We stayed at this hotel last year (2024) & were so impressed by the food and the services, especially from Mr Dominic Lai ( Food & Beverage Managet) that we decided to book this hotel again for our trip to Ipoh this year (2025). Unfortunately Mr Lai has left Cititel. We met Mr Albert Chong, the new Food & Beverage Manager. He & his staff ( Rafti & his friends ) were very friendly, attentive & looked after us really well, most importantly the food standard was the same as how we remembered it from the previous year. The buffet breakfast & dinner was the highlight of our trip in Malaysia, the brownie dessert is a must try. Congratulations to Albert & his team for maintaining the high quality & standard. We also like to thank Albert for his time & many enjoyable conversations. We highly recommended this hotel to anyone that wish to stay close to Ipoh Old Town & Ipoh Station. The hotel is very secure as they have a security guard & 24 hours reception at the ground floor. Your room key will only allow you to access your floor. Also, Ipoh New Town is only about 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel.

The hotel room is modern & reasonable size. The negative comment we want to make is that the walls in the room had blacks stains & we reported it to the reception staff on level 12 multiple times but we don't think they took us seriously.

A high quality hotel but unfortuantely when we requested for extra 2 pillows, we were given 2 pillows which has wrinkle pillow cases and smells awful. When we brought the pillows down to the receptionist, we were told to bring it back to our room and a dosmetic will bring us another pair of pillows. I think its unacceptable and felt that the receptionist should at least take the dirty pillows from me instead of asking me to bring the smelly pillows back to my room. Also not a word of apolgies from the receptionist.

Just a quick overnight stay at a budget hotel. Good value for your money. Clean and quiet inside with a convenient market on the ground floor. Did not walk around the area but looking out of the window of my room there appears to be a paved walking path along the Kinta River banks with a pedestrian bridge connecting both banks. Did not try the on-site restaurant. Parking is not on-site but shuttle is available to and from hotel.

Positively, the hotel is in a good, central location, about 15 mins walk from the railway station. The restaurant on the 12th floor has an absolutely stunning view, especially at sunset. I also appreciated the TV having a wide range of films available.

Staff availability wasn't great. When I arrived, there were three people at the desk on the ground floor, whose only job it seemed was to direct people to the reception on the 12th floor. At reception, there was one person and a queue of about five groups waiting to check in. Also, I had to knock on the kitchen door to locate any waiting staff in the restaurant after waiting for over 10 minutes.

My other frustration was that there was no bedlight, nor any electric socket near the bed.

They got nice view up on 12th floor which is also the check-in lobby. 7-11 is at the ground floor. When we book the room, it didn't quite match the description to the booking site. Extra 50rm to upgrade to a new renovate room. The entire hotel doesn't have a fridge in the rooms. Check-in wait time was bit slow, we waited for at least 30 mins, as there was 1 staff doing all the work. The line up was back up all the way to the elevator. Overall, it was alright for an overnight stay.

Convenient location, located just a short walk away from old town Ipoh and about 10-15 minutes walk from the Ipoh train station. Within the hotel lobby is a convenient store, and just next door is a historical restaurant pub. Further a little ways is the old town which hosts many eateries, cafes, shops, and tourist spots.

Hotel is newly refurbished, and the rooms are clean and tidy, modern looking, and cozy with a great view overlooking Ipoh city and the Kinta river. The sheets and pillows were spotless, the bathroom was clean and well stocked with basic toiletries, however, the room does not have a mini fridge.

Check-in and out was a breeze, and the staff and receptionist were incredibly courteous and friendly. All in all, a perfect hotel for a quick getaway in Ipoh with easy access, comfortable rooms, and perfect location.

The hotel has a new look (deceptive but appealing) and the breakfast is good with a polite helpful staff in the restaurant. Thing with this hotel that really rubbed me wrong was the reception staff and the check in and out process. I feel like I just checked in, stayed, and checked out of a government facility.

Functional hotel in the old town, feels a bit like a Holiday Inn (UK) which does the job but with no frills. Room was big and clean, shower was nice and powerful, TV in the room OK.

We had breakfast one morning which wasn’t included in our room rate, we were asked to accompany our server to the reception to pay the bill, felt a little bit of overkill given we could have just paid it on check out.

Staff generally very helpful though and the hotel was fine for a couple of nights, for a longer stay I would recommend somewhere a bit more comfortable.

The hotel is in a great location and our room has a beautiful view of the river. It was very quiet and comfortable. The lobby is connected to a 7-Eleven convenient store, which is very nice. The stuff members were all very friendly and professional. The newly opened breakfast dining hall on the 12th floor has a spectacular view of the city. We would be just as happy to sip our coffee and enjoy the beautiful view all morning long. The servers there were very sweet and they made sure that we were all well taken care of. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay there again.

Hotel has been refurbished so looks nice, chic, comfortable. The room closet was an open concept, interesting. The cafe floor was still being refurbished when we were there.
Staff and security guards were friendly. As the parking lots are limited, the hotel utilizes lifts to allow for 2 cars to occupy the same spot. The guards were helpful when we needed to park.
The high water pressure from the bath shower was the best!
Location is within walking distance of a variety of cafes, coffee shops, a food court, pubs and tourists attractions. A 7Eleven, which connected to the hotel lobby was convenient for a getting a quick drink or snack.
There was a wide selection of free movies so the tv was stuck to that channel.
A water cooler was available in the corridor. If you needed to boil water, there was a kettle in the room.

The hotel is much closer to the train station than it looks on the map. One can easily walk to the hotel from the train
station with no problem. We arrived in the dark and when it was raining hard and had to take the taxi to the hotel. In the morning when we walked round the area we found the hotel really close to shops and restaurants in the city. The only problem is the bus or long distance coach station is a long way off the city and almost half an hour's taxi ride. You want to catch the coach to Cameron Highlands beware of the distance of the coach terminal and the city and give yourself plenty of time.

As you enter the hotel lobby and the room, there is a very nice fragrance that the hotel uses. There is a 7-11 store that is next to the hotel - very convenient. Hotel Staff are friendly and efficient. Hotel's location is a short walk to the old town of Ipoh where there are many eateries and shops to buy traditional foods. Not much amenties available - eg no shampoo or conditioner given, no room slippers or laundry bag given. Housekeeping staff need to be trained - to ensure that the room is properly cleaned and made up, towels are removed and changed daily, toilet bowls are cleaned properly, I did provide feedback to the reception staff and they were very efficient that they immediately contacted the housekeeping supervisor and rectified the matter. Was very pleased with the reception staff's attitude and efficiency.

One of the worse hotels I ever stayed. The receptionist soo was rude. A fat lady, not willing to answer your question at all. Talk like we owe her money. After that, parking is another nightmare. So little and narrow. once we park have to hand over the key to them. they will repark our cars as they wish. won't recommend this hotel at all. there are plenty of nice hotels around there. if they give me a free stay also I would not consider to stay there again.

The parking is lousy! The double tier parking is not just inconvinient but also risky. Electricity tripped off while i was getting ready to attend a function. The hair dryer which was attached to the power point caused it when i switched it on. The deposit of RM50 collection was so back dated. They dont accept any other form of payment other than cash. Like come on, we are in 2022. At least a QR payment ? What if you have customer's checking in middle of night and have no cash or credit card. You expect them to walk to the nearest bank? Cititel used to be one of the good service provider but the standards has terribly gone down. Do something according to the evolution.

Before the pandemic Cititel was my choice of stay in Ipoh as it is really clean & convenient yet quiet. It's a 3min walk to the old town area where food options is endless.

The rooms I used to stay did not have a fridge but the room I stayed at this trip had one which was a plus! If all rooms are not equipped with a fridge, they should!

Service is still good & friendly, but the rooms does need a bit more attention to cleanliness. The toilet needs a lot more work to rid of mouldy grouts, it may have been cleaned but it is a rather unpleasant sight. It does feels uncleaned.

Overall it used to be a 4/5 stay, this trip it's a 3/5.
