floor... as I said... little noisy.
You can expect a lot of kids running around the halls until bed time... it's a budget hotel so people
on a budget will be staying there.
All in all... we were pretty pleased.

Had a great stay at Angelo's Hotel, pillow's were flat, asked for more, only 1 was sent up for 4 people, but we dealt with it. kids enjoyed the pools. Wish the staff spoke a little bit of english, as my spanish is very broken. but we got by. Went to the restaurant in the morning before we left, asked for 2 coffee & 2 waters, was brought 1 coffee, 3 orange juices, and toast, however the fresh squeezed orange juice was amazing so we didn't mind. Thank you for a great stay.

Overall, this hotel was a great deal for the money. Extremely clean and I liked that the pool was never too packed with people. The water pressure in the shower was awesome, and so was the temp.There were a few things that we did feel would've made our experience a lot better, however. We needed glasses for pouring drinks, and plates and silverware for our takeout but the hotel wasn't able to help us with that. A small coffee machine in the room would've been really cool, too. You can get a cup downstairs for 15 pesos, but only when they're open during breakfast. Oh, the chilaquiles are really good btw -- not spicy. They did have a microwave in the lobby which came in handy when we wanted to reheat food and I guess technically you could heat yourself up some water and buy instant coffee. OH, but don't forget to bring your own cup, lol. There's a delivery service called Playita Express that'll deliver stuff from anywhere, and you should try Pizza Piedra if you like Napoli style pizza, it came in under 30 mins. The beach wasn't too far, maybe like 15 mins to get in to the heavily tourist area. You're gonna walk half of that walk in an intimidating neighborhood because it's where the locals live so it's not touristy at all but it's safe. If/when you take collectivos to Tulum or Cancun, have them drop you off at the stop by Office Depot and you'll be a couple mins from the hotel. Everythingplayadelcarmen.com has awesome advice for exploring the area easiest and also on a budget.

Plus: Excellent, super friendly service in a very, very clean hotel with huge rooms

Minus: Hard beds, no hot water, and no glassware at all, not even paper cups! Oh yeah, no ice either!

Overall: The low price makes this a great deal if you don’t mind the lack of comfort

Hotel is a 10-minute taxi ride (100-180 pesos, $6-10 USD) to the beach/5th Avenue area
