room: walls thin as paper you could hear everything .
staff: rude, arrogant, condescending (atypical to Uruguayans know to be kind, educated and courteous.
amenities: room has no options to prepare coffee and when I requested a kettle they told me they don’t have one and lectured me that “that’s only for motels or hostels”
LOL. Then I approached the the dimming room and had to wait for the kitchen aid to provide hot water once her supervisor arrived. Once she did, she indicated that they would have to charge me for it but offer to give it to me for free.
Breakfast is descent buy starts at 7:00.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
I guess you get what you pay for

I did not stay at Hotel Bahamas because there was a problem with my payment method. Expedia informed me of that after the reservation was made, and instructed me to contact the hotel directly, which I did. HB knew nothing. Expedia customer care link in the email was a dead end too. Poor coordination.

Both nights they woke me up during the night by mistake. First night at 2 in the morning Second night at 4. Never received an apology.

I booked a room for ten days, when I saw it was so small and uncomfortable I asked to change and they told me They couldn't change. There wasn't a carpet in the bathroom and after taking a shower there was water everywhere. Breakfast not very good.

2 weeks at the hotel

I had a 2 hour & 30 minute ride from Colonial to Montevideo on the bus, then 30 minutes to get Uruguay money and then a 25 minute ride to the hotel, from the Montevideo bus station. The check-in went smoothly. They helped me carry my luggage to the room. The room was big enough for me. The bath room was kind of compact, and the shower was just big enough for a normal size person and always had warm water. They were working on the hotel addition, but that was after 0800, so no problem. There also was a strangely aggravating hotel worker that couldn't get my name right, even after giving him my business card, pointing to my name.

There's a restaurant straight across the road. It may have it's license soon. There was a nice super market across and a couple hundred feet down the road. There's also a big place a few hundred feet farther that has more shops, including a place to get the Uruguay card for your pocket phone. Just a hundred feet or so from the hotel, is a nice hardware store, then a construction related store. Going up Arizona road 1/4 mile and there's a big construction / hardware store, kind of like a Home Depot. The hotel had a roof drainage problem. Near-by, there is bus service.

The last night there, heard a loud crashing noise. The noise was from the 2 glass doors of the exercise room being broken out. Sure do not know how the 5 year old boy did that. Other than that, it was peaceful being away from the city! Check trip adviser for more.

I stayed here on my last night in Uruguay with my boyfriend. We chose this hotel since it was close to the airport and it was a good deal. However, we were not able to get any sleep the night we stayed there. The walls are paper thin and we could hear the television and people speaking loudly from other rooms. We woke up at 3 AM to catch our flights ... and to our dismay we woke up to what sounded like a man loudly masturbaring. Overall, not a good experience.

A nice place

I stayed at this hotel for the day to allow me to change into a suit for meetings when flying into the airport (and changing when going back to the airport). The staff was friendly. The hotel was good for my purposes. It is what it is, and it is functional and clean. I have only good things to say about the visit.

I arrived 1:30 am. The desk clerk was very prompt in registering me and taking me to the room. The room has exterior shutters that bang in the wind, but the room was otherwise clean. The breakfast was very good, and served in a pleasant room. Check out was easier than checking in.

A bit out of the way, but great for heading east

The management was very helpful and the service was friendly. We had a little trouble finding the place (it is east of the map I had with me). The location was great for us because we headed to Punta del Este in the morning, but it would be a bit far for someone wanting to go back and forth from Montevideo. It was somewhat rustic compared to a pricier hotel, but worth the price we paid, especially with the complementary breakfast, wi-fi, and parking.

We stayed in Hotel Bahamas, Montevideo in December 2011 prior to a trip and after we returned.

The room has humidity odor and the linens were not clean enough.
The bathroom shower, without a curtain, made the whole space a complete mess.

The breakfast is almost OK.

The personnel is very kind.

We are not brave enough to recommend this place.
If you can....avoid it.

Hotel Bahamas no elevators, no english

The problem with Hotel Bahamas is that there are no elevators/lifts at all! How in the world can you carry your luggage up 2 flights of stairs! Then the second problem is that staff does not know any english. Third, when we do come down with our luggage, all of the men in the hotel lobby won't even open the door to help you out. You do have to ask them about any tours and you have to put a deposit down with the hotel and pay the rest to the tour person. The breakfast is included and they have sweet pastry pies made of coconut and strawberry and it is muy delicioso. The cleaning staff one day took our dirty towels but didn't clean the room or replace with clean towels. Our phone didn't work either so we have to go up and down 2 flights of stairs for towels and toilet paper that they didn't replace. You can go accross the street to take the 104 or 105 bus into town and it will bring you back for less than 20 pesos per person. The hotel was very simple in my opinion and the only bad part is the no english speaking staff or elevators.

MIXED FEELINGS

The hotel is a conversion from a motel. As such, things have been added in a \"retroifit\" manner that has pipes and wires hanging out everywhere. They have added things like flat screen TVs, one of our rooms had a small refrigerator .. but they can't make the rooms larger. The difference being the use of a motel room for a couple of hours versus living in the room, more or less, for a week or more. The showers are open air type things, and show evidence of painted-over mold. The hotel plays up the availability of Wi-Fi in the rooms. In actuality you have maybe three rooms on the second floor, the lobby and dining area on the first floor and nothing at all on the third and fourth floors. This became a serious issue during our stay. A further limitation once you go downstairs to access the internet was the lack of outlets and adaptors. Offset that by the most helpful and friendly people you can imagine. There's not much English spoken but they do anything they can to help. I cannot think of a single request we made that wasn't cheerfully accomplished. Hotel food is good. Lastly, be aware that this is not Montevideo! In fact you are no where near Montevideo, you are about twenty-five kilometers away from Montevideo. The only thing convenient to this hotel is the airport. BUT I CAME TO ADORE EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF THE STAFF. I would stay there again just to have these people around me.

El dormitorio es extramedamente chico al igual que las camas y el baño, El amoblamiento es de muy baja calidad y ya cumplio su ciclo. La limpieza es correcta. Lo malo es que en el desayuno si pedis agua caliente te la cobran a precio elevado.

Notre chambre était assez vieille e dans la salle de bain le lavabo était placé juste devant le WC ! Presque impossible de s’asseoir pour ceux qui on les jambes un peu longues! Dommage car Réception et restaurant sont de haut niveau ! Le personnel et au top !
Petit conseil : il faut avoir une voiture car on est assez loin des plages et de la capitale.
