Our room was beautiful. The fireplace was electric but high quality. Loved sipping my coffee on the balcony, watching the sunrise, wrapped in a blanket at the end of October. Kayaks, s’mores, and jetted tub were also great. Fun having a choice of outdoor fireplaces & pits for a cozy evening cuddle. Breakfast was yummy and served where you wanted it (including in room). Only sad thing was the hot tub was not working when we visited.

Hidden gem in the Adirondacks.

The Fern Lodge was a delightful experience from start to finish. The host was so friendly and accommodating, and she made our anniversary special in many ways. The property had more accommodations than we had time to enjoy - made us wish we had booked more time at The Fern Lodge. I guess we’ll just have to return!

This property is a piece of art. The service, the view the staff are amazing and so kind and nice. They have variety of breakfast ideas and they have a special style in how they serve the food. Everything is clean the rooms the lobby. Beautiful place for relaxing and enjoy the nature.

Arrived at 7pm and left at 6am. I had no interaction from the Lodge. Although quiet and peaceful. I felt somewhat insecure, unablento have dinner. The next morning I grabbed a coffee around 6am. I saw no personnel thru my short 12 hours of stay and had no way or nowhere to dine or breakfast due to my arrival and departure time.

If I could give 50 stars i would. I had read the previous raving reviews and confirm...noone was exaggerating. This is a family run lodge with all the personal touches that only families can give. The pictures on the website don't do it justice because its the FEEL of the place and people working there that make this lodging experience so special. What u don't see on the site are small yet significant touches and I will name a few. The rooms are airy and calming. There are 5 rooms (i believe) with individual names. Me and my husband stayed in the cedar room. U can see that someone put their heart and sole into its decor, with high vaulted ceilings, small wood carved trinkets, a large screened in porch with fire pit, a fridge stocked with plastic water bottles, a huge steam shower and jacuzzi, bad sheets that were so comfortable that I actually went online and purchased a set for myself. I don't remember sleeping so soundly. The lodge sits on a pristine lake with kayaks and paddle boards provided. Everywhere u turn, there's another sitting area that faces the lake. Breakfast...amazing, prepared for according to your preferences. And downstairs, a game room with a bar for ordering drinks and even a large movie theatre with lazyboys. They even provide a microwave and popcorn bags...I could go on and on but simply said, I am so glad that I found this place. Hats off to the owners, innkeeper, cook and staff that gave us such a memorable summer holiday. Thank u fern lodge

Very unique and beautiful guest rooms. The balcony overlooking the lake was fantastic. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. Friendly and accommodating service with a delicious breakfast. We cannot wait to go back.

A special place

This place feels like a home, only 5 rooms in a private lake. Our room was huge and even had a fireplace. It is nestled in a beautiful forest, so plenty of places for hiking.

quiet retreat

a modern Adirondack lodge. relax next to the lake. live the life. in house theater, pool table, bar, and outdoor jacuzzi in the evenings, or curl up with a book in next to the fire. enjoy paddling on the lake or a nearby hike or other adventure during the day. it's off the beaten path, but close to lake George and other area destinations.

Can't Wait to Go Back

We were blown away by the setting! Back in the woods, with access to a lovely lake...the Fern Lodge offers multiple opportunities for rest, relaxation and recreation, and I am only sorry that we didn't stay there longer. We will be back!

Amazing experience!

We were there for Memorial Day weekend. What an absolute gem this place is! Absolutely gorgeous property and such friendly, welcoming staff. The pine room was amazing. The breakfast was delicious. The boat rides on Friends Lake - very serene and beautiful. The steam shower and Jacuzzi in the room were so great. There are many beautiful hikes in the area and plenty of things to do. However, you can also just relax on the property. There are fireplaces, hot tub under the stars, game room, movie theater, popcorn, coffee, great wine, etc. Spoil yourselves a little and rekindle the love between you. Thanks Susan for being an extremely helpful and knowledgeable host while Sharon and Greg were away. We look forward to coming back!

A perfect birthday

For my birthday, I wanted some time with family. This was a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Using the inkeepers recommendation, we took an exhilarating hike to the summit of nearby Crane Mountain, we kayaked and paddle boarded on Loon Lake, we relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed the many fireplaces in the lodge. Our room was clean and bathrooms were perfect. (The shower and bathtubs were exquisite!) We woke up to the sound of loons on the lake, which we could see from our room (Pine). Breakfast was delicious! Next time we will stay longer to explore the area and take advantage of the movie theater/game room downstairs.

Owner extremely unfriendly

We booked through Expedia and called as directed to let the Fern Lodge know that our family would be arriving about 9:30pm. The owner greeted us immediately annoyed by our late arrival and annoyed at the very site of our children. Our daughter, 17, joined us just for a ride, as she was visiting and staying with a friend nearby. Our son, 10, was uncomfortable with the situation and how we were spoken to. The setting is beautiful, however; the owner could not have made us feel more unwelcome. We are a quiet family, and were traveling the Adirondacks to both pick up our other son from camp and to spend time together as I heal from a major recent surgery. We were all sad by how our family was treated; and we were all unable to relax and enjoy the beauty of lake. If we were able to find accommodations closer to where we needed to be, we would have left.

My husband and I just left The Fern Lodge a few hours ago and miss it already. It was such a welcoming and relaxing place. Sharon made us feel right at home, from the delicious breakfast to the fire and glass of wine in the evening. The pictures you see on their website are exactly what you get when you get there. The setting is gorgeous, the hosts are gracious, the rooms are beautiful and Shadow (the dog) is a great guide. Thank you so much Sharon and Greg for making our anniversary so relaxing!

Beautiful setting, lake and lodge are relaxing. Sharon and Greg as innkeepers are relaxed, welcoming and gracious. They arranged a wonderful first night dinner for us at a nearby superb restaurant and an in room massage for two later in the week.

Serene escape

My husband and I stayed one night for our anniversary. We live right here in the Adirondacks but always enjoyed the Friends Lake Inn which Greg and Sharon previously owned. This was far superior! Unfortunately, the Taylors were away on a much deserved vacation. However, they left their Inn in wonderful hands. I wish I can remember the woman's name but she was fabulous! Sharon left a bottle of wine in our room with a lovely note for our anniversary. It was such a wonderful get-a-way even though it was only a few miles down the road from our home. I highly recommend the Fern Lodge and look forward to staying again in the future.
